Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) compatibility view

I am running more than 50 websites on a shared IIS 7.5 server in the live production environment. Recently the client machines received the Windows 8.1 update and it is giving compatibility issues to many website URLs.
It will be not an immediate solution to fix them through code modification as many of them are third party products and will take time.
As an intermediate solution, can I enable the compatibility mode using HTTP Headers in IIS 7.5? If that is the case what IIS config change I have to make it work in IE 11?
Please help...

Hi sebinjoz,
What 's your current situation?
Have you tried to use the Emulation tool in F12 developer tools?
We could change the mode of Internet Explorer to version 5,7,8,9 and 10.

Hi headshot, <br /> Sorry you are having problems.
Are you seeing any error message or notification ? <br />If so what ?
If the page fails to load try clearing Reloading with the Ctrl F5 shortcut to force loading without the old new cached files. If that does not help try cache and clearing cookies for that site.
    * Also see [[Websites don't load - troubleshoot and fix error messages]]
    * [[Delete cookies to remove the information websites have stored on your computer#w_delete-cookies-for-a-single-site]]_delete-cookies-for-a-single-site
Reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using '''one''' of the following steps:
*Hold down the ''Shift'' key and click the ''Reload'' button with a left click.
    OR
*Press ''Ctrl'' + ''F5'' or ''Ctrl'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Windows and Linux)
    *Press ''Command'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Mac)
Let us know if this solves the issues you are having.
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

  • View/Resolution/Font is incredibly small resulting in web pages not displaying properly (Facebook) & I can not find internet tools options or compatibility view otions

I've tried different things to adjust this problem on my laptop, but nothing is working. I uninstalled firefox because this was very irritating. I just reinstalled after being away for 2months and the problem still exists. My laptop settings are for normal display and font sizes and everything is normal when I use internet explorer, but when I use firefox...everything shrinks. When I'm on facebook using apps...it gets even smaller and app screens will not display properly. There is no internet options or compatibility view settings on this new firefox that I can find and I'm out of ideas on how to fix this.

    See this: <br />
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Page+Zoom
The Firefox Page Zoom feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox.
Try the Default FullZoom Level extension: <br />

Or the NoSquint extension: <br />

  • Crystal Reports, Classical ASP and Internet Explorer 8.0 compatibility

    Hi
We have 8 legacy applications which are developed on classical asp having reports built on crystal reports 8.0. Our internet explorer version is 6.0. We are planning to upgrade to IE 8.0 in the next month. While testing these legacy applications for compatibility with IE 8.0, we found that the crystal reports are not visible/not functioning.
Do you know which version of crystal reports will be compatible with IE 8.0 as well as classical asp. Our OS is windows 2003 32 bit.
    regards

    Hello,
You didn't indicate whether you're using the RDC / COM SDK for Crystal Reports, or the COM SDK for Crystal Enterprise in your classic ASP applications.
In either case, the COM SDKs have been retired with our current product releases. The last products to support the COM SDK are Crystal Reports XI Release 2 (v11.5) and BusinessObjects Enterprise Release 2 (v11.5). Both of these products have reached End of Life for patch support.
The [Supported Platform document for Crystal Reports XI R2 with Service Pack 6|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/e0fbebaf-07e0-2c10-ad9a-d45810ae7109] (v11.5) says that IE8 in compatibility mode is supported, so the RDC should work in IE8 Compatibility mode.
The [Support Platform document for BusinessObjects XI R2 with Service Pack 6|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/50e8f572-48d0-2c10-4ea6-83bf8567e28a] (v11.5) says that IE7 is supported. There is no mention of IE8, but it's possible that IE8 in compatibility mode may work with the Enterprise COM SDK.
You may still be able to purchase these products. You'll have to check with your retailers, or with the SAP BusinessObjects Sales team - search on SAP.com.
It is important to understand that patch support has ended for both CR XI R2 and BOE XI R2. There will be no additional fixes released for these products, and if your applications do not work with IE 8 there is no escalation path for a fix.
    Sincerely,
    Dan Kelleher

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
If you have IE9 or IE10, please make sure ActiveX Filtering is disabled (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968)

  • I want it install Internet explore so I can view the web pages I am creating, but why can I not install it from Firefox?

I have downloaded IE twice and each time it says it has installed it and that I need to restart my PC but there is no sign of IE. Does Firefox prevent the installation?

Did you download and save the IE installer to a folder on your computer (desktop)?
It is possible that security (anti-virus) software is interfering.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • Internet Explorer 9 webpages with flash screwed up

I am having problems loading flash content in IE 9 since I got that browser update. I use Windows 7 64 bit. For the following I use the 32bit internet explorer 9.0.8112.16421
Webpages containing flash content are totally screwed up, for example this page www.vol.at
On loading such pages a message is displayed saying that internet explorer switches into compatibility view due to a display problem.
This occurs even on the page http://get.adobe.com/de/flashplayer/
On the page http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ on the other hand it says "You have version 10,3,181,16 installed"
When uninstalling IE 9 and returning to IE 8 there is no problem.
With firefox 4.0.1 there is no problem at all.
Moreover the "Skype Home" tab of skype 5.3.0.116 is screwed up a similar way to the picture above.
I already tried to reset IE 9 and clear all user data (interestingly this seemed to work for some pages) and I switched off hardware acceleration in IE9

I just got it solved. The actual problem is not flash player, but the old Type-1 font "Helvetica". I just tested with pages containing flash content.
Unbelievable, but true. See http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie9-windows_7/internet-explorer-9-wont-display -some-websites/8f4e6cad-3c4f-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5

  • Internet Explorer not allowing others to view Updates from my webpage done via Firefox

I have recently discovered that people who use Internet Explorer are unable to view any updates that I do to my webpage. I use Firefox as a browser. Are you able to enlighten me on what to do?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== seems to have started about a month ago as far as I can tell ==
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; InfoPath.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)

The problem conceivably could be with codecs or video card drivers that are no longer compatible and need updating. A temporary workaround may be to try older versions of Firefox or FlashPlayer. There are possibly other related posts such as [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/790188 this one].
You may also find information on the Adobe forums. Another consideration is FlashPlayer's use of hardware acceleration which you may need to turn on or off for better compatability. That is likely to be discussed on youtube/google's own forums and the Adobe Forums such as [http://forums.adobe.com/message/3509262 this post]

  • Step by step guide says I have Internet Explorer 7...

