Internet is OK, Apple TV refuses to function

Started about two nights ago; took a long while for Netflix to load, figured it was just my internet connection so I left it alone and it eventually started working again.
But then yesterday, Netflix still was not loading for me; my internet was running OK, all my devices detected the Wi-Fi too. So then I figured that since this wasn't the first time this has happened, I would just do what I did last time to fix the issue. I restarted the Apple TV: nothing, still wasn't allowing me to access Netflix or even go back to the main menu at that, all I was getting was that infernal loading screen. Then I resorted to resetting the Apple TV, I did that, and now I approached another issue. It wasn't letting me access iTunes so I could log in and get the main menu that wasn't just Home Sharing or Settings. And yet my internet was completely fine, once again; I could do whatever I want with my laptop, my phone, gaming consoles. And of course I went through the process of power cycling and encountered the same results.
Later that evening after almost endlessly searching the support community for answers I found one: another user seemed to be having the same problem I was and was told to update their Apple TV. And that's what I did and everything seemed to be running fine! Was Netflix a bit slow and choppy? Yes, but I made no mind to it.
And now enter today, right now as I am typing it has been fifteen minutes and I'm back to the "Accessing Netflix" loading screen and as well, every time I press the menu button on the remote to go to the Menu it just brings me back to the same screen.
I am really not keen on going through the motions of yesterday, so any and all suggestions or (hopefully) solutions that you can offer will be greatly appreciated. In advanced I thank you so much for any aid you can offer.
Note: I've got a gen 3 Apple TV

I would restore the ATV. You will need a micro USB to USB cable. Attach the ATV to your computer and perform the restore within iTunes.

  • Problems with Internet Radio on Apple TV

Recently, Apple TV Internet Radio just stopped working, all other functions still work: HomeShare, iTunes, Internet (NetFlix, YouTube).  Reset Apple TV, and Internet Radio still won't work, either get a black screen, a spinning wait ball thingy, or an error message (saying 'Can not access Internet Radio")  Just before I had the problems whole Apple TV got a little buggy, menus were off a little, NetFlix streaming very buggy, menus didn't come up the same every time ... very odd.
Internet connection is ok, works great, not an internet issue.
    Thanks for any help.

It looks like a quite a few people are have this same problem and no solution yet. Here's a different thread where people have been talking about the problem.

I have downloaded IOS7 on my iPhone and all calendar events have disappeared. The general functions of the calendar have changed and are definitely not 'user friendly'. How can I retrieve my calendar events. Will Apple improve the calendar function or revert to the previous system. Even the typing function on IOS 7 is faulty - very slow to respond to the keyboard. I no longer enjoy using my iPhone. Can anyone assist. Thank you

Very strange! All of my calendar events have reappeared. This has happened one week after downloading iOS 7
The calendar however,  is not easy to use.
The typing function on the phone has  become even slower. Have to wait for each letter to show on screen.

  • Internet Connection - Your Apple wireless device does not have a valid IP.

I just bought an Apple TimeCapsule and set it up normally, following instructions to my Arris cable network on the Videotron provider here in Quebec, Canada. The TimeCapsule did appear as a wireless device on my MacBook Pro (after updating the AirPort software from the provided CD - as was instructed). I went through the whole installation process to obtain at the end this error:
Internet Connection - Your Apple wireless device does not have a valid IP.
The only provided instructions were to check the cable and then contact your Internet provider. Well it seems clear to me that if I contact my provider and say that the internet connection works fine directly on my computer, also fine through my "normal" wireless router but not with my new TimeCapsule, I won't get much of a response.
After a lot of research, a friend indicated the solution in my case.
You have to really reset the cable modem to convince it to start giving out IPs again.
    To do this:
    1. Unplug your TimeCapsule (possibly you might have to reset to factory defaults - see the documentation)
    2. Unplug your cable modem
    3. Reset your cable modem by pressing the reset button with a pen (or something) for several seconds.
    4. Plug your cable modem back in and let it reboot/restart - until the lights are back on.
    5. Plug in your TimeCapsule
Everything should now work and you can restart your AirPort set-up on your Mac.
    Good luck!

My ISP is AOL.  The service is DSL via a broadband modem.  Somewhere during the setup process there appears to be a communicatiosn issue between the Airport Extreme Base Station and the DSL modem.  When I hook the DSL modem directly to my iMac I can connect to the internet without any issues.
I tried the factory reset and the DSL modem reboot process described in other posts and seemed very close to success...until the internet setup step.  That is where this issue first presented itself.

