Internet not working on Non-Equipped Airport iMac w/ AE wired via Ethernet

I have a total of (3) non-equipped airport computers that I wanted to share Internet thru the (2) AEs and (1) AEBS. Using one computer, I manually configured the AE and powered it down, then using the same computer I configured the AEBS, then powdered up the AE and it showed SOLID GREEN!. FYI...I did select it to communicate with the AEBS by WDS. Now I have the Flowerpower iMac with ethernet cord plugged into the (1) AE, and it still has the Solid Green Light. The Built-in ethernet is not communicating with/to the Internet??
I went to "System Preferences" on the computer to check the "Network" settings. Is this where the problem lies?? Under the "TCP/IP" it has the "Configure" with options, which should it be? (Manual, DCHP, or DCHP with manual address)?
When I choose "DCHP", it self assigned the IP Address and then states that it might not be able to connect to the Internet, the "manual" and "DCHP with manual" states that I am connected, but it can't find the server web address that I'm looking for. I originally configured the AE using the info I got off of the AEBS, but not the exact same IP Address or Mac Address. I also configuring the Network Internet settings on the computer with that I found from the "System Preferences" on the graphite iMac with the RCA modem and AEBS attached via ethernet cables.
I think I'm getting confused... The AEBS has thru the Airport Admin. Utility:Internet, airport, network and WDS settings, the computer that's connected to it has thru the System Preferences: Network built-In ethernet with TCP/IP and ethernet settings, the AE has thru the Airport Admin. Utility: Internet, airport, Network and WDS settings and the computer connected to it has thru the System Preferences: Network built-in ethernet with TCP/IP and ethernet settings.
Do they all share some of the exact same information? Is there some fields that I don't need to fill in or select? If I'm manually filling in the information, Where do pull that correct information from?
Okay after stating that, it makes me sound like I don't have a clue and I'm just lucky that I got the AE to turn on Green. But I haven't found anything published addressing this exactly and straight forward.
Can anyone who has done this and succeeded go over this step-by-step? and unravel the all twisted up information that's going around and around in my head?
iMac G3 Graphite, iBook G3 Graphite Clamshell, iMac G3 FlowerPower   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I had to manually configure the AX and the Built-In Ethernet on the flowerpower iMac, when I tried to do it automatically with DCHP, it self-assigned the IP Address and would not let me connect on the Internet nor was the light green. I remembered iFelix's instructions stating that I would have to do it manually and the light turned green again! and my email works on the graphite BUT now I can't get the AX to appear in the Airport Admin. Utility, so I rechecked my settings thru the Airport Admin. Utility and in the Airport I checked the "enable the IR option". and............ well It appeared and I went to the flowerpower iMac with my daughter by my side, we both held hands eagerly awaiting to see if the web page would load and........ and......... and....... and......... and........ WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO she screamed, I screamed, she screamed again sooooooo loud that I didn't notice that I was still screaming too! IT WORKS!!!!! It REALLY WORKS!!!!!!!
Look, are you looking? Can you see I'm smiling ear to ear!!!!!
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!
For anyone wanting tips, please refer to my other thread Re: Can the Airport Express be used as an external card too? start by me.

I think that others could provide better suggestions if you provide a clear description of your network setup.  You obviously have two computers that have wireless capability but I'm not clear if you are using a wireless router or if you are connecting the one Mac through Ethernet.
Unless you have a specific reason that you cannot do so, each computer should connect directly to a wireless router instead of trying to use Internet Sharing.
If you give some clear details of your setup, and why it's set up that way, then I'm sure that there are some folks that can help figure this out for you or suggest a better configuration.

  • Internet not working after turning Airport on

    Hello,
All of a sudden, I can not connect to the internet when I turn the Airport on. The signal looks strong. But when I open my browser, it gives an error page. On a cafe where there is a free wireless internet that I go to often and had no problems connecting, gave me this message recently.
    IP Configuration
192.168.1.46 in use by 00:18:39:88:81:fc, DHCP Server 192.168.1.1
Is there anything that I need to update in my Airport settings? If so, where? I have been trying to look for that and don't seem to have any luck.
    Thanks for any help.

I am trying to setup my new time capsule but it is not working. after entering the airport utility and locating the TC, after I tell the program to continue, the unit just disappear from the menu and the setup menu says there is an error. I tried using the wireless connection, and also the cable, but none worked. Any idea of what could be happening?

