Internet connection error with wrt54g

i have dsl with a 2wire modem. i connected the network cable from the modem to the 'internet' port on the router and the network cable that comes with router on port '1' and the other end of cable to the computer. when im installing it and the router is checking for an internet connection it says "router was not able to connect to the internet. turn off modem then on again and try it again" and it still doesn't work.
in the router the internet light is on so i dont know wats wrong. need help badly because im getting tired of this

it didnt work, once i did everything i opened the internet and it it showed an error page. this is what i did connect modem to router on the 'internet' port, connected other network router from computer to port 1, then i reset the router by pressing the reset button for like 10 sec, the disconnected the power adapters to both divices for about 20 sec and plugged them back in and when i opened the internet it didnt work. did i do anything wrong?

  • Cannot activate CS5.5 - internet connection error with Adobe servers + customer service non-existent

Just purchased CS5.5 and it works fine however I am not able to activate it. The program says I don't have an internet connection but I clearly do I as I am able to connect to all websites & email etc...
I have tried to contact customer support 6 times:
Contact 1: on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes after which I was disconnected
Contact 2: on hold for 35 minutes then told it was out of business hours
Contact 3: on hold for 45 minutes then someone picked up the phone and then hung up on me
Contact 4: on hold for 15 minutes then someone hung up on me
Contact 5: on hold for 5 minutes then someone spoke with me and told me to delete a "host" file in Windows32 folder on our system. This didn't fix the problem and then the support person simply hung up on me...
Contact 6: currently on hold for 55 minutes and still waiting...
What is happening at ADOBE? You used to be so reliable now I am not even able to get through to support? It is very worrying... I have no options available any more... what do I do?
PLEASE HELP PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I AM NOW PLEADING FOR SUPPORT!
    Richard

    Greetings everyone,
I started this thread. Since the thread was posted, my activation issue has dissappeared - HOW I do NOT know. As a last desparate attempt, I uninstalled Norton 360 completely and this might have helped, however I am not sure. Doing the "ping" of activate.adobe.com still doesn't work even with Norton 360 uninstalled and all firewalls switched off. It is very strange that I am not able to ping activate.adobe.com and get a 404 error on https://activate.adobe.com/test but my issue is resolved... strange this seems still to be unresolved.
In fact, I tested that URL and the Ping from over 8 different internet locations within Sydney (friends homes, offices, internet cafe etc) and NONE were successful. How does THAT make it a USER problem when NO ONE can access it???
An Adobe rep contacted me directly by email and supported me directly, which was fantastic, but didn't actually help as all the support he provided was exactly the same as what I had done with other support by phone at least 5 times with no success.
I organised a very skilled computer tech to assist me with my issue and he did everything he could to try and open ports and gain access for the activation but after 6 hours of trying his conclusion was "Adobe is having the issues, not the users".
This seems to be a big problem with Adobe at the moment and should not be.
    To Adobe:
I remind and highlight your responsibilities as a service/product provider, under the ACCC law:
    http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/961908
    As a customer:
"If a service fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy—either fixing the problem with the services, a refund or compensation for any drop in value from the original price paid—depending on the circumstances."
Amongst other information within that page, I bring your attention to the fact that this issue your users are experiencing would be considered a "Major failure":
There is a major failure when (as the customer):
"you would not have engaged the service if you had known the nature and extent of the problem."
"the service does not meet the reasonable expectations for that type of service, and the problem cannot be rectified within a reasonable time."
and lastly, who is to fix the problem:
"The guarantees are made by the person or business that is providing the service. This means the service provider is responsible for fixing a problem when the service does not meet a consumer guarantee."
The runarounds Adobe is creating for customer, and hours of "on-hold" resulting in little or no customer service, is simply unacceptable and, in fact, a breach of your responsibilities and the law. Adobe... you seem to forget that our businesses or services rely heavily on your software to learn, teach, conduct business or whatever it may be. Our time is precious and the hours wasted to fix issues that shouldn't be there in the first place cost us a non-trivial amount.
Although my issues have been resolved, I am still nervous as it may happen again - I have received no indication of any rectifications of the issue and it appears it is still a major failure with other customers, meaning it could happen to me again at any time.
I would, and so would the rest of the people with these issues, like to know what your steps are, at a higher management level, to fix it and make sure it does not happen any more.
I highly recommend that you escalate these issues as a matter of priority and get your best people onto it urgently.
In the hope of a positive outcome,
    Richard

