Internet Explorer & Mac
I am a business owner & I use my Mac book pro for it. One of my contracts requires that I submit reports through their online system In order to get paid. This system is of course Internet Explorer based & I am unable to access the system on my Mac. Help please it is becoming more difficult to try & find a PC to use to finish my work. Advice?
If you already have Windows installed then just boot into Windows (or virtual run it using VMWare) and use Internet Explorer. This is what I do when I need to access my corporate intranet. And while there are more viruses out there for Windows computers than Macs being diligent and smart will keep you from getting viruses. I personally only visit trusted sites, run the personal firewall in Windows, and make sure I don't open attachments from people I don't know. I've never had a virus in the 15+ years I've used Windows.

Internet Explorer Mac 5.2.3 crashes in Leopard
I'm aware that this browser is unsupported and completely dead for various reasons. It did run on Tiger, but not on Leopard anymore here.
1) Can anyone please confirm that IE Mac 5.2.3 crashes (PPC OS X dmg from browsers.evolt.org)
2) I don't expect this to run on an Intel Mac at all. Did it run on an Intel Mac on Tiger?
Thanks.Hi Gordon,
It runs fine in 10.4.11, and even Leopard, here's a link to download it...

Installing Internet Explorer 5.1.7
G3 B&W - 512 MB -350MHZ - OS 9.1 - USB HP PRINTER.
When I have installed IE 5.1.7 it fails to designate this version in the banner of "About Internet Explorer".It declares boldly "Internet Explorer: mac 5.1" At the bottom of the page it registers 5.1.7 (5815). A year ago I discovered fix it/add on that corrected this and in addition streamlined the preference file(edit). My hard drive crashed recently and I replaced it, but I have failed to find a site or download that returns me to my former Internet Explorer: mac 5.1.7 All the downloads I have attempted register Internet Explorer: mac 5.1 And yes, I know it is a version of 5.1.7 but I want "mac: 5.1.7" cited in my About Internet Explorer.
I am not the only mac addict that is requesting this resolution - dozen upon dozen are searching for this solution. Other forums have failed to resolve this.
Thanks for being here. I hope you can help.I switched to Mozilla for OS 9 & like it better than IE. It works on web pages that IE has problems with. Plus, Mozilla has a pop-up ad blocker & a password manager. Download Wamcom's Mozilla browser at:

I have a MacBook Pro and I need to be able to access Internet Explorer in order to login to my remote work server (Microsoft server) and Online Business Banking system (Bank of America Cash Pro). How do I do it if Internet Explorer is not supported on Macs? Is there another option? Please help.

Firefox and internet explorer doesnt work with mac os 10.4.7
i can't seem to get firefox and Internet explorer to work on my g4 da mac with os 10.4.7. any suggestions...
Did they ever work for you?
Did you recently install some new software or make a hardware change to your machine?
The first rule of thumb with misbehaving applications is to erase the Application's preferences and then try it again, but that might be somewhat dangerous considering that you could accidentally erase all of your bookmarks/favorites in the process.
I'm running Mac OS 10.4.7 and I can get FireFox 1.07, 1.5, and 2.0, plus IE 5.2.3 to run, in addition to other browsers like Safari 2, OmniWeb 5.5, Netscape 7.2, and Opera 8.5 and 9. -

Generally this is because the website wants to install an ActivX control. This will only work on the Windows version of Internet Explorer.
If all you need to run is a single Windows application now and again then I would recommend Crossover from Codeweavers, which allows you to run Windows applications on OS X without needing Windows itself.

Mac Manager and Internet Explorer
If a mac manager user puts an "*" as the URL in Internet Explorer, the desktop and other folders (which they should not see) show up and are accessable.
This also appears to affect WGM user in OS X IE.
Does anyone know how to prevent this?
Robert.Welcome to the forums.
This is a 'feature' of IE. I think it used to exist in Safari up until v1.3
In IE your users will see the files/folders they have permission to. Admin users will see more than your regular users (eg. var, tmp, etc, etc.)
I think you will need to drop IE if you want to prevent this behaviour.

Need internet explorer of firefox on Mac
I am going back to school and doing it online. I have done a system check with the platform my school uses and it says I must have internet explorer or firefox. Is there a mac version of these that will work? We had looked into the option of getting Parallels and windows installed but can't really afford it right now. By using either one of these is there security issues I should be aware of?
Click here and use the Mac OS X download link. Internet Explorer should no longer be used in Mac OS X.

Internet explorer is required to access some of my financial accounts; what are the risks? I am running Mac OS X 10.7.2 on a Mac Pro
Message was edited by: 74683msnAdvisable is irrelevant... It is not possible. There has not been a version of IE for Mac for a long time. You will have to load Windows on your Mac in order to run IE, or try making your browser mimic IE. (In Safari, go to Safari -> Preferences, click the Advanced tab and check the box to show the Develop menu. Then, in that menu, choose User Agent -> Internet Explorer x.0.) Note that doing that will not work if the site relies on some weird non-standard feature of IE that no other browser on the planet has.

