Internet Explorer looks horrible

Could someone please go to my site in firefox and then inter
net explorer and tell me what I have to do to the code to fix the IE issues. It is
a 3 column floating template and the opening instructions
state there is a -1px variance but I've tried adding and subtracting pixles from
my columns and it doesn't help. I want to finish the site but not until I fix these errors.
Any help would be fantastic.

Thanks everyone

Thanks for the speedy reply. I didn't put that Java script line in
there. I don't know how it got there but I haven't tried to figure it
out yet. I was more concerned about fixing the IE problem before
I made more pages.
I am very limited in this field and I appreciate your patience.
I just looked at the code half way through this replay and figured
out what you meant. I have fixed it already and it looks great.
Thank you so much for the help Gramps. That was awesome.
All the best,

  • My website looks different in internet explorer.

    Greetings and thanks in advance for great service that we provide
    I created a website in iweb www.webworldpr.com in Firefox looks good in Internet Explorer looks different. I can do. I would like to know is web site maestro can solve this problem.

    The iWeb for Musicians website is optimized with Web SIte Maestro and appears to work OK in IE 7 & 8. If I look at it using Safari User Agent the background image drops out etc.
    The latest version of WebCrusher has this....
    "iWeb websites are known for their incompatibility with Internet Explorer. We tested hundreds of iWeb sites and came up with a step by step guide to making your iWeb site work with Internet Explorerand built this functionality into WebCrusher."
    I do have WebCrusher but I haven't tested this feature as I don't have a PC running WIndows anymore.
    The only way I can think that I could help you out here is if you send me a copy of a Domain file or the folder of published files and I'll run it through the app to see if it fixes your problem before you have to think about buying it.

  • No Audio in Internet Explorer - Please Help!

    Hi all.
    OK heres the problem. I have a Quicktime 'MOV' clip (the clip contains audio). The filesize is small at 810 KB. The clip plays great in the Standalone Quicktime player. The clip also plays great when i open it in Firefox. Now if i open the same clip in 'Internet Explorer 6.0.2' I lose the 'sound' but everything else is fine.
    Ive tried browsing the Microsoft forums for days & i just cant seem to get a straight answer to this. This is my last resort, so please please please help me! I mainly use Firefox, so I dont have much experience with IE, so it could just be a QT plugin issue with IE.
    The clip is for a Website & if it wont play sound in IE its pointless.
    Any help/info or advice will be greatly appreciated. Peace!

  • JPEG Export Looks Saturated in Internet Explorer

    I see this question in many forums and online but without a solution.
    JPEG exports (sRBG) look overly saturated when viewed in Internet Explorer browser, including when uploading/viewing in Facebook, etc, etc.  In other words, the colors looks different between Lightroom and Internet Explorer.  (Colors looks the same between Lightroom and Photoshop though.)
    As point of reference, when you download a sample JPEG image from Canon EOS's website (used to show sample images from their cameras) you see that those images also use sRGB profile.  They also look exactly the same no matter how you view them (Lightroom, Photoshop, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.).
    What is Lightroom doing to photos upon export to JPEG and you need Lightroom or Photoshop to see the same colors?
    I saw some talk about it had to do with Lightroom presets and that you had to zero those out?  Any ideas from Windows users?

    Have you got Firefox or Safari on your machine?  In which case, how do the images look in either of those browsers?  Or, if you're using Windows 7, how do the images look in Windows photo viewer?
    Also, can you say what monitor you are using please?
    I think it might be a colour management issue.  Internet Explorer is not colour managed (not even IE9), Lightroom and Photoshop are colour managed, so is Windows 7 photo viewer (but not the XP equivalent), so are Firefox and Safari (but not Chrome).  When there's a difference between how something looks in an non-colour-managed program and colour-manged programs then it's worth checking for colour management issues.
    If your monitor has a wider gamut than sRGB, then you would expect IE9 and other non-managed programs to look over-saturated.

  • Why Templates text looks uggly in Internet Explorer ?

    Hi folks,
    I´m doing a kind of a job that will make use of the iWeb templates. It will be easier for the task.
    The problem is that most of the audience will navigate to the site by IE (as almost 80% of the planet does, unfortunetly ... lol). Right now I´m doing a test in front of a PC using XP and IE6. The text of the site looks very, very uggly.
    As I´m a mac user for a long time and work with good computers (1 Mac Pro and 1 MacBook Pro) I guess I´m used to "good image".
    On iWeb templates many different fonts are used, probably fonts that are not web safe as I have read through this forum, right ?
    The resolution of the monitor that I´m doing this test is not too bad (1024 x 768), so it should looks ok, right ?
    Checking the folders contents of the site when it is "saved to a folder" before changing text of the pages, I could noticed that most of the contents (paragraphs and texts) are .png files. Images ! Is it a way and the only way to make texts and paragraphs look nice in Internet Explorer ?
    By the way, is it a safe font size for IE or for general internet ?
    Thanks in advance ....

    The rule in your CSS that's causing the squishing is this one:
    .right_side_text {
        letter-spacing: 0;    line-height: 5px;
        margin: auto;
        padding: 0 0 0 20px;
    I don't think that you need margin: auto
    It's easy to test it in Firefox using the Firebug plugin.  You can edit the CSS "live."  However, it's not so easy to test it in IE so I'm not sure what will happen there if you edit it.

