  • Internet Explorer Script Errors in HTML Help

    I am using Robohelp 8 HTML. I create both WebHelp and Microsoft HTML Help. My operating system is Vista.
    The WebHelp file will be directly called from the application software to allow users to access topic specific help.
    The Microsoft HTML help is to be attached to my company's website to allow remote users to access our online help.
    I have created a project and generated WebHelp. Everything works as designed.
    However, when I change the output to Microsoft HTML Help, I get Internet Explorer Script Errors when I try to review the output.
    The compiler seems to find exception with two specific lines, specifically, AddMasterBreadcrumbs and again, highlightSearch.
    When I attempt to review the output, I can simply click No when queried if I want to continue running scripts on this page and display the HTML help. It works as it is designed. Naturally I would prefer my users won't have to click through a few error messages to get to the help.
    If I comment these two lines out in the topics, I don't receive these errors.
    Although my work-around will allow a user to open the project without seeing those Script Errors, I am concerned that it might be introducing errors that I haven't found yet.
    Does anyone else experienced this type of error in producing HTML Help?
    Does anyone know the reason this is happening and can they offer an actual solution (and not a workaround?)
    Thanks so much!

    I've attached one of the screen shots and I took the liberty of posting the htm file (so you can track the specific line numbers to which the error messages refer). The second error message is the same, except it refers to line 117.
    I checked with the developers and they will use the WebHelp version. However, they are curious (as am I) why we get these error messages. Any suggestions you can provide will be appreciated.
    Thanks again.

  • Adobe Flash/Photoshop/After Effects CS4 Installation - Internet Explorer Script Error

    Greetings everyone. Another Adobe Installation disaster story.
    I'm trying to install the aforementioned products (Flash, Photoshop, After Effects) on my computer, but I get about 20 "Internet Explorer Script Error"'s every time. [I don't even use Internet Explorer] I don't understand why the installation worked on a different computer I own but not this one. Both of them are running Windows XP Home.
    I've already tried removing all Adobe Products, using msicuu2.exe, CS4CleanupScript from Adobe, etc...
    This is the install log that was generated for Flash.
    Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Trying to install latest version of Flash for Firefox on WinXP, get Internet Explorer Script Error

    I'm trying to install the latest version of Flash (filename install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aih.exe), browser = Firefox 14 (current), OS = Windows XP.  I've tried multiple times, making sure to disable Norton Antivirus Autoprotect first.
    At some point along the process - either during download or during installation - I get the following error message:
    Internet Explorer Script Error
    Line: 1
    Char: 10010
    Error: 'ActionLaunchAdobe' is undefined
    Code: 0
    URL: http://127.0.0.1:1174/app/_js/adobe.js
    Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? [yes] [no]
    Whether I answer [yes] or [no] the result is the same - the program hangs. It does not close, and when I close it manually it asks if I really want to stop it. But if I leave it there, nothing happens.
    Per advice of the website, I uninstalled Flash in order to start over fresh. What that means is that, instead of having an outdated version of Flash, I now have none.
    I've tried to RTFM but searches for this error come up empty.  I'm curious why Internet Explorer is being involved in this to begin with. But mostly, I'm just curious how to get this thing to work.
    Thanks for whatever help you can give me.
    Dave

    We're investigating this issue and we'd like to get some additional details.  I'd appreciate if anyone experiencing these errors could do the following steps:
    Download the Flash Player installer
    Open a command prompt and navigate to the installer location (eg. "cd c:\users\username\downloads\")
    Run the installer, using a “/debug”.argument  (eg. “install_flashplayer11x32ax_chrd_aih.exe /debug”)
    Once the installer runs and the error is reproduced, a file named “host.developer.log” will be created in your system’s temp folder.
    You can quickly access the temp folder by clicking on Start > Run, then type "%temp%".
    Locate the "host.developer.log" file and either post the contents in a reply or send directly to [email protected]
    Along with the debug log, please include the following info:
    Operating System (if you're on XP, what service pack do you have installed)
    Browser
    Network proxy setup (if applicable)
    Thanks!

