Internet Explorer 9 will not recognize Flash Player

Since I installed an update from Adobe a few days ago, IE 9 will not recognize that I have the most current version (11.0.1.152) Installed.  I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it.  I go to a site that requires Flash and am told I dont have it and need it, I go download and reinstall, still it is not recognized.  It works fine in Chrome, but then I go to the same site in IE 9 and again am told I don't have it and need to install it.  What steps can I take to fix this?
OS is Vista Business

  • Firefox will not allow Flash player to work. How do I enable Flash to work in Firefox? Thank you.

    Question
Firefox will not allow Flash player to work. Every site that uses Flash player gives me a message saying that I need to update to the latest version of Flash player, but I have done so, and I keep getting the same message. How do I enable Flash to work in Firefox? Thank you.

You can hold down the Shift key and double click the Firefox desktop icon to start Firefox in [[Safe mode]].

Sometimes "compatibility View" works and others  not. Research has led me to believe it might be flash player.

"Research" would lead you to believe completely the opposite.
Research showed me this:  Internet Explorer 11’s Many User-Agent Strings
The loonballs in Redmond, WA really screwed IE11 up. The intentionally messed up the "User-Agent Strings" which are what a page uses to ID the browser and provide the proper content for it. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon. In fact, they think it's a great idea, so I seriosly doubt they intend to do a thing about it.
Microsoft's recommendation (as you know)  is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it's seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Internet Explorer 9 crashes with the Flash player 10.2

Compatibility of Flash player 10.2 with Nvidia optimus graphic card used in Sandy Bridge processors:
There are multiple things that we need to consider. I have a similar problem with the IE 9. As soon as I downloaded the new Adobe flash player 10.2 the problem started.
The problem lies in the interaction of Adobe flash. 10.2 hardware acceleration with the new Nvidia optimus graphics. The new Nvidia graphic cards are used with new Sandy Bridge processor form intel.
As soon as you update the flash player 10.2 the IE 9 crashes it is not a 64 or 32 bit problem rather the problem lies in interaction between Adobe flash player 10.2 and Nvidia graphic card.
If you want to check that it makes sense. Put a checkmark in options in IE 9 to deactivate the hardware acceleration. IE 9 will play all flash videos without a hitch. Unfortunately you cannot play them full-screen.
The way to completely fix this problem, download the older edition of flash player that's 10.1 which is compatible with Nvidia graphics. Problem solved.
I'm posting this solution to Adobe forums to make sure that they can fix the problem in 10.3 version of flash player.

    Hi,
The process of clearing IE 9 Crashing issues is very simple.
Run IE 9 without any plug-in, add-ons or other extension.
That is, if the software is yet to be installed.
If it has already been installed then disable the add-ons.
It is important to check what are the add ons that cause the crashing if that is the case; this can be done by clicking on ‘Start’, then on ‘All programs’, then on ‘Accessories’, then on ‘System tools’.
Click on Internet explorer again and again click on the ‘Tools’ option.
Follow this by clicking on ‘Manage add-ons’.
There will be an option under show: all add ons.
Open the option and click on any add on and press the ‘CTRL + A’ on the keyboard.
That should help select all the add ons; once that is done simply disable all the add ons and click ‘Close’.
Finally close Internet Explorer and open it again.
At this stage if it continues to open and work correctly then the add-on enabled manually will work properly and will stay! The constant problems of the browser crashing can be avoided.

  • Reader Extensions does not recognize Flash Player

    Hi All:
Rather new to Reader Extensions ES 2 and have installed it on a test system.  This use to work but now I am having a problem accessing the user web page.
    Environment
    Windows XP
    IE 6 or 7
    Flash player 9 or 10
    Issue:
When I access http:// localhost:8080/ReaderExtensions/welcome I recieve a page display stating "This content requires the Adobe Flash Player 9 or above." Get Flash.
    Steps taken to date:
I originally had Flash 10 but have tried downgrading to Flash 9 with no results.
Re-installed Reader extensions after changing Flash versions with no results.
uninstalled Reader Extensions and cleaned out the registry. reinstalled Reader extensions with no result
Note: the installation had no errors and was doing a Turnkey - express mode install
Upgraded IE from 6 to 7 with no results.
Searched the Internet for similar issues
Searched the Adobe forums with no results.
    Anybody with any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Hi Paul:
I am using ES2 or Reader Extensions 9.  I have tried both Flash 9 and 10.  From investigation on Web, 10 should be fine with ES2 but I downgraded it to version 9 just in case.
Regardless, it doesn't work with either Flash 9 or Flash 10.
This is only a problem when trying to access the user interface.  I can access Reader Extensions AdminUI.  I can change settings etc so there is no problem with the install or configuration, I just can't load the user interface to actually reader extend a PDF.
One thing I noticed on my production system using LC Reader Extensions 7, in IE there is the Shockwave Flash Object (version 10) under "Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer".  I do not see this on the development system with ES2.
    Thank you,

  • IE 9 and 10 will not launch flash player

This is in regards to my desktop.  About three weeks ago I started having issues with the Flash Player not working when called upon by a website as an add-on to IE 10. So I called Microsoft Support and they did all manner of system restore and now the computer is all hosed up.  One of the things they did do was uninstall IE 10 and reinstall IE 9.  While IE 9 was more stable, IE 9 will not launch the Flash Player either when prompted by a web site.   Flash Player WILL launch if I use Chrome or Firefox. The solution that everyone throws my way is not to use IE, but that doesn't fix the issue of getting IE 9 to luanch the flash player when called upon by a web site. Microsoft seems bamboozled by this and their tech support overseas has no idea how to fix this short of a clean install and startiong over from scratch - which seems like the most likely scenario.  My desk top is running Windows 7 - build 1.  IE Explorer is version 9.0.17.  The machine is a 64 bit Intel Core i7 CPU with 870 at 2.93 Ghz.  AV is ESET, udated, runs everyday.  I have tried putting sites on the on the pop-up blocker allow list and have shut Microft's pop-up block oiff completly with no behavioral change form the computer. I have also disable all of the add-ons and re-enable them, with no change. The most recent version of Flash Player is the one I installed this morning from the adobe web site.

