Camera isn't functioning
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash (iPhone 4 only); try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center. Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. After recording begins, you cannot readjust focus until you stop recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll. Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

You see a closed lens or black screen
If you see a closed lens or black screen when you open the Camera app, try these steps:
Make sure that there’s nothing blocking the camera lens. If you’re using a case, try removing it.
Force the app to close, then open the Camera app again.
Restart your device, then open the Camera app again.
If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping (camera swap icon). If you see the closed lens or black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.

IPhone5 rear-facing camera and flashlight not working after iOs 7.0.3 update

This is my first time posting here so do forgive me if I leave anything out.
Problem 1
I updated my iPhone 5 to iOs 7.0.3 (on 10/22 when it released). Since then, my rear-facing camera has stopped working. When I open up the camera, it's just a black screen and I cannot take a picture or video, but the other elements on the screen are still functional: changing flash from auto/on/off, turning HDR on/off, switching from video/photo/square/pano, but still the screen remains black. When I switch to the front-facing camera though, it works fine. I can take pictures and video through that view.
Problem 2
The second problem that's happened as well is the flashlight in the control center is greyed out, can't click it at all.
Attempt to Fix
I brought my iPhone 5 to a Genius Bar. Guy took it to the back to open it up and check if there were any physical problems with the phone and camera. He came back, found nothing. Unfortunately my phone was no longer under the one-year warranty, so in order to fully replace the phone with a new or refurbished one, I would've had to dish out $200 something and I wasn't trying to do that just yet. So we decided to just wipe it clean and restore. After we did that, everything was working, the rear-facing camera, the flashlight, things were perfect. I left the Apple store, got on the train to head home. I opened up the camera to take a picture and long behold, it stopped working again. I got home and did the exact same thing the guy did, wiped my phone and restored. Everything was working again. I held my breath though... 1/2 hour later, same problems with the rear-facing camera and flashlight came back.
Just as a note, not sure if it helps, when I use third-party camera apps/photo editors, when I try to use the camera within those apps, it freezes and closes.
I don't know what else to do. It seems the only fix is restoring my phone and having the camera and flashlight work for a few minutes only to go back to the same problems. The Genius Bar didn't help. I'm not trying to give up $200 something when this is something that happened clearly because of the iOs 7.0.3 update. It was working perfectly fine before that.

WORKAROUND FOUND ! Download and install "Awesome Camera" app and take a picture with that app. After 1-2 seconds of standby, it will work. Then you can go back to default Camera app which would work again.Please let me know

Touch screen not responding after iOS 7.0.2 update

This morning I updated my iPhone 4s with the iOS 7.0.2. After the update I was prompted with the "Hello > slide to set up" screen, but when I tried to "slide it" nothing happened. I tried many times with my finger and a stylus, but still nothing. The screen eventually went black as it does when there is no activity. When I press the home button the "slide to set up" screen reappears. I tried holding the power button down, but couldn't "slide to power off". I restarted it by pressing the hold and home buttons at the same time, after the restart it went back to the "slide to set up" screen. The touch screen was working just fine up until the update. Please help me figure out what's wrong with my phone!

Gaming issues after iOS 7.0.6 update on iPhone 4S

Recently I updated my iPhone 4S to ios7.0.6 from ios5 and there are few very annoying problems.
Firstly the games that ran smooth on ios5 are lagging in gameplay. Also the games crash and close does very frequently.
For eg I play dead trigger 2 and it crashes very frequently in my phone.
And one more thing that I don't understand is that sound while playing games goes mute and back to full randomly. Some times while playing it goes totally mute sometimes it slows down and after a minute or so back to normal.
This is very irritating please help.
I have even tried turning off the parallax effect, background app refresh so as to reduce on the processing power but It didn't helped a bit.

The game worked fine for a day or so But now again I'm experiencing same problem....and the problem with gAme music remains the same.....I guess there's something to do with ram or cache resetting! Regretting ios7 update...
I used to play deer hunter 2 on ios5 and it couldn't have worked any better and now on ios7 it lags and game musics it ******* goes off...or volume level decreases without any reason... It's ******* frustrating.

