Internet Fails on Wakeup from Hibernation

My internet connection fails and has to be repaired after nearly every wakeup from hibernation. System is new T61 with XP.
Thanks for help.

Did anyone ever find a good solution to this? My T43 (2668, XP SP3) does something similar, not sure if the same:
ONLY when my system hibernates while I have an active internet connection specifically via my Verizon Wireless PC Card, then when I resume fr Hibernation, ALL internet connections are dead -- can't use VZW, not WiFi, not Ethernet. When I've been able to test each connection, they all appear fine in terms of giving IP address and showing "connected," but I can't surf, can't connect to email, can't do anything that requires web connection. It's easy to fix, just reboot and all is well. But 1. that's a hassle, and 2. that eats up more battery (usually after I've swapped to 2nd battery), whole point is to get the most out of batteries when there's no AC available, so I'd like to actually fix the cause.
When my system hibernates under any other circumstance, it resumes and reconnects to internet just fine. So, I try to pay attention and shut down the VZW connection when I get close to empty battery, but I don't always catch it in time.
Any solutions? Thanks much.

  • X301 - Fail to resume from hibernation

    Hello,
this failure to resume from hibernation mode is actually the only problem I have encountered so far but it does actually annoy me. The BIOS-Update or this (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70477.html) update did not help either.
Do you need any more specifications?
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your effort!

I have the same problem too. Almost the system fails to resume from sleep mode everytime. I changed my power setting, when I close lid, it will go to hibenation mode, but the situation does not become much better. It is really annoying. I lost my current session, if I forget to shut down my system, before I close the lid.
This problem did not happen so frequently, until I updated the audio driver and turbo memory driver on aug. 30. The dear Thinkpad team, could you take a deeper investigation and make a solution for us?
In windows event logger, I find the following error message:
Description: The last sleep transition was unsuccessful. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, failed, or lost power during the sleep transition.
    Source: Kernel Power
    Level: Critical
If you need further information, I will be cooperated.

  • Windows 7 – 802.1x Authentication fails after wakeup from Sleep/Hibernation

In our environment we randomly have issues with 802.1x authentications after Sleep or Hibernation of our client-systems.
Clients have Windows 7 as OS and are up-to-date regarding regular updates/patches. Drivers (at least
network and chipset) on affected machines have also been updated.
802.1x authentication method is PEAP (EAP-MSCHAPv2) and systems are validated
    against Active Directory by RADIUS.
Analyzing the logs of our RADIUS-Server you can see that the client trys to authenticate
via MAC instead of its DNS-Name/FQDN (desired method). So the request fails and the client is assigned to a different VLAN without access to the company’s resources. Following steps like DHCP work correctly.
We have enabled the tracing of RAS-components on some of our clients by executing the following command-line: netsh ras set tracing
    * enabled
Analyzing the client’s log-file “C:\Windows\tracing\svchost_RASCHAP.LOG” it looks like that the
component is simply not up at that point in time, because there are absolutely no entries making it impossible to search for a specific error/error-code. Side-fact: unplugging the network-cable and plugging it in again forces the client to
authenticate again – successfully and with entries in the given log.
There has been an article KB980295 describing my issue but that does not apply to Windows 7. Hotfix KB2736878 cannot be applied (0x80240017
    - install is not needed because no updates are applicable).
Does anyone have an idea how you could force the component to initialize earlier (if it is possible at all)?
Any other advice is highly appreciated as well!
    Thanks a lot

    Hi Deason,
sorry for my very very late reply on this.
Even if I could not solve the problem yet, I can tell about some progress.
As both KB-Files (980295 and 2481614) sadly did not help with this at all and even setting the blockperiod to 1 (I saw that 0 doesn't seem to be supported here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831813.aspx) didn't make any difference I
have been working on how to reproduce the issue. So I wrote a tiny script disabling and enabling the client's network-port on and on (I have removed outputs and logging to keep it short):
    $doAllTheTime = $true
    $i = 0
    $DomainName = (Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_ComputerSystem).domain
    $NWAdapter = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_NetworkAdapter | ? {$_.name -like "*gigabit*"}
    while ($doAllTheTime -eq $true)
    $i++
    $NWAdapter.disable() | out-null; Start-Sleep -Seconds 10
    $NWAdapter.enable() | out-null; Start-Sleep -Seconds 10
    $ping = $null
    $ping = test-connection $DomainName -count 1
    if ($ping -eq $null)
    "Error with connection"; return
So I kept it running and after a dozens of loops the issue reoccurred. I could see that it is the dot3svc-Service that does not response anymore by the RASCHAP-log given above. Restarting the service manually triggered a re-authentication that was then successful.
So I added the restart-service-cmdlet to my script in case that the error was detected and configured a Scheduled Task triggered by the event that a network-cable has been plugged in (has to be provided by the driver). Script and Scheduled Task
have then been deployed to our clients.
Even if this is no solution it definitely helps with a high rate of incidents -
but not entirely... so I am still looking for further steps to
solve this. Any ideas are highly appreciated.
Thank you very much for your support!!! Uhle

