Internet connection comes and goes
My Macbook is hooked up to my husbands wireless network and used to go through the Time Machine but he had problems with it so he took it off the network. Now my internet connection comes and goes every 5 to 10 minutes - it loses connection and then finds it again.
My husband (the computer expert in the house) doesnt really care so it is up to me to figure out what is wrong. Can anyone help me?
I think by "Time Machine" you actually mean "Time Capsule"--TC is the hardware, TM is the software the does the backups to the hardware.
As for your problem: If the Time Capsule is "off the network," as you suggest, how is your husband connecting to the internet? What kind of computer does he have? More information is better here, to help us solve your problem--the wires come into the house and then what?

ever since I installed Lion my internet connection comes and goes....have reported this to Apple Care who have helped me reset my connection but it is still happening...cant believe it is a fault of the ISP as my Iphone does not have this problem, nor does my PC laptop...is this a fault in the new system?
Thanks so much but none of that helped. It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive. I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!

802.11n connection comes and goes with 10.5.2 update
Running 10.5.2 with Mac Pro Quad Core and Airport Extreme base station on latest firmware.
802.11n loses signal randomly (airport icon goes grey), all I have to do to get it back is act like I'm going to choose a new network (click on airport icon in the menu bar) and then let go of the menu without choosing anything and voila, back.
802.11g works fine... if I switch the base station to b/g compatible no drop outs. This however, is not a solution in my book.
No problems prior to 10.5.2Check this out before someone deletes it.

I tried everything (and believe me my job is to sort out stuff like this). If someone brought back a machine like this to where I work I would tick a box on a form that says 'pre-loaded software fault' and send it back.
I have gone back to Tiger as I cannot maintain a wireless connection or stop all my applications from randomly quitting etc etc etc. Of course a small minority have given me excessive grief for daring to state that this is apple's fault but hay ho.
PS you are lucky if it always comes back as you have described. Imagine you had to reboot several times an hour. Windows 95 anyone? -
Airport network connection comes and goes
I have a belkin N router and an iMac with an original airport card. For the past couple of months the airport will intermittently pretend the network doesn't exist. The router is 30 ft away so the connection is near 100% when it sees the network. When I try to access it manually by typing the network name in through "Other.." it refuses to recognize the network. I have completely cleaned the system software to no effect. Any thoughts very welcome. Thanks.
iMac g4 flat panel Mac OS X (10.3.9) 800 mhzI am having a similar problem to yours. I have done a clean install of 10.3 several times on my iMac 15" Flat Panel. When I boot up, the Time, Volume & Airport indicators on the right side of the menu bar take a long time (2min.) before they show up. When they do, the airport indicator is 'grey'. When I check Sys Pref - Networks, It says the airport is on but not connected to a network. Other menu bar items on the left boot up normally.
The airport was coming on intermittently so I decided to do a clean reinstall of 10.3, and I removed the bottom cover and re-seated the airport card. Since the clean re-install, all I get is a 'grey' airport indicator everytime.
I'm hoping someone responds to this string with some suggestions... -
7510e printer loses internet connectivity when it goes to sleep
I own a 7510e all in one printer, I connected it wireless again after having it connected with a USB
cable, I had to do this because my printer loses internet connectivity when it goes to sleep or if I get a power outage, this has been going on since I purchased it last year. I got a new wireless router/modem combo from my ISP server and hoped that would solve the problem but it has not.
I cannot get any apps except for those that are on the front of my printer which are just for small kids. I am now told that this printer has been discontinued and 7520 has replaced it, I do not wish to spend another $200.00 in less than a year for a printer. It is registered with HP connected and I have a Efax # and HP connected address, I did everything correctly but it seems that each time I set it up wireless it messes up my desktop windows 7 home premium 64 bit, cloud services told me not to use IE 10 but we are ready to download IE11 so I am using IE 10, this time HP support assistant quit working and I could not even uninstall it until I downloaded microsoft fix it and then redownloaded it from HP web site.
If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it, I am not on a home group yet it always tells me I do not have administrators permission to do a lot of things, I am the only user.Hi emma22

I checked and there is no way to turn off the sleep mode on this model.
I included a document for Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection and to try Solution three: Assign a static IP address to the printer. You will need to get your It department most likely to set this up for you if you don't have full admin rights.

Wireless Signal Comes And Goes
I have T40p laptop and i'm having trouble keeping a steady wireless signal, it comes and goes. It will connect to my router for a minute then it goes away. Then it comes back, then it goes away this is beyond frustrating. When i use my high speed cable thats connected to my router my laptop works fine. I've downloaded 3 different drivers from the Lenovo site, these are drivers that a person on the phone told me to download. Is this a hardware or a software issue? Can someone please, please help??

