Internet issues - Firefox is the only browser that works

I'm connected to the internet through a wireless connection. Firefox is my default browser, and I have no issues using it. However, no other browsers can connect to the internet. I've tried Safari, Opera and Camino and none of them work. It doesn't make any sense to me why this wouldn't work if Firefox works just fine.

  • Firefox the only browser that works?

I'm having a really strange problem...
Since maybe a couple weeks ago Firefox is the only browser that works for me. Other browsers can't seem to connect to ANY website. I've tried Safari and Opera... they don't work.
    I have:
    tried several different wifi signals
    reinstalled Safari, Opera, and Firefox
reinstalled OS X (archive and install)
    repaired disk permissions
No matter what I do, Firefox is the only thing that works

That's not a particularly good thing. Browsers should NEVER ignore system wide proxy settings. They need to change that.
    Firefox has 3 Proxy modes:
    a) No proxy
    b) Auto-detect proxy settings for this network
    c) Manual proxy configuration
    The default is "No proxy"
If you select "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network", Firefox will use the Network proxy setting.

  • It seems I cannot use Sky Go even if I use Firefox. The only one that works is IE 11.

I was using Google Chrome, but it seems they do not support Silverlight which Sky Go use. I was told that Firefox would work. It doesn't. The only one that works is Internet Explorer 11, which is very slooow. Why can't I use Firefox to view Sky Go?

My Sky homepage. If I want to watch cricket say, it come up with ' sky go unavailable at this present moment'. If I log on to my IE 11, sky go works Ok. I have the Silverlight add-on or plug-in whatever you call it.
    Still no joy in Firefox.

  • Designing websites -- what code do I need to add to allow a pop behind window to open from one of my webpages? I have code, but Firefox is the only browser that won't pop behind. It pops on top instead. That's not what I want.

I have designed websites, and would like a pop under (new window) to be displayed BEHIND the current/open window. I have code that does this on all browsers except firefox. For some reason, Firefox insists on opening up the new window on top of the active browser window session. It covers the entire page. Reason is because I purposely have a new full-size window opening BEHIND the open browser. Is there some code I can add to my web page script that forces the new window to open up BEHIND the active/open browser, specific to firefox?

  • We have a web site with a valid Certificate, however Firefox is the only browser that issues a warning that certificate is invalid.

We have a valid certificate on our web site. However Firefox issues an error that the connection is untrusted. I have verified that the certificate is good using www.digicert.com/help. The other browsers, IE7,8,9, Google Chrome, and Safari have no issue with the site. Any input would be appreciated.

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

  • Firefox is the only browser that need more than 700 ms accesstime, when others need only 10! Why is that???

I have tested Google Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Firefox is using between 500-1100 ms accesstime, using Bredbandskollen.se, while the other two only uses around 10 ms!

First of all, thank you for your response.
Below you can find the answers to your questions:
    1) YES, I am using version 4, build 0024.00. Forgot to mention that I use Windows 7 64-bit and Firefox 11 (I don't use Chrome or IE)
    2) I cannot confirm that, because the problem doesn't appear every time. For example, today EVERYTHING works OK! I haven't change anything or done something different, but since I boot my T410s, every site log in with ONLY one swipe (today even Yahoo for the first time). As I said, SOMETIMES PWM asks for one swipe, other for 2 and rarely for 3 swipes. But I think that when the problem appears, PWM need more than one fingerprint swipe every time I go to the website.
    3) The setting for "before logging me into a Web site or application..." is "Every time". As I said, I need this setting to be "Every time", as my notebook sometimes is being used by other persons.
It is really a stange problem and when it appears it is very annoying. Have you any other ideas about what it's going on?

