Internet not staying up

Hello All.
When I get onto Safari, the iPhone downloads the page and then a few seconds later, the page will leave and my iPhone will go back to the home screen. I cannot get it to stay on any given page for more than about 10 seconds after it fully loads. Any suggestions?
Also- Is there any way to get the updates without plugging your phone into your computer to connect to iTunes?
Thanks,
AlyH

Thank You, I am trying it now....
I forgot about this reset!

  • Internet not staying connected

I normally connect to the internet through AirPort, but the last couple of days it hasn't been working. I get connected or so it says and everytime I try ti go to a webpage, it disconnects. I tried a few more times and it does the same bizswthing everytime. HELP!!!

Not quite the right place - I'll let the Hosts know, and if they see fit to move it I'm sure they will.
On your machine try the following:
    Open System Preferences --> Network
Show: Airport (select this option from the drop down next to 'show')
Select Airport tab on the far left.
By default, join: Preferred networks (again, select from adjacent drop down)
Ensure your network is in the list, and is at the top (drag and drop your network to the top to re-order).
If your network is not present, click the '+' sign below the box, and find your network and add it manually. If this is the only wireless network you want to use, select any others if present and click the '-' button below the box to remove them.
Good luck, let us know how you get on.

  • Is anyone having a problem with the new iPad (Gen. 3) not staying connected to the charger? It seems to ALWAYS get jiggled loose and no longer be charging. My iPad 1 has no issue but I can't browse Internet w/o new iPad unplugging. Horrible!

I notice that my new IPad (3rd generation) will not stay connected to the power cord at all, I'm not exagerating, if I plug it in and browse the Internet without fail it will become unplugged and I will have to push the plug back in (Ba-beep). Ive actually grown to despise that sound when you plug your iPhone or iPad in because it reminds me of how much money I spent on something that PHYSICALLY will not charge while I'm using it.
I know the problem with it holding a charge while in use, I get it, the screen is amazing and it takes a lot to run the display, however, it is unacceptable to me that I can't even keep the thing plugged in while I'm using it. I can not even leave it on my Cal King bed overnight because I will wake up in the morning to find that the plug has been jiggled loose in a corner, so it's still attached but not making a connection thus not being charged.
I love the 4GLTE from Verizon and I love the iPad, but I'm actually using my 1st generation IPad while I am at home so I can leave my new $900 iPad on a table to charge free of incident so I can use the 4G while I'm away from wifi during the day. I have been getting more upset about this because I can not even use the Griffin extended cord to charge the iPad and be far from the plug because only the original apple sync/charge cord will have a better shot at staying in. Absolutely none of my non apple cables will stay in the iPad 3 while having it in my hands.
The plug is at an angle, unlike the first iPad, not sure about the iPad 2. Please let me know if they have same issue.
If anyone else is having this problem with the Gen 3 iPad please let me know because I'm tempted to do something about it with apple and I'm hoping that I just for some reason have a bad cable receiver or something and maybe I can get a replacement and enjoy the iPad as I had expected to. There is no reason why I should be even using my first iPad and I have friends that want to buy it but I am not selling it because I'm unable to sell it because I can't handle the new iPad while it's plugged in, that is ridiculous if it's a common issue so please let me know!

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
    Thanks again!

  • IPhone 4 does not stay connected to internet over 3G+

I have an iPhone 4 on the telus network running the latest version of the os 4.3.3. My phone will not stay connected to the Internet most of the time. It looses connection and won't reconnect until I turn on airplane mode and then turn it back off. It also looses connection if I have wifi on and it detects a network but choose not to connect to it. I have restored my phone and it fixed the problem for half a day before it started again. I only have a couple months warranty left, is this covered do you think?

I don't have another phone to try. I took out the sim to check for deffects but it looked fine. Cleaned the sim card with alcohol and cleaned the aim compartment. Phone didn't loose Internet connection all day yesterday, but this morning went to check emails and wouldn't update until I turned airplane mode on then off again.

  • My Macbook will not stay connected to the internet, while my Dell computer works fine. Why? What can I do?

My sister and I both have Macbook Pros that will not stay connected to our internet (wifi). Our dell computers and HP computers in the household work great- but both of the Macs do not stay connected, and often say "you are not connected to the internet". I have saved our wifi name to the computer so it is registered as our home network- but it still will not work fast or stay connected for long periods of time. Is there a setting I need to change, or anything I can do? Very disappointed with how the Mac works with our wifi.

Mac's will have trouble connecting to WEP Encrpyted and/or "hidden" / "invisible " networks.
OpenWEP (insecure) or WPA2(AES) is the only secure standard.

Also make sure the date and time are current and updating to Apple's servers for your location in System Preferneces > Date and Time. Then reboot and reconnect.
If your still having trouble after this, take both machines back to the store for a free evaluation.

  • How do you resolve the problem of ipad not staying connected to internet. other laptops remain connected but ipad just disconnects after about 5 seconds.

how do you resolve the problem of ipad not staying connected to internet when other devices are connected. Ipad disconnects after about 5 seconds.

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.
If none of the above suggestions work, look at this link.