Go to Solution.You may want to change the channel that the router is broadcasting with. I was originally broadcasting with channel 2 on my router (Linksys WRT54GL with latest DDWRT firmware) but I was getting sporadic drop outs with my X60s, the wife's Acer, my T61 and the mediacenter PC in the living room. I was a bit confused and thought it might have been driver related but the problem seems to have just appeared out of nowhere and it affected both my XP and Vista PC's. How could it affect all my computers if I have turned off auto update and have not installed anything new for quite some time?
I did a refresh of the wireless networks and found that since I last checked, there are a few more routers in my vacinity so I thought that they could be all interfering with one another and broadcasting on almost the same default frequency. I started with channel 1 and finally worked my way up to channel 4 and none of my computers has dropped out for over a day now. When the dropouts occurred, they would happen every 3 to 5 minutes, which was very annoying to say the least.

My site will publish to a folder, but will not publish to MobileMe. Error says, “iWeb couldn’t connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again.“ Connection is OK!

The recent post you suggested was not necessary because another of your suggestions did the trick: https://discussions.apple.com/message/11503337#11503337 In effect, it seems to have reestablished my connection to my MobileMe account, and my iWeb site now publishes on MobileMe.
My next step will be to transfer my iWeb site to another Personal Web Provider when MobileMe ceases to exist next June. Any recommendations for a simple PWP?

I dropped my iphone 5 in the water, its dead and when I try to charge it the apple logo comes and goes, thats my only sign of life, I've done many after market repairs but what I want to know is if I should replace the ligntning port or the battery... or just buy a galaxy s5?
If you dropped it in water, and then plugged it in, you may very well have destroyed the battery and/or the logic board. Charging/plugging in to a power source is very damaging to wet electronic devices. There is not much you can do but replace the entire iPhone...and since you did repairs yourself Apple will not do an out-of-warranty replacement.
You can try replacing the battery, the lightning port is another issue, but I would not expect that iPhone to work again. -
my screen looks like a green mesh has been placed over it. It is nearly illegible and comes and goes. Nothing I do can remove it. Does anyone have a remedy?
You have a hardware problem and the only people/place that can fix that is an Apple store or AARP.
So take it into your nearest Apple store or AARP. -
Mac Pro 8-core Power Supply Making Humming Noise That Comes And Goes
This is in reference to a Mac Pro 3,1 8-core purchased around Feb 2008.
Lately, I've noticed a strange noise coming from my power supply that sounds like the noise a refrigerator radiator makes. It's a humming noise that rapidly comes and goes, constantly.
The power supply fan speed is running at 599rpm
I'm not sure if the problem could've been caused by adding additional ram (12GB, OWC) or an additional HDD (3rd HDD, WD), but I didn't really notice the noise until after adding these components.
What could be the cause of this problem? What are my repair options if necessary (without Apple Care)?
Thanks in advance.I know for a fact it is not any of my hard drives because the noise is becoming more frequent no matter what hard drive I use, I actually have a 1.5tb, a 1tb, two 500gb and two 320gb drives, I have set an appointment to take my system in and have it tested, it is starting to crash 5-6 times a day. I can not get a lot of work done with this annoying spinning noise and the shutting down. Thank god for my Apple care, and I have visited various forums that lead me to believe its the power supply going out, with the symptoms it is having. Strange Line In problem with my X-Fi Elite Pro. Stereo sound comes and goes
I have an X-Fi Elite Pro with latest drivers installed. Everything works fine, except for the Line In port in Entertainment mode. I have an AverMedia TV/FM card and its audio output (stereo) is plugged in my X-Fi's Line In/Mic In (PCI). The problem is that I get sound only from the right channel but not from the left one, so the sound comes out in mono. From time to time, I get to hear in stereo (both channels) but it seems a random event. This input works just fine in Game and Creation modes btw.
Stereo sound from this particular input comes and goes in random order and sometimes I get about 50% on the left and 00% on the right channel. Sometimes, left channel volume fades in and out slowly. I already did some troubleshooting such as set Line in/Mic In/Digital In to "Line In/Mic In", speaker diagnostics, checked it in Game & Creation modes, turned to default values and so on but I still get this problem.
Seems pretty wired. A ghost in the machine! Creative products never seize to amaze us!Soo...your're calling me stupid? Well, perhaps your right, but then again, I might have a point!

If you still think it's too low with SVM enabled and everything is turned up...then I'm affraid you're out of luck and might consider buying another speaker set, if it's a major issue to you. -
2 droid DNA's service comes and goes on one
We have 2 droid DNA's and where we are on my phone the service comes and goes drops to no service most of the time. The other phone changes from 1x to 3x but doesn't drop service. I have reloaded my phone several times and entered *228 to get the local towers nothing seems to change it. Any opinions?

The sound comes and goes on vidio's. From u-tube, nbc, etc. When the sound goes off the vidio it is like you paused it, when I didn't. Any ideas what to do?
