Internet problems over Aiport since 10.4.7 update

Hi,
since my girlfriend updated her iBook G4 and her iMac G5 to Mac OS X 10.4.7 she encounters always the same problem, when she wakes the iBook oder iMac to use them. The computer connects to the our wirless Belkin router. We can see this, because it gets an IP adress from the router and the Aiport symbol shows full signal in the menubar.
However, she can't connect to the Internet, Safari says, that there is no connection to the Internet.
Usually it helps then to switch off/on Airport several times.
This problem occurs on her iBook and on her iMac as well, since they were updated to 10.4.7.
Any ideas how we can get this fixed? Thank you!

Unfortunately nothing of your ideas worked. Additionally I realized that it should really have to do with the Belkin router, rather than with 10.4.7 or the Macs. I assume this, because also my PowerBook G4 with 10.4.6 and her mum's Windows XP running PC encounter the same problems.
All of this started when Telekom Austria, our Internet provider changed our modem, because the old one had a defect. From the outside it look like beeing the complete same model (but of course it will be some newer revision). But I think that it may not be the modem that causes problems, rather the modem/router combination.
So, I say thank you to all of you for the many many answers and good ideas. If you have any more ideas, they're very welcome, but as this is not mac-specific anymore, I don't want you to bother with this any longer
I will contact Belkin support and maybe the internet provider to fix this. If/When fixed, I'll let you know, if others go to encounter same kinda problems.

IPhone 4 not handing-over properly since 4.3.x update

I've noticed a problem since updating from 4.2.1 to 4.3.2 and subsequently 4.3.3, initially I thought it was a network related issue, but have now had confirmed by my provider (Vodafone UK) that they do not know of any problems ...
I travel a lot, often on a train for 3-4 hours a day, often the same routes. Previously I used to be able to maintain a connection for *most* of the journey, the signal would obviously fluctuate between very good and quite poor as I was passed from cell to cell, but would typically go from good, to ok, to poor, I'd then be handed over to the next cell, and go from poor, to ok, to good again as I got closer to the transmitter, I'd usually be able to hold a telephone call seamlessly during this process.
Now the phone seems to try to hold on to the current cell for as long as possible, so I go from good, to ok, to poor, to very poor, to no signal at all (at which point any call I'm on obviously drops out), then *bamn* only now do I get handed to the next cell (which I'm obviously now much closer to that I used to get handed to it) where I suddenly get a good signal again.
Basically instead of signal strength going 4, 3, 2, 2, 3, 4 it now goes 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, 4
I had a very similar issue with an old Nokia phone I had a few years back and after several replacements from Nokia UK, they finally admitted it was a fundemental hardware design problem and replaced my phone with a completely different model. Obviously it is not a hardware issue on my iPhone 4, as I didn't have any issues on previous software versions.
I've tried asking in a local Apple Store, but the replies I get prove that the guys in there obviously know how to add music and which apps are 'cool', but very little about the fundemental working of cellular telecomms, and they keep insisting that IOS version 4.3.3 must be better than 4.2.1 at everything because it is newer?!

Problems with AirPort since 10.4.11 update

Since I installed the 10.4.11 update the AirPort started to drop connection every now and then, and I have to enable it again manually.
Any known solution to this? Any one having the same problem?

I have the same problem. I have an iBook G4 running OSX10.4.11. It’s about 3.5 years old. Using a LinkMAX HSA300A-2 from Earthlink that is probably 6-7 years old.
Internet connection (Earthlink ISP via Airport Express) started randomly disconnecting even though the modem was working normally and I had a green light on AE. At first it would hang up for a few minutes, then 5-10+ minutes. Now it just doesn’t connect at all. Restarting modem would give me a connection again. Restarting Airport does not usually give me a connection. The message is that I'm not connected to the internet. At the same time this was going on, I could connect fine with my Windows XP computer via AE – no problems there.
I gave up on the Airport and plugged Ethernet directly to the computer. That seemed to work, tested it for a couple of days. Then I restarted the Airport (not reset), connection worked for maybe 30 minutes and then stopped again. When I tried to reconnect the Ethernet, I couldn’t get on the internet at all. Had to shut down the computer and restart twice to get a connection. I reset the AE, worked for about 1 hour and then didn’t work anymore. Reset modem and it will be fine for just 10-15 minutes. I now have the computer plugged directly into the modem via Ethernet and internet works okay but I want to use my wireless again!

IPhone no longer syncs. Says 29GB over capacity since yesterday's OS update

If I deselct "convert songs to 256Kbps" and wait a couple of seconds, then re-enable it, the capacity is correct (6GB free)
If I then sync, towards the end of the sync it suddenyl says I'm 29GB over capacity...but Im definitely not.
Naybody else having the issue since yesterdays OS update?

Problem with Siri since OS 8.2 update

Since update 8.2 I have problems with Siri dictating on the microphone. I can say a maximum of 5-10 words before it cuts out. Using siri on an older OS version on my iPad I don't have any problems. Can anybody help?

thank you for your reply. as mentioned it's a problem since the last update and workes on my other Apple devices. I have been using Siri since it first came out.

Problem recording Audio since 10.5.7 update

Hi,
I have a MBP Late 2008 and a Mackie Spike XD-2 sound card (used with USB), Garageband 4.1.2 and Logic pro 8.0.2
However since the update, every time I record audio with the Mackie, all audio guitar and vocals is distorted, crackly and almost electronic sounding.
I have tried it through Garage band and Logic pro 8.0.2. and both have the same effect.
I was able to record fine on 10.5.6 and I know that there is nothing wrong with the sound card as it works on another macbook running a lower OS prior to 10.5.7.
I haven't got time machine running. I do have an external HD for my PC but when I connected it to my mac it said that I would have to re-format it which I am unable to do due to the large amount of windows documents on it.
I am really unsure whet to do. Can you roll back to 10.5.6 by re-installing it? or if I re-install my original OS and update to 10.5.6 will it remove all of my data and programs.
Please help, I'l tearing my hair out here and really need to get my recording done.