  • Safari the ONLY browser that works

Since upgrading to Leopard, I have been unable to use ANY other internet browser but Safari. Normally this wouldn't bother me since I prefer Safari, but there are some websites out there that don't play nicely with Safari and so other browsers are necessary. Each time I open Firefox/Netscape/Internet Explorer/Opera, I get this message:
"The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again."
I continue to get this message until I force quit the application.
I've searched the the Apple discussions and the Firefox discussions countless times. I've emptied out any and all information from Firefox from my library. I've repaired my disk permissions more times than I can count. I JUST reinstalled Leopard. I performed updates beforehand. Shut down my computer for about 7 hours. Reinstalled. Performed more updates. Restarted. Installed Firefox. And I got the same message.
Is there really no solution or did Leopard some how screw my computer beyond repair?
    Dani

+I have no idea why, but there is no version of Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator that will run under Leopard, so there's no way you could have possibly replicated this problem in these applications on that machine.+
Sure there are! If you can find a copy of Internet Explorer 5.2, it'll run using Rosetta. There's even a pretty new version of Navigator out for the Mac that's a Universal Binary, although it's the end of the line. I have both running right now, just to be sure and to avoid putting my foot in my mouth.
Danielle, from what I remember that error is more of system message rather than an error from within the browser itself. Here are a couple of questions to get started:
Does the error show upon opening the browser(s), or when you try to navigate to a page? Is the problem with one specific website (Unlikely, I know, but you mention that "some websites don't play nicely" with Safari, which could lead someone to believe this is the case.) What kind of content are you trying to access? Your everyday run of the mill HTML page, or an FTP or directory, or...? Are you using a router? If so, what kind?
I know, lotsa questions and little help. The more info you can provide means a better chance for an answer.

  • Is Safari the only Browser that works in osx

I have tried several other browsers for work realted stuff, and none of these browsers function properly, I wonder if the fix is in?

It might be easier to help you if you are more specific and detailed. What problems are you having with which browser(s)? Are particular sites involved, particular actions? Are particular needs not met? The more detail you can give the better response we can give.
To answer the question in your topic title, yes, there are 8 or 9 very good or excellent browsers for OS X. These include:
    Camino
    Firefox
    iCab
<a href="http://www.focusvision.com/prod_need.html</a> Abandoned by Microsoft and outdated, but some people still like it
<a href="http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/">Mozilla Suite of Internet tools
Netscape Basically a branded Mozilla suite of Internet tools
    OmniWeb
    Opera
SeaMonkey A continuation of the Mozilla suite

On some sites we get sec_error_unknown_issuer SSL error due to missing root certificate TC TrustCenter Class 2 L1 CA XI. Firefox is the only browser having this issue. Why is that certificate not preinstalled and shipped with Firefox?
Check sales.sauer-danfoss.com for details with Firefox 7.
    Thanks
    Stefan

You are not sending the TC TrustCenter Class 2 L1 CA XI intermediate certificate
    *http://sales.sauer-danfoss.com/
Web servers need to send all required intermediate certificates to build the chain to build-in root certificates.
You need to install that intermediate certificate on your server.
You can test the certificate chain via a site like this:

  • Firefox is it the only browser that you need to have your task manager open with in order to surf?

Firefox is it the only browser that you need to have your task manager open with in order to surf?

Nothing much to see on that site, but I don't have a problem opening the page. See screenshot.
Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

  • Firefox frequently freezes. I can't click on anything (tabs, menu buttons, bookmarks, etc.) The only button that works is the upper right close button which when clicked will ask me if I want to "save & quit." Then I have to restart. Help fixing this?

Frequently when I use Firefox it will all of a sudden freeze. It no longer will accept any user input from the keyboard or mouse. I cannot click on any of the open tabbed pages I have or on my bookmarks or any of the menu buttons. Nothing works. When it happens if it is loading a page it will just freeze in the middle of loading it. I've tried to see if the freezes are caused when it loads certain types of content (java, flash, etc...) but there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it happens or with what types of pages. I cannot find a pattern. The ONLY button that works is the close button in the upper right hand corner (X). I can click on that and then Firefox will prompt me with it's regular message asking me if I want to save and quit, quit, or cancel. I'll hit save and quit and then reopen Firefox. It opens my tabs and if I was in the middle of a post it generally will still remember the text I've typed (except Facebook!).
It's beginning to drive me nuts and I'm really hoping to find a fix to this.

