  • Internet Explorer 9 no longer works after an uninstall of HP Support Centre

Internet Explorer 9 no longer works after an uninstall of HP Support Centre and drivers for 3 HP All-in-One printers (psc1310, C4180, F4200).  Intend to re-install for just C4180.  I selected option to remove for all related software, though the HP Update and Photosmart Essentials have been left.  IE9 stops working when launched (even when launched with no add-ons and with Protected Mode disabled and Advanced Settings restored) and regardless of initial URL.  If I remove the IE9 update then IE8 works fine.   I tried re-installing IE9 update, twice, and it continues to fail.
I’m running Vista 32 Home Premium SP2 on Samsung Q210 with Norton 360 v5, SpywareBlaster and Spybot - Search & Destroy.
    This question was solved.

I now believe the problem with IE9 was not related to HP, but to a Windows Update replacement to the “Intel Corporation - Display - Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family” drivers:  Intel Corporation Display software update released in February, 2011 (useless link  http://winqual.microsoft.com/support/?driverid=20411791).   IE9 started working OK when I set “Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering*” (see http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1678709 with reference to “faulting module igdumdx32.dll”), so will now investigate removing that update.
Sorry to have cast aspersions on HP.  MS did this to themselves, as usual.

    Hi,
I suggest you check the fix in this article:
Fix: Internet Explorer freezes, crashes, hangs in Windows 7 | 8
    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/internet-explorer-freezes-crashes-hangs
If it doesn't work, please help to post back the IE crash dump file here for our research:
First enable app crash dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing it:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\localdumps\iexplore.EXE]
    "DumpFolder"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,63,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,64,00,75,\
      00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
    "DumpCount"=dword:00000010
    "DumpType"=dword:00000001
    "CustomDumpFlags"=dword:00000000
Then, open IE to repro the issue. If crash issue appeared, please find the crashdump file under c:\.
To further help you, please upload this file into Skydrive and shared the link here.
Also, you can try to analyze dump by yourself if you would like to:

  • Flash wont work in firefox 4 beta OR 3.6.3 in ubuntu

okay i got firefox 4 beta 11 and noticed flash player wasn't working. I decided to fix it later and went back to the version i previously used.
Flash wont work on there EITHER!
    edit: firefox 3.6.3

If it is about a problem with a Firefox 4.0 beta version then you may need to post in the Firefox Builds forum on that site.

Standard version of gmail will not load, although it will on Internet Explorer. HTML version works OK.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete your google.com cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Youtube freezes on Internet Explorer 11 (Windows 7), works when Flash is disabled

I have recently upgraded to Internet Explorer 11 and since the upgrade, every time I visit a page on Youtube, the page will freeze for a good amount of time. I have been able to reproduce this on all of the computers in my house. However, this problem disappears when I disable the Adobe Flash add-on in IE11. I did try the new Flash Player 12 beta, but I am still having problems with the website unless Flash is disabled.
    Thank you,
    --Timothy

It seems to be an interaction between IE11 (Release version) and the latest 11.9..152 version of Adobe flash.  Precisely which is the culprit is hard to tell because IE11 is causing a range of problems  (see the link I gave above).  I am referring to IE11 on W7 64bit.
It affected all the videos I attempted to load.  Indeed, generally operation failed when I began to enter some words into the YouTube box.  I never got as far as seeing the video.  I have stopped using IE11 and am back to IE10 and there are NO problems with 11.9...152.  I can't speak for others but returning to IE10 has removed the problem.
I have two W7 pcs and both experienced the same YouTube problem though they are running different hardware (the secondary system has an ATI vga card for example).
If I remember correctly video through other browsers was fine under IE11.  I can't remember now if video on other sites (than YouTube) worked under IE11.
My video card is an Nvidia GTX660 and I am using the latest nvidia driver (331.65).  Hardware is: 3770K;  Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe mobo; 32Gb ram; x4 SSDs, one used for programs and OS, two for data and one for a Photoshop Scratch Disk; GTX660 vga card, various other hardware including an 860W psu.
I didn't try disabling hardware acceleration.
You can harvest quite a lot of info from the threads in the MS site I posted in my first post.
I have never had any trouble with Flash before.

  • The Facebook Social Plug ins are not showing up in Firefox on my website but are showing up in Internet Explorer? They were working, but "stoppped".

    My website:
    http://www.backwaterstudio.com
    Windows XP, latest Firefox
    Weebly website
Facebook social plugins stopped working and G+ Plugins stopped working - actually stopped showing up in Firefox, but working just fine in Internet explorer.
Here is the Facebook plugin Discussion Forum - not showing up in Firefox:
    http://www.backwaterstudio.com/discussion-forum-and-feedback.html
Updated Flash and Java: No change
    Cleared Cache: No Change
They worked fine for two years and just quit a few days ago.

That was exactly the problem.....an issue with the add ons
I followed your instructions to the nth degree and, bingo, it was "fixed".
Interesting that I had not uploaded or changed anything prior - I am so careful about that. Something had gone corrupt though.
    Your the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Flash wont work

Flash doesn't work. Says I need to update to current version. I am. Addons shows three versions of flash. Internet Explorer works better than firefox now (the shame!) Help me right this wrong.