  • Getting internet connection error with Photoshop Elements 12

I have recently downloaded and installed Elements 12 on my windows 8 PC. When I try to open any image with Photoshop Elements 12 Editor, I am asked to Sign In. However, when I click on Sign In button, I get internet connection errror though I am connected to internet. At the same time, other apps on my PC are able to access internet.

Check to be sure that PSE is allowed through the firewall. Incidentally, you need to stay signed in once you get it connected. That's the PSE 12 equivalent of activation and signing out will deactivate your computer.

  • Internet Connection problems with WRT54GS

I purchased this router to go online with my Wii and my PS3.  Extremely easy set up right out of the box and both systems were online within the hour.  However the router seems to be freezing up my internet connection.  Every 6 hours or so the lights on the front of the router freeze up and I can't access any websites.  I spoke to a guy at work who used to set up networks and he told me to unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in.  This seems to fix the problem and get me back online for about 6 hours.  It's not terrible, but it is kind of annoying to have to do this a couple of times a day.  It especially annoys the other people in my house (wife, kids) more than it does me.  They're used to having uniterrupted, fast internet service.  By the way I have DSL through ATT with never any problems before this.  Any suggestions?

I attempted to do this but when I get to the downloads section of linksys and input the model and type of my router and then click on firmware I get a window that comes up saying that it is a binary data file and no known program will open it.  If it attempt to save the file I can't open it anyway.  Any way around this?

  • "Could not connect to internet." error with 2.2 update

Ok, I updated my iPhone to 2.2 this morning. Ever since then, my internet access has been extremely spotty, and slow if I can get it at all. This only happens over my 3G connection (WiFi is not affected), and was not an issue this morning on the 2.1 version of my phone. I've restarted and reset the phone to no avail.
Any help in resolving this would really be helpful!

Add me to the list of people with internet connection problem with 3G after updating to firmware 2.2. In safari, under 3G a website would just load forever, sometimes showing the "cannot contact server" message. Under Wi-Fi and Edge, everything works fine. I have a white 16gb iphone 3G. I also updated my wife's white 16gb iphone 3G to firmware 2.2, and her phone does not have the same internet connection problem under 3G, everything seems to be working fine so far. Also spoke with a friend who also has a white 16gb 3G iphone and still using firmware 2.1. He mentioned that he's also been seeing more the the "cannot contact server" message with his safari under 3G. Maybe this is a AT&T problem?

  • AEBS and internet connection errors and dns errors.

    AEBS 7.3.2
It was running fine until I turned on my mybook one day like I had done several times before.
I received an error regarding a disk error with it. I could not find any problems though. But since then my AEBS has been having difficulty connecting to the internet. I can download via bit torrent, but not be able to surf the internet. I restart my internet connection, which involves turning off the power supply and restarting it, and I can surf the internet again. However, I receive a DNS server error, but everything seems to be fine, and I can surf the internet.
If I restart the AEBS it will not allow me to surf the internet, even though it says everything is fine. I can actually manage to go to google and do google searches, cant navigate away from there, but none the less new content. I have managed to download via Itunes and bit torrent but not surf to hot mail.com etc.
I know I can ignore it and the flashing amber light will go away, but that ignores the problem and doesn't fix anything. besides it still says I have an Internet connection error from day one. I dont't know why, and no ones been able to help with that.
    more info:
My isp uses a dynamic IP, so I have to use the automatic dhcp setting.
AEBS uses to go back to green light and automatically resolve the dns error, now not at all.
Please help, this is very frustrating.
    thanks