No jus joking but really they must have some liability for ensuring the compatibility of 3rd party devices that were compatible in previous versions of Mac os x.
They cannot insure that each and every piece of hardware in the world is supported by every update. It's up to the user to properly vet the updates. The best way is to clone the OS and update the clone and see what works and what does not work.
I mean mackie doesn't write the software?
They don't? Somebody does. Maybe that's the problem.

Speaker problems in calls since OS 5,01 update

Since updating to IOS 5.01 I have intermittent speaker issues in calls, I can hear the caller, but they cannot hear me. Any suggestions?

I have tried all this and this is definately not a hardware problem as my microphone works for all other applications e.g. Skype. Therefore this must be an IOS 5 software issue affecting telephone microphone function. Any suggestions?

IPad problem with safari since 8.0.2 update

SInce I installed 8.0.2 update of IOS8 safari doesn.t work. I can't search nor getting an htttp address in the safari web browser. Is somebody had same bug after the same update of his Ipad?

Have you tried another web browser just to make sure at you can connect to the Internet or can you successfully use other apps like mail, that rely and the Internet? I believe that the Chrome Web Browser is free if you want to try another browser.
If you can't connect to the Internet at all, did you try rebooting your router? Unplug it f about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.
DId you try clearing Safari, closing the app and reset the iPad?
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data.
In order to close Safari, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the Safari app and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
IF none of that works, you should provide some details because we could back and forth for quite a while just taking shots in the dark

Problems with homesharing since the last 2 updates (4.2 & 4.21)

I've been having a problem where I'm playing movies or tv shows from my iTunes library through homesharing and my ATV(2) will get "kicked off homesharing". The movie/tv show just stops abruptly and ATV goes back to the main menu and stating that it can not find my iTunes library. This occurs at random times as far as I can tell. I can get it to work again if I turn off, then back on homesharing through iTunes on my Mac. I'm not sure if this is an ATV issue or an iTunes issue (iTunes is ver. 10.2.1). Never had this problem before the updates.

I installed this update on September 26, 2014 along with Safari version 7.1. Since then I have trouble downloading content from Netflix and/or get an error saying Apple can't contact the server, and/or poor quality video. What can I do?

Has anyone else had a problem launching GoToMyPC since Firefox 10.1 update?

Never had a problem accessing GoToMyPC before Sunday's 10.1 update push. EVER. Now I cannot access it via website or separate downloadable exe. Can't start it from website from IE or Chrome either.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you have tried ALL the troubleshooting steps recommended and you still have the issue, then there's nothing else you can do. Bring the phone in to Apple for evaluation and probable replacement.

Startup problem since 5/07 security update

I've been having serious problems with startup since the last security update. Startup hangs at the first gray screen or the while screen with the Apple logo. Sometimes multiple restarts get me to the login screen. Safe mode gets me there as well, but the next time I log in the same problem occurs. I have cleaned caches, deleted extensions, deleted fonts, used several shareware programs to clean up my startup files.
Yesterday, when I booted up, a small camera appeared mid-screen with a face alternating with a question mark. The camera blinks back and forth for a long time. Once startup made it to the login screen, but I didn't want to login, since I didn't know what it was. Today I tried to login again. The camera is still there--no surprise--but this time startup is stalled at the gray screen and the fans starts up and runs with no progress.
Any ideas? My iMac has worked perfectly until I did the last security update. I am pretty careful about downloads or opening any unknown files, so I'd be surprised if I have a virus. Others in my family use the iMac, but they're pretty saavy about viruses.
I'm about to reinstall OSX, but want to see if anyone has run into this and found a way around.

Begin troubleshooting with"
Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior

Internet problems continued

So, all my internet problems I have been having over the past 7 months, I think I may have found the fault. Since moving to my new home, I have had constant problems with the internet being super fast (7/8 meg), and then bottoming out to snails paced speeds (100K/1meg), for no reason. It will then creep back up only to happen again without warning.
Calls to support are useless and I have stopped doing this as I end up in the phone for 30/40 mins to be told the same thing again and again.
The forum moderators here are good (I'm going to email them now) and although slow sometimes (not complaining, would rather wait then speak to these guys then a bod in India) they know their beans and try as much as they can to sort you out. I have three different routers and an engineer visit because of these guys.
Some of you guys are helpful too!
But, one thing that I didn't mention to anyone, as I didn't think it mattered, was I've never had a land line connected. I recently bought one and when connected, the line is really crackly and whenever I call or people call me, my router disconnects from the net, syncs at a low speed and the noise margin goes through the roof. I'm sure that means there is something wrong with my line, as never had this noise at my old place.
It would be great if someone could confirm this as I have tried everything.

The first thing to look for ... is a crackly noisy line.
That's what the quiet line test is for .....
If you'd have read the posts recommended to you, you'd have realised that long ago.....
The words... knockin... and nobody in ..... spring to mind.
The bad line is the cause, deffo.

Syncing problem over cloud for all my devices

I have severe syncing problems over the cloud with all iWorks apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) across ALL my devices (iMac, MacBook, iPad2, IPhone4) and even on web: It JUST DOESN'T WORK!!!
Internet works perfectly, Docs sync is set to ON in every device, but since 6 October 2012, syncing was stoped for unknonw reasons.
I tried to find someone to contact for by email, but it was impossible. So I ended up here ...
Can help someone?

For each device, backup first, then on the device use Settings > General > Software Update. Each one still has to download the update individually, but they are smaller files so should download more reliably.
