Internet explorer 11 deployment

Hi All,
Our organisation has decide to upgrade the Internet explorer from 9 to 11. Currently IE 9 is installed on Windows 7 SP1 machines.
We are planning to deploy it Via SCCM 2012, and from AD front we have mullti domain.
So would like to know more about enterprise mode activation via group policy on multi domain. Any links or article which can help me for deployment of IE11, would be helpful.

  • After Internet Explorer 11 Deployment The client make "Force" Restart

    Hello,
I have created an application Deployment of Internet explorer 11.
i created a MSI package using "internet explorer customization wizard 11" ( In the restart Option I chose: " No restart")
in the deployment of the application i unchecked  the " System Restart".
Although of all that ,the user still get "Force" restart at the end of the deployment (installation).
There is any explanation to that Restart Action ?
    Thanks And Regards,
    Ariel Wainberg.

Just because you told ConfigMgr not to restart doesn't mean the command-line you are running won't force a restart. All ConfigMgr does is run the command you give it -- whatever that command-line does, is up to that command-line and beyond that explicit
    control of ConfigMgr.
When you say the user is getting a forced restart, what does that mean? Does the ConfigMgr restart countdown show or does the system simply restart?

  • Internet Explorer 10 / 11 breaks Microsoft's group policies for proxy exceptions?

At one of our larger sites we've started experiencing a major issue with one of our collaborative web servers in that piles of users whose systems have automatically updated to Internet Explorer 10 are not adding the sites we've deployed via group policy
to the proxy exceptions to their proxy exceptions (Internet Options | Connections | LAN settings | Advanced).
So basically we deploy a number of subnets and domain names to our proxy exceptions list and after our support center blew up with calls concerning random issues, I had the admins compile a list of affected and unaffected systems contrasting various items
and we noticed the one similarity was Internet Explorer 10. Thousands of unaffected systems have Internet Explorer 8 / 9 while all those affected have Internet Explorer 10.
Is there a new way to deploy proxy exceptions? We thought about forcing them down via registry keys but felt there must be a less obtrusive method and maybe something is wrong.

    Hi,
Did you configure these original settings with IEM?
Any settings that you previously configured with IEM will no longer work on computers where Internet Explorer 10 or newer is installed, regardless of the Windows version it’s been installed on.
You can configure the proxy settings with “Internet Settings Group Policy Preferences” or on the
Proxy Settings page of IEAK 10.

  • Internet Explorer 11 Add-on Development & Deployment(Installation) using C#/Javascript

    Hi,
I need some help to create Internet Explorer 11 Add-on to customize context menu item and Toolbar items. However I have created one class library using C#.net to add the context menu but do not know how this will be display in the IE Manage add-ons screen.
I have followed below links to add context menu item but it does not display as IE Add-on in the Manage Add-Ons window.
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/23536/Creating-and-Installing-Internet-Explorer-Context
Please provide any sample which describes the add-on creation and installation(Deployment on IE 11) using C#/Javascript
    Appreciate your help.
    Many Thanks
    Himanshu Bhargav

Do you mean your add-on works well but don't display as IE Add-on in the Manage Add-Ons window?
Add-on usually is a BHO or ActiveX control as a dll file. if your add-on has been registered in the registry, IE should be able to find it and display it  in add-on managed window.

  • GP Prefs deploying Internet Explorer (ver,9, 10 or 11) Favs

    Hello,
I've got over 60 favorites (URLs) to deploy to Windows 7 Prof. machines. Several different folders contain the different Internet Explorer Favorites, ie. FOLDER1\link1, link2, etc. FOLDER2\link1, link2, etc. They deploy fine to any of the 3 versions of IE,
however, I cannot determine a few things. First I can't get my FOLDER(s) to appear at the top of the Favorites menu (used to be easy to configure this). Second, some Favorites are not sorting alphabetically and last, if I delete a Favorite, the Group Policy
Preferences will re-deploy it, but again not sorted alphabetically, it will appear at the bottom of my list. Anyone have a solution to any of these?
    Much appreciated!

