Internet Connect in Applications folder

Hello everybody. I have a question. In my Applications folder is Internet Connect application and it's has an icon like it's doesn't work. When I click on it appear such message: "You cannot open the application "Internet Connect" because it is not supported on this architecture." And I afraid after deleting this application I'll be have some problems. Is there anybody who have the same one in Application folder? Or any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi Lu-Maze,
I believe that Internet Connect Application was used in Tiger and was found in the Utilities Folder. I don't think it was carried over with Leopard, as I can't find it. Move it to the trash but don't empty and see if it causes any issues. I don't know how you managed to get it if you installed Leopard unless it was a hold over from Tiger if you just did the upgrade and not the erase and install.

  • No Internet Connect in Applications Folder

I think I accidentally deleted Internet Connect from my Applications Folder a couple of years ago. Can't find it using Spotlight. I went to reinstall it from the startup CD, but I wasn't sure how to proceed. I need it to configure my VPN. Any suggestions?

    From
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Connect
Up to the latest version of Mac OS X 10.4, the Internet Connect application provides more general tools than the more detailed Network pane in System Preferences, which allows the user to configure and control systemwide network settings. However, as of Mac OS X 10.5, Internet Connect's functions have been incorporated into the Network pane of System Preferences, and the application is no longer included.

  • UserEvent connected to applications folder on an attached partition

This doesn't happen on a bare-bones Mountain Lion installation.  My regular installation goes back to 2007, has had numerous software updates and has a fair amount of third party software.
When I mount the partitions on my Drobo S, I typically get the following type of connection [output from lsof].
COMMAND   PID USER   FD   TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF    NODE NAME
    notifyd    14 root  297r   DIR   1,12     1360       2 /Volumes/B6
    notifyd    14 root  298r   DIR   1,12      442  421104 /Volumes/B6/usr
    notifyd    14 root  301r   DIR   1,12      238  130854 /Volumes/B6/private

    notifyd    14 root  315r   DIR   1,12     2448  280507 /Volumes/B6/Library
    mds        39 root   64r   DIR   1,12     1360       2 /Volumes/B6
    UserEvent 915  rbp  137r   DIR   1,12     2040  463868 /Volumes/B6/Applications
    UserEvent 915  rbp  138r   DIR   1,12     1360       2 /Volumes/B6
The two UserEvent entries prevent me from dismounting (ejecting) the partition.  They do not exist on partitions I can dismount.
I am at a total loss as to what is creating this.  Consequently, I can't begin to determine how to prevent it.  PID 915 referes t the UserEventAgent, which I presume sets this up.

    ali b,
Yes, this an odd situation. When it last occurred, there was only one Apple Tech Support rep who understood the problem and knew how to fix it. It's a bit disappointing not be able to find any tech note referencing the problem and the solution. It's actually fairly simple, but sequence specific.
The "Application" folders that appeared in the search window were not the application folder containing all of my apps. Both were only 4KB in size. One contained an iTunes foler with some documentation in it. The other contained a Virtual PC folder with some scripts in it. The folder that contains my apps is actually over 7GB.
Again, I believe that the key to solving this problem involves creating a new folder, moving the contents from one to another, deleting the old and renaming the new. However, I also believe that some of these steps require terminal commands in order to accomplish the tasks. Ergo, a solid understanding of Unix is key to solving the problem.

  • Loss of internet connection, msn application not responding

Ive had a reoccuring problem in the past month or so.
I am on msn and suddenly i realize that no one is answering me. but i still seem to be logged on. and then msn seems to automatically log me off. when i try to log back on, it simply freezes up and i need to force quit as the application is not responding. I also noticed that while this is happening, my internet ages do not seem to load at all. however, it does not say that i have lost my internet connection, it still says i have four full bars.
    could someone please help me?

  • Application asks for internet connection

    Hi,
When I start any application, that I wrote with python for my Nokia 5800(software version 60.0.003), it asks me for internet connection. Application doesn't use it or need it. And if I skip it applications works fine.
I'm using ensymble(PyS60 application packager 2.0.0) with Python 2.5.2 to create application, and python version 2.0.0 on Nokia phone.
I tried to put just "--caps=" or "--caps=ReadUserData" to check if this will remove it, but it still asks for access point. Even for simple application as: print"Hello world!"
Does somebody knows how can I remove this?
    Thanks.

