Internet Connect Keeps Bugging Me

Every 15 minutes or so while I'm online, Internet Connect keeps asking me whether or not I want to stay connected. Is there any way I can stop it from doing that? It's annoying.

Hi,
System Preferences -> Network -> (Your connection type) -> PPP -> (PPP Options...) -> Prompt every XX minutes to maintain connection

Likely both of you have Open networks and the Mac is just connecting to the strongest one, hopefully it's just that.
If you set a encryption and a password, then it shouldn't be doing this.

If you can't do this yourself, then have a local geek come by and set you up.
Also if you head to System Preferences > Network > Airport > Advanced, there might be a connection list, you drag your connection to the top and remove the ones your not going to use.

  • Internet connection keeps dropping at night

I'm having a bit of a weird problem with my internet connection. I connect via an ethernet cable and the connection keeps dropping. It generally starts after 7pm and seems to be every 40 minutes. I have changed the microfilters and ethernet cable but I'm still getting this problem. The really weird thing is that all four lights on the hub are blue but the computer cannot connect to the router. Sometimes the connection will just drop other times it will say limited connection. I've finally had to resort to windows diagnostics and sometimes even that doesn't work. I swapped my black hub with the old white one and  I didn't have this problem of the connection dropping but my connection speed dropped to 1.5 - 2mb.
I was thinking maybe there was something wrong with my ethernet card but now I think it must be something in the black hub because the white one worked. Am I correct in thinking I need a new router?

  • 'Internet Connect' keeps coming up

My internet was down all day yesterday (SBC-Yahoo DSL). Today it is back up. All morning I continue to get the 'Internet Connect' box that comes up and asks if I would like to keep the connection. My 'Location' is set to 'Automatic' and the 'Show' is set to 'Network Status'.
How do I change my settings to stop this box from popping up every 15 minutes or so?

    Thank you, Niel.
Have made the changes. Will see if this fixes the problem. If not too much trouble could you take a look at my 'connection' problem (another post) and let me know if you can figure that one out.
Thanks so much for your help!

  • Internet Connection Keeps Dropping

So for a couple of months now my internet connection has been randomly dropping out. It happens sometimes a couple of times a night, sometimes not at all. When the connection drops out the router seems to power off (all lights turn off, power light turns red). After a couple minutes the router seems to reboot and everything is fine. During this time FiOS TV continues to work.
I have now had 3 new routers and new ONT. None of this has solved the problem. I have tried multiple coax lines and that hasn't solved the issue. I have tried moving the router to a location with better ventilation and that hasn't solved the issue. I have tried plugging the router into a UPS and that hasn't solved the issue. I have tried plugging the ONT into a UPS and that hasn't solved the issue.
I am about ready to drop FiOS all together, a connection that randomly drops out multiple times a night just is not usable. I can't play any internet games for fear of getting disconnected, I can't watch videos without it stopping halfway through. I have a tech coming out Friday but I am not sure what they can do.
    Does anyone have some suggestions?

Yeah, I have a suggestion, read this: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/Verizon-FIOS-Router-Actiontec-MI424WR-GEN3I-Issue-Dropped...

  • My internet connection keeps reverting back to using a manual proxy server configuration pointing at 127.0.0.1 Port 55414. I've tried the help regarding the user.js and prefs.js files but still it continues to revert to the manual proxy configuration!

I know how to change my network settings to fix my internet connection, I just select "Auto-detect network settings for this network" under Tools, Options, Network, Settings. However every time I close down Firefox it reverts to the manual proxy configuration pointing to 127.0.0.1 Port 55414.
I've tried all the suggestions under saving your preferences but this hasn't worked so I'm at a loss as to what to do next. If I can't sort this I'll have to revert back to Internet Explorer as this doesn't have this problem!

  • BROADBAND OVER PPoe Internet connect keeps asking me a reminder

I recently got a broadband connection that runs through the ethernet via PPPoe, Actually, as I'm writing this it's after popping up again... It states:
Internet Connect, This is your reminder that your connection is still active. Do you wish to remain connected?
Athough this is a good feature there seems to be no option to knock it off, and this is very irritating since my broadband connection is always on
Is there any way to stop this from happening?
    Thanks for everything

  • After upgrading to IOS 8, the password for my internet connection keeps telling me is incorrect (when I know it is correct).  Has anyone else experienced this?

Internet connection was disconnected, and now when I try to log back into my same network, it tells me my password is incorrect.  Have validated with my ISP that it is correct.

just upgraded to 8.1, and that took care of the problem!

  • Our internet connection keeps reverting to Airport from Ethernet.

It is an iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core. The other iMac which was purchased a year ago is fine. The 2 computers use a Netgear router supplied by Time Warner. The wireless connection also seems OK. The older Mac reverts to Airport instead of maintinaing its ehternet connection. This just started happeneing.
    Any ideas?

Turn Airport off on the computer. Or in the computer's Network preferences use the toolgear dropdown menu, select the option to set service order. Put Ethernet on the top of the order.

  • Airport Says It's Connected -- But No Internet Connection...

