Internet explorer can access webistes but firefox cannot find the servers

Question

So one day i got on my computer and none of my browsers could find the servers at any f the websites I attempted to visit. Then all of a sudden IE started to work and I use it from then until now. Now i need to switch to firefox because silverlight is not compatible with the x64 version of IE and firefox does not require silverlight to watch movies on netflix.
I am not connecting with a proxy, windows firewall is completely shut off, and Spyware Doctor does not even have a list of blocked programs. I tried every solution on the support page to no avail, I even uninstalled and reinstalled and the problem showed no change.
I am running Windows 7 x64 bit on a Toshiba Satellite. I would appreciate any form of assistance. Thank you.

Try the following solutions and whichever setting works, keep it Permanent:
1) click '''Firefox''' button and click '''Options''' -> Advanced -> Network -> click '''Settings...''' button infront of Connection -> select option1 -> Click OK -> OK
2) click '''Firefox''' button and click '''Options''' -> Advanced -> Network -> click '''Settings...''' button infront of Connection -> select option2 -> Click OK -> OK
3) click '''Firefox''' button and click '''Options''' -> Advanced -> Network -> click '''Settings...''' button infront of Connection -> select option3 -> Click OK -> OK
Check which solution works.