  • Internet explorer script error in BSP application

    Hi,
    I am receiving Internet Explorer script error when I try to navigate between different pages in a BSP application/navigate between diff page fragemnts within the sqame page.
    Error - "An error occurred in the script on this page."
    Line - 480, char - 33
    error - Object expected
    code - 0
    URL - <Page URL>
    Whether I click Yes or No to continue running the scripts, I still face the same issue.
    The strange part is that this application runs fine in Prod system , but is giving error in Test and Dev systems. There is no difference in the code. There are no Java scripts used in this page. In the whole application as such, there are a few scripts being used.
    The only difference is the Web dispatchers connected to these systems.
    Please let me know in case of any pointers to this error.
    TIA,
    Regards
    Deepthi

    Sachin,
    Thanks for the reply.
    The following is the URL in the error -
    https://<server>/sap(bD1lbiZjPTEwMA==)/bc/bsp/sap/<BSP appn name>/<page>.htm?edit_mode=I
    The page in this URL does not have any JS being used.
    Also, the target pages for this page also do not have any JS.
    How come the application is working fine in Prod system and giving errors in Test system when no changes have been done to the application since atleast a month?
    What are the factors which can create this diff behaviour?
    Also, how can I check if a Java script has any error? Does Web Dispatcher have any role to play in this whole scenario?
    Thanks once again,
    Deepthi

  • Internet Explorer Script Error when running report with user-entered params

    We are using Crystal Reports Version 11.0.0.1282.  We have multiple copies each installed on a separate computer.  We have a relatively simple report with a prompt for 2 values (parameters) to be selected or input by the users.  The desktop is either Windows XP SP3 or Windows Server 2003 SP2  On all the XP/SP3 computers, this report works as expected.  On the exception computer, the Windows Server2003 Desktop, we see the prompting screen with place holders for graphics instead of the buttons.  When we attempt to select a value for the parameter by keying in the value and clicking on the OK link (no button), we see message box titled "Internet Explorer Script Error" with text: An error has occurred in the script on this page.
    Line: xxx (varies depending on param chosen)
    char 1
    error: Object expected
    url: file:///c:/doc...../temp/1/prompting1.html
    ===============================
    Searhing around the forum and using Google, I found a suggestion to be copying the "prompting" folder and dll from a known working system - tried this, it didn't work.
    So. I still need a solution. Any other suggestions??

    If I create the report without asking for user-entered params, it works.

    The active browser on the computer is IE7 - 7.0.5730.13
    I am using the installed crystal reports 11 program to run the report.  I open the report in CR by going to File/Open and selecting the report. Then I get prompted for my ms sql login info, which I enter.  Then I see the "Enter Values" window with my data entry fields; but I don't see the nice formatting and buttons which I see when I run this from the other computers; I see only the placeholders.  I select or enter data and click on the "OK" link.  Then the message box pops up.  The message box pops up when I click on any of the links or on the "x" in the upper right.  Mesage box is explicit - Intenet Explorer Script Error, etc., as I described in my original post.
    Thanks

  • Installing firefox brings up internet explorer script error

    I've clearly installed some kind of malware, etc... Now, I'm trying to install firefox completely new and right upon startup, directly after asking if I want to run the install I get a popup "Internet Explorer Script Error"
    An error has occurred in the script on the page.
    Line: 3
    Char: 4412
    Error: Object Expected
    Code: 0
    URL: http://d1w1h2aw6b6mz2.cloudfront.net/?v=7&aff=A004
    Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
    If I click no another of the same window will show up with different text. If I click yes, then the installation window has a a blinking textbox that I was seeing in firefox before I uninstalled it, "You may be the 1,000,000 visitor". The installation window itself reads about ConstaSurf program.

    And... after Firefox gets installed, before you run it, try creating a clean profile that won't be affected by your earlier settings file and extensions.
    '''Create a new Firefox profile'''
    A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
    Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
    firefox.exe -P
    Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
    Click the Create Profile button. I recommend using the default location suggested (i.e., skip the button that lets you change the folder). Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
    Cleaner?? If so, we can point you to articles on restoring your last bookmark backup to the new profile, and moving over any other critical data.
    Or you can try to clean your old profile, which might be less work in the end.
    When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

  • Internet Explorer Script Error - an error has occurred in the script on this page.

    I am using Adobe Contribute CS4, version 4.1 and have the following error message when trying to administer a website of a new client.
    Internet Explorer Script Error

    Yes  No
    As this is the only website I am seeing this error message, I am wondering if indeed there is a problem with the scripts on the page.  Does anyone know how to fix this scripting problem?
    Thanks in advance for your assistance!

    Windows version is...?
    What pages are giving you problems? [post links to same]
    Are you getting the script errors only when attempting to print or...?
    Has your printer's manufacturer confirmed that your currently installed printer software is IE11-compatible (yet)?

