Internet light turns briefly yellow on Airport Utility

My configuration - Draytek Vigor 120 connected to my ADSL line, connected to Airport Extreme 802.11n.
On Airport Utility both lights - Internet and Airport Extreme green.
The Internet light frequently turns yellow - for 10-30 seconds and than green again all the time. The Airport light stays all the time green.
When yellow and shortly afterwards - no internet connection.
Is the Draytek modem failing? Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Tonden

Either the connection is being lost between your Internet connection and the Draytek Vigor 120......or......the connection is being lost between the Draytek Vigor 120 and the AirPort Extreme.
One way that you can find out as a test.....if you can set up a PPPoE connection on your computer and then connect the computer directly to the Draytek Vigor 120 and let things run for a few days......the connection will either remain stable (so you know the Draytek Vigor 120 is working correctly).....or....the connection difficulties will continue (so you know that you likely have a defective Draytek Vigor modem).

  • Solid Green light at start up. Airport utility can't find base station.

    Help!
I've got a problem with my Airport Extreme base station. It's not so extreme. When I hook it up, I get a solid green light and it can not be found by the airport utility in order to set up. I've tried resetting it, power on and off. Nothing. Any suggestions on how to start over or get this thing working?
    Thanks,

David_957, Welcome to the discussion area!
Try temporarily connecting your Mac to the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) via Ethernet. After you get it configured you can disconnect the Mac's Ethernet connection to the AEBS.

  • AEBSn not found in airport utility, light flashing amber

The title pretty much sums it up. I can go directly from my DSL modem to my G5 ethernet port and my internet works. But going through the AEBSn does not. The light just flashes amber and airport utility can't find it.
It did go green when I first started using it but after it did the 5.2.1 software update, the base station seems messed up. Resetting using the pin hole in the back didn't work.
    Any suggestions? thanks!

I plugged the modem ethernet into the LAN outlet in the back of the TC
I'm not sure what you mean by that. First, the Ethernet cable from your broadband modem should be connected to the WAN port on the TC. Second, there are three LAN outlets on the back of a TC, so I'm not sure what you mean by "the LAN outlet".
The Network can now connect to the Airport with a full 4 bar fan in the icon - so far so good. In Airport Utility the Time Capsule now shows up in the sidebar - another promising sign. Then I click on it and hit Manual Setup and I get the message "Airport Utility cannot find airport device". When I close that window the AU goes into a never-ending "Reading the Time Capsule configuration" message loop and never opens the Time Capsule's settings.
Sorry. I've seen people complain of such things, but I haven't seen anyone suggest a good way to fix it.
I'd first straighten out any problems with your Ethernet cable wiring.

    Airport Utility can't see Extreme
I have reset the extreme, reboot the iMac, and while I have an internet connection, the AirPort Utility can the the extreme.

Connect Mac to Ethernet LAN port on the AEBS. Make sure your Mac has IPv6 turned on (under System Preferences|Network|Advanced|TCPIP|Configure IPv6=Automatically). Open the Airport Utility.
If you still don't see the Airport, open a terminal windows and type:
    mdns -B airport.tcp
If you get a response, look for something under the "instance name" column. Take that name and type (replacing the name you got above with 'thatname' below):
    mdns -L thatname airport.tcp local.
and copy the result and post it here.
If you don't get a response from the first command, enter:
    ifconfig
and copy the result and post it here.

  • Airport utility cant find airport extreme 802.11

Bought a 802.11 today.  Didnt come with a CD and so downloaded Aiport Utility 5.4.1 for windows.  I am using the dang router right now since I am on the internet.  Its amber light is flashing.  The Airport Utility cant find any Apple wireless devices.  Hmm.  Help.  Do I need to download something other than 5.4.1?  When I put in 802.11 utility all I get back is a bunch of patches...Help.

Thanks Hackintosh.  I got it going.  It would be enormously helpful if Apple would list the most current software necessary for the Airport Extreme FIRST when you search for downloads.  But that would be too easy.
    Thanks,

If you can connect temporarily to your Time Capsule with an Ethernet cable, AirPort Utility can probably see it and explain the problem.

  • Wrt54gs all seems good cept internet light will not light or flash and no connection

Got a WRT54GS router. # months old. I have it hooked up to comcast. This evening . I found no net when I turned on pc. I have comcast phone and net service. So My modem also handles phone calls aswell.  On my cable modem there is a link light with is normaly flashing. When I got home my link light was dark. None of my pcs or consoles could get on the internet. I found all the lights on my router on cept the internet light. I called comcast and they verified it was my routeri I hooked this pc strait to modem and all worked fine. This is how im posting now. Ive tried newest firmware and multiple manual resets on router. I get everything but the internet light.<Internet light does not come at all.> Ilso get no net when hooked to router. If I use modem alone all is fine.
    Im hooking up an
    XBOX360
    PS3
    PC
    Wirelessly WII
    Wirelessly PSP
    Wirelessly Laptop.
My Router is WRT54 GS with latest firmware just installed. Please help me if you can All my lights come on as normal cept the internet light. And my cable modem dosent get a link from the router at all. If I hook pc direct to modem again all is ok. Its not my provider.
    Thank you.

