  • Internet Explorer not recording scores for SCORMS

I am having a problem with Internet Explorer not recording the scores for SCORMS developped in Captivate 7.   A Forum in Moodle suggested that the problem is that Internet Explorer always has an error with the instruction DoBeforeUnload.  I can see that this is always causing a problem.  Do you have any suggestions or work arounds for this?

I am using Captivate 7 to produce the SCORMS, and the courses are hosted in MOODLE 2.5.  The scores are recorded well in google Chrome but not in Internet Explorer. I have been trying out the courses with Internet Explorer 10 and 11 and both produce the same error:
A moodle forum suggested that IE10 and IE11 do not like the command DoBeforeUnload, and need the command BeforeUnload. (I have checked the Moodle SCORM API and the commands and scores are being sent.)

  • Windows failed to apply the Internet Explorer Zonemapping settings - the data was invald (event ID: 1085)

    Hi All,
I have a large domain and a long list of websites that are trusted using the following group policy setting:
Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer> Internet Control Panel > Security Page >
    Site to Zone Assignment List
On all (XP/vista/win7) workstations across the domain I'm getting the following error:
    Log Name:  System
    Source:  Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy
    Event ID: 1085
    Task Category: None
    Level: Warning
Keywords:   Description: Windows failed to apply the Internet Explorer Zonemapping settings. Internet Explorer Zonemapping settings might have its own log file.
There's nothing either side of this error in the log that shines any more light on the issue.
I know which group policy object its applying these settings but cant find which of the entries in the site to zone assignment list is causing this issue. I looked in the
Group Policy/Operational log but all I see is the following entry which says "completed" but is logged as an error:
After some research I'm guessing that the issue is an incorrect wild-card. This is what my trusted sites list looks like (with names removed of course):
    http://servername.*
    *.internaldomain.com.au
    *.domain.com.au
    *.domain.*
    *.externaldomain.com
    *.domain.inernaldomain.com.au
    *.domain.*
    *.domain/name.*
    *.domain.inernaldomain.au*
    *.domain.com
Is there something obviously incorrect here?
Does anyone know where I could find an article that clearly outlines the acceptable wildcard syntax for the
"Security page\ site to zone assignment list" group policy?  Ive read every forum post, website and blog I could find on the internet but nothing is clear and I wasn't able to find an MS document that steps it out. I've also changed the
existing list a number of times based on blog posts etc but had no luck.
    **Please Note**
I dont want to change to a different method or have an intellectual debate re why I would have these sites/wildacrd/policy set. I'm really looking to see what entry is invalid and where the documentation is for this policy setting so i can make sure they are
    always correct in the future.
thanks in advance for your time and assistance

    UPDATE:
I disabled the original policy and created a new one with only one trusted site address in it. Then I logged into a clean test machine did some testing. What I found after a few hours of testing was; regardless of the site that I have listed in group policy
The HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Current version\Internet Settings\Zone Map Key registry entry is
always updated with that entry on the workstation. So the workstation's registry always updates the key with
*.sitename.com per the site that I have set in GP
If I run GPUPDATE /FORCE over and over again, on the same machine, under the same user account, using the same DC I get:
Failure, Failure, Failure, Success, Success, Success, Failure etc
I wasn't able to determine any pattern to the failures, I tried stopping some of the processes on that machine but didn't find anything that would make it fail/succeed reliably.
There is no AV or firewalls installed on my test machine
Anyone have any more ideas?  I think I might install filemon and try to capture some more data unless there's a better tool?