    I opened  a support case at business objects. From what i have been told, this may have something to do with the localization settings. So most probably this has nothing to do with IE settings.
    I am going to keep you on track as soon as I have more information.

  • Internet explorer fix connection error

    I have an application that creates some entries in the IE(Internet explorer) under LAN settings in the use automatic configuration script.
    Now when my application exits. It deletes the entries it made and only the default or older text should be there. And it should restore all the old settings. In order to achieve this first I am copying the value from registry before my application makes any
    entries by using RegQueryValueEx(hKey,L"AutoConfigURL",NULL,NULL,(BYTE*)buffer,&dwBufLen) and copying the value of AutoConfigURLfrom here to other place in registry.(I am creating new entries in registry for this). Post when my application exits
    I copy the AutoConfigURL string from the place where i backed up and restore back to IE settings. below is my code.:
    bool Timeout::CopyRegistryProxySettings(HKEY hKeyRoot, LPCWSTR lpSubKey)
    wchar_t buffer[MAX_PATH];
    DWORD dwBufLen;
    DWORD dwValue ;
    DWORD dwDataSize = sizeof(DWORD);
    memset(buffer, 0, sizeof buffer);
    dwBufLen = MAX_PATH;
    HKEY hKey;
    if (RegOpenKeyEx(HKEY_CURRENT_USER, L"Software\\BackupSettings\\Internet Settings", 0, KEY_ALL_ACCESS, &hKey) == ERROR_SUCCESS)
    if( ERROR_SUCCESS ==
    RegGetValue(HKEY_CURRENT_USER, L"Software\\BackupSettings\\Internet Settings", L"AutoConfigURL", RRF_RT_REG_SZ, NULL, NULL, NULL))
    if(ERROR_SUCCESS == RegQueryValueEx(hKey,L"AutoConfigURL",NULL,NULL,(BYTE*)buffer,&dwBufLen))
    int len= lstrlen(buffer);
    buffer[len+1]='\0';
    int len1= sizeof(buffer);
    lstrcpy(AutoConfigURL,buffer);
    memset(buffer, 0, sizeof buffer);
    return 1;
    bool Timeout::RestoreNewRegistry (HKEY hKeyRoot, LPCWSTR Subkey)
    HKEY hKey;
    DWORD size = 0;
    DWORD type;
    DWORD data = 0;
    if (RegOpenKeyEx(HKEY_CURRENT_USER, L"Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Internet Settings", 0, KEY_ALL_ACCESS, &hKey) == ERROR_SUCCESS)
    if( ERROR_SUCCESS ==
    RegGetValue(HKEY_CURRENT_USER, L"Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Internet Settings", L"AutoConfigURL", RRF_RT_REG_SZ, NULL, NULL, NULL))
    RegSetValueEx(hKey, L"AutoConfigURL", NULL,REG_SZ,(BYTE*)AutoConfigURL, (DWORD)((lstrlen(AutoConfigURL)+1)*sizeof(TCHAR)));
    return 1;
    Now everything works as expected but the problem is that after running my application when i open IE it shows the error Page cannot be displayed .Please check the connection settings. I cross verified all the entries in the registry are correct post running
    the application but still facing this issue.
    On clicking fix my connection it shows windows could not detect automatically network proxies settings.
    Any work around for this.? Do we have any Windows API that can take back up of the registry and restore it states as usual back,  without copying the individual sub key values. What are the places in the registry where I should look for IE settings. For
    the above problem. Sorry if I made any mistake in asking question. Thanks In advance for help.

    Does your application works well if you don't use these apis and edit the registry manually?  This may give you some hints:

  • "Requires Internet Explorer 6.0" error message

    I'm installing Acrobat 9 Standard on Windows XP.
    The installation begins and then quickly returns an error message saying the installation requires Internet Explorer 6.0.
    I'm already running IE 6.0 -- 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2
    What's wrong?!

    I'm having the same issue. Our environment is Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8. Deploying with AD or manual install give the same error message. The registry and IE8 both report the correct version.

  • Internet Explorer & Scripts

    When I use Java script etc., ie 7 blocks it when used with
    it's default settings unless user allows scripts. The yellow
    blocker info bar display quite a scary message for non technical
    user, "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has
    restricted this webpage from running scripts or Active X controls
    that could access your computer..." I suspect most ordinary users
    leave ie security settings to it's default.
    However, I see Microsoft websites use plenty Java Scripts but
    they don't get blocked? Is there a way to get around this
    problem?