    This is driving me mad...
We're using Airport to connect a 12" PowerBook G4 (10.4.11) to a WirelessLAN (the modem is an Arcor A300 WLAN -- a German make)
We had been having no problems until it one day said "you are not connected to the internet".
I've tried all the restarting the modem rigamarole, and the PB can connect via Ethernet. Opening Internet connect, Airport signal strength is 100%, it states that it's connected to the Arcor modem.
Under System Preferences / Network it states "You are connected to the internet via Airport"
Also, I can see the PowerBook mounted in My Mac Pro's Finder...so it must be connecting wirelessly to the Arcor box --- My Mac Pro is connected to the Arcor Box via Ethernet cable.
Anyone got any ideas, suggestions as to what's going on?
    TIA,

I am having a very similar problem with one of the iMacs here at our office on AirPort. We have four machines using an Airport Extreme, but only one has this issue--a full set of connection bars and access to everything else that is shared, but the internet connection keeps dropping every 15-20 minutes and won't reconnect. From the Airport icon we turn off the Airport, then connect again and it works fine for another 15 minutes until it quits again. I finally had to use a cable to hard-connect that computer to our network and now it works fine, so it can't be the computer itself.
What to do? I'm afraid this problem will start with the other machines, as well. Can anyone assist?

  • Imac;internet connection drops but other devices still work fine

    Hey Guys,
I have an Imac 2.5 Ghz running Lion 10.7.5. My internet connection keeps dropping about every 30 minutes or so while my other devices (Mac book and iPhone 5) are working absolutley fine. This is resolved when I turn my wifi off and on, but only for about 30 minutes. Using browsers is fine this way but say online gaming is a disaster. I've tried several approaches, I renewed my DHCP license, which seemed to work for a while but after a few weeks the problem resurfaced and renewing didn't work anymore. I tried different DNS adresses but that does about the same as turning the wifi of and on. I tried rebooting the router too, didn't work and i tried deleting my network and forcing the computer tos tart all over again. I also tried chaning the MTU size, also with no avail.
Any suggestions would be very welcome!
    Cheers,

There is a utility called iPhone Configuration Utility that you can download from apple.com - iPhone Configuration Utility 3.5 for Mac OS X (there is a windows version as well).
You can connect the iPhone via USB to a Mac and try to connect to WiFi, the Summary tab produces a console log of the connection messages.
If the unprotected access works, but protected does not, the hardware has very little knowledge of higher level protocols. It is unlikely to be a HW issues.
Can you connect to other protected networks other than your home?
Was an Diagnostics run conducted another of your devices?
If you have more than one Access points, it may be worth looking at your configuration at home.

  • Internet connection diagnostics

    Hello,
I am trying to figure out what machine I am having problems with -- is it my computer (if so, hardware? software?), my router, etc.
Lately, my internet seems to be cutting out fairly regularly... for every 25 minutes of connection I get, there's about 5-10 minutes of non-connection. I'll be working in Safari 4, for example, and when I click a link, it will take a long time to load and finally the error page will appear. In Mail, the same thing. In iChat, though, I don't necessarily get an error message. Usually my buddy lists stay open and it just looks like people aren't responding to my IMs (however, on the other side, my buddies say that it looks like I've signed off).
The Airport icon does not change at all between the periods of connection and non-connection... it always shows 4 bars. It does switch between "Airport: On" and "Airport: Scanning..." -- I don't know if that is normal.
Please help me diagnose the problem! Thank you.

I am having the same problem and it is really driving me nuts. I have updated the firmware on my D-Link router, I have purchased the Little Snitch program because I had heard it would help, I have turned off IPv6, and still nothing.
I just purchased this computer about a month ago and it seems like I am running the network diagnostics every 15 minutes to repair my wireless connection. I can't figure out why this is happening.
I am open to any and all suggestions. I have read in other forums that people are having similar problems. I switched from a PC to a Mac in hopes of having the best machine possible yet something as vital as an internet connection keeps failing.
    Please help.

  • Anyone have intermittently lost internet connection, poor network speed and signal with new Time Capsule?

I just bought the new TC with 2gb HD. Replacing 1st Gen Airport Express. I have all the latest firmware and hardware updates. Using: iMac, multiple macbooks and airbooks, multiple iPads, android tablets, iPhones. With the new TC, I have less than impressive range and speed and my internet connection keeps disappearing intermittently. Restarts of my cable modem and the TC sometimes help. This all started with addition of new TC. I have suffered similar episodes in the past with old APE with new firmware updates. Anyone else seeing these problems? I have heard a lot of people say the new TC drastically improved their network range and speed.

The TC is failing and this happens at times with cable or fibre connections due to the WAN port having issues.
The Express uses 100mbit ethernet ports and does seem to have less issues. On the TC the gigabit is sometimes confused. If you have a small swtch around try using that between the fibre connection and the TC.
If you are using a patch cable to a wall outlet.. the other thing you can try is a crossover cable.. these are still readily available and it has helped for some people.
Do a factory reset of the TC.. and then see if you are getting the public IP onto the WAN port.
If you do there are some other issues that happen so if you can.. give us a screenshot of the wan settings you are getting in the airport utilty.
You can just cover the last few digits of the public IP.. although unless it is static it will change anyway.

  • Satellite L750 - Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Internet connection issue

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite L750 and a Linksys/Cisco Modem Router WAG120N at the beginning of June and have had trouble ever since connecting to the internet.
I have a desktop PC hard wired to the modem and don't have any problems accessing the internet. The laptops wireless internet connection keeps either dropping it or not displaying a webpage (even though it says it is connected). It will only run efficiently when connected by ethernet cable directly to the modem. Linksys have told me they believe the Atheros is not compatible with the modem and to contact Toshiba and ask them for the latest download to update the driver adaptor. I am currently running the one listed in the heading.
Can anyone help? I don't know much about these things. Thank you.

    Hi Lisa C,
Do you have these issues on preinstalled Windows 7 version from Toshiba or on your own Windows installation?
Does it happen in eco mode or maximum performance too?
This issue could be related to power saving function of your WLAN card. In Windows power management you can disable the WLAN power saving function. You have to set it to maximum performance for every power profile.
Furthermore a WLAN driver update is always recommendable. You can download the latest version on Toshiba WLAN portal:
