Internet Plug in problem!!
Hi, I am kinda new with macs in general. I have a Mac Mini and when I go to certain web sites I get a message that says "The page “Restore America 2005 : Home & Garden Television” has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed."
----So the question is how do I get this plug in. I have looked for it but can't find it, nor do I know what that plug in is? Please help!!!

Neither Windows Media Player nor Flip4MAC are Universal Programs.
Microsoft is not updating Windows Media Player or providing new security fixs to their program. They point you to Flip4MAC, which will sometime in the future be a Universal program.
From what it sounds like you want to use Safari go to a page and play media. So you need a plug in. The only way to make Windows Media Player work with Safari is to have Safari run under Rosetta.

PS Safari is quite a bit slower running under Rosetta.
Now if it is a file that you can download and save to your desktop you can open that file from within Windows Media Player without having to do anything with the browser. But it sounds like the site you are going to wants to run it in the browser. Another poster provided the link to Window Media Player so I will not add that to this post.

Safari cannot find the internet plug in
I have a new Intel iMac that initially had no problem surfing any web site. I now have a problem with any page that contains "shockwave". As and example when I try to got to www.autotoll.com.hk I get stopped by the following message...

I have gone to macromedia numerous times and tried to download and install Flash Player 9. I still get the same message.

i am not that comfortable in Terminal so I opted for the one other option i could see that doesn't reliance on me typing a slew of sensitive characters into Terminal.
So, instead, I downloaded Pseudo from VersionTracker
http://versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/9608
installed it in my applications folder. then dragged the Flash 9 installer onto Pseudo. Flash then installed perfectly and all is working well.
It seems there is a simple fix after all. Apparently Pseudo installs into the root and therefore, I assume, bypasses the permissions issues. After 2 days of trying to solve this, I"m happy it's over. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. I hope others can find this thread and the solution.

Flash Player (Safari Internet Plug-in) quit unexpectedly - yes, another one
I know there are a dozen posts similar to this - please trust I've read them all but can't get to a resolution. I am getting a "Flash Player (Safari Internet Plug-In) quit unexpectedly" message on every page with Flash content. This all started trying to download new audio for my kids' Tag reader books. It said I needed to update my Flash, so I did. It still didn't work, apparently the new version was too "new". But now, it's not working anywhere.
I've tried the following suggestions:
Uninstalled Flash using uninstaller provided at adobe.com, and removed all Flash folders
Reinstalled very latest Flash & Safari (via the respective websites and not with "Software Update") with reboots & repair permissions between steps
Clear Safari Cache and delete Flash Cache folders
Installed an earlier version of Flash
Removed all contents of Internet Plug-Ins folder except the FlashPlayer.plugin
Created a new user account
Tried using Firefox (didn't work there, and have now uninstalled it)
Using ClicktoFlash is not an option - my kids use Flash based websites all the time on this computer. I don't have the "flashing plug-in icon" issue a previous poster put up, so that resolution won't work.
I'm losing my mind, and am at hour 10 or so of this process. I would like to avoid reinstalling the OS if possible, and not quite sure when I'm at that point. Any further suggestions would be most appreciated!!

