Internet connection lost on Macbook Pro when PCs are connected.

Recently I running into very annoying problem, here it is:
I am using comcast cable internet, connected to Airport Extreme (802n) wan port via ethernet, I got 3 computers are using the same wireless network: one Macbook Pro and two PCs. If both PCs are off, I have no connection problems on Macbook Pro, but if either one of the PCs are on, the browsers on my Macbook Pro can't connect to internet, however, I can still receive emails on Macbook Pro. By the way, airport extreme are set to DHCP, all computers share one IP address. Airport extreme with most recent firmware 7.3.2 installed.
Any help are welcome and thank you in advance.

ddg57, Welcome to the discussion area!
By the way, airport extreme are set to DHCP, all computers share one IP address.
Each computer should have their own separate IP addresses. So I'm hoping that your statement above means:
(1) The AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) uses DHCP to get an IP address from the ISP.
(2) The AEBS is configured to share a single IP address (not bridging).
(3) The computers are configured to get an IP address via DHCP (via wireless).

On my new MacBook Pro when I am connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable, Facebook pictures do not load. They show up as white boxes with blue question marks. This also happens on a website editor. But, when I am connected to the internet via Wifi, everything load properly. This is my work computer, so I have to be able to connect through the Ethernet cable to access everything. Please help me!

I mostly use Safari. But I also tried it on Firefox, Mozilla, and Camino. Mac OS X. It's my work computer, so I've only tried it at the office. I have to be connected through the Ethernet cable to access my files and email on the server.

  • Wireless connection lost after macbook pro sleeps for more than 15 minutes

It's annoying. I have a brand new macbookpro 3.06Ghz 17" hi-res screen running OS-X 10.6.3 and the wireless connection keeps dropping after the computer is either turned off or sleeping for more than 15 minutes.
My router is a linksys wireless G, has dd-wrt software in it which is very powerful. When I release or renew the DHCP at the router, the mackbook connects to the wireless network, no problem.
What configuration can be done at the macbook as to not have it time-out airport wireless connections unless I renew/release DHCP at the router? This is an annoyance beyond the limits of anyone's patience.... Thanks in advance for any help!

Well, since nobody answered this post I decided to try a bunch of things and I believe I came to a solution:
1 - Make airport the first connection under System Preferences->Network
2 - In the advanced window:
    - Under AirPort: Keep only one network name on the list (the one you use all the time)
    - Select 'remember networks this computer has joined' and deselect all other boxes
    - Take note of the Airport ID (xx:xx:xx:xx:xx) and put it in your router's MAC address list. I do this because I only allow connections to my router from mac IDs that are on the list I create. In my case, I have my macbook pro and my PS3 system. If you don't know how to edit the MAC list in your router, do some research. It's pretty easy.
    - Under TCP/IP: Select "Using DHCP" on the IPv4 drop box
    - Select "Off" for IPV6 drop box
    - Under DNS, after you connect at least once, you should see (grayed out) your router's IP address on the left box and the domain on the right side box.
Finally, under "Ethernet" you should see your Mac address there, the configure option should be set to Automatically and MTU as standard (1500).
Press OK and then press "Apply" and lock that screen by clicking on the padlock at the bottom left. BTW on the top of this screen Location should be "Automatic" - if not, select it and apply.
Done! Your wireless should connect quickly after the computer is turned on or waken up from sleep state. This assumes you configured your router correctly (mac addresses, frequencies, etc).
Good Luck to all who try this - at least I have not have any more dropped wireless connections.

  • How do you connect picopix to MacBook Pro, How do you connect picopix to MacBook Pro

How do you connect a MacBook Pro to a picopix projector??

Does your new MacBook Pro have the retina display? if so you can get a HDMI to VGA adapter here- http://store.apple.com/us/product/HB416ZM/A/belkin-hdmi-to-vga-projector-adapter ?fnode=51
It's a bit pricey but should do the trick.