IPhone 4S wifi not connecting after iOS 7+ Restore Factory

Hi There,
I'm using an iPhone 4S and which was working absolutely fine until I upgraded iOS 7 and then did a factory restore. When it asked me to setup the Phone, its not taking either wifi connection or Celluler connection (I'm using AT&T celluler connection) and I'm not even able to proceed further on this. It just got stuck at this point.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

That seemed to be some iTunes store connection error. I was getting error when connecting to iTunes and now its resolved.

Facetime, iMessage, and Mail not working after iOS 6.1.3 update

I've had my iPod touch 4th generation since Oct 2010 and never updated the iOS until very recently. Before the update, Facetime worked consistently and easily. After I finally got around to updating my iOS a week ago, my iPod has come into severe issues.
99% of the time, I cannot send or receive Facetime calls. If I try to make a call, it doesn't make the dial tone and eventually it just says "Connection Lost". Nothing happens if someone is trying to send me a call. I only Facetime with my boyfriend and his iPod hasn't changed since Facetime was last working. HIs other iPod is also updated with iOS 6.1.3.
I never used iMessage before the iOS update, but because it says on Apple support that it uses push notifications like Facetime does, so I tried it. Most of the time, I cannot send or receive messages. I rarely used Mail before the update, but I never had a problem with it. Now, when I enter my gmail password, it keeps saying my username and password are not correct, even though I haven't changed my credentials.
I only use my iPod for Facetime, iTunes, and Pandora. I don't need iMessage or Mail, but I am testing with those to see if this can help find the root cause of the problem. Pandora works smoothly so I know it's not a wifi connection issue. I have searched for remedies on end and tried:
1. Reset, turn off/restart, turn Facetime on and off, etc.
2. Changing the DNS server address to 8.8.8.8, which made Facetime work normally for one time and never again
3. Updating my Apple ID password online, then signing out and signing back in
4. Creating another Apple ID with my other gmail account. Maybe 1 out of 10 Facetime call attempts, I can generate the dial tone, but when my boyfriend clicks to receive the call, it says that I am unavailable. iMessage has about the same success rate. It seems when I miraculously can send or receive texts through iMessage, I can manage to get the dial tone when I try Facetime, though the call cannot go through.
This is of course extremely frustrating and I highly regret the update now. I was hoping for an improved iPod after the update, and now I have a near-dud! I did make sure to check my location and date and time, and both are correct (US, Central time). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I spoke too soon. I tried Facetime again last night and had the same problems. Another factory reset did not work. I think it may be time to just call Apple support.

Mac mail not working after ios 10.9.5 update

After updating to OS X 10.9.5, both of my email accounts are only sporadically sending email through Mac Mail. About 50% of my outgoing mail is rejected by my mail server Comcast. My email works on my iphone. My families' emails using Comcast work. Seems the latest ios is the culprit. How to fix?

You have to understand that EVERYTHING is IN ORDER!!! Yes, the emails sometimes leave the outbox, suddently, after beeing blocked for a long time.
I also lost a lot of emails like that, they went to Outbox, never left, and were erased.
Apple HAS TO DO SOMETHING and stop saying that it is our connection or settings that wrong. If it can work, it means all is in order. I really believe this comes from the last update. Please give us a solution, make it work!

HT4623 iPhone 4 not working after iOS 6.0.1 update

I have just updated my phone to iOS 6.0.1, however after the phone updated, it no longer switches on and I just have a grey screen. When I try and plug the phone into iTunes, it does not recognise anything. Is this likely to be a problem due to the updating iOS6.0.1 or has something else liekly to have broken on the phone and it's just pure coincidence that it happened when I did the update?

I would try a restore in itunes then set up as new iphone (dont use restore from back up) pain I know but it can do the trick.
Still no luck Apple Store get them to sort it or New Phone Please!

Earbuds with Mic and Skip Functions not working after IOS 6.0.1 update?

I have earbuds with a mic and skip buttons functions and noticed that mic and the skip music functions stop working after updating to IOS 6.0.1. Now when I talk on the phone the mic on iPhone itself is working and not the mic on my earbuds. Also when playing music he skip functions has stop working. Has anyone noticed these problems?

