Internet connection of Compact Fieldpoint controller
Hi all, I have this Compact Fieldpoint controller of cFP-2120, I need to make it stand-alone & also to be able to get my data directly from internet. Is there anyone who know's how to do it? Thanks=) For the controller's mannual I came across this sentence of "In order to configure the cFP-21xx, it must reside on the same subnet as the host PC. If you want to use the FP-21xx on a subnet other than the one the host PC is on, first connect and configure it on the same subnet as the host PC, then reassign a static IP address for the subnet where you want it to be
and physically move it to the other subnet." Do you all know what does it mean? Is this feature for stnad-alone or for internet connection?=)

You seem a little confused about networks, am I right?
The thing is that to configure your cFP, it must reside on the same subnet as your PC. I make an example: you can assign your PC a static IP address, example 192.168.168.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, then your cFP-2120 will have to be inside this subnet, that is 192.168.168.2 to 192.168.168.254. If you connect your PC to cFP-2120 through a cross ethernet cable, you can set your PC IP address to 192.168.168.1 and cFP-2120 to 192.168.168.2. With this gear, you configure, program, and test your cFP application.
If I understood your needs, you need to place the cFP-2120 remotely, and collect data over Internet, isn't that? If so, one way for doing this is activating a web server on the cFP-2120, for which you can find examples.
The next step is to be able to view your cFP-2120 remotely, because of course you can't keep IP addresses you used for configuring cFP-2120. When placed remotely, cFP-2120 will reside on a different LAN, I suppose, and you need to access it from your PC. Unfortunately, I have no experience on this, but I think that once you configure cFP-2120, create application, create the web server, then you can turn to remoting cFP-2120.

PoE switch and Compact Fieldpoint
Hello all... Is it possible to connect my Compact Field Point Controller to a PoE switch (Power over Ethernet Switch)??? This is because some other devices on the same subnet require PoE (IP cameras) and I wanted to know if this can cause some sort of problem with my Cfp... Should I connect the Compact Fieldpoint to a regular switch and connect that switch to the PoE switch??

Currently there are only certain products that support the PoE standard, unfortunately the cFP family is not one of them. The best you can do is connect your cFP to a switch and then to the PoE switch like you said and check if that works. Here is the document where the PoE and NI products are described:

Number of outputs in Compact Fieldpoint
Hello, all.
My name is Ng Oon-Ee, and I'm a student of Monash University Malaysia. I'm currently working with NI LabVIEW, utilizing Compact Fieldpoint. I have a simple question that I haven't been able to solve using either the forum search feature or through reading the documentation I have.
How many outputs are possible with Compact Fieldpoint (maximum number), also, how many outputs are there per module.
Thank you for answering what is probably a very inane question to most here.Each Compact FieldPoint Controller have have an 8 slot backplane, allowing up to 8 IO modules. The IO modules range from 4 to 16 channels each. Thus, you can have up to 128 IO module channels per controller. Additionally, the controllers have 4 User accessible LEDs and 5 digital lines for an extra 9 channels.
Compact FieldPoint controllers can communicate with each other, so you can have an embedded program in one controller that is controlling the IO on other controllers to get additional IO.

Slow Internet Connection Speeds caused by Ethernet Controller Driver
Problem: Internet connection speeds are 1/10 of available connection speed.
1. Problem statement is based on running speed tests at cnet, speedtest.net, and AT&T.
2. I am paying for 12 MBps down load speed but I only get about 1.5 MBps.
3. Other computers in household get 11+ MBps connected to the same ethernet cable and also different ethernet cables.
4. I traced the problem to the network controller driver.
5. I updated to the latest driver with no change in performance.
6. After some experimenting I found that if I re-install the driver after the computer is booted up, the internet connection down load speeds increase to 11+ MBpS (typically around 11.4 with maximum capability of 12)
I have assumed that the driver does not load properly the first time, but why? Or is there some other cause or setting that I have overlooked?