First you've to add your WLAN network and define the settings. Now, if you open the browser in always ask mode, your new defined WLAN should be there.

  • Internet Connect crash/Software Update won't open

    I have a 500mhz G3 slot loading iMac running 10.3.9
About 2 weeks ago, after waking FrankenMac up from sleep mode, I noticed the Airport status symbol failed to appear in the menu bar (next to the volume/date&time etc).
Looking into my Network settings revealed that I was indeed still connected to the internet, via my Airport, all systems go. However, I noticed that "show airport status in menu bar" was unchecked, so I checked the box. Which apparently did jack squat b/c there's still no icon.
For the last couple weeks, as long as I've been connected to the internet, I could really give a flying flip about whether the airport status icon is there or not. I mean, seriously. I know this computer is a little old so why rock the boat on something trivial?
Until today. Today I was determined to figure out where the icon is, why it went away and if there are any other underlying problems.
I started first with Internet connect. Applications->Internet Connect, clicked on the purple IC button, only to have it launch in the dock, bounce once, then quit.
    _A crash log shows:_

I attempted to open Software Update next to see if there was something critical (ha!) I might be missing. Apple menu->software update and it was a repeat performance of Internet Connect, except this time I wouldn't even get so much as the Software Update icon in the dock. The dock would move everything to the left, as if it was going to open, then....nothing.
*Software update was working as of 6/14*, when I updated (perhaps foolishly) to Quicktime 7.5.

This ridiculously long post boils down to 2 questions, really.
    • Any ideas why Internet Connect and Software Update won't open and how to fix?
    • Where in the world is my Airport status icon? (not that it matters since I'm connected to the internet, but doggone it!)
I've run Disk Utility, repaired permissions and the HD checks out fine. I'm just at a loss (not surprising, given my limited amount of fix-it-yerself knowledge)
Should I just put up, shut up and be grateful that these problems, while aggravating, aren't majorly disrupting my life?

Okay no worries, can't find where to delete this post...

  • Internet Connect Tool is not in my Applications Folder

Everyone refers to it, but it aint in the Apps Folder of my new iMac. Anyone know where it's hiding???

Although it is not needed in leopard just for curiosity I copied the internet connect app from a tiger system onto a leopard system and it works

  • Need Internet Connect Application

Due to a confusion I won't bother explaining here (first because I'm embarrased and second because it's boring) I deleted my Internet Connect application from my Applications folder and now I can't connect to the internet with Airport. Is there anyway I can download it from the Apple site? I've looked it up and apparently it's not available...
    Am I done for?

miguel, Welcome to the discussion area!
I have never used Internet Connect to log in. Just go to the AirPort menu and select the network name.
Or if your network isn't broadcasting the name, go to the AirPort menu, select "Other...", enter the network name and password.

  • I have an iPad 2 and receive e-mail through internet connection. When I delete e-mails, and clear my Trash folder, they re-appear. Setting are for remove from server when moved from Inbox. Any idea what I can do to actually delete them?

I have an iPad 2 and receive e-mail through regular internet connection. Lately, when I delete e-mails, and clear my Trash folder, they re-appear, downloaded anew from the server and marked as unread. My e-mail Advanced Settings are selected for "Remove from server when moved from Inbox." Even when I access the e-mail accountfrom my desktop and delete the e-mails, the re-appear on my iPad. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and what I can do to actually delete them?

Sounds like you are looking in the wrong Administrative Group container which is why you are seeing your Exchange 2010 servers in there.
When you install Exchange 2003 only you will see a container named by default as "CN=First Administrative Group" container. But this could be named anything if you changed the Organization Name on the installation when you installed the first
Exchange 2003 server into the domain/forest.
You will notice that when you install Exchange 2010 part of the AD setup is to create a new configuration container and is named by default "CN=First Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)".
So it sounds like you are not looking in the right location within ADSIEdit.
You may find the following article also helpful for this issue which is the same resolution:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2012/05/17/empty-cn-servers-container-causing-issues-with-public-folders-on-small-business-server-2011.aspx
I recommend though that you ensure your Exchange 2003 servers are fully uninstalled or no longer present in your environment before you go deleting the Servers container though.. The following Microsoft article will help with this:

