Yes, you can activate a regular (non data) phone on your phone line and then eliminate the data plan.  There is no cost to activate the regular phone on your line.  It must be a Verizon brand phone and have a clear ESN.

    On the Torch model yes, you can use the WiFi connected Hotspot browser for internet surfing and a few other applications, but very few BlackBerry data applications.

  • Video streaming from internet on BlackBerry - RIM Api

    Hello, i have been trying to stream a video from internet using Connector class and Input stream, but i had some problems with the following code:
    public InputStream inputStreamFromURI(String uri) throws Exception
    InputConnection conn = (InputConnection) Connector.open( uri, Connector.READ );
    InputStream inputStream = conn.openInputStream();
    return inputStream;
    The method's job is return an object InputStream from the URL, in my case, I use it for get a video in mp4 format. But the previous code didn´t work, maybe because my program is trying to play the video when the file in not complete yet. Could somebody explain me the reason please? Well, the important part is than the following code DID WORK:
    public InputStream inputStreamFromURI(String uri) throws Exception
    InputConnection conn = (InputConnection) Connector.open( uri, Connector.READ );
    InputStream in = conn.openInputStream();
              ContentConnection s = (ContentConnection) Connector.open(uri);
    byte servletData[] = new byte[(int) s.getLength()];
    in.read(servletData);
    InputStream inputStream = new ByteArrayInputStream(servletData);
    return inputStream;
    Here I get sure than the file is totally downloaded in my byte's array, then the array is used to create an InputStream, which is returned. Maybe this code could be useful for somebody. But I have a new problem: the BlackBerry support only 256 KB for download, (Model 8130; Some newest models support around 2 MB, in the best case) and I have to stream videos of around 3 MB, so I need to get the video in several parts!
    MY QUESTION IS:1- CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME WITH THIS?
    2- IS THERE SOME CODE ALREADY MADE FOR STREAM VIDEOS ON RIM API? HOW CAN I GET IT?

    Hello Harsharaora29528
                                                 To Activate Internet on your device you need to Contact your Carrier Airtel ,they can add it on your account.And if you want to enjoy all applications of BlackBerry like BBM,push email service ,Facebook for BlackBerry etc the you need to have Specific BlackBerry Data Plan not a generic data plan ,you Carrier can add it on your account.

  • Playbook not connecting to Internet via blackberry bridge

    I am the owner of the playbook and love it everything's great. I recommend it to a couple of people and they are having problems.  The biggest one and reason for my cry out today is, I talked my aunt into the blackberry tablet as opposed to the kindle fire, because she is the owner of a blackberry smartphone from AT&T.  I told her how my phone connects through the bridge to get the Internet on the go without wifi, and as soon as I helped her set up her tablet with the new software she can not get the Internet through the blackberry bridge.  When I connect my blackberry smartphone to my play book I can still access the Internet without wifi so I'm  thinking its the update which I haven't done yet mine yet.  Can someone please help me, my aunt is older and depending on me and I have no clue what happened!  Thanks

    AT&T require you to pay for their Internet tethering bolt on in order to use the browser etc via bridge.

  • Internet on blackberry curve 8520 web n walk not working!

    I just added on unlimited interent to my t-mobile plan and the web'n'walk application is not letting me accessthe internet. It shows up on my plan that the internet has been added on.
    I get a message saying : Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider.
    I've already re-booted it but still get the same message.

    Hi
    Do what it says. Check with your service provider. Does the unlimited allowance include the BB service? Ask them whilst you check with them. Generic plans don't include BIS.

  • Connecting to the Internet with Blackberry 8310

    I have been having problems connecting my blackberry to the Internet how do I do ladies and gentleman

    Hi
    Welcome to the EE Community!
    Have you tried doing a soft reset by removing the battery without turning the device off. Leave the battery out for 20 seconds then pop it back in and reboot?
    This normally works wonders if your having issues with a Blackberry!
    Thanks.

  • Slow internet connection Blackberry 8520

    Since purchase, my internet connection has been painfully slow to the point it is not worth using. it is the same whether using WIFI connection.
    any advice?
    BlackBerry Curve 8520
    carrier T-mobile
    thanks

    Raymond,
    From your description it doesn't sound as if an Airport 802.11n product is involved here, and therefor you may receive more focused responses if you post this message in another forum here.
    As for the problem itself, I'd try connecting your PowerBook G4 17" via ethernet and temporarily disable Airport then test if the problem is persisting in order to isolate it to either Airport or not.
    Regards,
    Chris

  • Remote DVR Management from Internet and Blackberry app - not working

    So I downloaded the app for my phone, and logged in online.
    when i go to "recorded programs", the list never populates. this happens on my phone and online. i'm not home, and i wnated to erase some shows to make room. is there something i need to do on the box itself or on the router at home?

    Has it ever worked?  You may want to shut down your router and STB's.  Then you will want to turn on the router, wait and then turn on the STB.  See if this resolves the issue.

    ~Gday from Down Under~

    I have registered my email and selected a blackberry email as well.  I had to go online to Tmobile and register my email as I only have 2 options at the "add email" screen.
    1) I want to use a work email account.
    2) I want to skip email setup.
    I do not have the option here for adding my own email.
    I have yet to receive email to my phone.
    While at the Tmobile store, the rep registered my phone so I could get the email accounts set up.  When I look at my account online, I see the emails I have added to the account.
    I get no emails.  I sent one to my blackberry account, but still no emails.
    I had a pearl that I borrowed last year and it was no problem.  Actually got too many emails.  Now I get none, only text messages.
    Suggestions?

  • Internet Services Are Not Always Connected.. Help!

    I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 with T-Mobile unlimited internet and Blackberry services.
    Untill about 2/3 weeks ago I had the blackberry for about 2 months and was working perfectly, however now it's started to have some problems with internet services.
    The problem is that most of the time it just won't connect to the internet anymore. Things like Whatsapp, Googlemail, The Blackberry Store, Browser, just dont work. Yet sometimes they do. For example with whatsapp, it will suddenly stop sending/recieving messages and then recieve them hours later. BBM seems to be fairly consistent however.. but is just really slow sometimes.
    Anyone know what the problem could be?
    Any help appreciated! Thanks

    AKrev, have you rebooted the device lately?
    Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

  • Mobile internet or tathering

    Dear friends,
    I am not able to use mobile internet through blackberry curve 9360(os 7) using data cable on my lenovo laptop running windows vista os.I have downloaded the blackberry desktop software (700_b060_multilanguage.exe) successfully on my laptop.but when I tried to connect my phone to laptop using data cable for mobile internet a error "initialization failed" shows.I am using vodafone connection with BIS service activated.Please help!

    Hello,
    Please start here:
    KB05178 Support for tethered modem use
    Note carefully that not all carriers support this function. Note further that, of those that do, many charge extra fees for it, and therefore it needs to be specifically subscribed to from the carrier. Either of those could be the case given the message you receive, so I'd recommend ringing up your mobile service provider to find out.
    Good luck!
