My internet works fine but since returning from a couple of weeks away, I have noticed that the 'Internet' light on my Gateway Max is red.1) What does this mean?2) Do I need to do anything?3) What should I do? Thanks

Can you elaborate? I am having no problems accessing any sites.

  • How to change default internet access password in Gateway Max (for cable)

Hi All, My home boardband (home bundle with cable) connection has just been installed. I am trying to change the default internet access password. But I can not find out where to set the new password in my Gateway Max configuration page (192.168.0.1).Is there anyone having idea about that please? RegardsCheng

Hi Yeldarb, Maybe I do not describe the issue clearly. The "admin/password" is used for accessing gateway modem configuration page. But it is not what I want now. I am wondering the method for changing the default password which modem use to connect the telstra server. I think every telstra boardband client would have one username/password pair for access internet, right?

  • Internet light is red

When I connect my Linksys WRT54G router to the modem the Internet light turns red and goes on and of periodically but I can still get on the internet.

  • Red Internet Light on Technicolour TG587n v3

Hi, our Technicolour TG587n v3 modem's internet light has gone red and we are unable to connect to the internet with it thanks.

Hello,I do not have the same modem in front of me, so you may get a specific suggestion from another of the team.In the meanwhile, you should do some basic fault finding. Firstly, re-boot your modem with about 3 minutes switched off.Is you home phone working?    Is it crackly in the background? You may have to ring technical support on 133 933 and they will usually have you do an isolation test to determine if the problem is because of an issues within your premises. Here is a link to do the Telstra Isolation Test:https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/General-Internet-KB/How-to-perform-an-Isolation-Test/ta-p/55014 Also check that if there is an outage in your area   http://servicestatus.telstra.com/Hope that helps.

  • Internet Port red light

Firstly I'm new to BT having migrated from aol. I recently had a line issue and have since had my line reset (this morning) however my internet port red light is on. I would like to resolve this without having to restart my router. My router is a Netgear dgn2200, any advice will be appreciated. Is it something to do with pppoe.
    Solved!

ADSL uses PPPoA. (Point To Point Protocol Over ATM)
If you use a different router with ADSL, then you need to make sure that the authentication is set to PPPoA.
You can use a user name of [email protected] and a password of bt

  • Internet light not lit, tech support not helping, PPP Down?

Hey guys, I have a problem. I just ordered Verizon's HSI and yesterday was my service ready date. I receieved  a call saying that my service was ready, except it's not working at all.
I spent a majority of yesterday evening on the phone with tech support, which seemed like they were clueless and not helping. here's my problem.
I have a Westell 7500 modem/router. The DSL light is a solid green, however the Internet light is out. It's not red or green, just unlit. I logged into the router settings and i see this big warning: Gateway is not ready for internet connection. Well, that's no good. It also says DSL Connected, but PPP down.
I went into the connections of the router settings and I changed the login information to my verizon account information, but that didn't seem to do anything. It still says the PPP status is down.
No matter what I do, I am not connected to the internet it seems. I talked to a represenative on the phone and he said that the problem is on Verizon's end, but he seemed kind of confused so I don't know if he really knows what he was talking about.
I'm not really a happy camper with the service so far, so I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here. God forbid I switch to Comcast and their lousy bandwidth cap, but if this isn't resolved soon I may have to resort to that.
Or if there is a tier 3 DSL support number with professionals, i would LOVE to have that.

Thanks for the replies. I have spoken with tech support but I really don't think they know what to do. Each time they just tell me to "go to the router setting and click connect. Oh it's not working? Well... I'll call back tomorrow. It will work tomorrow"
They're supposed to call me back "within 24-48 hours" with good news that my internet will suddenly be working. I'm not going to hold my breath. I'll update with any news as I'm sure i'm not the only one going through this.

  • Lost Connectivity (No Internet Light)

Just set up the "Up to 1M Dry Loop Annual Plan" and am leasing the Westell 6100 Gateway. My service was activated three days ago. Everything was fine for about 48 hours -- the primary computer (involved in setup) and three other laptops (via a wireless connection) all suffered no connectivity or speed issues.
Then, last night, I notice the "Internet" light is no longer lit. It is neither green nor red. Just unlit. All other requisite lights (DSL, Power, Ethernet) are green. However, I receive errors on the browser pages I attempt to open, suggesting that the “page cannot be found.”  All other laptops recognize my wireless network and claim to have excellent connections, respectively, but none can connect to the Internet.
Any advice? I’m restarted the modem and the computers several times with no luck.