    Hi dirmin,
According to your description, you countered some issues when you deployed Internet Explorer Favorities via Group policy:
You can't get my FOLDER(s) to appear at the top of the Favorites menu.
Some Favorites are not sorting alphabetically and last, if you delete a Favorite, the Group Policy Preferences will re-deploy it, but again not sorted alphabetically, it will appear at the bottom of your list.
Before going further, it would be helpful if you could help tp commect the following information:
What did you mean by the first question? Did you mean you wanted the deployed folder to appear at the top? And you said, this is used to be easy to configure, then what did you do in the past?
Did you mean you would like to all the folder or only some folder to be sorted alphabetically?
Please check the folder and run gpupdate /force to update the group policy after you deleted a Favorite.

  • Deploy Internet explorer 11 with latest updates using SCCM 2012

    Hello,
I'd like deploy IE11 with the latest updates included. The reason is that I want the IE 11 enterprise mode to be available as soon as IE11 gets installed.
I don't want to wait an update scan cycle to trigger the installation of the updates.
What is the best way to achieve that using SCCM 2012 ?
    Regards,
    Michel

    Hi,
You have to capture the installation package with latest update by using IEAK 11 on the computer which has the IE11 with this feature.
    GP to enable this feature:
Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Let users turn on and use Enterprise Mode from the Tools menu
This is only for Windows 7 computer.
As I mentioned above, for Windows 8.1, we can only deploy Windows 8.1 update 1 to add this feature to IE11, since there is no separated update can be installed for IE11 on Windows 8.1 to implement this.

  • SSRS Report Data Caching Problem in Internet Explorer

    HI All,
We have setup reporting server in native mode and have deployed SSRS reports on reporting server and mapped it to sharepoint page with report viewer web part.
The changes on the data is not getting reflected on the report unless I close the browser completely and reopen the URL but at the same time for other rdl reportr, data is getting changed on same brower. so it doesn't seems to be the browser issue (not sure).
Also the both reports are almost same.
Any Idea Guys...whats happening with the report or how I can make it work to refresh data properly. I already have tried "Auto Refresh" option in rdl and it refreshes the browser but data doesn't gets refreshed. Also I had deleted cookies, clear the cache
but it also did not work for me.
Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nipendra Garg

    Hi Nipendra Garg,
This might be caused by the refresh behavior of Internet Explorer. When visit a webpage with the same URL, IE may use an old version of this page which stored in browsing history.
If you're calling the report from a URL, add &rs:ClearSession=True. This will cause the browser to refresh the report every time it's called.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,
    Eileen

  • Internet Explorer - Memory Usage

    Hi,
I have developed a VC model and deployed it in the portal. When i execute the model in internet explorer 7 or 6, the memory usage keeps building up and does not drop even after getting all the data. I have got couple of popup iviews in the model which when executed increases the memory usage further more and eventually internet explorer stops responding.
Currently the only way to clear the memory is to close the Internet explorer window. Is there any other way to flush out the memory after the data has been retrieved from the back-end.
    Regards,
    Ravi.

    Hi Ravi,
I googled in and found few links which can be helpful to you.

  • "Open method of Workbooks class failed" when opening Excel file via Internet Explorer