Bump, and of course I have set the message to ignore, which created a green light and now have 2 unresolved problem and internet works.
Still have the DNS server error, despite manually putting it in.
Still have internet connection error despite having a connection.
If I restart my airport extreme, the DNS message goes away, but does not allow me to access the internet through any web browser, but it works through one of my computers via bit torrent, but nothing else.
If I rest my internet connection I can access the internet, but recieve the DNS error. The internet connection error I have always had, for reasons unknown.
    Is the extreme broken?
I have done a factory reset on the airport and hard reset on the internet complete with the unplugging everything. My connection is stable according to my ISP, and I agree with them.
This seems to be a Airport extreme problem.

  • OS X LION 10.8.2 connection error with AFP

Ok the issue is that i tried to access my external harddrive over AFP with OS X LION and got a error message like this one above. I couldn’t login with a registered user .
We had the same problem in a earlier update but somehow got around it follwing the terminal commands from: http://www.alexanderwilde.com/2011/04/os-x-lion-connection-error-with-afp-and-wo rkaround/
But now after the update its back to be broken again...
    Please help!
    Thanks

Exactly the same problem here for a satellite user working abroad.
10.8.2 - cannot connect to the server over AFP. I've run the commands in the link posted, no dice.
Users running 10.8.2 on the internal LAN have no issues however, just this one off-site user.

  • WRT54Gs newbie: no internet connection error message

    Greetings,
I picked up a used WRT54Gs v7 and am tying to install it in my network.  I'm wanting to have another wireless access point other than our iMac.
After looking through the "Guide Me" here on this site, I was able to get the ethernet connection working so the iMac connects to the internet.  Although I can connect my laptop via the iMac's wireless point, I haven't been able to connect wirelessly to the WRT54Gs with either the laptop or my cell phone.  On the laptop, the error is "No Interntet Connection.".
It also feels like my internet connection is slower through the Linksys than it was through a "generic" switch.
So, since I'm a newbie, what should my troubleshooting look like in order determine if there are settings that need to be adjusted or if it's simply a bum unit?
    Thanks

Hi, how did you connect the WRT54GS router? Did you connect that router to a modem or to another router? How was that router configured? Is it acting as a DHCP server or just a plain switch? I would suggest that you upgrade the router’s firmware and to reset the router in order for the router to have a stable performance. You can then check on the link below for different ways on how you can configure your router.

  • Unable to connect to internet using DHCP with WRT54G behind ISA 2004

    Hello,
For starters, the Linksys WRT54G is located behind the ISA 2004 Sever firewall. The gateway for the LAN and internet segment is set at 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.1 for the WLAN segment on the ISA box. All the proper network rules and access rules have been created. If I set the adapter card on the lap top with a static IP, e.g. ip address as 192.168.2.3, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: 192.168.2.1 and primary DNS: 192.168.1.1 the lap top can connect to the internet through the WLAN segment. At this point the WRT54G is set for internet connection type as automatic configuration DHCP, local IP address as 192.168.2.2 subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 and DHCP server disabled
When using DHCP on the WRT54G by enabling it and setting the Starting IP address to 192.168.2.3, I cannot connect to the internet. When using the CMD prompt and doing a ipconfig /all this is the result
    I get       DHCP enabled: yes
                   Autoconfiguration Enabled: yes
                 IP Address: 192.168.2.3
                   Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
                   Default Gateway: 192.168.2.2
                   DHCP Server: 192.168.2.2
                   DNS Server: 192.168.2.2
Is it possible to configure the WRT54G so that the default gateway can be set? Each time I change the Local IP address of the WRT54G e.g. 192.168.2.10, the default gateway gets the same IP address.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Karl

In the 54g, setup an extra route to the other default gateway.
    ie; route 192.168.2.2 mask 255.255.255.2 gate 192.168.2.1

  • Internet connection sharing with a modem and WRT54G

I currently have dial-up at my location, I will have dsl when i move down the street in about 2-3 months. My question is, I would like to hook up my WRT54G router to my desktop computer that has a external modem hooked to it. I would like to be able to use my laptop from my shop location out in the backyard without having to tie myself into the computer in the house. How can I be able to use the wireless link between the laptop and the router and have it dial the modem on the desktop so I can access the internet out in the shop? I read that this can't be done if using dhcp. I can see both computers hard drives on each machine. Would anyone know of any software that would allow me do this? Thanks, Joseph

Configure WRT54G as access point only, so labtop can communicate with desktop that has Internet connection. Enable Internet Connection Sharing on desktop to share the Internet connection to labtop.
    Hope helps..