Compact Fieldpoint Reliability
Hi,
Up until today I was convinced that Compact Fieldpoint was the way to go on our new plant but I have read several posts on this forum about loosing network connections to the units and other horror stories which make me wonder about their reliability in the real world. Like most people we simply cannot afford to have to reboot occasionally, this is unacceptable.
Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad with running a Compact Fieldpoint system for long periods (months/years)?

Been running one cFP-2020 for over a year now. Have not had to reboot. Unit operates in a large test lab with multiple variable frequency drives and other tests that generate a lot of electrical noise. 3 more systems in the cue that will use cFP for long term testing. I did have one cFP-2120 fail after one day on the bench. Caused by failure of switching power supply in the controller. Unit was repaired and no further problems 1 year after repair.
The only other problems I've seen were self inflicted and fixed during development. -
Internet Connection Became Slow after Introduction of Cisco ASA 5505 to the Network
I configured a Cisco ASA 5505 (Version Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 7.2(3)

in transparent firewall mode and inserted after Cisco 1700 router. However, the internet connection became very slow and users are compaining that they cannot load any pages.

Internet Connection Problem on MSI K7N2-Delta-ILSR
Hi, recently I buy an MSI K7N2-Delta-ILSR.I have a problem when I was trying to connect to the Internet through my modem on WinXP Pro SP1. It bring me up an error message 678 ( The computer that was tried to connect did not respond...). I have also a second hard disk with Mel windows. On disk the disk with the Mel I don’t have any problem with the internet connection. All my settings are same on WInXP pro and Mel.I have checked I thousand times. My computer configuration is:

I pretty much get the same error as SiliconMan (The computer that was tried to connect did not respond...)
I ended up giving up on it for the time being, just using my SMC NIC. Would be quite interested in finding out what the problem is though.
Anyone else in the same boat?

Your problem is not the same, SiliconMan is trying to connect with a dial-up modem not LAN. Your problem sounds like it may be configuration, do a search on this post, I'm sure you will find people with onboard LAN troubles. It's hard to troubleshoot though since you didn't provide any info about your computer. Good Luck

[SOLVED-partly] Linux and no internet connection
Well, since mid November I have nothing but problems with my Arch Linux machine. I can't get any internet connection on that machine. I have a network at home with 2 windows machines (XP & Vista), a Windows 2003 server running as an Exchange server and DNS server and Domain controller and ps3, xbox 360 and Wii. The two windows machines run on a static IP, the ps3, xbox 360 and Wii run on dhcp. All machines run on LAN through a switch except the Wii it runs on wireless. Now my Arch Linux machine also runs on static IP set up as described in the installation guide via rc.conf, hosts and resolv.conf. As mentioned earlier since mid November I haven't been able to get any internet connection on that machine. I haven't changed anythnig in my setup on the machine or the network. when i start the machine for the first time during a day I actually do the get internet connection and network connection but if I restart then I lose it. I am not able to ping the gateway or the DNS server. I can get interrnet back again I turn off the machine and turn off the motherboard and let the machine cool off for 20 minutes. Then if I turn it on again I have internet again but if i'll have to restart then the problem reappears.
After two weeks with this issue I decided to get network card but that didn't help either I still had the problem. Then I simply bought a new machine (DELL Studio) and did a fresh installation of Arch and STILL the problem exists and it is driving me FREAKING CRAZY NOW!!! I tried to my machine on dhcp but still the same issue. internet on first boot, reboot no internet or network, shutdown machine and motherboard (unplug machine) --> internet again after waiting 20 minutes. None of my other machines running windows or the consoles have problems getting internet. I've tried to run distros on the machines (Ubuntu Live CD) but I have the same problem. I am very close to going back to windows and I REALLY don't want to (been using Linux since 2003) but this problem here is a show stopper/EPIC FAIL. I am very very happy with Arch Linux and really don't want to change distro either. I need suggestions now on what I can look for in order to find the problem. I've already changed network cards, bought a new machine and even bought new switch because we thought it might be the switch causing the problems (8 port switch) because turning off the switch would give me my internet back. Again it is only my Linux machine that is having the connection problems none of the other machines have those.
PLEASE HELP!!!

