Internet keeps shutting down randomly

Just got my Mac Mini and love it so far, but my internet keeps shutting down randomly and restarting itself. Is there a lack of memory being used for it and is there a way to change it? If so, how much should I allow it to use?

I'm on a LAN line, no router, the School is the ISP... Haven't had this problem on my PC. I did it about 2 times in a row, but hasn't done it since.

My iphone keeps shutting down randomly. 3-7 times a day. Ever since I installed IO7. How do I fix or reinstall IO6?

    Hey Kaylyn07,
Thanks for the question. The following article may help in troubleshooting Kernal Panic’s for OS X:
OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4636
In most cases, kernel panics are not caused by an issue with the Mac itself. They are usually caused by software that was installed, or a problem with connected hardware.
To help avoid kernel panics, install all available software updates until Software Update reports, "Your software is up to date." OS X updates help your Mac handle the kinds of issues that can cause kernel panics, such as malformed network packets, or third party software issues. For most kernel panics, updating your software is all you have to do.
Diagnosing a recurring kernel panic can be difficult. If you need help with this process, consider bringing your Mac to a Genius at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.  If you plan to visit an Apple Retail store, you can make a reservation (available in some countries only).
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

    HAMitch,
your EtreCheck report will not reveal why your MacBook Pro shuts down randomly. What this report does reveal is that you have out-of-date versions of Java and Silverlight installed. The latest version of Java (7, Update 55) can be downloaded from here, and the latest version of Silverlight (5.1.30317.0) can be downloaded from here.
Without knowing some example situations in which your MacBook Pro randomly shuts down, it will be difficult to diagnose the problem. Would you provide some examples during which it has shut down? That is, which programs are running when it happens? How long has it been booted up when it happens? &c.
In the interim, after updating Java and Silverlight, you can try running your MacBook Pro’s Apple Hardware Test, to see if it can detect any hardware problems.

  • Macbook keeps shutting down randomly

I've had my Macbook for about 9 months with no problems but it has suddenly started to shut down randomly. I have looked at lots of support advice on this site but nothing has worked. I have the latest firmware and battery update patches. Following advice on this forum, I thought it was down to recently installed widgets that might me using too much CPU so I binned them to no avail. It also isn't the temperature, when it last died that was at 49c, so well below danger level! From what I can ascertain, it isn't kernal panic either, and no panic logs have been stored. I haven't had any error messages. I have looked at the console and system logs, but they don't mean much to me.
    Here's what happens:
Completely randomly, regardless of what applications I have open or with no external decives attached, my mac switches off, or almost. The start up "ching" sounds, then the screen flickers on and off while the light at the front does the same, it also makes the start-up sound a few times as if it's trying to restart. It doesn't close down completely but won't come back up again. When it first started doing this, I could force it to shut down then reboot it, but just now the only way I could get it to do this was to remove all power: take out the battery and remove the power-in cable then replace the cable and reboot. It still does this with the battery removed completely, so it's not the battery causing this. I've also tried holding down the on/off button until it makes that long tone sound just to see if it would start up before removing all power, but it didn't!
Help! I've tried everything I can think of and the apple store is closed in the UK!

Ummm, nope. All due respects, this problem cropped up suddenly, at about the same time, for multiple users, on different laptop types. Probability of all this happening at once due to simultaneous hardware failures is much lower than if it was caused by say a software update not playing well with something (a piece of 3rd party software, etc). I'm having the same exact problem, I have put a new battery in, same thing happens.
This is similar to 3 or so years ago when widgets were first introduced, laptop battey lifes dropped to about 1/3 and the machines heated up. General consensus was it must be hardware, well no it was software, and a software fix took care of it. I'm hoping someone figures this out soon...
    Thanks

  • Macbook Pro keeps shutting down randomly

    Hello-
My 15" Macbook Pro (Late 2011) has started unexpectedly and randomly shutting down. I recently installed Mountain Lion and it started after that, and only seems to happen when running on battery power. I've tried an SMC reset multiple times and that doesn't seem to help. I'm running a 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB of RAM, updated to 10.8.2.
Based on my battery report, I don't think that's the issue:
      Model Information:

      PCB Lot Code:          0

      Hardware Revision:          2
      Cell Revision:          157
      Charge Information:

      Battery Installed:          Yes
      Amperage (mA):          1316

Anyone have any suggestions other than an SMC reset?