(apologies, I posted this first to the general Office 2010 forum, but then realized this was probably a better spot to post)
We have an Excel COM add-in installed on users' PCs.  This add-in responds to workbook open events by opening a particular XLA file (also deployed to the PC) to make certain features available.  This process works flawlessly when Excel files are
opened locally - but when a user attempts to open an Excel file from an IE link, we get the following error: "Open method of Workbooks class failed".  This is happening on the line that is trying to open the XLA file.  This only happens
when launching an Excel link from IE - works fine in Chrome or Firefox.
I have found several posts on this topic, but no solutions:
    1. This post (https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/office/en-US/73c96005-84af-4648-b103-32b677205be3/open-method-of-workbooks-class-failed)
is the closest to our problem.  In this case, the "answer" was that the user may not have access to the 2nd workbook being opened.  But in our case, we're opening an XLA that is on the local machine, and I've confirmed that it is not
corrupt and accessible (read & write, just in case!) to Everyone.
    2. This (very old) post (http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/open-method-workbooks-fails-excel-hosted-ie-t965608.html)
seems similar, but is talking about opening Excel inside of IE.  This is not what we're doing - the link is supposed to (and does) open Excel outside of IE.  Interestingly, Excel.exe is being launched with the "-embedded" flag, even
though it isn't running in the IE window.  When launching Excel by opening the file locally, Excel.exe is run with the "/dde" flag instead.  Clearly the "-embedded" mode is what is causing the problem.  I could change the
links on the web page to use some JavaScript to open Excel differently... unfortunately, the links are actually generated by SharePoint (the Excel files are in a SP repository), so this is not really an option.
    3. This Microsoft KB article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/268016) talks about problems opening an XLA directly from IE... but this is the case of a link pointing
directly to an XLA file, not opening a regular workbook that in turn opens an XLA, as is my case.  In fact, this article specifically points out in the "More Information" section that "End users do not normally open XLAs; instead they open
an XLS that (if needed) loads one or more XLAs during startup." ==> precisely what I'm trying to do that is giving me the error!
I've replicated the situation with a very simple COM add-in (created in VS2010 using VB.Net) and a very simple XLA file (does nothing, just pops up a message in auto_open).  For anyone wanting to try it out, here is the exact test case:
    1. In Excel, create a simple XLA file containing only the following code, and save it in C:\TEMP\dummy.xla:
    Sub Auto_Open()
    MsgBox "Auto Open fired"
    End Sub
    2. In Visual Studio, create a new Excel 2010 Add-In.  I created mine via Visual Basic, but I doubt the choice of language matters.  Place the following code in ThisAddin.vb:
    Public Class ThisAddIn
Private Sub ThisAddIn_Startup(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Startup
    AddHandler Me.Application.WorkbookOpen, AddressOf Application_WorkbookOpen
    End Sub
Private Sub ThisAddIn_Shutdown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Shutdown
    End Sub
    Sub Application_WorkbookOpen(ByVal workbook As Excel.Workbook)
    On Error GoTo ErrHandler
    If (Not workbook.Name.Contains("dummy.xla")) Then
    MsgBox("Workbook open")
    Application.Workbooks.Open("C:\temp\dummy.xla")
    Application.Workbooks("dummy.xla").RunAutoMacros(Excel.XlRunAutoMacro.xlAutoOpen)
    End If
    Exit Sub
    ErrHandler:
    MsgBox(Err.Description)
    End Sub
    End Class
    3. Build & publish this add-in and install it on the same machine as the XLA created in step 1.
    4. Create and save an empty Excel workbook (I called mine WayneTest1.xlsx) - save it locally (on your desktop), and put a copy somewhere on your web server (I put mine directly in c:\inetpub).
    5. Create an HTML file with a link to that workbook, saving it to the same web server location - here is mine:
    <html>
    <body>
    <a href="WayneTest1.xlsx">Link to Excel file</a>
    </body>
    </html>
    6. Double click the workbook on your desktop (from step 4) - opens fine, I get the "workbook open" message, following by the "Auto Open fired" message.
    7. In Internet Explorer, navigate to the HTML file specified in step 5 and click on the link - when prompted, select "Open" - I get the "workbook open" message, following by the error message "Open method of Workbooks class failed".
Here are a few things I've ruled out / tried so far:
    - Unchecked all the "Protected View" settings in Excel, made no difference
    - Unchecked all the "File block settings" in Excel, made no difference
    - Made sure dummy.xla was open for read & write to Everyone
    - Made sure the web page was in Trusted sites and set the security level to Low for those sites in IE
    - Tried making the local desktop file (step 6) readonly, made no difference (i.e. launching it locally still worked fine)
    - Tried using Excel 2013 - made no difference
    Any ideas / suggestions?

  • Authentication issues on Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 8 (Crystal 2008)

    Hi,
We are in the process of migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 (with Internet Explorer 8).
I have noticed that a web application which depends on Crystal 2008 is behaving differently in the new environment. For example, when I try to load a report I get this error:
Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.
I know that this error can be caused by a permissions problem on the Windows temp folder, and I know there are various ways of pinpointing the exact permissions problem and various ways of resolving if that's the case. The fix that worked for us in Windows XP does not seem to work in Windows 7. My gut feeling is that IE is passing credential in some way differently from how it did before.
Since many aspects of security are so different in Windows 7 compared with XP, I was hoping to find some general guidelines from SAP/Crystal re: how to deploy or configure the client/server in this environment.
Are there any general guidelines available?
Thank you for any help... shannon

    Hi Shannon,
Not really, CR assumes it can access all of it's dependencies so it is a permission issue. Other than the usual config issues with IIS, full access to the      emp folder, full permissions on the Viewer folder, setting the framework in App pool correctly, etc.
Do you have Service Pack 3 installed for Cr 2008 and the latest Fix Pack 3.5?