Yes, and that's straight from my Microsoft TAM. As long as you include an asterisk inside those site-to-zone mappings, you'll continue to see them. The key is whether or not they're working. In my environment, I've seen complete success using the
    http://*.domain.com, or
https://*.domain.com, no matter if the site is http://www.domain.com or
http://milk.does.a.body.good.domain.com. Despite the success, we continue to see the errors. It's much the same as Group Policy Preferences where you can apply a setting once, or repeatedly. If you apply
something repeatedly and it's already set, lookout for some complaints in the application log. It really is annoying. There's potential to play with the logging levels, but I'll admit that my experience ranks as "novice" in this specific section of group policy.
This link might get the creative juices flowing:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2008/07/18/enabling-group-policy-preferences-debug-logging-using-the-rsat.aspx
I see you've already read a number of articles including "a test case for troubleshooting those event IDs"... I sympathize with your efforts. I despise warnings and errors that I can't solve or don't want to see, but I've researched a number of them to death
and found that many are simply "normal". Uggg... I hope this helps, but please take my advice, as with anyone else's out here, with caution. I've seen some crazy recommendations. I saw a recommendation to install SQL on a DHCP server to get failover clustering
up and running. I hope the guy asking for help didn't listen to that one! : ) - josh

  • Internet Explorer stops responding while using CodedUI test builder to record a test

    Hi,
    Here is my problem description:
Internet explorer (9, 10, 11) stops responding while using CodedUI Test Builder to record a test scenario in IE. I am not able to input any values or click any buttons or perform any action on IE while recording a test on a remote desktop (visual studio
and IE are both on remote machine). Also tried by directly accessing the machine but no luck. The test builder says 'could not record the last action...'
A hand-coded script plays back fine without any problem.
    System Details:
    OS: Window 7 Professional with SP1 64-bit
Browser: IE 11 (tried with IE 9/10 also with no luck)
    Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate Edition
I have tried the following from my past similar experiences.
    1. Checked that I am recording on 32 bit IE
    2. Tried with IE 9/10/11
    3. Reset IE to factory settings
I will appreciate if someone can share some thoughts on the likely problem(s) and any recommended solution.
    Regards,
    Pankaj

    Hi Pankaj,
    >>'could not record the last action...'.
Actually it means that the coded UI test builder doesn't record the actions, I met this issue before when my machine is so busy, so I will get this issue if I record the steps so quickly.
I'm not very sure that how you connect to your remote desktop and record the actions, but like the above actions, we have to make sure that the steps were recorded in the Recorded Action window like A.
If not, please delete the steps from the no-recorded steps and re-record them again, maybe you could record the steps slowly.
I doubt that the remote connection impacts the recorded actions performance.
    Best Regards,
    Jack

  • MOUSE_DOWN & MOUSE_UP events behaving strangely in firefox and internet explorer w/low framerate

Basically what I'm seeing is that in Firefox and Internet Explorer only, using the latest flash plugins for each, when the framerate in my game drops due to a large number of display objects on screen (not unexpected behavior), MOUSE_DOWN and MOUSE_UP events seem to get queued up (this probably happens whether the framerate is low or not, but it doesn't have any adverse effects when the framerate is high). Flash will try to process every click that occurs, even though it can take up to several seconds. So, for example, if the user clicks the mouse 20 times in a second, but the framerate is running at around 5 fps, the game will be reacting to those clicks for around 3-5 seconds. It doesn't ignore any of them. This causes some strage behavior in our game and is not desirable. In the standalone flash player, and in Chrome browser, a large number of clicks in a short time frame does not have the same behavior. It seems to treat the most recent click with some priority, so it will cancel out a previous click. A single click in our game will cause an object to generate a path and move to the point on screen which was clicked (think point-and-click to move a walking 2D character).
Since this behavior is so different in 2 browsers, could have something to do with how it's embedded, like the wmode parameter? That seems to be the only idea that comes up searching on Google. Is there some way in my code that I can forcibly make a new mouse_down get processed right away instead of waiting for previous events to complete?

Ya, the problem isn't that events are coming in out of order, but rather they are somehow getting triggered at an unacceptably slow rate. It's not that the events are complicated. They merely set a boolean _isMouseDown to true and false (for MOUSE_DOWN, MOUSE_UP, respectively). But if I rapidly click, and then let go of the mouse, I'll see that boolean get set true, false, true, false, etc for a few seconds after I let go of the mouse. Why does this delay exist in Firefox and IE but not Chrome or the standalone player? It's almost as if Chrome and the standalone player let events be in their own thread while IE and Firefox, the events get held up, maybe because there is only one thread to use?