First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
''That will get rid of those three Flash Plugins.''
Then download the latest Flash Plugin version from here:
Select ''Plugin-based browsers'' - the EXE version.
    https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
Run the Flash uninstaller program, then reboot your PC.
Then install the Plugin version of Flash. So you'll have a clean installation of Flash for Firefox.

Firefox 17, Windows 7 64bit, Features in Facebook (Log out, open groups, & open messages) do not function using Firefox. Have tried clearing cache and cookies. Hi,
You may also have to install Java: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7u9-downloads-1859586.html
Please note that you have to install either '''Windows x86 Offline''' or '''Windows x86 Online'''.
If problems persist you can also reset Firefox and check.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

  • Internet explorer 11 flashplayer stopped working

It appears as a black screen that doesn't want to load any video content. I have the latest flash player version for internet explorer. I recently uninstalled Google chrome to see if it was causing it.

If you just upgraded to IE11, the following might be useful:
First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.
If you're on IE11 on Windows 8 and higher and it *was* working, then stopped, that's pretty weird.  Either you've changed something or installed software (Ad blockers, privacy tools, etc) that are preventing Flash from running, or something got corrupted on the filesystem.  The best way to fix that is to find the last windows update in Add/Remove Programs for Internet Explorer and uninstall it, then re-install it from Windows Update.  This will usually get things back to a working state.  Unfortunately this is a difficult solution because there's no way to uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer itself on Win8+, and Flash Player is actually a built-in component of IE at this point (there's nothing to download from Adobe).

  • Internet Explorer and FLASH??

I need help installing Flash Plug-in for Mac Version of Internet Explorer.  Adobe website doesn't seem to offer a version of Flash Player for IE on Mac.  Am I missing something?
Problem:  We have a website which requires IE.  We have a lab full of iMacs.  Safari/Firefox/Opera will NOT open the pages but IE does...EXCEPT a few of the pages require Adobe Flash Player to be installed and I can't figure out how to install the Flash Player Plug-in for Mac OSX/IE.
IE does have a popup indicating it is missing a plug-in for Flash and directs you to the Adobe Site BUT there is no Flash Plug-in listed for OS: Mac OS X and Browser: IE.
Is it even possible to view Flash Content on IE for Mac?
I know how many mac fan boys are...so...please don't offer suggestions of VMWare/Parallels/Bootcamp/etc. or state that IE is inferior and I should be using Safari/Firefox/Opera/Etc.  Those aren't options.  If you know how to install Adobe Flash Player Plug-in for Mac OSX Internet Explorer, that's what I need.
Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom!

I assume you're speaking about IE 5.2, the last Mac version of IE? No way I know of to view Flash Content.
Have you tried changing the User Agent on Safari, Opera, FireFox, iCab etc. to some IE version?

  • Quicktime for Internet Explorer 64-bit not working?

The past couple days I was doing some testing on a computer running Windows 7 64-bit. I noticed that while using Internet Explorer, any embedded Quicktime media would prompt the surfer to download Quicktime when in fact it's already installed on the system.
When I'd approve the download/installation anyhow I'd get a brief pause, then nothing. No error message, but IE still did not have QT capabilities. Tried multiple times, still no luck.
Is QT even compatible with IE 64-bit? It's a concern for me not because I actually use IE (and certainly don't want to get into an argument over the merits of various OSs and browsers), but because I'm presenting a large archive of Quicktime videos and I want them to be compatible with a variety surfers' systems.

    Good-O.
Working on the principle that this might be caused by some subtle damage to the QuickTime program files relating to ActiveX controls, I think we should try a clean uninstall/reinstall of QuickTime, taking a few other explicit precautions along the way (just in case).
First, download and save a fresh copy of the QuickTime installer from the Apple Website. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet. Get the installer that doesn't mention iTunes.)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel. Uninstall QuickTime.
Next we'll clear away any leftover program files and folders.
In "Computer" open "Local Disk C:" or whichever drive you have your *program files* installed on.
Open the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
Right-click on the "QuickTime" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete").
Go back into "Local Disk C:" or whichever drive you have your *operating system* installed on.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "SysWOW64" folder.
Right-click on the QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx files (if they still exist) and select "Delete".
    Restart the PC.
After the PC restarts, do not open any applications (especially not either of the IE 8 browsers). Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software. (Firewall, antivirus, antispyware.)
Now start the QuickTime reinstall by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file you downloaded earlier.
(This may also update your Apple Application Support to version 1.3.0 ... I'm not sure whether or not the QT 7.6.6 installer bundle has been modified to include the new version yet.)
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Did the QuickTime install seem to go through okay?
If so, fire up the 64-bit version of IE 8 and browse to a website containg QuickTime content ... like Apple.com, for example. Do you get asked by IE to install the ActiveX component this time around? If so, does it install properly this time?

  • CTRL+F in Internet Explorer 8 does not work for WD calendar iviews

    Hi all
I have a simple, but yet important question.
In the ESS iview "Register working time", I'm not able to search the content diplayed in the calendar table area of the iview using CTRLF search functionality in Internet Explorer. This means that an employee with a complicated time registration will not be able to search his text descriptions or his registered working types using the CTRLF search functionality.
Can anybody help me make this search from Internet Explorer work?
The search functionality in FireFox is able to search the table content of the calendar view. So it should be possible to achieve the same functionality with Internet Explorer.
    Best regards,
    Martin Søgaard

Have you tried putting viewing the site in compatability mode?  We have an older portal an all of our users with IE8 must do that.