Yes and do not be dissappointed if AHT http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509 shows no errors- incomplete test at best.
report back with any errors here.

  • Imac keeps shutting down randomly then it restarts.

    I have cleaned the vents
I have unplugged for 15 seconds, then rebooted after 5 seconds.
I have run the extended test for the programmes, all ok.
I have used a different power source.
Can someone help me out as it is becoming very annoying.
    Imac is 18 months old.
    Thanks

I think that applecare has fixed this problem. They told me it was a software problem and got me to re install the disk I got with my Mac.So far so good 5 days on.

Can someone tell me what's going on?

    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • My iMac OSX keep shutting down

My iMac OSX keep shutting down randomly. It goes to a black screen to a blue screen and then shuts off. I have to unplug and replug it in to get it going again. It's happening everyday... has anyone had this problem and if so what did you do to fix it?

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, set the format type to Mac
OS Extended (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Partition button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Iphone 5 keeps shutting down

My iphone 5 keeps shutting down randomly without warning. This happens during the day or even over night when it's plugged in. Any ideas what's causing this?

If you're restoring from a backup, try restoring as a new device in order to test it. If it stops doing it, that means there is something in your backup file that's corrupted, or maybe one of your apps is causing the problem. If it still does it, it's probably a hardware problem, and you should make an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar to have it evaluated.

  • Iphone 4 shuts down randomly

My iPhone 4 keeps shutting down randomly at 32% or 49% or 80% battery life. I did a hard reset, restored to factory settings and also I changed a new battery which I DIY. However, I am still having the same issues. I am using iOS 7.1.2. Please help me out, it is really frustrating to have the same problem after changing the battery.

Thank you for letting me know. I have this issue with the original battery so I thought because I had this phone for the past 4 years the battery may not be good. So I decided to change it myself since I no longer have warranty. Do you have any solutions? Or I have to buy a new phone which I am reluctant to do so as my iPhone 4 is still in good condition.

  • IPod 4G keeps crashing, freezing and shutting down randomly

I think since the IOS7 update, my Ipod keeps on skipping songs, freezing on apps, crashing on apps and sometimes
shutting down randomly. I have tried deleting from multitask, and shutting down (which only works for like 10 mins).
How can I fix this? And repair is too expensive.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Internet Explorer keeps shutting down

    Hey
Im having a problem with Internet explorer at the moment. It keeps shutting down with the error message "Internet Explorer has stopped unexpectedly, window is searching for a solution"
This is happening at very frequently and im not even getting 2 mins of internet usage before it shuts down.
Im not very techy so any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

    Hi,
If you are working in older versions of Internet Explorer you are missing out on these new features and functions. If you don't spend too much time on the computer then you might not have to worry. But if the Internet is an important part of your everyday life, you will want to update your version of Internet Explorer.
To update Internet Explorer, follow these directions:
    - Open up an IE browser.
    - Select "Tools" and then open "Windows Update."
    - Select "Custom."
    - Make sure there is a check mark beside "Internet Explorer."
    - Next, select "Review" and "Install Updates."
    - Now you can close the browser.

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?

  • Help I have a power mac8.1 and it keeps shutting down at random times with no warning any ideas what to do to solving it?

Help please I have a power mac 8.0 mac osx 10.3.4. The problem is that it keeps shutting down on its own with no warning. this is totaly random with regards to the length of time. all I do know is the bottom right area of the mac feels warmer than the rest of it. does any one have a idea how to solve this.

    Hello,
Have you blown the dust out lately?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