  • Audio in event video overlapping (only in internet explorer)

Hello so im having an issue with captivate I made a project with 16 slides. theres 14 different videos in the project I imported each video as an event video and added the skin "coronaSkin3". I export it as an HTML5 project and test it out from my local hard drive(not on a LMS). Here is my issue the video plays but when I scrub through the event video with the coronaSkin then click on the TOC on the side it takes me to a different video but still has the audio from the first video we were on ( and only the audio) therefore both audios are overlapping each other. The weirdest thing is this only happens to me in Internet explorer not google chrome, or  safari. Is there a way to fix audio over lapping with event videos?
    Thanks

  • Onchage event wont work with Internet Explorer

    Hi,
I recently have an onchange event for a radio button that when the user change the button to N, some items need to be hidden.
    When doing the following:
    onchange: hide();
and then using javascript to hide the items like this:
$x_hideshow(item) or $x(item).style.display = none it works perfect with firefox but when checking my page it doesn't work.
What I need to do is click the N option then click outside the radio button and then the onchange triggers the hide function.
Can you please let me know what can I do to fix this problem?

    Browser support
E4X is currently supported by Mozilla's Rhino, used in OpenOffice.org and several other projects, and SpiderMonkey, used in Firefox, Thunderbird, and other XUL-based applications. It is also supported by Tamarin, the JavaScript engine used in the Flash virtual machine. It is not currently supported by Nitro (Safari), V8 (Google Chrome), or Internet Explorer.[1]

  • Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 wont install Internet Explorer 10

    Hey all,
Having an issue on my clients machine and I have yet to figure it out. The machine is a Dell Latitude E6330 running a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional SP1 install. Currently the machine has Internet Explorer 9 on it which is unacceptable due to compatibility
with a client website he uses.
Every single time Windows Updates are ran everything will update and install correctly except for
KB2830477 and Internet Explorer 10 giving me Error Codes
    800736B3 and 9C59.
I have attempted installing these two updates manually by downloading them from Microsoft website and installing them in different orders. KB2830477 says that it's not compatible with my system and IE 10 simply fails to install.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I've hit a wall here.

Method 1:The System File Checker tool
To determine whether the issue that you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the
system files by using the correct versions.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
    1.    Click
Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
    2.    Right-click
cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click
    Continue
    3.    At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:
    sfc /scannow
For more information visit the following link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936212
Now you can try to perform the Windows update and check if the issue persists.
    Method  2:
System resources, such as file data, registry data, and even in-memory data, can develop inconsistencies during the lifetime of the operating system. These inconsistencies might be caused by various hardware failures or might be caused by software
issues. In some cases, these inconsistencies can affect the Windows servicing store, and they can cause software updates not to work. The System Update Readiness Tool tries to resolve these inconsistencies.
After you download the System Update Readiness Tool, it runs a onetime scan for inconsistencies that might prevent future servicing operations. This scan typically takes less than 15 minutes to run. However, the tool might take significantly longer
on some computers. The Windows Update progress bar is not updated during the scan, and progress seems to stop at 60% complete for some time. This behavior is expected. The scan is still running and you should not cancel the update.
For more information and to download the “System update readiness tool” visit the following link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
Method  3: You may also try to perform a “Clean boot” and check if the issue persists.
    NOTE: THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE DISCLAIMER
Using Third Party Software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Third Party Software can be solved. Using
Third Party Software is at your own risk.
    Clean boot:
Note If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We strongly recommend that you do not use the System Configuration utility to modify the advanced boot
options on the computer unless a Microsoft support engineer directs you to do this. Doing this may make the computer unusable.
    a.
Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
    b.    Click Start, type
msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER to start the System Configuration Utility. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click
    Continue.
    c.     On the General tab, click
Selective Startup, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. (The
Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)
    d.    On the Services
tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click
    Disable all.
Note Following this step lets Microsoft services continue to run. These services include Networking, Plug and Play, Event Logging, Error Reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you may permanently delete all restore points.
Do not do this if you want to use the System Restore utility together with existing restore points.
    e.    Click OK, and then click
    Restart.
Note: Reset the computer to start as usual
After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    a.     Click Start, type
msconfig.exe in theStart Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click
    Continue.
    b.
On the General tab, click the
Normal Startup option, and then click OK.
    c.     When you are prompted to restart the computer, click
    Restart.