Since the "internet" light is not coming on , i'd say that it may be a problem with the "cable" you are using between the modem and the router....if the cable is good....try this....take one CAT5 cable and plug one end into the one of the LAN ports and the other end into the internet port of the router.....check if the internet light turns on...in case it does , try connecting a "hub" between the modem and the router..... let me know what happens

  • Time Capsule flashes amber (slow) and not being picked up by Airport Utility; cannot set up Time Capsule

Airport Time Capsule purchased in Canada, trying to set up in home in Mexico.  Connected to isp via ethernet cable, tried resets and power off/on on both TC and isp modem.  TC flashes amber (slow), and is not picked up by Airport Utility on Macbook or iPad.  Do I have a faulty TC that has to be returned?  Wireless signal from provider is strong and reliable for last 5 yrs.  Please help

Got it figured :-)  Unable to pick up TC via Airport Utility on MacBook Pro or iPad. Used iPad via Settings-WiFi to pick up TC and enter edit functions. Once WAN deselected, Bridge selected, DHCP selected got the steady green light on the TC.  Airport utility now picks up the TC no problem on both iPad and Macbook.  System now fully operational.

  • Airport Utility cannot find all 802.11n gigabit sase stations

    hello everyone,
airport utility (5.2.1, "Airport-Dienstprogramm" in german does not seem to find all my base stations (6 stations alltogether, IPs assigned ok via DHCP, pingable, usable, green light, no errors, manageable by Airport Utility via manual IP entry) in the list to the left of the main screen. Mostly they are not shown at all, sometimes (or after I manually managed one) they are in the list until Airport Utility is restarted.
SNMP is on, I tried a new cummunity string but reverted back to "public" just to make sure.
Is there a way to manually fill the list and then "save" that list somehow so that I can do a quick check on the status?
    Thanks in advance,
    best regards,
    Christian.

Are you using the latest version (5.5.2) of the AirPort Utility to access the new 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)? Your tagline has it that you are running OS X 10.4.6. You would need at least 10.5.7 to run the utility. I assume that you are running the latest utility on another device ... correct?
When having difficulties accessing the AirPort thru the AirPort Utility, try the following, in order checking accessibility with the utility after each step:
o Check the local connection. If you are trying to access the AirPort wirelessly, make sure that you are connected to its wireless network before running the AirPort Utility to administer it. If you are still unable to access it with the utility, temporarily connect your computer directly using an Ethernet cable to one of the base station's LAN ports.
o Power cycle the base station. Remove the power adapter's plug from the power outlet, and then, wait 15 seconds before plugging it back in.
o Perform a "factory default" reset on the base station.

How do I clean up my new FIOS connection? I just cahnged ISP Fios and they reqquired a router of thier own in front of my AirPort Extreme. Since then I have blinking yellow light on the AirPort and AirPort utility keeps promting for an edit. Suggests canging from NAT to "Bridge mode". Obviuosly U have some internet or this post would not go anywhere, my knowledge base is not enought to feel comfortable with changing the settings. Correctly editing can be tricky, so how do I make necessary changes?

How do I clean up my new FIOS connection?
The FIOS router needs to be in Bridge Mode to prevent the Double NAT error from occurring when two routers are both fighting with each other for control of the network.
Unfortunately, the likely problem from the FIOS side is that FIOS support will either tell you that their router cannot be configured to operate in Bridge Mode, or if it can, they will not tell you how to do it.
But, it could not hurt to check with FIOS to see if anything might have changed recently in this regard, so your first call would be to FIOS support.
If you cannot change the FIOS router to Bridge Mode, the alternate plan would be to change the AirPort Extreme to Bridge Mode. If you are using the Guest Network feature on the AirPort Extreme at this time, that feature will not work correctly when the AirPort is set up in Bridge Mode.

    Yes, that is correct.
Did you have the instructions that came with your Airport Extreme?  Are you sure you have it setup properly?  Here is the setup guide:

  • If I have my iMac internet sharing turned on, the Airport Utility won't recognize the Airport Express I want to use to stream iTunes to my stereo.  When I turn the iMac internet sharing off, the Airport Express appears but calls itself a base station.

If I have my iMac internet sharing turned on, the Airport Utility won't recognize the Airport Express I want to use to stream iTunes to my stereo.  When I turn the iMac internet sharing off, the Airport Express appears but calls itself a base station.  I just bought the Airport Express and it's not clear how I should set up my System Preferences for Sharing.  Thx

Yes. Unfortunately the stereo is too far from the wired ethernet connection   My iMac is connected to the internet using an ethernet cable from the DSL modem (plugged into the wall, not wireless).  The Airport Express is plugged into an outlet 25' away from the iMac and connected to my speakers.  I've turned on the iMac Airport wireless Internet Sharing, hoping to stream iTunes to the Express connected to the stereo.  The iMac Airport picks up several neighborhood networks so I know it's working (and I connected my iPhone wifi to it just to check as well).
When I use Airport Utility to set up the Express, the only time Utility recognizes the Express is when the iMac Airport is off.  When I turn on the iMac Airport, the Airport Utility immediately loses the Express and asks to rescan.
Maybe that explains my problem better.