I didn't use the computer for like 30 minutes and when I did tried to open a browser nothing happended. I tried then to ping the gateway and the server but couldn't reach them. So I turned off the computer completely for 20 minutes and then I started again and chenged the DNS address from my server to the DNS addresses I get directly from my ISP. So I'm going around the server now and seems to work for now. This morning I could start the machine and restart it 2 times and every time I had internet. Hope this solves it for now, still don't understand what the problem is though.

We are setting up a new AD environment with one AD/DC running DNS services, and a secondary DNS server configured with secondary zone. The problem is that none of the machines in the the domain are getting GPO.
When I run a gpupdate /force from a machine, I get the following output:
"Updating Policy...

be generated once the machine gets connected to the domain controller and Group

To diagnose the failure, review the event log or run GPRESULT /H GPReport.html f
rom the command line to access information about Group Policy results."
While the system event log outputs the following:
"The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to a domain controller. This may be a transient condition. A success message would be generated once the machine gets connected to the domain controller and Group Policy
has succesfully processed. If you do not see a success message for several hours, then contact your administrator."
All the machines that were joined to the domain are able to resolve in forward and reverse lookups, ping the DC and ping each other so I dont understand how the error can be resolved.
Here are few things I have tried:
1. I came across this KB which checked ok for me: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/241515
2. Made a copy of the default GPO, applied to a OU with one machine, and made sure to remove any GPO links from above
3. Enabled the following two local Group policies on a test member:
GP slow link detection
Startup policy processing wait time
4. Modified firewall to allow everything on both member and DC
5. Verified DSN logs, SRV records, access to sysvol ( added authenticated users to sysvol)
I have yet to figure out the reason for this issue. Has anyone seen anything like this before?1. I checked the NIC, it only has one IP. and I followed your article. I set the primary DNS to its own IP and the secondary DNS to the loopback ip
2. This is a new DC and DNS server. I dont have old records yet. I also check the DNS event logs. No errors
3. I made sure the member server is pointing only to the only DC/DNS server

WiFi self assigned IP and no internet connection after OS & iTunes upgrade
I have two likely related issues that started as a direct result of upgrading to OS X 10.8.5 and/or iTunes 11:
Starting tonight, after upgrading my OS and iTunes I am no longer able to use Home Sharing between my iMac and Apple TV. Apple TV is logged in to my network and Home Sharing is on, on both devices (signed in to the same account), but Apple TV says Home Sharing is not connecting to my iMac. My iPhone 5 is also not showing a Home Sharing connection.
I've restarted both my iMac and Apple TV several times. Logged in and out several times. Turned Home Sharing off/on several times, power cycled and reset my network modem once.
While trouble shooting my Home Sharing connection I noticed that under my Network settings, Wi-Fi is yellow instead of green and reads "Self-Assigned IP... Wi-Fi has the self-assigned IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xx and will not be able to connect to the Internet.".
When I go back to Apple TV I've found that althought it's connectted to my iMac through WiFi and I can see my purchased movies I can't view them becasue there is no connection to the iTunes Store (no internet coinnection through WiFi). But my actual network connection on my iMac is just fine.
So it seems that my new OS or iTunes upgrade has caused my WiFi to no longer allow an internet connection across teh wireless network.
Can anybody here tell me why that would happen and how can I fix it?

If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. Continue if you find that Wi-Fi is faster with Bluetooth disabled.
From that same menu, select Open Bluetooth Preferences. If the box labeled Discoverable is checked, uncheck it. Click the Advanced button, and in the sheet that opens, uncheck the top three boxes, if any are checked. Click OK. Enable Bluetooth and test again.
If the application called "Bluetooth Setup Assistant" is running, quit it.
Step 4
This step will erase all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.

Internet Connect crash/Software Update won't open
I have a 500mhz G3 slot loading iMac running 10.3.9
About 2 weeks ago, after waking FrankenMac up from sleep mode, I noticed the Airport status symbol failed to appear in the menu bar (next to the volume/date&time etc).
Looking into my Network settings revealed that I was indeed still connected to the internet, via my Airport, all systems go. However, I noticed that "show airport status in menu bar" was unchecked, so I checked the box. Which apparently did jack squat b/c there's still no icon.
For the last couple weeks, as long as I've been connected to the internet, I could really give a flying flip about whether the airport status icon is there or not. I mean, seriously. I know this computer is a little old so why rock the boat on something trivial?
Until today. Today I was determined to figure out where the icon is, why it went away and if there are any other underlying problems.
I started first with Internet connect. Applications->Internet Connect, clicked on the purple IC button, only to have it launch in the dock, bounce once, then quit.