  • Why does my Web Handler work with Internet Explorer, but not with Firefox

I am trying to develop a web page that uses the Simile Timeline (http://code.google.com/p/simile-widgets/wiki/Timeline) with data from SQL Server.
In initial testing of my timeline I tested it with Example.xml, a static XML file in the correct format to be event data. I wrote the following in the appropriate place within mytimeline's Javascript: -
    var WebHandler = "Example.xml"
    tl.loadXML(WebHandler, function (xml, url) { eventSourceFamily.loadXML(xml, url) });
This worked fine with both Firefox and Internet Explorer. I then changed the assignment to
    var WebHandler = "GDBTimeline.ashx?Type=Family&Userid=" + getControlValue("input", "hdnUser");
so that invoked a web handler that could look up the SQL database and return the XML that I wanted, and wrote this web handler.
This works perfectly with Internet Explorer, but with FireFox the timeline band is blank. Yet when I examine the http traffic with Fiddler2 (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/) I see that with either browser there is a response from URL
    /GDB_pages/GDBTimeline.ashx?Type=Family&Userid=robertb
that returns the XML that it is supposed to.
I have previously used web handlers with Firefox before, with no problems. The Fiddler results conclusively show that the web handler is invoked, and returns the appropriate XML, and this XML is identical to the XML from the static test with Example.xml.
Where do I start looking for answers? I don't even know if this is a Simile problem, a Firefox problem, or an ASP.NET problem.
    Thank you, Robert.

Problem solved. The issue: Content Type was not correct.
Visual Studio creates the web handler with dummy code like this: -
Public Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal context As HttpContext) Implements IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"
    context.Response.Write("Hello World")
    End Sub
I wrote a database query that set a string variable to the XML I wanted: -
Public Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal context As HttpContext) Implements IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest
    Dim Outstring as string
' my logic to fill Outstring with XML
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"
    context.Response.Write(Outstring)
    End Sub
This works with Internet Explorer. However it's not strictly correct: to make it work with other browsers as well,
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"
    should be
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/xml"
It now works with IE, FF, and Chrome, and presumably all others.

Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. • Spry Menu issues in Internet Explorer

I have created a Spry menu for my website and although the menu appears to look fine in Firefox and Safari, the formatting changes in Internet Explorer(IE).
1.sub menu bar is not dropping down below the main menu bar it is appearing at the top of the screen.
2.When you hover over the sub menu bar items the font should be white however in IE it is appearing as an aqua color.
3.The menu bar is not straight across the page, at the beginning and end there are chunks of the menu bar that appear white.
Are there any fixes for these issues that would help to make the menu look consistent across all browsers.  The website page is
www.applmgt.net/LMNtestpage/html, below is the code.  Any help would be appreciated as soon as possible.

Hi Nadia thanks for your help in trying to fix the spry menus.
I am new to Dreamweaver and therefore would appreciate a bit more help with the issues you identified.
I did replace the doctype. As for removing the menu from a table and putting it into a div, would you be able to identify in the code below how I would do that?  Thanks

  • Report to show major Internet Explorer version

There's many posts relating to an accurate way of reporting on which version of Internet Explorer is being used by a PC. It is not made easy by the fact that some versions are recorded in Add/Remove programs, while other versions aren't, and there
seems to be some dependency on whether it was installed with the O/S or later upgraded via WSUS etc etc.
Here's the report I've creating (using file versions of iexplore.exe) - which works OK, but what I'd really like is if I could 'roll up' the results into a count of major versions. So instead of having seperate lines for 7.00.6000.16386 and 7.00.6000.17055
(for instance), it just gives me one line for v7, one for v8 etc.
Any ideas how this could be achieved?
    select
        FileName,
        FileVersion,
        @CollID as CollectionID,
        Count (Distinct SF.ResourceID)
    From
        dbo.v_GS_SoftwareFile SF
    JOIN v_FullCollectionMembership fcm on SF.ResourceID=fcm.ResourceID
    Where
        FileName = 'iexplore.exe'
    and
        FilePath like '%Internet Explorer%'
    and fcm.CollectionID=@CollID
    Group by
        FileName, FileVersion
    Order by
        FileVersion