  • What happened is that my internet connection was not good so i downloaded .ipsw file from a torrent but now i cannot get it to update my ipad because ios 5.0.1 is out i tried copying files to ipad updates in the itunes folder but no help

what happened is that my internet connection was not good so i downloaded .ipsw file from a torrent but now i cannot get it to update my ipad because ios 5.0.1 is out i tried copying files to ipad updates in the itunes folder but it still asked me to download a 700mb software update
    plz help

If you downloaded the correct version for your iPad model (and the different models have different ipsw files), then you should be able to navigate to it in iTunes by pressing and holding the shift key on Windows (command key on Mac) when clicking the Check For Updates button.

  • I receive the error, "No Internet Connection" and my Adobe Creative applications are crashing on a regular basis.

I keep getting the same errors with the damn Creative Cloud application on my Windows 7 machine, which IS connected to a LAN and IS actively connected to the internet at the time the error routinely appears in the midst of tasks.  I have checked root certificates, manually checked my hosts file and run the tests outlined above to both Adobe addresses.
In fact, the error kept occuring while I was on an over 3-1/2 hour call with a very through and nice representative from Adobe who had remote screen access at the time (through Adobe connect) and could see the error repeatedly occuring!
Her comment, "This just happens sometimes with this application and there's not a patch for it yet",  The problem I was having with Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC was so severe that I had to do a SYSTEM RESTORE which then started  affecting other Adobe applications because Windows had erased part of the programs (or all of some programs) but Adobe's software saw them as still installed, that she had me uninstall ALL Adobe Creative Cloud applications using the Adobe Cleaner Tool and reinstall everyting from SCRATCH. She and I had tried numerous other ways to repair the problems I was having with updates not installing correctly AND constant program freezing, etc. before this taking this extreme step.
I'm a professional programmer / software / web designer, so I had tried for hours correct the issues the previous night and had tried once overnight to reach someone in Adobe support only to be told of over an hour wait time by the automation and not offered a callback.
Anyway, despite her best assistance this afternoon (and double confirmation that everything tested correctly), it has taken, so far, well over six hours to reinstall only a portion of what I need for my work and on a deadline because the application keeps reporting "No Internet Connection" and I have programs cued to install unattended.  I am now way behind schedule on some design projects which MUST BE COMPLETED by deadline and require Adobe's software to be installed and function correctly.
Adding to this, Windows Explorer has repeatedly crashed after installing the damn Creative Cloud application and works normally when it's removed and "cleaned" ... and I've seen so many problems with the install system, etc. that I have to wonder what in the hell the company was thinking when this approach was launched?
I generally have liked -- and indeed loved -- some of Adobe's products in the past, but the recent experience has certainly been costly in time and disappointing.
Many other software manufacters integrate suites, perform updates and confirm licenses without such a buggy, time intensive and unreliable process -- including my own company.
Aside from complaining at this point, I wish somebody from Adobe would provide alternative install methods and / or a fullproof fix for this bug and some of the other installation bugs many of us experience.  Any thoughts, advice, knowing that not only I -- but also the Adobe Support Staff Person accessing my computer LIVE -- tried the various "fixes"?

Branching this to a new discussion as the previous discussion was related to the inability to connect and download the installation software.
Rob it does sound like you are facing some connection and stability difficulties.  Do you manage your network youself?  I am a bit concerned by the fact that you have stated that you periodically loose Internet connection while completing certain tasks.  Does this affect your ability to utilize the already installed Adobe Creative software?
I would also recommend reviewing your installation logs to determine if any errors occured during the installation process.  Please see Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html for information on how to locate and interpret your installation log files.  Please feel free to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion thread.

When trying to use my banking apps I get the error "Network Required  This application requires an active Internet Connection.  Please try again".  This happens with two different apps from two different banks.  One of them works occasionally and have not figured out why.  I have cell signal and I am on a strong WiFi network.  Same thing happens when I turn off the WiFi too.    I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the app with no improvement.   I can't seem to find any setting that would cause this.   Does anyone have any suggestions?