You will also notice that your shift key will be emulated. Meaning that keys you will try to press will press but they will act like you are pressing the shift key when you are doing them.
Try this, minimize the firefox window by pressing the tab on your taskbar. After doing that maximize it again. You will magically be able to click any link on your page. When you navigate to a new page however, the entire situation will start all over. My only remedy is rebooting and hoping it doesn't happen again soon.

  • Mid 2011 Macbook Air - Yosemite keyboard and trackpad stopped working, the only button that worked was the power button, only one USB port works.

    I have a Mid 2011 Macbook Air.
    Upgraded to Yosemite last week.
Three days ago I was using my Macbook Air for the first time since upgrading to Yosemite. I had been using my Macbook Air for approximately 30 minutes, I was using safari and the keyboard and trackpad stopped working (would not respond). The only button that worked was the power button.
I rebooted and they were still not working. I plugged in a USB mouse and external USB keyboard, only one USB port would work (the Left USB port if looking at the screen) so I had to swap between keyboard and mouse.
After logging in there is a bluetooth icon at the top of the screen with a sawtooth line through it. Bluetooth is unavailable and the bluetooth icon is missing from the system preferences menu.
If I run a hardware test by holding D (on USB keyboard) at startup it says that no problems are found and at the conclusion of the test the keyboard and trackpad start working again. When I log on the bluetooth is working again.
I shut down the Macbook Air and when I started it again the keyboard and trackpad and right side USB ports were all not working again. I logged in using the USB keyboard and mouse and the bluetooth not available sawtooth icon had returned.
I ran the hardware test again and at the conclusion of the test the trackpad and keyboard started working again.
I have tried deleting com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile from /Library/Preferences/ and tried resetting SMC and Power Functions but this did not fix the issue. The only thing that seems to work is running a hardware test - obviously I don't want to do this every time I use the computer.
I do not believe any hardware is faulty/damaged - I think it has something to do with bluetooth/Yosemite.
I do not have the Macbook with me at the moment, if you have suggestions that I can try or additional checks/info you require please let me know and I can get back to you.
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi!
I have exactly the same problem, and I can't find any solution.
I can't even track down the root of the problem: the Bluetooth/Wifi module? The trackpad? The keyboard/top case? The logicboard?
I've tried all the usual: SMC/PRAM reset, clean install, kext cache clearing.
    Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!

This article contains the only thing that worked for me.  I also had to sign out of iCloud and uninstall it.  Then I had to delete all files and folders from all of those applications that were under Program Files, Program Files x86, Program Data and Users.  My iPhone 4 will now sync with iTunes both in its USB-connected  mini dock and over Wi-Fi.  It's unfortunate (negligent programming on the part of Apple?) that the upgrade to iTunes 11 did not remove all of those files as part of the upgrade process.

I am having the same issue....Same address for years - same as USPS - I tried 5 times (3 macs and 2 iPhones) and now i have 5 CHARGES for 1.00 each on my credit card. I took the credit card info off so they don't charge me anymore. How can they charge me yet still not allow me to download free updates and say I have an invalid address? I'm sure I will spend weeks or months trying to get a credit out of these incompetent idiots.

  • Since upgrading to OSx 10.9, I cannot place my music for iPhoto slideshows.  The only music that works is the Sample and Theme music that comes with iPhoto.  Any idea of what to do about this problem?

In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
    Then quit and restart iPhoto.
Credit to user keysandfood who figured that one out.

  • My iphone 5 screen went black and the only thing that works is siri!

I was in the middle of opening up pintrest when my phone screen went black and won't turn back on. The only thing that works is siri... My lock button also doesn't work so I can't manually restart my phone. When I try to restore my phone i have to turn off find my phone but i cant because the screen is black.. Please please please help! I'm a poor college student who cannot afford a new phone

Well, you can't perform a reset then. What happens when you plug the phone into a power source? If nothing, then you'll have to make an appointment at any Apple store. The genius bar will offer you an out of warranty replacement. Cost is US $269.