  • MBP Bootcamp XPSP3 slow AFTER wakeup from hibernation

Very weard problem on my brand new MBP santa rosa.
WINXPSP3 runs fine and fast if booted cleanly. But when i hibernate and then wakeup it is extremely slow incl screen draws, explorer window etc etc. Only a reboot will give back the normal speed.

    Any ideas ?????
    p.s.
    Have latest bootcamp drivers (2.1).

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

  • Airport fails on wakeup from sleep

    Hi,
I've got a iBook G3 running 10.3.9 that will not see any wireless networks when it wakes up from sleeping. I've tried using programs like MacStumbler and iStumbler but even they will not see any networks (and there are usually at least 5 within range). However, if I restart my computer and then log in the computer sees all the wireless networks and automatically connects to mine. The problem only occurs when waking up from sleep.
As solutions I've tried logging in as another user, repairing disk permissions, and physically removing and re-inserting the airport card. None of these have worked though. I believe the issues started right around the time I installed the latest security patch.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I might try to get my wireless network to work again when my computer wakes up from sleeping? Thank you so much.

Thank you very much for the advice. The link you posted actually goes to: Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, but I tried the following instructions to reset the PMU (from this website: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449#faq4
For iBook (16 VRAM) and later models of iBook, there is no physical reset button.
    1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
    2. Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.
    3. Wait 5 seconds.
    4. Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.
But I'm not sure that is the right way to reset the PMU. I couldn't see a physical PMU button to reset, which is why I tried the above way.
When I attempted the PMU reset and rebooted my computer the time was still accurate but the modified date on my hard drive changed to 12/31/1969 6:00 PM. Not sure what that means but I wanted to add as much info as I could.
In the end I saw the same thing, my computer connected when it first started up, but upon waking from sleep it still didn't connect. Is there anything else I can try? Thank you again for all your help.

    Hi all,
On a SA 520 I got this error, every 10 seconds:
    sqlite3QueryResGet failed.Query:SELECT * FROM networkInterface WHERE interfaceName=\'bdg1\
Internet access was very spoty and I couldn't reach the firewall administration on the LAN interface. Had to shutdown the appliance to get it working again.
    Firmware version is 2.1.7.1
    What could have happenend?
    With kind regards,

    Hi, everything in the "Quick Reference" section should be commented out with ;
You should change those settings further down in the php.ini file.
    Example:
    error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED & ~E_STRICT
    display_errors = Off

I you have any clue what might be going, I would be very happy to hear it. It's really annoying, as I have to kill explorer.exe and thereby close all my folder windows when this happens.
    Thank you!
    Best regards,
    David Trapp

    Hello,
thanks for having a look. However, I already ran SFC before posting on this forum (as part of my own investigation) and it came back clean. RescueTime (a time tracking tool) is probably not the culprit because it happened also several times in the past without
RescueTime being running (that was because I had accidentally removed it from autorun at that time).
Unfortunately, I can't follow your "invalid date" explanation. I don't think an "invalid date" is anywhere involved; in fact, the method in question is called "_TreeInvalidateItemInfo" and not "_TreeInvalidDateItemInfo"
(note that there is only one "d"), so I assume its job is just to invalidate (and in turn, refresh) the cached information about nodes in the left pane's folder tree of the explorer window(s) - since the folder tree is the only NamespaceTreeControl
(whose corresponding class name is CNscTree) in explorer folder view windows. As I see it, something is causing explorer to repeatedly refresh the folder tree data, but I am stuck at finding out what exactly.
    Best regards,
    David Trapp
EDIT: Disassembling ExplorerFrame!CNscTree::_TreeInvalidateItemInfo confirms that, because it seems to call TreeView_SetItem for a tree node and its parent (possibly with all fields set to *_CALLBACK), and CNscTree::_UpdateItemDisplayInfo
    for the parent node.
EDIT2: I'd love to dig more into the trace, however I am hitting a wall at function names/addresses. Everywhere where I would expect a function name/address (such as the "by stack" views), I only see question marks instead. What
    could be the reason?

