Internet only on wifi after update to 4.0

I updated my wifes iPhone 3GS to 4.0 and had a couple problems.
1) Could only get internet on WiFi. Tried restoring over and over,and did resets.
Nothing worked. Only could get it to working if I set it up as a new iPhone.
Then when I synced it to restore the settings the problem would come back.
2) Related to this if it was in the state of a new phone where internet worked,
in the network settings the information about tethering would be there, but after I synced it which causes the internet not to work the tethering information wouldn't be there.
According to a Apple support Rep I spoke to about this the only sollution is to
first make sure you sync it to your contacts so you don't loose those then set it up again as a new phone. She said all your apps will be available for free once you sign back in to the app store. My wife will still have to manually redo her music play list. Which I know she'll be mad about.
Hope this helps anyone suffering from the same problem.
I'm waiting till the next update before I do my update. Hopefully it'll work like it should then.

Same problem in Germany with Telekom. I've tried everything, but the picture button won't appear with iOS 4. The internet connections via Edge/G3 doesn't work either. Did a complete restore yesterday, did the requested update for carrier settings... now i've issues connecting to Wi-Fi too and still no MMS service.
Sorry Apple, but this really *****! Please do something!!

Once the phone goes into sleep mode, it is supposed to auto disconnect from wifi to save battery. Are you saying that once you wake the phone up it will not auto connect at that time?
Suggest you try and forget the network, then go in and try the reset network settings again and then try to rediscover the network and connect again. Have you tried to do a reset of the phone, but holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release?

I updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 6. I cannot connect to my wifi after updating to iOS 6. I updated while connected to iTunes. I can no longer connect to the wifi that I had previously used at that location. However, I can connect to all of the other wifi areas I had previously connected to ie. home, coffee shop, etc.
I have tried turning off cellular data.. Other than not being able to connect to my office wifi it appears that iOS 6 is working properly..

I have the same problem too and I have not been able to "fix" it. It is very frustrating! My other electronics connected to my wifi: pc, ipad, iphone 3G,and TV they all working fine. I went to the Apple store and they say this problem is ralated to my network provider, then when I went to AT&T they say it is Apples problem. Who do you believe?

After I have updated to Mac OS X Lion, I can't access to internet. My computer is iMac 20-inch, Mid 2007. can access to internet only with ethernet. I use onlu his wi-fi adapter. Nothing additional. I have a similar problem. Does the network show up? It shows up for me, but does nothing when clicked. Entering information manually using Join Other Network is my temporary solution.

Problem accessing internet using time capsule after update to mountain lion

After updating my macbook air to moutain lion i am having some trouble accessing internet.
Evertytime i re-start my mac or airport utility i am able to access internet properly. After sometime when i access some particular sites, internet access goes down and i need to restart time capsule to access internet again.
Even though in airport utility internet is marked as disconnected, time capsule's indicator is still glowing green colour.
I tried deleting the com.apple.timemachine.plist file from /Library/Preferences/, but still no luck.
Is anybody else also facing the same problem? How can i resolve this problem?

Is the time capsule the only router in the network?
Try setting the lease time in the TC to very short value.. 20min or even less, 10min. It will not add signficant network traffic but might keep the Air updated to the TC.
I would also use SMB compatible name for the TC as well as wireless.. ie short, no spaces.. pure alphanumeric.
Set a different name for 5ghz so it cannot swap around.
And lock the wireless channels. Try each channel in turn, to see if any are better.

Ipad mini problem with wifi after update 6.1.3

My ipad mini was working fine before the 6.1.3 upgrade, immediately after updating, the wifi stopped working. Restore the iPad to its factory settings as deleting both my data and to reintroduce the network, was still not working.
Help please!

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Some other things to try:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

The Apple Support person walked me thru this. If you have the classic 'greyed out' wifi problem with your iPhone 4s. Very easily fixed:
Read all instructions before starting:
1. Try to toggle on/off airplane mode check.
2. Try the old turn on/off trick. Check.
3. Try resetting Network Settings. Settings > General > Reset Network Settings Check.
4. Ensure your phone is backed up to iCloud before proceeding. Very important you do this. Check.
5. Wipe your phone. Settings > General > Reset All Settings. Keep in mind this will wipe your phone but you have that iCloud back up.
6. Check if wifi is working. No, then no prolbem: You have the option to have your 4s fixed which is probably out of warranty. No deal? Ok, you have the option of purchasing a new phone? Still no deal? Proceed to next step if these options are no good and you decide to live without wifi.
7. Restore your phone from the iCloud. Oh, you don't have wifi. Then you can't restore your phone.