  • FCP 10.7 crashes (the whole Macbook Pro) when titles are added

I have a very frustrating problem with FCP.  Am on Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  8GB RAM. Was running 10.0.6 but have just upgraded to 10.0.7 - problem persists.  I have one video with titles included in it, put together before Nov 28th, that plays and Shares OK.  However, ever since about Nov 28th, every time I add a title to a video, it will (sometimes after a few seconds, but always when I try to Share it) crash both FCP and Finder.... I am left with a dead Mac (black screen and unresponsive) and have to force power off by holding down the power button.
Following all the available info on the net I have:
trashed the config files (using Preference manager)
moved out all extraneous Events and Projects (using Event Manager X)
cleared the render files from both the Project and the related Event
clicked on Revert to Original Layout
copied the referenced files onto the Mac Hard Drive (rather than a USB drive) - (yes, I know, I should have the Events, Projects and Media on a non-system drive, but I have no Firewire drive yet... one on order)
(probably some other tips that I have forgotten).
    None of this works.
If I add a new title to the 'clean' project (i.e. the one that still works OK with existing titles) then it gives the same problem again.
The fact that it is related to titles suggest to me that it might be font related, but I'm not sure how or why it has happened or how I can revert the system if I have somehow got a corrupt font set.
I do seem to have a hard drive problem in that after I have one of these crash errors, the disk ends up corrupted... as follows:
I can run the disk repair utility from the DVD and it fixes it again.   But after the next crash it will be back like this again.
Is this a sign that my hard drive is on its last legs, and this is just a symptom of this?  But if so, why is it only Final Cut X that is exhibiting problems?
Any guidance or suggestions from you FCX gurus out there very welcome.
    Thanks, bob.

OK - so I am now coming down to thinking that this is a MacBook hardware problem with either the graphics card or the graphics memory.   I have stripped the Mac down to basics by doing the following:
    1) erased hard drive
    2) reinstalled snow leopard (10.6.4)
    3) performed software update (==> 10.6.8)
    4) Installed Final Cut Pro at latest version (10.0.7)
    5) Put together simple series of vanilla Apple GIF pictures using 'Boogie Lights' title at the start.
It immediately crashed again with the same symptoms... blank screen and had to hard power off the Mac.   The following is the crash dump, and it references GEForce.  Is there any expert out there who can look at this and say 'Yep, looks like the hardware'....?   I can't see what else it could be given it is a clean install of everything.  It just seems strange that it is only FCX that seems to trigger it regularly (though I did have one other crash one other time while in Time Machine)...?
    Many thanks in advance....

  • Printing from MacBook Pro to a Printer Connected to the USB Port on A MacG5

    November 17, 2009
Apple Tells Me: It is completely valid to connect the HP 4360 printer (not wireless) to the USB Port of my MacG5 and print pages from my MacBook Pro if I select Print Share in the Apple Preferences of my MacG5. The MacBook Pro and MacG5 are connected through a Router and a wired Local Area Network through a Router.
HP Tells Me: Since the D4360 is not a wireless printer and since it is not supported to print from a MacBook Pro on the same wired local area network also connected to a MacG5 computer. In particular, they said that use of the Print Share option on the MacG5 to print from the MacBook Pro will cause damage to the HP D4360 printer or print driver and when this occurs it will invalidate the warranty on the HPD4360.
    Questions:
    1. Is there any validity to the HP answer on this subject??
My analysis to date says that the Apple statement is 100% true, with the exception that if the driver is damaged it can be restored without any damage to the printer.
    2. Is there any documentation of the HP concern?

Is there any validity to the HP answer on this subject?
No. It's very difficult for any software to damage a hardware component, and on the rare case the driver becomes damaged, which is also highly unlikely, it won't affect the printer's warranty.

  • Why wont my htc one connect to my macbook pro

I have been trying to connect my HTC One to my macbook pro, when i plug in my phone it doesnt have anything pop-up. I have tried restarting both the laptop and the phone. I have used differert USB cords, different USB ports, nothing has worked. I tried using HTC Sync Manager so i could transfer my iTunes music to my phone like I did when I first got my phone. That ended up not working, and so I tried doubletwist and that didn't work. The next thing I thought of was using bluetooth to just share the music files. I paired my phone and my macbook, but when I go to share a file it says that the device (my HTC One) would not accept the file. When I go to the bluetooth settings on my laptop, it just says the Bluetooth PAN is not connected and it won't connect.
All I am trying to do is transfer some iTunes songs from my MacBook Pro to my HTC One phone, which I have done once before but I cannot rememeber how I did it the first time. I don't know what the problem is but if I took a guess I would say that for some reason my phone just isn't connecting to the MacBook Pro when I plug it in. Please help!