Phone restart > if that doesn't work then do a reset of the settings. Full restore would be the last option.

Music library not displayed after iOS 6.0.1 update

Okay so I updated to iOS 6.0.1 when it came out. Everything went smoothly however just a few days ago I thought I'd listen to some music. I opened up my music app and found that instead of my regular library of 3,000+ songs I had only 74. Before updating to 6.0.1 I had been listening to to Glenn Miller. Oddly enough Glenn Miller was not displayed in my artists list but the 'Now Playing' arrow would still take me to his album and I could play the whole thing. I did a search in my phone and nothing showed up for Glenn Miller. I checked my usage in settings and although under music it only said 435mb the total usage was the same as when my music took up took up about 23GB. This led me to believe that the music was still there but just not being displayed for some reason. I had a look around on the Internet and it seemed people had been having problems with the update but I couldn't find a similar case to mine.
Now you're probably thinking just restore your phone through iTunes. Buuuuuut I am currently traveling and don't have access to my laptop. I don't have iTunes Match so I've no way of re-syncing.
So my question is has anyone had a similar experience and found a way to fix it without going through iTunes? Or if you're from Apple please release a fix in 6.1!!

Calendar not syncing after iOS 4.3.1 update

Over-the-air calendar synchronization with MS Exchange (Outlook) seems to be broken after upgrading to iOS 4.3.1 (8F190). Worked fine last week with iOS 4.2.1. Both "Push" method and "Fetch" methods are affected. Email synchronization with the same Exchange server is working fine.
When someone sends a meeting invite, the invite temporarily shows up on the iPod touch calendar until the meeting is accepted on the PC (which causes the invite email to be deleted). At this point, the meeting shows up as accepted on the Outlook Calendar on the PC, but no longer shows up on the iPod Touch calendar.
I have also tried entering a meeting on the iPod touch calendar and it has not sync'd to the Exchange server. So the syncing issue seems to be bi-directional.
I'm not seeing any error messages regarding any sort of synchronization problems (actually I'm not sure where to look for such errors), so I'm entering a new topic.

I'm having the same problem after updating to 4.3 and it's driving me crazy.
I noticed today when some of the meetings I created on my iPhone were not on the Exchange server and some of the meetings I created in Outlook are not on my iPhone. I turned off calendar sync with my Exchange on the iPhone to clear the entries and turned it back on, but some of the calendar items will not sync no matter how many times I reset it.
I then decided to check my contacts and sure enough the latest contact I added to my iPhone never made it to the Exchange server. I'm not sure if the Exchange contacts are syncing to the iPhone yet, but I suspect they are not.
APPLE WE NEED A FIX ASAP! I left BlackBerry for iPhone because of how well the Exchange integration worked, but now it's REALLY BROKEN!
I am on 4.3 and not sure if I should update to 4.3.1?

App not downloading after IOS 6.1.3 update

Few days ago I have updated my ipad 2 and iPod touch 4 with IOS 6.1.3. Since than every time I tried to download An App from the AppStore I received the same messages on my IPAD and IPOD that apps can't be downloaded this time please try later . Also it gives me the same message when I tried to update the existing App.
I called apple support they asked me to reset my WIFII settings and reconnect again to WIFII , it did worked both on iPad and iPod for one App and started to give the same error message, very frustrating need help thanks

Try this:
Make sure IOS is updated to latest version

Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).

Mail not opening after iOS 6.0.1 update

Since updating to ios 6.0.1, my email will not open. It closes itself out as soon as I click on it. Same for email, calendar, and contact settings. Click on it and it doesn't open. I've restored and reset. Nothing is working. A lot of other things are glitching, but this is the worst.

I see you said you restored, from backup or new? if from backup, then restore as new!

I have the same problem and I've tried everything!!! There are sooo many people with this same problem but Apple can't help anyone that isn't under warranty anymore!!! This is a big problem for many people that Apple should recognize and offer replacements or solutions for. It's only after the update that my camera stopped working (and this is also true for many other ipod touch users). This issue is obviously caused by Apple either making faulty hardware, software, or both. I really hope that they will resolve this issue soon because it is not fair for those who are no longer covered by the warranty.
