Internet plug in that Safari doesn't support

Ouestion. Brand new Mac OSX 10.4 Not able to open Internet programmes,
keep getting Safari doesn't support. Have tried ticking the Rossett box in Safari
with no results. I had no trouble with G4 laptop with Panther. Would appreciate some help , thanks sarsfield

Hi,
You need to install additional plug-ins for Safari to work with RealPlayer or Windows Media video streams.
Flip4Mac (for Windows Media playback)
Real Player (free download link in the top right hand corner)
Note that Flip4Mac is not yet a Universal Binary so you will need to continue running Safari in Rosetta mode for that to work correctly.
If you're still having problems after installing those, please post the website in question so we can take a closer look.
Good luck!

I've upgraded to yosemite, and safari tells me it doesn't support "community toolbar". How can I get this feature back?

The "community toolbar" is part of the adware Conduit. You don't want that feature back!
    See: http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-conduit/

  • When I open safari I get a popup that says " this version of Safari doesn't support the community tool bar". Cure the ignorace someone - whats a community tool bar - apparently I have one but don't know what I'm looking at. -

You installed the Conduit spyware. To remove it, triple-click the following line of text to select it:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Conduit
Copy (command-C) the text to the Clipboard. Then select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the Finder menu bar and paste (command-V) into the box that opens. A Finder window may open with a folder named "Conduit" selected. If so, delete the selected folder.
Select Go to Folder again and enter:
    /Library
From the folder that opens, delete the following items, if they exist. You may be prompted for your login password.
    Application Support/Conduit
    InputManagers/CTLoader
    LaunchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
    ScriptingAdditions/ct_scripting.osax
Close the folder. Now select Go to Folder one more time and enter:
    /Applications/Toolbars
Delete that item. Close the Finder windows you opened. Log out and log back in.

If you are trying to download flash player then you can't - it's not supported and probably never will be (http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ and Adobe have failed to create a version that works on iOS), and you can't download extensions/plug-ins via Safari anyway (you can only install what is available in the App Store).
The Skyfire, iSwifter, and Puffin browsers work on some flash-based sites (but not judging by their reviews), or you could look to see if the sites have their own apps in the store.

  • Internet connection okay, but safari doesn't work !

    Dear All,
Internet connection okay, but safari doesn't work ! Version 6.0.2
    Appriciate your support

    hi there Michael
sorry for the delay was on leave
when i say download the software from the Apple's website i mean download the software update for mac os x 10.3.9
as once you reinstall panther again it will revise back to the original version of the OS which came along with the computer when you purchased which will cause safari to be incompatible with
so once you do a software update for you operating system it will get it compatible with safari
so to get the update you can download it from the computer you have it burn the update on a CD or DVD and then install it on this computer
you can get the download from
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxcombinedupdate1039.html
just click on the link above to get to the page then click on the number 117mb on the upper right hand corner
once you have downloaded it burn it to a disc and install it on your computer
hey sorry if i did not make myself clear earlier

  • What does IE for Mac have that Safari doesn't?

    Hi, folks.
The administrative website of my company doesn't work in Safari. That's a fact.
I've always accepted the idea that it would not work in Safari because it uses windows-only technology. BUT, the fact is that it works in Internet Explorer for Mac.
Since IE for Mac stopped in version 5, the sites gets very ugly (trucated text, out-of-size windows, giant bars), ugly but still functional.
So, if it works in IE for Mac, it seems for me that the site doesn't require Windows, but something found in IE that Safari doesn't have.
Does anyone know what this could be?
    Thanks in advance.
    JP

Without a URL to the pages we're all guessing.
Web pages are not designed for OS's and those that work for Windows should also work on Macs.
But many functions of Web design is optimized for specific browsers and, since IE for PC's is still about 75%, it seems it gets the most attention.
Since most Windows browsers do not play by the "rules" set forth in Web standards those old, poorly coded, pages do not render as designed when viewed in a browser that does follow industry standards.
Update your page code and it will work in any browser.

  • HT1338 I am trying to download adobe flash player on to my ipad2 i keep getting this massege that safari does not support this ?

    Hi
    anyone there
I want to down load adobe flash player to my I pad but  a massage show up saying Safari does not support this ?
    Anyone there?

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
    Puffin
    SkyFire
    Photon Flash
    Browse2Go
    iSwifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • Safari doesn't support iFrames????

I went on the Black and Decker website to register a new tool and I was told I could not because my browser didn't recognize iFrames. I have no idea what iFrames are and why Safari doesn't work.
I did get on the site using FireFox.
Tried a second time with Safari and it opened the registration page, but the content was in a very narrow viewing window with scroll bars (unlike FireFox that filled the entire browser window).
    Something is really funky.