That could mean a problem with the startup disk.
Launch Disk Utility /Applications/Utilities
Select MacintoshHD on the left then select the FirstAid tab. Click: Verify. If Disk Utility reports errors, you will need to boot from your install disc to make repairs.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your startup disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is always 15% free space. -
OSX Lion QuickTime Internet Plug-In causes high CPU load
I have OSX Lion installed.
Now I have a CPU load between 80 to 130% caused by the Quicktime internet plug-in if I watch my ip-camera with Safari. Also I get no Audio out of my ip-camera anymore. In SnowLeopard everything was fine, Safari CPU load at 30%. What is wrong ? Can anybody help me ? It is an Y-Cam Knight SD and a MacMini core 2 Duo.
Karsten Preussner from GERMANYI had this same problem and couldn't get it to work at all. I tried to install the 3IVX plugin listed here and it didn't do anything. So I uninstalled it.
Then I thought to try my Macbook Pro and see if it was working on that computer, sure enough it was. I checked the HD/Library/Quicktime folder and it only had 4 items in it, whereas on the Mac Pro (that was not working) had 19 itmes in there. So, I moved all 19 out to a new folder and copied only the ones that were in the MBP. When I opened Safari IT WORKED!!! NO MORE PLUGIN FAILURE.
So, I must have just had too many old things in the quicktime folder that was causing it to fail.
Here is a screenshot of my HD/Library/Quicktime folder contents. The top folder shows the 4 items that should be in there (Perian is optional) and the bottom window in the screenshot shows all the stuff I previously had in there which caused the failure.
So If you are having this plugin failure, try removing all but these essentials from your HD/Library/Quicktime folder. It worked for me! -
I recently installed a plug-in called Garmin Communicator Plug-in for a Garmin watch I've just bought. Using it with an online facility called Garmin Connect, it required this plug-in in order for parts of the site to work correctly. Unfortunately, the plug-in didn't install correctly and after locating the file in the Internet Plug-ins folder I deleted it then re-installed it, but sadly it still doesn't work. I know it's compatible with Safari 4.0.2 as it worked perfectly on my Macbook, the problem is on my iMac. Will there be any other file besides the one I've tried deleting that I'd have to delete in order to re-install the plug-in successfully? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
No you don't need to delete it first.
Just to join the dots:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

I've been getting this message about every 10-15 minutes for the last week. I've taken to just leaving my "Force Quit Applications" window open so I can kill Flash Player as quickly and efficiently as possible. (It turns out that just doing that also force-quits the accompanying "Safari Web Content (not responding)" message.) Then I'm good for another 10-15 minutes until another opportunity rolls around for Flash Player to freeze my browser screen.
This problem started shortly after I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.10.3 (+ supplement) and Safari 8.0.5. I've downloaded Flash Player 3 times in the last week (most recently Version 17.0.0.169 earlier today), but to no avail. The only thing that seemed to help was trashing the Flash Player plug-in from my "Internet Plug-Ins" folder. But then, of course, I was SOL the next time I fired up a website that required it.
How can I make this problem go away?Please try disabling hardware acceleration. See the instructions in the video troubleshooting guide for details:

On 23rd December I installed Quicktime 7.3.1 and Security Update 2007-009.1.1 using the Software Update facility from the Apple logo button on top left of the menu bar.
I did the usual Repair Permissions before and after the update.
Since then the machine has crashed at least once a day when using Safari. The Problem Report appears to be the same each time it crashes and seems to be pointing the finger at the Flash Player Plug-in.

Looking through the various threads in the Safari Discussions forum, it would appear that quite a few are experiencing similar problems which Hawaiian Starman and iBod have been able to help resolve.
If any one can help I would be most grateful, but please try and keep it simple, as I am not very technically minded.

Yes and no. The final place where the thread bombs out refers to "...ple.ApplicationServices.ATS"
ATS is Apple Type Service, in other words, font handling.
Have you recently installed any new fonts? (Either as part of some new printer drivers, or Word processor installation etc?)
Check in FontBook to see if you have [any duplicates and disable them if necessary|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=FontBook/2.0/en/fb1799.h tml]. -

Did you repair permissions & restart after installing flash? If so, then try the following:
To fix a QT related problem w/Safari, quit Safari & look in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder (this is the Library folder at the root level of your HD, not the one inside your Users/user name folder).
Try removing the VLC Plugin.plugin (if you have it) & *QuickTime Plugin.webplugin files from this folder, & then relaunch Safari. If the problem isn’t fixed, a different plug-in may be to blame. Keep removing files from this folder (start with any third-party plug-ins that are present) until the problem disappears.
Replace the plug-ins that don’t cause any problems.