Help - I'm a newbie to Mac and still need my Internet Explorer browser!
macbook pro Mac OS X (10.4.8) Hi - I just purchased a macbook pro and am in the process of designing a website - after encountering problem after problem, the hosting company figured out that I'm using a Mac, and said that their program doesn't support Safari and I need to do my design through an Explorer browser. Microsoft discontinued Explorer for Mac, so what do I do? I heard of a program called Parallels Desktop - has anyone used it, will it work, or am I opening up Pandora's box by installing it on my computer? Changing hosting companies is not an option, so I need to make this work. THANKS!!!!!
macbook pro Mac OS X (10.4.8)
macbook pro Mac OS X (10.4.8)You're trying to use a web-site building application that doesn't support Macs? I personally would not deal with any hosting company that won't support anything beyond Windows. Whatever you build with this company will not be accessible to other Macs. But this is your prerogative.
You're correct that Internet Explorer for Mac has been discontinued and it was discontinued at version 5.2x. To run IE for Windows on your Mac you'll need something like Apple's Boot Camp <http://www.apple.com/bootcamp/>, Parallels from <http://www.parallels.com/> or if you're feeling adventurous you can try the CrossOver beta from <http://www.codeweavers.com/>, which will let you run Windows applications without Windows.
Are you opening a Pandora's Box? I don't think so. You do need to take the same precautions you would with a regular Windows machine. That means installing antivirus software and spyware software. Be sure to test your website with both your Mac browsers as well as IE for Windows.
Hope this helps! bill

Preview in browser internet explorer for mac
I use a Mac running Leopard and use Safari as my web browser.
When I try to "preview in browser" in DW, Internet explorer is not
available. Can I run it on mac and where do a get a compatible
version--and preferably without spending a lot of $.internet explorer for the mac hasn't been supported by MS for
years. Honestly, it's not worth even looking at it.
To view your work in IE for win users, consider getting
something like VMWare Fusion or Parallels or just simply using
BootCamp (which comes with Leopard), to install Windows XP/Vista
onto your Mac. -
Internet Explorer doesn't have a download for Macs, but I
need to test my web pages on that browser. Any advice?TreeC wrote:

Then you'll have to test with IE5/PC.
> How did you validate your site to ensure it worked on
other browsers?
http://validator.w3.org/
This does not guarantee that your site will "work" in all
browsers,
i.e., look the way you intend, it just checks to see if your
code has
any syntax errors and conforms to the form of document that
is declared
in your doctype. If your code validates, and there is still
something
wrong, this means that you didn't do something correctly when
you
created the page. It is no substitute for testing in as many
browsers as
you need to. Browser can take perfectly valid code and do
different
things with it. Usually these differences are trivial, but
sometimes you
have to make allowances for browser bugs.
I tested in IE6 and 7/PC, Safari/Mac (the only browser the
client cared
about) and Firefox/PC and Mac. -
Browser similar to Internet Explorer for Mac?
I've got on-line training for work that I can do from home, but the site is not fully compatible with Safari. Its good in some windows, but in others its bad enough that I can't actually do the work. The application says it requires Internet Explorer. My question - is there another browser for the Mac that may more closely match Internet Explorer that I could try?
Hi
It depends what "requires Internet Explorer" means. If it relies on Windows-only DirectX features, then you won't be able to get it working from the Mac OS no matter what browser you use. If you have an Intel Mac, you could install Windows via Boot Camp, Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion and run IE from there.
If it's more a matter of appearance, and the site relies on IE's (frankly, awful) web standards interpretation, then you might try Firefox or Camino and see if they serve you better.

MAC and Windows Internet Explorer
Is there a way to run internet explorer on a Mac?
capturedbyellen –
First welcome to the Apple Forms.
The short answer is yes – there are basically two methods that you could use:
Option 1: Run Parallels/Bootcamp and install Windows XP on your Mac. Though this will give you the greatest flexibility in running Windows apps, it also generates the most headaches – just look at the number of post concerning this option. Also this has the greatest cost $79 for Parallels (Bootcamp is free from Apple) plus the cost of Windows.
Option 2: Install Crossover from Codeweavers (www.codeweavers.com) this product is based on the WINE project and basically installs a 'Run Time' version of Windows XP. I am currently running IE6 in a ‘bottle’ with no problems as I need to access Outlook Web Access. This solution is also the cheapest ($39 for standard - $69 for Pro).
Either of the solutions should work though my preference is Crossover.
Best of Luck –

I'm looking For Mac Version intel Base Internet Explorer Browser
I need to Download the Internet Explorer browser so that I can use it to open a web Page from Staples to fill out a Job application Form, Safari and FireFox doesn't support that web page from staples. I am having a Hard time finding the right web site to download Internet Explorer, Does anyone know where I can download a Mac Version Intel Base Internet Explorer version?
Mrs. Trisha FosterTry changing the User Agent in Safari - enable the Debug menu.
Most web sites, you can tell them how to identify your browser as something other than what it is, just have to log out or reload.
Also, 98% will work with Opera which emulates IE quite well, but not always (I found 2 out of 2000 sites that would not). Another browser to look at: OmniWeb, Camino. I use Firefox 3.1a "TraceMonkey", OmniWeb, Opera (each has its own uses).
IE 5.2.3, I tried it, and it was terrible. It is old, and doesn't support any of today's web sites.
Otherwise, you are faced with running CrossOver Mac, or Windows in Fusion or Parallels, or installing on BootCamp.