    Does this FAQ help?

  • Adobe Reader will not open Flash Player on my iMac

    Hi Folks,
For some reason I cannot install Flash Player.  I used to have it on my iMac but now don't, maybe I inadvertantly deleted it somehow?
I've tried re-downloading the app but keep getting the message as below.
I've even tried copying the download to a Flash drive from my Mac Pro ( on which it works fine) and saving it directly into the Utilities folder on my iMac, still no luck.  When I click on the icon it only comes up with the option to "remove" Flash Player
    Got any ideas?
    Cheers
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
It appears that somehow Reader has become the default program to open DMG files.  You'll want to open the DMG with DiskImageMounter.app.  DiskImageMounter is found in /System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter.app.
Right-click on the DMG installer file and select 'OpenWith'
This will reveal a menu that should have DiskImageMounter.app listed.
If DiskImageMounter.app is not listed, select Other... and navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter.app.
This will mount the DMG revealing the actual installer .app file inside
Double-click the .app file and proceed with the instructions to install Flash Player.
You'll actually want to make DiskImageMounter.app the default program to open DMG files so that you don't encounter the same scenario in the future.

  • Internet Explorer 11 will not open Embedded links or update application software., Open a blank page

    Hello,
I have a customer with a brand new HP workstation and the same thing is happening here.
Doing a search in Norton Toolbar and then clicking on one of the results it opens a new IE page but the page is completely blank, including the tab at the top to identify the page. Also when using a tax software program that is running from a web browser
and clicking on an update it does the same thing.
When logging onto Online Banking and if you click on a transaction to view a deposit or a check it will not open that item.
The computer was installed 15 days ago. The first time we installed Office 2013 it asked to activate the product over the Internet. It would not connect to the Microsoft servers to validate the new product. OF course we had to call(phone) it in to validate.
There are more examples of "On Line" things not working properly, these are just a few.
Should I uninstall IE 11 and install IE10.
So Far I have disabled all add-ons, reset IE, Ran a full viruscan - Results Clean (N360). Customer does use the password feature in Norton 360, i beleive it is called the "Vault".
I did uninstall IE 11 and Norton 360. Installed IE 11 on and the same results. Then I installed N360 back on.
Any helpful suggestions  would be appreciated. Customer does not want Chrome installed>

    Hi,
the first step in troubleshooting web browser issues is to test in noAddons mode.
    Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Internet Explorer (noAddons)
In your customers case you should also try navigating to the URL by typing it directly in the IE address bar.... (when asking internet related questions please include the complete address to any web pages you are having issues with).
It seems plausible that in this case a configuration of the Nortons security suite or toolbar may be causing the issue.... Without an example link we cannot test the site in question. The Nortons toolbar is probably using google as a search results provider.
To completely remove Norton 360 from the computer you need to download the N360 removal tool.
    https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080710133834EN_EndUserProfile_en_us
    have your tried support.norton.com?
    you could try
a Reset IE Settings... (Advanced tab of Internet Options)
a Reset of IE security zone settings (Security tab of Internet Options>click "Reset all zones to default", then the Trusted sites icon, sites button....remove any domains from the trusted sites list.) (MSIE browsers have a security setting to prevent
navigation into zones of lower integrity).
Again... without a link to the website youre client is having issues with we can only guess.

  • Mac will not update flash player, please advise

My Adobe Flash Player needs to be updated to 15.0.0.189 but the site will not allow me to download. Says 'Your antivirus software must allow you to install software.' I have a Mac OS X 10.7.5. No antivirus software installed. Checked the forums but can not find any info specific to this issue. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I don't believe that what you're experiencing is legitimate.  This sounds like an attempt to get you to install malware.  I'm thinking that you may have been tricked into downloading a fake Flash Player.  Let's throw that installer away and start again.
Download Flash Player from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
If that gives you trouble please try the alternate installer:

  • Internet Explorer 8 will not open

I have been using Internet Explorer a long time with Windows XP SP3. Just recently I needed to do a download for another application and after that download finished I was unable to use Internet Explorer, I downloaded IE8 to try and fix the problem. It
didn't. Internet Explorer is the default browser but it will not open in any menus. I can't even open Help and support either, a lot of applications worn't open now for some reason. Any sugestions??

    Hi,
Based on the current situation, I would like to suggest you use the following methods to check the issue:
    1. Check Your Antivirus & Firewall. Most of the time, the problem is with your antivirus or antispyware. In fact, incorrect settings in your antivirus and antispyware create problems not only with Internet Explorer but any browser or application requiring
data transmission over a network. To check if they are the cause, turn them off.
    2. Check Your Add-Ons. Add-ons or plug-ins are either added manually or are added with the installation of any application such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.  If Internet Explorer begins working properly, one or more of the add-ons are corrupt, and you should
follow the method mentioned in the next paragraph to fix the issue.
    3. Check for Conflicts among Processes. There is high possibility that one of the processes on your machine is conflicting with the functioning of Internet Explorer. To check this, you will have to test your Internet Explorer in a clean boot environment.
    4. Return To Defaults. Resetting Internet Explorer restores the browser to the state when it was first installed.
    Hope it helps.