If you have an Intel-based Mac, running Safari in Rosetta can also resolve some QT plug-in issues.
First quit the app if it’s open & then, in your Applications folder, select Safari & press Command+I.
In the General area of the Safari Info dialog that appears (click the disclosure triangle if this area is not already expanded), select Open Using Rosetta, & then close the Safari Info dialog.
Relaunch Safari.

Has QT Error Plug In Problem Solved Yet?
I am still having problems streaming videos. Sometimes I get the error probem and other times I don't. Does ANYONE have a fix for this yet. Has either QT or IE admitted to the problem?

Dell XPS 600 Windows XP ProWhen you looked in the /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ folder did you find the Real Player plug-in? You sort of failed to mention if it was there. Did you quit your browser and then re-open it?
Perhaps it did not get installed properly. It's also possible the website itself will only work if accessed from a Windows browser.
You may want to try this:
Boot from your Tiger DVD. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.1.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X. -

About 2 weeks ago I began receiving an error message for most every web page I visited, like this: The page “Unable to Load Plug-in. ESPN.com attempted to load an Internet plug-in named “Shockwave Flash”, but the plug-in failed to load successfully."
I never had any problem like this before, and I think it is linked to one of a few updates (not sure at this point which ones I ran) I downloaded from apple around the same time. I have tried to reinstall shockwave, but none of my downloads will "mount" now. I'm fairly new to macs and a little uneasy about getting in any deeper on my own, even if the answer might be readily apparent to a more sophisticated user. fwiw, I'm running OSX 10.4.3.
I would appreciate any thoughts that anyone might have in diagnosing this problem. Thank you.I set up a new admin user account, logged in, but the problem persists.
I take this to mean that you still can't mount any downloads. What you're saying is that you can't mount any .dmg file by double-clicking on it. Is that correct? One other thing to try is reinstall the 10.4.3 Combo update before trying to reinstall Safari or the entire OS. -

There are two libraries.
One is root;: /Library
The other is user : ~/Library
The Disabled plugins is in root /Library

Safari acting up & no internet plug-in
How come Safari is acting up this evening? Yahoo says that I need a Internet Plug-in. Help.

I will tell you that I have a Power Mac G4 with two hard drives. First one with OS 9.0 and used only for old Adobe software and backups. The second one is for OS X 10.4 with a upgrade of 10.4.11 from Apple. My Processor: Dual 1 GHz Power PC G4; 2MG L3 cache per processor. Startup Disk OX X10.4 with memory 1.5 GR SDRAM. I have to have two hard drives as the old Adobe software: Pagemaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canvas will not go onto OS X 10.4. The upgrades to these will go onto OS X10.4.
My mac does not have problems with starting up. It starts fine. The problem is that I can't seem to get Adobe Flash Player to work. It loads on fine but doesn't work at all. And now Safari has kidded me off of the internet (4) four times this evening. There was 14 downloads from Apple between the dates 1/30/2012 - 2/2/2012. That was great. But Safari is giving me a lot of trouble. I need to know what I can do to get the Internet Plug-in on and to stop Safari kicking me off of the internet.
I will have to call Adobe and ask them for an older version of Flash Player and go the way to the back door to get the new Flash Player to work. If this doesn't work then I will have to try to hire an old mac person to help me. I really don't want to do this as they will do things their way and chances are they won't know what to do. Please Limnos will you help me???

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

Once downloaded if it doesn't unzip automatically the double click on that file.
Look for the fp10.1.102.64_and_9.0.289.0archive folder, open it, look for the Flash Player 10.1.102.64 folder & open and look for 101r10264 folder & open it, double click on the flashplayer101r102_64_ubmac.dmg file, choose the Install Adobe Flash Player file to install... they don't make it easy!

The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a leter version installed.

I hope someone can help me here also. This is the reason why my son put safari 1.2 on my Mac. He was trying to fix a problem with shockwave flash. When going to a web page and it happens on almost all of them. This is just what it says when going to like yahoo.com