    Hi
Did you try to refresh the connection? Something similar happens on my notebook but not with LAN but with WLan. If you right click on the small lan icon you will see the option repair. Check it.
Have found also this possibility. I dont know if it will help but try it.
    1. go to [Start] -> [Control Panel] -> select [System]
    2. On system properties dialog box select [Hardware] tab -> click [Device manager]
    3. On Device manager dialog box select [Networking adapters] -> double click [Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection]
    4. Go to [Advanced] tab -> select [Wake On Settings] property -> Select [Wake on Magic & Directed]
    5. Press [OK] to close the dialog box.

My MBA indicates my connection is timing out. My wifi on other laptops work in the house. Diagnostics indicate wifi settings failed, network settings failed, ISP failed, Internet failed, and server failed. What can I do?

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved. Some of these steps are only possible if you have control over the wireless router.
    Step 1
Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
    Step 2
Restart the router and the computer. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 3
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 4
    Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
    Step 5
In OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and fix the issues listed in the Summary, if any.
    Step 6
    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 7
You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:
Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    Potential sources of interference
    Step 8
Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    Step 9
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

  • T400 Stuck at 800MHz after resume from Hibernation

This evening, my T400's processor speed was stuck at 800MHz after resuming from hibernation. Machine was plugged in. Power manager processor speed settings were not set to lowest performance. Even running processes that put the CPU at 100%, the machine stayed clocked at 800MHz. All drivers, BIOS, etc. are updated to the most recent version.
Eventually, I shut down the machine, and then started it back up. Everything was fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions to prevent this from happening again?

Hello everyone, I observed a new correlation: last time when my touchpad was recognized as "PS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad" (instead of "PS/2 Generic Mouse") happend *after resuming from hibernation*, and also with the concomitant phenomenon of having no sound after resuming. (Sorry for the oversophisticated language, I have just had a philosophy of mind exam ) After this I hibernated the laptop again and resumed, and I *had* sound, but had the touchpad recognized as "PS/2 Generic Mouse", so it seems that I am lucky with the touchpad just when I am unlucky with sound. And, as far as I remember, the earlier occasions when I was lucky with the touchpad were also after resuming from hibernation. So it seems that something else than psmouse sometimes fails to restart after the hibernation, and this is what causes psmouse to work as expected! I am not an expert in kernel, so could someone help me, what to look for? An obvious guess would be sound-related modules, but it would be really weird if they had anything to do with the touchpad, so for now I don't start to learn how sound is handled in Linux (it looks like a lot to learn...)

  • Oracle Server 11.2.0.1.0 64-bit fails when invoked from InstallShield

I'm trying to install the Oracle Server 11.2.0.1.0 64-bit on Windows 2008 SP1 from the InstallShield 2010.
The installation is silent. Invoked by command line:
J:\Oracle_11.2.0_x64\OracleServer_11.2.0.1_x64\setup.exe ORACLE_HOME_NAME="ARAXI_11" -silent -nowelcome -force -nowait -noconsole -loglevel fine -noconfig -ignoreSysPrereqs use_prereq_checker=false -responseFile C:\Oracle\11.2.0\installation\scripts\SVRCUSTOM11.2.0.rsp
The problem is that when the command is invoked from command line (cmd), the installation is successful.
However, when the same command is invoked from under the InstallShield, the installation fails on Architecture requirement check:

    The questions:
    1. Why the requirement checks give different results when installation is invoked from CMD and from InstallShield?
    2. Why the requirement checks are done despite the parameters "-ignoreSysPrereqs" and "use_prereq_checker=false"?
    3. What should I do to get the installation pass (either remove the check or make it satisfying)?
PS. The 32 bit Oracle Server installation on Windows 2003 works without problem when invoked from InstallShield.