  • Connection error on wrt54g

i have a 2wire modem and have dsl internet. when i'm installing the program and it's checking for internet connection it tells me that i have a connection error and tells me to turn off my modem and turn it on again and it still doesn't work. I connected my modem cable to the wrt54g in the 1st opening and the blue cable that comes with the wrt54g on the "internet" opening and the other end to the harddrive and while it's set up like that i noticed that when i open internet a page opens saying that i have no internet. i need help, thanks

To set up the router, first you use an ethernet cable to connect your computer to one of the numbered ports on the WRT54G.  Do not connect the modem yet.  Then use the setup disk that came with the router.   Put the setup disk in the computer's CD drive.   Follow the instructions on the setup disk.   The setup disk will tell you when to connect your modem to the Internet port on the WRT54G.

pls help me to sort our this prob

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Are you making this selection on your device or when connected to the Desktop Software? If on your device, my advice is to stop...the on-device OTA update is, IMHO, dangerous. Rather, use the Desktop Software and then you can take a full backup to your computer, which will be forever preserved...the on-device update takes an on-device backup, but if anything goes wrong, that backup file is lost forever.
Please clarify exactly the steps you are taking to reach this error message. Also, please be sure to provide the exact and complete content of the error message.
    Thanks!

  • Cannot enable ePrint Web Services - get internet connection error for HP LaserJet 1102W

I have a HP laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.  We just changed over to Comcast internet service from AT&T where my HP LaserJet 1102W was set up for ePrint.  After several hours, I was finally able to add the 1102W printer to the Comcast network, access the Embedded Web Server tool and print wirelessly but I cannot set up ePrint.  I have deleted the printer but cannot get it to connect to Web Services.  I keep on getting:  Connection Error. Check Internet Connection but again, I can print wirelessly successfully to the printer but would like to be able to set it back up for ePrint.  My Comcast router is an Arris TG862.
I have updated the firmware and used the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool but still am not able to get the ePrint Web Services to connect.  Here is the information from the Networking page of the EWS:

    Hi Surf1981,
I understand that you're not able to enable web services on your printer.  I would try steps listed below.
    1. Open an internet browser type printer's IP address.
    2. Should bring you to the printer's status page.
    3. Select networking tab at the top.
    4. Left hand side select Network Identification.
    5. Under DNS address Configuration select Manual DNS Server.
    6. For Preferred enter 8.8.8.8
    7. For Alternate enter 8.8.4.4
    8. Select apply. You might get a warning saying this could interrupt connection that's fine.
    9. Turn printer off for about 30 seconds then try again.

  • 'Alert: No Internet Connection' Error when trying to connect to Wifi networks

    Hi,
I have a 13' MBP late 2012, reccently I've been unable to connect to any secured Wifi network after updating to the OSX 10.9.2,
    I've tried everything-
    - Restarting
    - Resetting the PRAM
    - an SMC reset
    - Restarting in Safe Mode
    - Repairing Hard Drive & Permissions in Disk Utility
    - And even reinstalling: Maverick OSX 10.9.2 (Combo) Update
    - I've even compared my laptops settings with my Sister's laptop who has also downloaded the update but does not have the same problem, they are all the same as far as I can see.
The problem is prevelant in every Wifi network I try to connect to, the only reason I am able to connect to the internet at all right now is that I've disabled the WEP key setting for my router.
It just keeps repeating the 'Alert: No Internet Connection' or a 'Connection Timeout' warning...
Any help would be greatly appriciated!
    Thanks
