Internet links in AppleWorks

A few of the documents I make with AppleWorks, I "print to pdf form" so I can share them easily on the internet. When I make a pdf of and AppleWorks document that has internet links, the internet links don't work in the pdf form. Is there a way I can get them to work?
sb

Because I'm not interested in forking out the $$ for Adobe Acrobat, I thought I do a little tinkering. I came across a little System 9 utility (PrintToPDF) that allowed one to create a pdf of an AppleWorks Document. As part of the PrintToPDF utility there is an application called Link Maker. With these two applications I am able to make linkable pdf documents with AppleWorks.

ftp://ftp.jwwalker.com/PrintToPDF-2.4.4.sit
This is what I did:
1) Created an AppleWorks Document and saved it as an AppleWorks 5 document.
2) Opened the Document in AppleWorks 5 under system 9
3) Start LinkMaker & made links (see the Manual that comes with shareware). place links in my documents
3) I selected PrintToPDF from the chooser
4) Select print.
This is rather a work around, but I can live with it for the price I'd pay for Acrobat.

  • Find/Change for internet links?

Is it possible to do a Find/Change for internet links?
That is, if I have URLs that do not appear in the text of the AppleWorks document, but in the links window, and I want to change all the links beginning with http://us.imdb.com to http://pro.imdb.com
It seems this is not possible through the Find/Change function under the Edit menu, but perhaps I just don't know the right way. Otherwise, the only way to do it would seem to be to change each one individually in the links window with the edit function.

    Hello
Alas, the last formula is the right one.
The URLs are not stored in the body of the document so the Find/Change tool is unable to find them.

ince updating my firefox browser whenever i click on an internet link in an email it does not open on firefox athough my mac switches to the firefox window as i have this set to be my default browser- what should i do?

I have the same problem, and I also wondered if Google toolbar has anything to do with it. There GMAIL was set as the default mail application at first. I have removed that setting, but Firefox 4.0.1 continues to use GMAIL instead of Outlook which is my selection for mailto handling.

  • I just downloaded iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 and now can no longer open internet links that were texted to me.  Anyone else having the same problem?

I just downloaded iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 and now can no longer open internet links that were texted to me.  Anyone else having the same problem or know how to fix this?

The SMS links thing is highly annoying. You don't have to copy/paste however. You should see an icon like this: (>) to the right of the text bubble with the link. Tap on that, the in the screen that opens, tap "Visit".
Alternatively, you can tap twice directly on the link, then hold your finger down after the second tap.
Still unnecessarily difficult, but not as bad as copy/paste.
What I don't get is why can't I find any mention of this change or how to fix it (if even possible) elsewhere online?

  • Touch screen not working with internet link in safari

    Anyone has the same problem?
After 1.1.1 update, my touch screen occassionally fails to respond any tap on internet links in safari. no matter which web site you go to, no link will work on tap.
I tried to clean catch, cookies, etc. The only way to out of it is to reset the phone (both key pressed).
It happens about once or twice a day, not often enough for Apple people to duplicate it, but enough to bother me.

I have had the same exact problem occur 3 or 4 times since the update. I fix it by turning the phone off and on again.

  • Internet links doesn't work anymore within my Outlook

My internet links within my Outlook doesn't work anymore when I click on the link (I got a system problem). Anyone who knows what settings I need to do?
    Thanks

That being the case, I think the default setting must be corrupted.  See here on how to reset: http://www.msoutlook.info/question/706
Or open control panel, go to Default Programs, and then Default settings.  Change the file association for Interner Explorer.  See if that works

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • Make .PDF display in email while preserving its Internet Links

I've created one A4-page mixed media (text and images) .pdf invitation with two embedded URLs – a map reference and email reply (which work fine) – but disappointingly it appears as an attachment when received. Recipients have to launch the file to reveal its content – and find the embedded links. When saved as a .jpg it reveals but the links are lost. How do I deliver it so that it appears visually when recipients open the mail in their Inbox with the Internet links intact?

The solution is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2716529 but as you write, the "fixit" is only for Windows 8.
To apply it on Windows 7, download, unzip, then run the attached registry script.

I'm on my iPad, so I don't know if this is the page with an actual download. I don't see a button, but assume that is because I  am on an iPad. It is in the DL section of Apple downloads.

  • Trojans on Macs via Internet links possible?

    Hi,
Still a bit new to Macs and so far they've been excellent. No crashes. But I'm wondering if it's possible to have installed a trojan (such as spyware or keylogger, etc.) by clicking on an internet link. A poster on a discussion forum where the link was located, said it had a trojan_exploit attached - and I don't know if that poster is a windows user or a mac user..
So, has anyone heard of Intel Macs being infected with malware/spyware like this and thus having their personal info, location, etc. made vulnerable? And if so, how would one find and remove it? I have ClamX but it doesn't scan the entire hard drive at once so it seems kind of difficult to know where to start.
    Thanks.

    Hi, Cowfreek.
AFAIK, the "drive by" type of infection you describe has not been seen for Macs to-date. However, that's not to say people aren't trying to be the first to develop a major Trojan or virus for Mac OS X.
See my "Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware" FAQ for my recommendations as well as a list of some recent Mac OS X security threats that have emerged, including Trojans, rootkits, and spyware. The FAQ also addresses some of the usual arguments against installing an anti-virus solution on a Mac that often arise in discussions of this topic.
While some believe that anti-virus solutions are not required on a Mac, I feel that's ignoring the fact that threats are emerging and that security exposures continue to be found, albeit eventually closed, in Mac OS X, as in any other operating system. Even Apple now recommends that one should "check for viruses."
    Good luck!

  • Internet Links via Gateway using proxy?

Does anyone know how to open the internet links through the Gateway with
    using proxy?
If it is worked, how to include/exclude particular URL/domain/subdomain(s)
in order to use/not use the gateway proxy?
    Thanks....
    Jay

Have a look at the page of the admin console under Gateway Management/Manage Gateway Profile. There are four fields which affect how the gateway uses proxies: DNS Domains and Subdomains, Use Intranet Web Proxy, Use Web Proxy Enabled and Don't Use Web Proxy Enabled.
In DNS Domains and Subdomains, you can list all the intranet domains and subdomains that will be accessed via specific proxies. The syntax for each line is
    domain_name [web_proxy1:port1] | subdomain1 [web_proxy2:port2] ...
On the first line you specify the default domain and subdomain. Any requested URL's that do not include a subdomain and domain are treated by the gateway as belonging to this subdomain and domain for URL rewriting and proxying purposes.
On the last line, you can specify something like '* myproxy:8080', which says that all domains/subdomains other that those listed on lines above will be accessed via the proxy 'myproxy' on port 8080.
(Have a look at chapter 8 of the Administration Guide for examples of these entries.)
If a proxy is indicated for a requested URL by the entries in this list, the gateway will access the URL via the nominated proxy subject to the following conditions:
If you check Use Intranet Web Proxy, the gateway will use the proxy unless you've put the URL in the Don't Use Web Proxy Enabled list, in which case it will send the request directly.
If you haven't checked Use Intranet Web Proxy, the gateway will use the proxy only if you have entered the URL in the Use Web Proxy Enabled list, otherwise it will send the request directly.