  • Amazon "look inside" feature has stopped working for me on Firefox (used to work in the past; not sure when it stopped). The feature works fine on Internet Explorer 8.0 when browing the exact same books on Amazon. I'm running Win 7 64bit. Thanks.

    After pressing "look inside", the loading message continues indefinitely. Sometimes, I get the message "server timeout".
    Internet Explorer 8.0 loads the "look inside" pages instantly for the exact same Amazon books.
    I have been running Win 7 64 bit for about 9 months. I believe the Amazon feature worked initially. Was running XP and Firefox prior to Win 7 and never had this problem. Used the "look inside" feature many times.

    I believe I found the issue with this.
    The IP Address that this server was sending out emails from, was at one point, blacklisted. So I changed the server to use our email gateway IP instead, and SMS Messages are being sent through now.

  • I'm looking For Mac Version intel Base Internet Explorer Browser

    I need to Download the Internet Explorer browser so that I can use it to open a web Page from Staples to fill out a Job application Form, Safari and FireFox doesn't support that web page from staples. I am having a Hard time finding the right web site to download Internet Explorer, Does anyone know where I can download a Mac Version Intel Base Internet Explorer version?
    Mrs. Trisha Foster

    Try changing the User Agent in Safari - enable the Debug menu.
    Most web sites, you can tell them how to identify your browser as something other than what it is, just have to log out or reload.
    Also, 98% will work with Opera which emulates IE quite well, but not always (I found 2 out of 2000 sites that would not). Another browser to look at: OmniWeb, Camino. I use Firefox 3.1a "TraceMonkey", OmniWeb, Opera (each has its own uses).
    IE 5.2.3, I tried it, and it was terrible. It is old, and doesn't support any of today's web sites.
    Otherwise, you are faced with running CrossOver Mac, or Windows in Fusion or Parallels, or installing on BootCamp.

    It doesn't exist. There hasn't been a version of Internet Explorer for Macs for several years.

  • Published site looks too big in Internet Explorer.

    My site is published to an ftp site and looks fine in Firefox and Safari (Mac), but when viewed on Internet Explorer on a PC it looks horrendous. Type spacing is off, the pages are way too big for the window, black squares appear behind objects in random places. On one page a fairly large Album doesn't show up. Do I have to use MobileMe to avoid this?

    IE is the worst browser in the world and the most popular.
    I am on a never ending mission to make my various elements of iweb work in IE.
    Web safe fonts, .SWF, Flash etc. Nightmare!
    I wish iweb could include alternative or work arounds for IE as it does for fonts.

  • Website looks messed up in internet explorer....

    I created a website for my volunteer fire company with Dreamweaver 8 on my Mac.  The site looked fine when I reviewed it with Firefox and Safari so I uploaded it.  Then I started to get phone calls that it was fouled up looking.  When others looked at it using Internet Explorer on there PC's the background images in the tables became offset and in some cases started to repeat.  Is there an issue between Mac and internet Explorer or between Dreamweaver 8 and Internet Explorer.  The site is www.goodwillhose.com if you want to take a look.  Please, any help would be appreciated.

    FF112173 wrote:
    Is it possible to "no-repeat" the background image in a table?
    Yes, with CSS or inline CSS styling like so:
    <table style="width: 1000px; border: 2px solid silver; background: red url(your-image.png) no-repeat top center" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="5">
    <tr>
    <td> </td>
    <td> </td>
    <td> </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    Your code is invalid, owing to your use of deprecated table height values and HTML syntax with an XHTML document type.
    Use the on-line code validation tool here:
    HTML Validator - http://validator.w3.org
    You might want to study this tutorial.  It was written with DW8 in mind, but the basics are still the same.

    If your site visitors use pre-IE7 browsers, your transparent PNG images have a light blue cast to them. Do a Google search for IE PNG Fix.

  • Making Edge content work in Internet Explorer - Still looking for the easy fix!

    I know this subject has been kicked around a lot. I've done a lot of on-line research on the matter and came across claims of easy fixes using .js files.
    But none of them are working for me!
    Is there truly a good (and simple) way to make my HTML5 (Edge) content work in Internet Explorer?
    Here is a link to my current project
    Beach Bunny Cottage
    The foreground is the Edge content. The slide show background is not. It is .js file running a background slide show.
    Thanks!!

    Web safe colors are really important if your website is going to be viewed on a PC in Internet Explorer.

    As far as making a site compatible with IE is concerned, the best way is to test your site in this pathetic browser and see how horrendous it looks!

  • I installed the latest update, and tried to reply to an email right after. The email looked like a bunch of cymbals, arrows, font names, parts of the email. So I opened it up with Internet Explorer, and all was normal. How do I get this fixed?

    The latest update was the source of the problem. I was replying to emails, and the update popped up. I updated. I continued to reply to emails, and the whole page had arrows, symbols, brackets, font names, red correction lines, etc.
    I opened my emails in Internet Explorer, and everything was normal. How do I fix this?

    I look at it like this, it was a solution to my problem. There is obviously something wrong with the new version. When everyone starts complaining, and some genius figures out the fix, then I will worry about the upgrade. Until then, I am fine with running 4.0. I have to disagree with you though. 6.0 is a downgrade for sure. There is a lot to be desired compared to this version. Who wants price gong, and screwed up emails. Not me. The problem is out there, and now someone needs to work on the bug fixes on this BETA version.