  • My iCloud is defaulting to an old Hotmail address that I no longer use, my apple ID is currently functioning fine with a gmail account.  I'm not able to change my iCloud email on my phone or on desktop... Any advice?

My iCloud is defaulting to an old Hotmail address that I no longer use, my apple ID is currently functioning fine with a gmail account.  I'm not able to change my iCloud email on my phone or on desktop... Any advice?

You would have to change your Apple ID back to your old hotmail address (https://appleid.apple.com ) in order to turn off "Find My iPhone" and change the iCloud ID. After you changed it back and verified your old hotmail address you should be able turn off "Find My iPhone" and to temporarily delete your iCloud account from your devices. After that you can change your Apple ID back to your gmail address again. After it is verfied, you could add back your iCloud account by using your gmail address.

Well, since you've had the same problem, with three different phones, that all use different size sim cards, it seems pretty obvious the problem is with your carrier/coverage & nothing to do with your phone or sim card.

My problem is the following : when I open Mail 1.3, on my 10.3.9 version, the application refuse to function correctly : the first window wich must open at the beginning doesn't want to open, and when I want to quit this, I can't quit it normaly, it's always necessary I force it to quit.
If you have a solution to my probleme, thanks to specify it to me (in French if possible, otherwise in English !).

In case anyone is still scoping this, I am having the same problem. Additionally, I have zeroed and random wrote my harddrive, trying to avoid that archive and install problem, reinstalling my OS from the ground up and installing OS 10.3 as an upgrade. No matter what, Mail is still pulling the same stunt... I open it, but the viewer window doesn't pop up until I select a new viewer window from "File". When I try to quit, I have to actually force quit the app. Also, Mail will not finish logging in or fetching new mail...whether or not this is the same for the previous post, I don't know, though.

  • Apple mouse right click function stopped working

After 4 and a half years my Apple mouse right click function on my iMac stopped working.  However the mouse works perfectly on my other iMac.  The apple store said the problem is in the iMac.  Any ideas how to fix this?
    Thanks, jpm3577

First log into another user account on your Mac and see if it work correctly there.  If not boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and try there.  Also try another USB port on the Mac if it's a wired mouse.

  • Is it possible to watch a movie purchased from Itunes without internet or an apple device?

I've read a lot of different websites about whether I can watch movies without internet and they've gone back and forth. I want to watch movies on bus trips and I don't want to spend money buying something I can't use for what I want. Help??

Is it possible to watch a movie purchased from Itunes without internet or an apple device?
What do you want to watch it on?
You need a computer (Mac or Windows) with iTunes, an AppleTV, an iPod touch, iPhone or iPad.

  • Internet radio via apple tv

is it possible to stream internet radio via apple tv?

I subscribe to Live365 internet radio (thousands of stations) and it plays through my Apple TV which is connected to my receiver to play through my surround sound system.  It works great, however, when I select my radio station in Live365, it downloads into my download folder.  You then have to click open the download which opens in iTunes. Make sure your speaker designation in iTunes is Apple TV.

  • Apple TV refusing to work after factory reboot

Due to the impossibility of connecting the AppleTv to internet I followed apple suggestions and performed a factory restart. Only when I started the device he tried beforehand to log to the internet, what I was not able to do even before, and lacking that it stucks on the "Connection not available" menu with its three options all of which try beforehand to establish the wireless connection returning me to the starting point and not allowing to do anything else.
I tried to unplug it but I am soon left at the same point.
From my mac I can ping the AppleTv.
I suspect the problem is with my mac and its routing capabity but I do not do what to do.
Please note the original problem with the internet connection - even if it said the problem was with airport even if the songs and photos transfer worked properly - good days they were... - arose after two weeks in which I kept the AppleTv turned off.
My wireless network consists of a MacBook connected to the internet by USB, a Time Capsule for backup but with no internet connection (presently working correctly), and the stuck AppleTv.
    Thanks for any help,
    Fabrizio

If I understand you correctly you are turning off the Time capsule and trying to establish an ad hoc network between the macbook and the tv. Have you followed these instructions.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8339.html
However, I can't help but wonder why you are using a USB modem when you have a Time capsule available to you. Why not use the TC as your DHCP server and keep it running, that way the tv will have internet access even when the macbook is switched off.

I have optimum cable and internet included. Do i need to have my optimum internet inorder for my Airport Express to function?

The AirPort Express requires a modem with an Internet connection if you want it to be able to access the Internet.
So, if Optimum is providing Internet service, but you do not have a modem.....you will need to ask Optimum to provide you with one.