What are you setting it up as.. join wireless network .. the very worst setup, it will disappear.. reboot the whole network in order modem. router TC.. clients and it will likely reappear.
Tell us what network setup you are using..
If you setup with cable to a computer completely isolated from the network with TC also isolated.. finish the setup of everything you want. .before update.. then plug it into the network. .then restart everything in correct order.. it will work most of the time.

You don't in the condition it's in. You will either have to get the phone replaced by Apple or pay a 3rd party to repair it.
there seriously should be more than two ways to solve this other wise apple is useless and we will never buy another apple product.
    Seriously? It's physically broken!

  • Why does Server Monitor not work with non-Xserves?

Does anyone know why Server Monitor does not work with non-Xserve computers? We acquired a Power Mac for a server, based on there being no apparent difference except for the obvious. Turns out there are some differences after all.
Do Power Macs lack some hardware components or is this just a software thing?

God question, unfortunitly I dont have the answer but I would also like to know why the software only works for X-Serve....Is there any 3rd Party Software that is similar to "Server Monitor"?
    Thanks

  • IMac to Time Capsule via Ethernet and wireless to MacBook

Hi, here was my previous situation:
MacBook connected wirelessly to TC for Time Machine. TC was not linked directly to router, but for extending the network.
Now I have a new iMac which I connected via Ethernet to the TC to use for Time Machine and external storage for iTunes. That works fine, however...
The TC is no longer part of the wireless network, so my MacBook can not connect any longer.
Is there anybody who can help with this? Tx very much in advance and best regards, Marc Dierens

If someone comes across this post, any help would be apprciated. i have the same issue. The time capsule is attached by ethernet to cable modem. The time machine is also connected by ethernet cable to my G5. The time capsule shows up in airport utility. I also have internet and mail. The Time capsule network is also seen by my wifes macbook pro and she has internet.
However, the time capsule does not show up in my sidebar or on my desktop and it does not show up as an option as the backup disk for time machine - in fact no disks show up.
    Help,

  • HT1515 do you need to connect the airport express to a router via ethernet or can it do it using wireless?

do you need to connect the airport express to a router via ethernet or can it do it using wireless?

There are 3 Apple routers....AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule. Details here:
    http://www.apple.com/compare-wifi-models/
Do you have one of these products in the living room?
If no, you can only use the AirPort Express by connecting to the router in the living room using an Ethernet cable at all times.

  • Internet does not work. Modem is fine. iMac is fine. SOS!!!

My iMac is connected to the internet via ethernet. For some reason my internet doesnt work anymore. I went through all the diagnostics and went through all the proper steps provided on the homepage of safari to try and get working myself. NOTHING.  I then called my ISP and had them remotely check and see if they can work it out and they said,"It was not an issue with their hardware they can see, nor and issue with their line. You should take your iMac to get it checked."
I did. I went to the Apple retail store in Escondido, Ca. and like always they were awesome!  They checked my iMac and ran all the diagnostics that they have in-store. They even connected it to the ethernet cable that they had. INTERNET!!! Everything checked out clean and with no issues, Even my non Apple ram that I installed.  I then went to the ISP and even exchanged my modem for a brand new one with new cables.  Went home and nothing. short of pulling my hair out I scheduled an appointment for the ISP to come and take a look at the issue.  The tech even pulled out his laptop (which was not apple) connected the ethernet and wala!! INTERNET. For the next 45 mins he toyed with the settings and tried to work his way around the computer and I got nothing, just a handshake and in a regretful tone, like my dog failed to make it home from being lost across country, "I'm sorry, but you still have no internet." I am currently at work, but when I get home I am going to reformat my computer and reinstall snowleapord and see where that takes me.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Wait, don't reinstall yet.
Hi, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
    Also, turn off IPv6:
    System Preferences » Network » Ethernet » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
    Or whatever Interface you use.

  • ITunes and Internet not working on iMac G5

My iMac G5 didn't show the hard drive when it booted up so I took it to the genious bar and they did the Apple Alt R Command to restore settings.  Now iTunes and the Internet wont work.  When I try to open iTunes it tells me that I can't use iTunes with my OS - but I used it before with no problems.  The Internet just won't connect using the Air Port.  Any ideas?

Try restting Airport and see if you can upgrade to Leopard, you are probably trying to download an intel version of iTunes.

Apple's support section (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306256) says "How to enable Cisco VPN connections
You should use Cisco's VPN client software to establish a Cisco VPN connection via an AirPort Extreme base station. Note: In the Cisco VPN client preferences, make sure the "NAT-T" option is enabled.