UPDATE: Ran through diagnostics and troubleshooting with Veirzon phone support. Technician will be out to the apartment tomorrow. I will let you guys know how it turns out.

  • WRT1900ac internet connectivity problem, internet light blinking white!!!!?

So my wrt1900ac has been blinking white starting tonight. I logged into the router and did a router reboot. That didnt work, then I rebooted my modem still didnt work.
After all that I did a factory reset to my wrt1900ac which was a big mistake cause now my wrt1900ac WILL NOT set back up. It keeps getting stuck on detecting internet.
So I did a factory reset on my modem which is c1000a, and after the factory reset my modem works fine connects to wifi no problem what so ever. I put my modem back into transparent bridge mode, and tried to re-setup my router. Once again the wrt1900ac internet light just blinks white and will not connect even though my modem works perfectly fine can someone help me out please??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Disconnect the router from the modem and login via IP Address 192.168.1.1. If you can't check the gateway address of the IP address your router gives your device. The default gateway is the router ip address. It can change if the router detects an IP address conflict.

  • Set up Telstra ADSL T-Gateway or Telstra Gateway Max modem

When you received your Telstra T-Gateway or Telstra Gateway Max, you should have also received a power supply and an ADSL filter.
    Step 1
Unplug your phone from the wall socket.
    Step 2
Connect the filter to the wall socket.
    Step 3
Connect your telephone to the socket labelled 'LOCAL PHONE' on the ADSL filter.
    Step 4
Connect the end of the ADSL modem cable to the grey DSL socket on the back of the Telstra T-Gateway or Telstra Gateway Max.
Once you have completed Steps 1 - 4, this is what your set up will look like.
    Step 5
Connect one end of the power cable to the gateway and the other end to a power outlet.

  • Cable gateway max C6300 firmware update in bridge mode

Hi, does anyone know if the gateway max cable modem (netgear C6300) will still get the OTA firmware update if it's in bridge mode?  I've given up waiting for fixes and am going to put my own router and access point in. Thanks

As long as it has a connection to the internet, I am pretty sure it will get an update.
You could try live chat maybe they have a better answer

Since it's a staggered release some modems won't get updated till July

  • GATEWAY MAX ACTIVATE ISSUE

Hi all, I receive a Telstra Gateway Max yesterday to replace my old cable modem. However, I am stuck in the device register page. The erro code is CCP0024. Anyone can help me for this issue? I talked to different Teltra staffs through hotline, some of them were lying to me said the network is down. However I can use my old modem to access the internet. I hate these kind of lying activities.  Cheers,

    Hi jobbyjobson,
We’re undertaking a system upgrade this weekend to help us deliver a better, faster service. Right now there are some requests we can’t action immediately such as activating some new devices/services which is what is causing the issues of the OP.
You can still access online services via Telstra.com/upgrade  and our 24x7 App and we can still assist you during this period through our stores and contact centres as well.
Unfortunately, you can’t view your call and data usage online right now – we apologise for this inconvenience. You can still use Telstra services, for example to make and receive calls and texts, and browse the internet as normal. We have extra staff working right now to get services up and running again as soon as we can.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