  • "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater"

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater is the error that jumps up when I try installing it. Currently this system is running Internet Explorer 7 which is installed at it's default location. Any clues what can have gone wrong?
    Version 7.0.5730.13
    Build 75730
Program path C:\Program\Internet Explorer (Swedish computer)
    Language Engelska (USA)

I came upon this post after receiving this error message when trying to install Acrobat 9. In my case, we deploy Acrobat from an Administrative Installation Point (AIP) using Group Policy. I believe the user at this computer pulled the plug while the group policy deployment was taking place. I got the error when trying to install the program manually afterwards.
I was able to rectify the issue by running msiexec.exe against the MSI in the AIP with the /x switch, performing an uninstall:
    msiexec /x \\server\deploy\AcrobatStandard9\acrostan.msi
(The program was not showing up in Add/Remove programs, otherwise I would have tried uninstalling from there.) After that, the install proceeded successfully.
    Hope this helps someone.

    I'm already running IE 6.0 -- 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2

I'm having the same issue. Our environment is Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8. Deploying with AD or manual install give the same error message. The registry and IE8 both report the correct version.

  • Adobe reader 9.4.0 requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater

    Hello,
I have a user who has reported Adobe Reader was not installed on his PC, which we complete via GPO as default for all our computers, and has never been an issue (WinXP and Win7 (x64) ).  When attempting to install the reader manually, I received "Adobe reader 9.4.0 requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater"  This is a Win7 box.  It comes with IE 8!  Can anyone point me to the registry path the installer is looking for to determine the version of IE?  I've checked HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer and verified both "Version" and "W2kVersion" read 8.0.7601.17514.
I realize Reader X is available.  We're not ready to deploy it yet.  So any suggestion other than simply "install Reader X"  is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks for your time.

I know I'm considerably late to the reply here, but I had the same issue with a Reader X install done via GPO.  This may be relavent info for the future, and may work for Reader 9 as well
I read that someone had tried running the command line uninstall for an older version of reader, as it seemed to have not been removed completely.  I threw together a batch file to attempt to remove all the reader installs we had available along with the font packs.  Some of the font packs won't remove unless reader is present, so it re-installs the latest reader, removes the font packs again (to get whatever it missed) then reloads the font packs.
So far this approach is 1 for 1.  Hopefully it helps out if you still need it.

    Thanks for your reply Shay.
We plan to officially support IE8 with the next patch release to JDeveloper 11g - currently planned for later this year. That matches what I wrote in my initial post in this forum thread about IE8 support.
We usually only certify browsers after they officially go production. That does not really answer my question (q1) in this forum thread.
It is more like, how can I assess that Oracle will support any successor(s) of IE8 or successor(s) of any currently supported browsers for ADF 11g applications in the future? How long will Oracle support "commonly used browsers" for an ADF 11g application I build today, so how long will I be able to use that application?
How do I answer such questions for ADF 11g applications that should be deployed on the internet (where, as some extranet environments, you typically have not that much (or no) control over which browsers your users use ... although some would like to argue with that, see forum thread "ADF Faces RC browser support and browser market share")?
(By the way, do you have any feedback for the forum thread "ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8"?)

  • How to remove Open/Save prompt when using Internet Explorer

Acrobat XI Pro was deployed with custom MST that had When using Internet Explorer prompt for Open/Save.  Is there a hack that will disable this prompt without having to re-install Acrobat XI Pro?

An engineer gave me a possible solution, but I don't have permission on my machine to test it. You can try the following:
    -- snip --
This is because of not having necessary permissions to edit the registry. To obtain the permission, follow following steps:
Right click on “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroPDF.FDF.1” and click permissions.
    On permissions dialog, click Advanced.
In the new dialog, select Owner tab and make current user as owner.
Click Apply and close the dialog.
    Close the permission dialog.
Try editing the registry as suggested.
