I grasp that you are having multiple issues with your notebook, one of which is when you try to open the connection manager you get the message "HP connection manager service not installed. Application will exit.".  You also can not open folders on your desktop.
Have you checked for viruses or malware?  MS Malicious Software Removal Tool.
This is not a recommendation but many people have used Malwarebytes with success also.
Have you tried running MS Fix It  to aid with overcoming issues?
Have you tried doing a restore  back to when it was working properly?
If you still have issues I suggest you do a recovery back to factory.

  • Downloaded trial app does not appear in Applications folder

I downloaded the Photoshop CC trial, and my Creative Cloud app manager tells me it's updated. But, I can't find the app anywhere on my Mac OSX 10.8.5 computer - it's not in the Applications folder, which I know how to access from the Finder window. I did a search of my entire computer and there is no sign that this app exists. What am I missing?

    Just once or twice

It turns out that the problem had to do with network accounts, even though it was not clear at first.  Redirecting the program to the local machine's cache with a network home redirector script fixed the issue.  Thanks anyway.

  • How do I uninstall software not in my applications folder? The icon won't drag and drop to trash.

I received a fitness device and downloaded the software. It didn't download to my Applications folder and I wasn't smart enought ot make sure I saved it there. Now the device doesn't work and I want to uninstall the software. I tried dragging and dropping the icon from Launchpad but that doesn't work. This lomg-time PC user turned Mac lover needs hlep!

well this is strange, but hang with me a sec.  Some of these will sound obvious but i have to ask them.
    1)  Are you 100% sure it's not in your application folder?  (I have downloaded stuff and looked for a while without seeing the app RIGHT in front of me).
    2) The hard thing to believe is that it is in your launchpad but NOT in your application folder.
    3) Try downloding it again....it might find the detect the old version and overwrite it.  I have never downloaded an app that did not automatically download to the applications folder, but if this one did, check to see what option it gives you to dowload to by default.  That way you can see maybe where it was installed to, and thus find it and delete it.  then reinstall to the applications folder.
    let me know

The dashboard Icon has disappeared from my dock and is not in my applications folder. I know it's there somewhere. How can I restore or reinstall it?

Do you have Time Machine enabled.   If so, go back through your previous months until it features in your Application folder.   Then restore.

  • Application does not appear in applications folder

On OS X Mountain Lion, there is an application (not from the Mac App Store) that does not appear in my applications folder, but it DOES appear in Launchpad and I would like to delete it. How can I remove it? Since it is not from the Mac App Store, I cannot click the "x" or drag it to the trash.

Where is the application located if not in the Applications folder? You can use Spotlight to find it. When you do just drag it to the Trash.

  • Downstream WSUS server without internet connection, license terms not being downloaded

    We have 2 WSUS servers.
ServerA is the upstream server and has access to the internet
ServerB is configured as Autonomous downstream and has no internet access.
Synchronisation between the two servers works fine, with the exception of updates that have license terms. As part of the synchronisation, the downstream server attempts to download the license terms directly from Microsoft but fails, since there is no internet
    connection.
Is there a way of configuring it so that the license terms are download from the upstream server or something similar?

with the exception of updates that have license terms. As part of the synchronisation, the downstream server attempts to download the license terms directly from Microsoft
This is not how it works. If the downstream server is correctly configured as a downstream server, it downloads
    everything from the upstream server.
How did you determine that your downstream server was attempting to download direct from Microsoft, or that it was directly related to anything being synchronized from the upstream server.

  • Do you get free internet connection everywhere when not on a plan for iphone 4s does it come with siri

do you get internet connection everywhere without a plan on iphone 4s and do you get siri

Yeah but if his iP is already saying it's paired the issue is prob something else.
I am guessing it's just not being powered/connected right--I've had a goofy time turning mine on relative to
    other BT headsets...
With it in your ear try holding down the power button till you hear ascending chimes (descending=off).
After it's on you sometimes need to tap it once briefly (hear a beep) and then you'll see the little BT symbol on the iP if it's connected.
    Try that.

  • Photoshop CC is not in my Applications folder

I am running on mac. CC Desktop says Photoshop CC is installed. But it is not availble in Applications. The older versions of CS4 and CS5.1 are still there though.
Any help to solve this would be appreciated.
    Joe

Thanks to Kulldeep and Romsinha for replying.
I have followed all the suggestions including deleting the .odb file with out success.
I used the cleanup tool and then downloaded the CC desktop which went fine as did downloading Acrobat XI Pro.
The download of Photoshop CC got to about 80% and failed - in my Applications folder there is an Adobe Photoshop CC folder with a broken app in it.
    Any ideas guys?

  • Apps do not appear in applications folder, app store shows that they are installed

My system failed and I had my husband restore all the applications. He was installing Garage Band, iMovie ad iPhoto using the App Store. He paused the download of all the applications since the system had to to do a restart.  When the system came back up, App Store was reporting that the applications were installed, but when I looked in the applications folder none of the applications were in the folder.
How do I restore these purchases?
    Thanks

My husband was able to figure it out.
The problem was that the backup of my old system was connected and the old applications folder was found by the App Store App store. So App Store thought that the application was installed even though the application folder was not on the system drive.
The work around was disconnect the drive. My husband thinks that the the App Store should ignore any application that is not in the system Application folder.
    Thanks

  • ITunes not showing in Applications folder

    Hi there,
I've just realised that iTunes has vanished from my Applications folder. I'm not sure how long it has been gone.
However, as I still have iTunes in my Dock, I can boot the app from there. The programme works fine.
Further, doing a Spotlight search or a Find on iTunes does not reveal the iTunes application anywhere on my machine.
If I right-click iTunes in the Dock and get it to 'Show in Finder', it simply opens the Applications folder but has nothing selected.
Does anyone know how to get iTunes back, or where it is hiding on my computer?
    Thanks!

Hi there, thanks for your tips.
V.K, I plugged that command into Terminal and came up with this:
    *drwxrwxr-x@ 3 root admin hidden 102 20 Apr 19:48 /Applications/iTunes.app*
After showing the hidden files using Király's command, iTunes appeared in the Applications folder. However, it wasn't called .iTunes. When hiding the hidden files again, it vanished once more.
What would you suggest I do next?