    Hi Derryl S,
I went on the Black and Decker website to register a new tool and I was told I could not because my browser didn't recognize iFrames.
Black and Decker is probably Safari unfriendly ...
Could you register the new tool via Fire Fox ...
If this is a yes, than have fun with the new tool.

  • Getting messages that Safari does not support gmail. I use OS X 10.6.8 with all current software updates. Fix?S X 6.

Keep getting message saying current version of Safari does not support gmail, but I seem to have latest version (5.0.5). Is there an update I need?
Poroblem goes away when I use Chrome.

Several older browser versions and ones that won't be upgraded without
a major system upgrade (a new OS X, if one is supported in hardware)
get similar messages when using Gmail & perhaps other google access.
If you want to experiment a little and the cost is zero, see the iCab browser
that is shareware but runs free with annoying prompt to buy a license, that
can be set to appear as Safari 6 to various web sites including Gmail. I've
tried it, and that does work. The iCab version that I found helpful works in
either PPC or Intel Mac OS X 10.5 ~ 10.7, there is a later version, too.
There is a recent iCab v.5.5 or an older iCab 5.1.1, since you could use
the more recent, I'd suggest that version over the older one which I have.
See http://www.icab.de/dl.php for iCab 5.5 (30.10.2014  or note a direct
DL link to that, here: iCab_5.5_Intel.zip -- either version is 32/64 bit.
Hopefully you can use the additional options without an OS X upgrade
to later system such as Lion. Sometimes an upgrade goes fine, but
there are good reasons to make a fully bootable clone on external HDD.
Then you could revert to a working copy of what you had before upgrade.
PS: If you are seeing two Safari versions in the Application folder, you
could use Get Info on each (separate, highlight one at a time) to find
what one is newest; then put the older one in Trash. Do not delete it yet.
The icon for Safari in the Dock may need to be replaced by dragging
the new Safari into the Dock, after dragging the old icon out of it...
but generally that part should not be necessary if only one Safari is
in the Applications folder. Be sure to not leave an app in the desktop
when it should be found by OS X in the Application folder.
The newer Safari should be in the Applications folder. Is it?
Check the Downloads folder in the Dock, to see where it went.
    Sometimes, the browser's download info will show a history;
you can choose where downloads get stored.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Safari doesn't support WYSIWYG features in forums

Twice now I've had to resort to using Firefox when I wanted to make use of the WYSIWYG editing tools in forum message groups. For instance, if I want to add formatting to a blog in Blogger, or a picture to a message I'm posting in istockphoto, the editing tools to accomplish that simply don't show up in Safari. To give you a better idea of this, in istockphoto when you go to respond to someone's post, you'll find an entire row of useful tools for making life simple. Want to display a photo in your post? Hit the camera icon and add the appropriate image number (not a link.) The image appears directly in the message you're posting. But those tools don't show at all in Safari. Same thing happens in Blogger.
Anyone else familiar with this issue, or have a workaround? I sent feedback to Apple, but it'll probably be forever before a fix is made.
iMac Flat Panel 17 inch   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

This really suxx...! I love Safari and can't use it because it's unable to deal with WYSIWYG editors as in Wordpress, Blogger, Yahoo Mail and so on...!! So I'm forced to use Firefox, which I don't like half as much...but which gets the job done...
That is the only glitch in Safari for me -- but a major one...!
From what I've heard the problem is, that Safari or Webkit respectively is too "strict" and thus the WYSIWYG editor toolbars don't show up...!? I seems that in order to implement such WYSIWYG editors the code has to be tweaked or so and most other non-Webkit browsers seem to allow that kind of behaviour, but Safari does not...!?
Anyway, WYSIWYG editors on the web have become so common that Apple really should look into this subject...or more and more Wordpress etc. users will just (have to) switch to Firefox or Camino or Flock or...

Update Word and/or switch to Pages.
Also what is the time machine? How do I activate it?
It is an automatic backup. It makes backups without you having to remember to do them. To turn on Time Machine, just plug in an external hard drive and say "Yes" when it asks if you want to use it with Time Machine.

  • I am trying to download Microsoft but Safari doesn't support this. What can I do?

I have purchased Microsoft as a download but am unable to do this as not supported by Safari. What can I do to complete this operation?

You cannot download that to the iPad. It is an application for the Mac only and will not work on the iPad - the devices use different operating systems.
You can only download apps from the App Store. These App Store apps are all designed to work on the iPad. There are apps that are compatible with the MS Office suite of apps - Pages, Numbers and Keynote from Apple, Documents to Go, Office 2HD and others can be found in the app store or by using my good friend Google!