Plagiarized a bit--showing OS (trying to limit to only major version of that--could have used a CASE statement, I guess) as we have a requirement to only have certain version of IE on certain OS...
    select
    SF.FileName AS 'FILENAME',
    LEFT (OSYS.Caption0, 20) AS 'OS',
    left(SF.FileVersion,2) AS 'IE MAJOR VERSION',
    Count(Distinct SF.ResourceID) AS 'COUNT'
    From
    dbo.v_GS_SoftwareFile SF
    JOIN dbo.v_R_System SYS ON SF.ResourceID = SYS.ResourceID
    JOIN dbo.v_GS_OPERATING_SYSTEM OSYS ON SF.ResourceID = OSYS.ResourceID
    Where
    SF.FileName = 'iexplore.exe'
    and SF.FilePath like '%Internet Explorer%'
    AND SYS.Client0 = '1'
    AND SYS.Obsolete0 = '0'
    AND SYS.Operating_System_Name_and0 LIKE '%workstation%'
    AND OSYS.Caption0 IS NOT NULL
    AND OSYS.Caption0 NOT LIKE '%(R)%'
    AND OSYS.Caption0 NOT LIKE '%embedded%'
    Group by
    SF.FileName,
    LEFT (OSYS.Caption0, 20),
    left(SF.FileVersion,2)
    Order by
    CASE left(SF.FileVersion,2) WHEN '6.' THEN 0
    WHEN '7.' THEN 1
    WHEN '8.' THEN 2
    WHEN '9.' THEN 3
    WHEN '10' THEN 4
    WHEN '11' THEN 5
    END

  • How can I process an xml/xsl file pair that require the Internet Explorer dom?

My personal navigation device (GPS) generates xml files that contain a record of where I have been, together with when I was there, how fast I was driving at the time, etc. taken at approx. 5 second intervals. This xml file has an xml-stylesheet with type="text/xsl" but that stylesheet is written to the Internet Explorer dom standard. The stylesheet interfaces with google maps to display a map that shows my path and it also displays tables of data including distances that are computed from latitude/longitude pairs. I can supply a small sample xml file and the xsl file as well if they are needed to diagnose my problem. I cannot find any browser other than Internet Explorer that handles these files satisfactorily. I prefer to process them from a Linux environment but with the Internet Explorer requirement I cannot do so. The browsers that I have tried and that have failed are Firefox, Opera, Konqueror, Chrome, Epiphany, Midori, Arora, and Links.
One line in the xls file in particular gives grief in the browsers like Firefox that at least attempt to do more than display the raw xml file:
    xmlns:cymath="urn:smiletime-cybarber-net:math"
A comment in the xls file says this about the problem:
"Tested and currently only compatible with Internet Explorer version 6 or version 7 (as this script includes JScript functions called by XSL, msxsl:script extension is required; also, the produced XHTML document embeds javascript functions exploiting the IE DOM).
"In order to provide compatibility with Firefox, other than checking the compatibility of the IE DOM, the cymath:distCosineLaw function still needs to be ported."

You may get an answer, but it is not really the sort of subject covered by this forum, I suggest you try [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=49 Mozilazine] and if you solve the problem post back again.

  • How can i use application for internet explorer on the safari web browser ?

I have a digital video recording system, which uses the the Internet Explorer for Remote Survelliance. It usually works with chrome and mozilla by adding ie-tab  plug-in's to it. Is there any such ie-tab for the safari. ?

Is there any such ie-tab for the safari. ?
Rather doubt this considering MIcrosoft hasn't written IE for Mac in years.