I, too, am having the same problem, although with different circumstances. I just recently switched over from PC to Mac, but after installing the HTC Sync Manager, it does not recognize my phone. I also just want to add music to my phone, so I'm eager to hear if anyone knows what the problem is...

  • Macbook Pro suddenly will not connect to the internet via ethernet cable.

I know this is a long shot... but I figured I would give it a try.
My macbook pro suddenly does not connect to the internet via ethernet cable. Please bear with me, as I am not very tech-savvy - I will try my best to describe the symptoms!
I connect to the internet via ethernet (we don't have wifi). It was working before I went to work, and when I came home I suddenly couldn't get anything to work (I know everyone says this, but I truly didn't mess with anything). Internet browsers just think for awhile and then turn up the 'You are not connected to the internet' error.
I went into my network preferences and curiously, the 'Ethernet' shows a green dot and says 'connected'. However it says 'Authentication server is not responding' underneath the last part that says '802.1X: WPA: eduroam' (I think that is my user profile).
When I go into my 'security' settings I can see that my firewall is off, so that shouldn't be causing any problems.
I've tried restarting the router and computer itself many times. Diagnostics just gets to a certain point and reports back 'Network Diagnostics cannot fix the current networking problems.' I've also tried switching to a different ethernet cable, and I tried both cables out on a PC laptop and it connected without issue.  Additionally, I brought my macbook along to a friend's house and it connected to his wifi just fine, so the problem appears to just be with ethernet connections.
I know it's hard to troubleshoot this kind of thing without being there and having a look at the computer yourself, but any tips wouild be greatly appreciated.

As I mentioned above, I am not very tech savvy so I have no idea why a wireless protocol would be showing up there, I'm just listing everything I see in hopes that someone might know something I can try. This is why I am asking for help here - I'm not sure what has happened that has made me unable to connect, especially since it seemingly occured while nobody was using the computer.
I guess I should clarify that I'm not a total hillbilly- normally my firewall is set to 'on', but I set it to 'off' to try and troubleshoot the issues here as I was told that sometimes it can interfere with the computer's ability to connect to the internet. If this is not the case and firewall does not affect anything, I will turn it back on while I try to fix this.
I have tried the method you mentioned above a few times - I actually contacted my ISP earlier this week and they recommended resetting the router like that. They didn't mention any known network issues.

  • INTERNET CONNECTION FAILED ON MACBOOK PRO

Hello - Our MacBook Pro randomly doesn't connect to the Internet.  We know there isn't an issue with our service since our PC does not have any issues.  We get a page that states: You are not connected to the Internet.  This page cannot be displayed because your computer is offline.  2nd page: Network Port Configurations: Wi-Fi selected, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Settings, and ISP all have green dots, Network Settings: yellow dot, Internet and Server both say "failed" with red dots.  When I select continue button, I get this: Network Change Detected.
I don't understand how anything has changed, since we haven't changed anything...and again, this randomly happens only on the Mac, not on the PC!!  I'm sending this using our PC.
    Thank you!

I'm now on the MacBook....it's working again....

    18. What is the maximum resolution available for use with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter?
The resolution available with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter is 1920 x 1200. VGA displays that use higher refresh rates (such as 85 Hz) at resolutions of 1600 x 1200 or greater may not generate video properly until you lower the refresh rate.

    How can I detect displays?
If the detect displays option is not available, hold down the Option key while you are in the Display pane.
How do I select additional resolutions on my display?
You can use the Display pane of System Preferences to specify how your display works. Not all options appear for all display models. By default the best resolution for your display will already be selected in System Preferences.
To select a different resolution, use the Scaled option. Some additional resolutions may be available when you hold the Option button.
I hope this information helps ....

How come my macbook Pro doesn't automatically connect to my wifi when it is saved under known networks and i have the box checked under network settings?

    Random35,
does your wi-fi router filter access by MAC address? If it does, then have you added your MacBook Pro’s MAC address to your router’s whitelist of acceptable MAC addresses?