  • Not staying connected to my internet

not sure if this is the right forum, but hopefully someone can help. i just bought a new imac yesterday and have it all set up and running great. my only problem is, is that my imac will not stay connected to the wireless network in our house. myself and some others in the house have powerbooks and they stay connected without a problem.
i have set up my computer to recognize our network at the primary network, but it still kicks me off after a little bit or it will switch to a different network called "default". i am really not that educated on internet language so maybe that is my problem, but i have tried resetting the preferences running the "network diagnostics" everytime the internet isnt working. when i do run the network diagnostics it works. it connects, but only for a while. any ideas? if so i dont really understand ISP, TCP, etc. all i know is we have out internet from time warner cable and we are using a netgear router. thanks and sorry for my lack of intelligence on this subject.

  • My iMac is not staying connected to my wireless internet. Any suggestions?  My provider says it's a computer issue and not their problem.

My iMac is not staying connected to the wireless internet.  My provider tells me it's a computer issue and not their problems.  Any suggestions?

Please test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take the applicable steps in this support article. The Wireless Diagnostics program generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 2
Disconnect all USB 3 devices. If you don't know which are USB 3, disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
    Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. If you find that Wi-Fi works better with Bluetooth disabled, you should use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. Your router may not support it; in that case, you need a new router.
    Step 4
Open the Network pane in System Preferences and make a note of your settings in the Wi-Fi service. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the various tabs in the preference pane. If the preference pane is locked, unlock it by clicking the padlock icon and entering your administrator password. Delete Wi-Fi from the service list on the left by selecting it and clicking the minus-sign button at the bottom. Then recreate the service by clicking the plus-sign button and following the prompts.
    Step 5
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 6
    Reset the PRAM.
    Step 7
Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    Step 8
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

  • Iphone 4 does not stay connected to my network

Since upgrading to 6.1, my iPhone 4 does not stay connected to my network.  I have to input my password each time I leave my house.  My other devices stay connected, so the issue is with the upgrade.  Has anyone found a way to keep their IPhone connected to their network?  Thanks.

  • WI-FI does not stay on in the background

At home I only have wi-fi. In the past (prior to iOS7) my devices would stay connected to the internet even after I walked away and they screen went black, this was helpful because I could use find my iPhone to locate my devices in the house. Now however they do not stay connected, and it is impossiable to use find my iPHone to locate either my iPhone or iPad. This is not the same as it dropping wifi- when I am using the device it works like a champ, does not seem to stay connected in the backgroud though. It just renders one of the things I love about the iCulture- that I can find my devices, instantly useless.

I can't say that I have had issues like this with my iPhone or iPod Touch, it has always connected to any Wi-Fi I have tried to connect to!
However, I did find this article online which maybe of some use... http://www.anyiphone.com/2007/06/30/iphone-wifi-tips/

  • WRT54G v.5 will not stay connected to new laptop/Windows 7 Premium

WRT54G v.5 will not stay connected to new laptop/Windows 7 Premium. It continuously runs through a cycle of detecting, connecting, losing connection; detecting, connecting, losing connection, etc. A the router runs through this cycle, basically acting as if I have disconnected then reconnected to power to reset it, it disrupts my Internet connection to both my wired iMac and other, wireless desktop upstairs. Paid for Linksys support today and through remote access he set up a new network on my desktop (iMac). After he finished, the problem still existed. When I told him the problem hadn't been fixed,  he told me just wait for an hour or so and it should work itself out. It, of course, did not work itself out. Any ideas out there?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Never mind-I seem to have fixed the problem with a simple firmware upgrade. Funny how the Linksys support technician didn't think to ask what version of the router I have or suggest that I should try upgrading the firmware first. He was, however, quite good at trying to upsell me to a new router instead of trying to help me fix the problem I was having. Makes me want to go buy Netgear next time, thank you very much!

  • Ipod touch will not stay connected to network after trying to use scrabble

I had a new ipod touch and purchased the scrabble app from EA games. I could not log into facebook to load my games onto the app on my touch. The ipod would send me to my home page and disconnect me from the internet. Eventually my ipod would not connect to the network at all. I called Apple and they determined that the ipod was faulty and sent me a new one. Upon receiving the new ipod I downloaded and tried to use Scrabble again not thinking that the problem was the Scrabble app from the get go. Now again my ipod will not stay connected to the network. I have deleted the Scrabble app and reset my network settings and still nothing. It will occasionally connect but I cannot do anything with the ipod. However, it will work when plugged into my computer. I have contacted EA Games with the problem and they have "escalated my issue to their expert team", but I have yet to hear anything back from them. Anyone else having similar issues and know how to resolve this?

Contact the developer/go to their support site if only one app.

  • My iMac 10.6.8 will not stay asleep. It keeps coming back on seconds or minutes after I put it to sleep.

My iMac will not stay asleep. A few seconds to a few minutes after I put it to sleep, it comes back on.

OK, a few more things coming to mind:
Set the energy saver to sleep in 1 min
Diconnect every single peripheral you have connected to your iMac
Eject any DVD/CD you may have in the drive
Turn off all applications you have running
iTunes or DVD Player could be waking it constantly up if accessing your drives
Messaging apps could be looking for internet connection
    Disable Wi-Fi
Disable Bluetooth - you don't have cells paired to it, do you?
    Disconect Ethernet cable (if connected)
Spotlight - is it indexing your drive? (a dot within a magnifying glass would be pulsating and won't let your Mac go to sleep)
Connect a wired mouse - if you have it - and go to Apple menu then click SLEEP
If it remains asleep, keep adding all apps, devices and services back until you find which one is causing it.
If nothing helps, then I'm out of ideas....
In case you have Apple TV - the remote can indeed make it wake up.