I attempted to open Software Update next to see if there was something critical (ha!) I might be missing. Apple menu->software update and it was a repeat performance of Internet Connect, except this time I wouldn't even get so much as the Software Update icon in the dock. The dock would move everything to the left, as if it was going to open, then....nothing.
*Software update was working as of 6/14*, when I updated (perhaps foolishly) to Quicktime 7.5.

This ridiculously long post boils down to 2 questions, really.
• Any ideas why Internet Connect and Software Update won't open and how to fix?

I've run Disk Utility, repaired permissions and the HD checks out fine. I'm just at a loss (not surprising, given my limited amount of fix-it-yerself knowledge)

How to install "Compact FieldPoint Embedded Data Logger Example Program" on cfp2200
i finally managed to get max to see the devices of my cfp2200.
(i had to disable every unused networkadapter due to overlapping subnets)
now i want to deploy the example programm "Compact FieldPoint Embedded Data Logger Example Program"

i therefor have tried to install the runtime 8.5 on the target. however this is not possble, because i have labview 2010 installed and it gives the message:
"the host has a newer version available"
ok. runtime 2010 should work to - not?
i open a new project - import my *.iak-file and drag-n-drop the content of "cfp_data_logger_source.zip" onto the target.
now if i open the file cFPEmbeddedDataLogger.vi the run-button is cracked and by pressing it an errorlist opens.
the errors say stuff like:
target does not support this function/subvi
and
vi has been modified with a different applicationinstance
please help me to make this work.
i know that it is possible to get the programm to run on the cfp2200 even dough it is primaly designed for the cFP-2000, cFP-2010, cFP-2020, cFP-2100, cFP-2110,

Digital "Pause" Line
The Digital Input item to use as a "pause" button for data logging. Logging pauses when the signal is high. When the signal goes low again, a new file is created and logging continues if appropriate.
Note: Use only Digital Input items for the Digital "Pause" Line.
Tip: You can use DIP Switch 3 to block the current data from being logged. This switch works the same way as the Digital "Pause" line.

When i open my macbook pro the wifi connect but says no internet connection
Every time i close my Macbook Pro (early 2011 model running OSX Lion) then open it back up the wifi will connect to the right network but says i have no internet connection this lasts for about 5-10 minutes then the internet will finally work. i know it's not the router cause im connected on my phone and on other computers and they work just fine. is this something internal or something with the software?

I am having problems with my MSI KT4V motherboard and the internet connection.
When any USB device is connected to the computer and I try to connect to the internet Via ISDN the computer dails and connects to the server but the connection is not confirmed as the daten transfer is blocked.
When the USB device is disconnected it works OK.

Have you ever connected to the internet through some sort of usb adapter? There may be some lingering hardware and it may be conflicting with your current connection. Try all available USB ports? Got the current drivers for said hardware(isdn card, usb device)?

[Solved]Can`t create internet connection
I`ve installed arch linux on my lenovo y550, but, because I was too sleepy to think yesterday so I didn`t configure the /etc/rc.conf and /etc/resolv.conf file (I installed from CD). All in all i`ve got neither wired nor wireless connection to the internet (everything works fine on windows 7, the same laptop). I think the problem is there are no proper drivers. After typing
/sbin/ifconfig
I only get the lo, no eth0. I`ve configured the web connection on my PC 2 years ago, the same router and web provider, but I didn`t have any problems then, so I guess it must laptop issue.

thx karol for solution. add this in your /etc/rc,local
modprobe -r tg3
modprobe broadcom
modprobe tg3
and add dbus in daemons. Also, while installing archlinux, you can find iwlwifi 1000 series in additional packages on cd (necessary for wireless connection)