I decided to get prepared for the forthcoming change from BT Yahoo Mail to BT Mail.  From what I read in this forum  it could turn out to be a traumatic experience.
As a result of reading one of the posts I decided to change My BT id and My BT password to those I use for BT Mail. I hope that avoids one of the problems.
A problem that has arisen as a result of going through the step by step guide is the statement 'We've noticed that you are using Internet Explorer 7 to view this page. BT Mail does not support Internet Explorer 7.'.
I have Internet Explorer 9. I can see this has being one of those frustrating situations where I will not be able to progress because of some software glitch.
Has anybody else had this problem and is there a way around it? I don't want this to prevent me from accessing my mail.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'd just add - recent versions of Internet Explorer have a "compatibility mode" to allow new versions of IE to work properly with old web sites that were designed to work with the quirky non-standard behaviour of old versions of IE.
However, if you accidentally leave that turned on, then some new web sites may detect that your browser is acting like an old version of IE, and display warning messages to say that your browser is obsolete.
The control for this feature is a little icon that looks like a sheet of paper torn in half.

  • Business Obeject XI 3.1 SP4 and Internet Explorer 8

    Hi,
The Business Objects XI3.1 SP4 what's new notes specify Browser support as below
    Browser support
SAP Business Objects applications that are viewed in a browser support Microsoft Internet Explorer 8
in Compatibility mode only. Browsers running in Explorer 8 Standard mode are automatically switched
to Compatibility mode when applications such as InfoView or the CMC are launched. Upon exiting the
application, a browser reverts automatically to Internet Explorer 8 Standard mode. No user intervention
is required to switch from one mode to another.
Has anyone experienced issues running\editing webI reports using Infoview or OpenDocument in a corporate environment. Are there any known issues with using IE8 with SP4
    Kindly advice.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Piyush Pansare

There are no real problems between IE8 and BI4 that I am aware of. By far the most 2 common problems with IE8 are if you don't use 'Compatibility Mode' or if your 'Zoom' is greater or less than 100%.
With default IE8 settings, there's no issue, perhaps someone has blocked or disallowed certain Java scripts, applets, etc etc?

  • Printing from websites using Internet Explorer

I use Internet Explorer and have an HP Photosmart 7350 printer.  Whenever I print a page from a website, the print is extremely small.  Is there a solution to this other than to copy and paste the page to Word and adjust the font there?

That's a bug in the Adobe installer which seems to think IE10 is IE1.
Either put IE10 into IE9 or lower mode using Compatibility View.
    http://techathlon.com/internet-explorer-10-run-compatibility-mode/
Or simply use a different browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox.

  • Adobe Reader XI hangs Internet Explorer!

We support several clients and as each PC upgrades to Adobe Reader XI it breaks the IE Add-On (view in browser) capability.
The pdf starts to download, pops up in the browser, and then in about 5-10 seconds hangs until it times out (45 minutes later).
IE then throws up the error "A network error occurred while accessing this document on the Internet. Would you like to close the document or reload it?"
If the user downloads the pdf it works; if the user uses Chrome or FF it works!  Have tried disabling the "Fast View".  It just then allows me to see when it stops downloading.
I have tried Windows XP, Win7 & Win8 and different versions of IE and they all fail!
I am seeing this across all my clients!
Sometimes, if I disable the Add-on it will then download and open it in Adobe Reader but sometimes (haven't figured out the exact combination but IE9 & Win 7 fails) even though it's disabled, it still opens it in the browser and hangs.
I created a GPO that disables the Add-n but it continues to try to open it in the IE browser.
    Help!

We've been testing this some more, and we've discovered our problem. We have a Xerox global print driver installed on our computers that runs our printer.
If we take a file created in the Microsoft Suite, whether Word or Excel, and print to PDF through the print driver, and then upload that file to a website and provide a link in a page for people to click, the PDF throws an error in Internet Explorer, giving the error listed above, and fails to open. The PDF opens fine locally through Internet Explorer, and you can view the file through the "View" option in Gmail. You can also view that file in Firefox and Chrome with no problem. And the file downloads just fine.
If we take the same file and use the "Save As" option in the Microsoft program to save the file as a PDF and upload that to a website, the file opens just fine in Internet Explorer, as well we everywhere else.
The print driver is doing something in the PDF-making process that bothers Internet Explorer.

  • Stretching Table with IE8 compatibility view

    Hi,
I'm using ADF 11.1.1.5, Internet Explorer 8 with compatibility mode and IE8 Standards for document mode.
I can't stretch a table, the column headers don't align with content cells.
Is there any known issue about this?
I have to enable the compatibility mode, it is a requirement.
    My code is:
    Panel Box
    Panel Collection (AFStretchWidth)
    Table (column stretching = last)
    Thanks.

"You cannot use Internet Explorer in compatibility mode while running ADF Faces pages.", copied from http://jobinesh.blogspot.com/2012/02/ie-compatibility-mode-and-adf-faces.html
    This answers my question.