  • Telstra Gateway Max aka Technicolor TG799vac lacks basic Quality of Service

Hi, I have recently moved to a plan that included the Telstra Gateway Max for free, and have also recently opted-in to Telstra Air which I think is wonderful. Problem. These Technicolor TG799vac modem/routers which Telstra is providing (are actually a very high quality, highly finished product), are missing 1 key feature. My plan also came with a free T-Box which I can watch Foxtel on T-Box, Presto, Bigpond TV, Bigpond Movies, and other great content. Except the Gateway Max does not have even basic "QoS" features. QoS is an acronym for Quality of Service. It provides that certain traffic on your local network can be marked as a higher priority than other less important content. For instance. VoIP (Voice over IP) usually has #1 priority, usually followed by video, and then other content like HTTP (normal downloads) and Bit Torrent etc are all just normal quality. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_Multimedia_Extensions "Wireless Multimedia Extensions (WME), also known as Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM), is a Wi-Fi Alliance interoperability certification, based on the IEEE 802.11e standard." "It provides basic Quality of service (QoS) features to IEEE 802.11 networks." "WMM prioritizes traffic according to four Access Categories (AC) - voice, video, best effort, and background. However, it does not provide guaranteed throughput. It is suitable for well defined applications that require QoS, such as Voice over IP (VoIP) on Wi-Fi phones (VoWLAN)." This WMM standard is a highly important standard for modem routers because if I'm downloading some random large file on one computer which consumes all available bandwidth (speed), my T-Box instantly degrades and becomes unwatchable. My plan comes with unlimited calls anyway plus my mobile comes with unlimited calls on a Telstra competitor so I don't personally have any use for VoIP. My main concern is the lack of Quality of Service for video content. Given we now have Telstra Air I do wonder what happens when a guest user consumes all available bandwidth (speed) is that going to affect my T-Box negatively? I understand there is QoS built into Telstra Air such that the guest user cannot hog all your bandwidth (preference is given to the host customer over the guest customer) however that's as far as QoS goes with Telstra. I would urge Telstra to pass this post to their development team for consideration, because as it stands the only way for people to get QoS is to buy other non-Telstra modem routers. I can still probably plug Telstras Gateway Max into another modem router that does support QoS which is what I intend to do to solve the problem, but if they could look at addressing this issue the Gateway Max would be a very ideal, very professional modem router that I could recommend to everybody and not bother with the hassle of buying other non-Telstra modem routers.

Telstra Air has built in QoS, there is a specific speed threshold that they can't pass. If your internet speed is too low it won't allow allow fast access to clients.
The real truth is all those features are available on your modem but have been disabled by Telstra's firmware, Telstra wants to manage all of these areas so sadly there is nothing we can do

  • Telstra Gateway Max - Static IP issue

Hi, I just got my new Gateway max modem, I created a static IP for my printer e.g. 10.0.0.50, as soon as I did this I was not able to access the internet, I investigated and relalised that i.e. DNS stopped working. I tried power cycling the modem twice with no success. I decided to remove the static IP and everything worked again. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to fix this ThanksAndrew

    Hi Brodie,
Here are the details of my modem:
    Hardware Version: C6300BD-202
    Software Version: 5510_V10106
    Software Version(Linux): 2.6.30.V1.01.06
Are these the details that you asked for?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Jozef,
I was setting up the Static IP or DHCP Reservation Lease info on my gateway just then.
Just to check you are also doing the same:
    1. you specify the MAC address of the device you want to have a Static IP assigned
    2. assign a nominated IP address
    3. hit the "add" button
    4. hit the 'clear dhcp leases' button
    5. disconnect your device from the network
    6. reconnect the device to your network
NOTE: step 4, is only done to clear the entry against the same MAC address that received a dynamic IP assignment from the table.
Using the above, my macbook pro IP address changed from the dynamic IP to the Static IP i assigned. (see image)

  • Does the latest Gateway Max adsl router support the 4g mobile dongle?

our landline is being delayed by cabling shortfalls to our property and the Telstra "Move Team" suggested we buy a 4g dongle to share, my 3 year old router only supports G3 dongles and doesn't load the G4 version so I'm wondering if we were to get the latest Gateway Max whether that would. At least our mobile devices like iPads etc would function over wifi.
I found a little info on the gateway max 799 and it just says G3 but would like to know if the G4 dongle will just step down in this router?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I also have the Telstra Gateway Max and I want to install the 4G USB dongle to provide internet fallback for when the landline fails (which appears to be happening a lot more often over the last two months - up to 21 days in total so far). I went to the Telstra shop today and bought the Telstra 4G USB+WiFi Plus dongle which I am told should work with the Gateway Max. However, nobody there could tell me what to do to get it working. They said simply plug it in and it should work. I did this and of course it did not!! Does anyone know how to configure the Gateway Max to see and use the dongle when the ADSL/Landline service fails next time? I will be able to test if it is working by unplugging the ADSL service from the DSL port on the Gateway Max - that part is the easy bit. If there is a guide somewhere on Telstra's site on how to do the configuration work that would be great. Otherwise any help would be just as great I'm sure!! CheersCraig