Please use 2008R2 if you want to install 11gR2 versionThank you for that update. Possibly it will help me to solve another trouble.
Regarding the problem I described, the issue is that I install Oracle Client 32 bit prior to trying to install Oracle Servier 64 bit.
The Oracle Client setup had started RemoteExecService.exe 32 bit process. And the process remained running after the installation completed.
The Oracle Server setup utilizes the running RemoteExecService.exe process. Since the process is 32 bit, the architecture requirement check had failed.
I've added to my script killing the process
    taskkill /F /IM RemoteExecService.exe
before invoking the Oracle Server installation.
That way the Oracle Server setup starts another RemoteExecService.exe process and the new process is 64 bit.
    The architecture requirement succeed.

  • How do I stop my MacBook Pro from hibernating?

I purchase my first MacBook Pro (late 2011 model) a few months ago. I Installed OS X Mountain Lion and everything was working fine. I could close the lid, and open it again, perhaps half a day later, and it would wake from sleep and allow me to enter my password.
Now, in the past month (perhaps due to software updates), the behaviour has changed. Now, it goes in to hibernation when the lid is shut for more than a few hours. Upon waking from hibernation it takes a good 30 seconds or more before the clock updates and I can enter my password.
I have been in to System Preferences -> Energy Saver, and changed the settings to never enter display sleep or computer sleep, and I have disabled putting hard disks to sleep when possible. I have also used the pmset utility to set the timeout for hibernation to start to 2 days. I have tried reseting the PRAM and the SMC.
    None of this has worked.
Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone know a way I can stop my MacBook Pro from hibernating so often?
Just to clarify: Everything mentioned above has been when it is plugged in to the wall charger.

It just loads them it doesn't download them. So quit iPhoto.

Every now and then (every 15 minutes-half an hour or so), my internet fails. It says in the Diagnostics that the internet and server have failed. Happens on my sister's mac as well. Is this our modem? Our PCs don't do this so it has something to do with the macs.

    Hi Patrick,
I'm starting to think it's either an AirPort card issue or something to do with the Mac OS. I have stopped using wireless as much as possible in my home (have wired up several new Ethernet outlets), and it sure is nice having Internet run at the speed it's supposed to all the time, and with no drops. Might be something to consider.
    In the meantime:
Open System Preferences > Network > select AirPort > click on Advanced > TCP/IP > Configure IPv6 > Off > OK > Apply > Turn AirPort Off > Turn AirPort On
    Open System Preferences > Network > select Ethernet > click on Advanced > TCP/IP > Configure IPv6 > Off > OK > Apply
(FOR LION: If you can’t see an option to turn ipv6 off, set it to link-local only.)

  • I am having an issue waking my late 2007 MBP from hibernation after update to 10.8

I am having an issue waking my late 2007 MBP from hibernation after I updated to OSX 10.8 Mountain lion. Anything I can do to fix this? I cannot keep doing a hard reset.

for people with this problem in the future. I ended up solving this by taking out and reinserting the RAM. I had previously bought RAM from crucial.com and I thought it may have been a compatibility issue with that. After taking out the RAM and reinserting I have not had the problem. Be sure to insert the RAM with force, almost to the point it hurts. I think the problem for the MAC not waking from sleep was due to the RAM not properly inserted or being jarred out over time and not related to the instal of 10.8. also, if you are no longer under applecare and you call apple with an issue you get retards.
    cool. thanks. <3

  • Satellite L30-PSL33 does not turn on from hibernation

    Hello,
as i mentioned in my previous post i also have a problem with hibernation. The thing is that when i leave it to hibernate and turn it on later sometimes it doesn't load Windows-the loading bar reaches its end and then it stops "thinking" so i have to shut it down and start it ...
The OS is Win Xp Pro SP2 on Toshiba Satellite L30-PSL33.For example it loads Windows from hibernation 2 or 3 times and then after that it won't load the OS.
Please give me an advice how to fix that..
    Thank you

Its not easy to say whats could be wrong because as you said this issue happens sometimes and therefore its not easy to replicate this fault.
Im an owner of a Sat L30. I use the Vista on my L30 and did not receive any similar problems.
I talked to some people and read also on some computer websites that this error could be software related.
One question; what OS was preinstalled on this notebook; XP or Vista?
Maybe you have to update the OS on your notebook to the latest state.
Please also check if any 3rd party programs dont affected the OS badly.
