Internet problems with Parallels.

Windows 7 shows that I have an active Internet connection, but I get the error "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource is not responding." My network settings for Parallels are "shared" and I've installed Parallels Tools.
I'm running the trial version of Parallels to see if it's worth buying. The internet worked just fine the first couple of days, but suddenly it won't load any webpages or even show my shared folders. I uninstalled and reinstalled Parallels but that didn't fix it either. I have no problems with my connection on the Mac side.
Any thoughts?

On Mac OS X navigate to Applications>Utilities and open terminal, then type line for line in the following.
$ su -
Password:
# echo > /Library/Parallels/.parallels_dhcp_leases
# killall -HUP pvsnatd
let us know if it worked

  • Internet problems with iChat

    Hi,
i opened the Ports 1024-65584 for iChat in my router's configuration two days ago. And now i have problems with my internet connection.
The connection is available, obviously, but I can't use iChat. Everytime I open iChat I can't open websites any more, without an error message.
When I close iChat and restart my MacBook everything's fine, until I open iChat again ...
I'm using DHCP in the network configuration, that can't be the reason for my problem because it worked for month (with my old iBook an my new MacBook). And it still works with my iBook, but not with the MacBook.
I hope you understand my problem and my german english:)

I seems that the problem has been in the router configuration …

  • Internet Problems with only 1 Website

    Hi All-
I just got my internet working on my computer but I am having issues with Myspace.com
Everytime I try to use this website Safari closes unexpectatly. JUST with this website. Does anyone know why this might be happening?
Please help, its a pain and I am addicted to this site and need to use it regularly.
    Thanks

I have no problems with myspace.com and Safari. Make sure you are using the latest version and upgrade as required. You can also try creating a new account on your computer and see if that account has problems as well. If not, use the cammand in the Safari menu to reinitialize Safari and that should get you going again. If you have problems in the other account, you should probably run disk utility to see if you have a disk problem - repair premissions as well, it can't hurt.

  • Wee Problem with Parallels Desktop and the Westmere Mac Pros

Just got my new Westmere 8-Core Mac Pro last Friday, and spent the last four days in agony.
I used Migration Assistant to transfer over my accounts from my old Mac Pro, but it crashed hard -- so hard that I had to reformat the hard drive and do a clean install of the system. So I decided to do a clean install of all of my programs as well, and the Westmere crashed on the Parallels Desktop installation. And, again, it crashed so hard that I had to reformat the hard drive and do a clean install of everything all over again.
Today, I read a review of the Westmere Mac Pros in Macworld (http://www.macworld.com/article/153704/2010/08/quad8_core_macpro_2010.html?lsrc=top2), and learned:
We ran into a problem running Parallels on the Westmere-based Mac Pros, so we could not complete the Speedmark 6 suite of tests. When booted into 64-bit mode (as the new Mac Pros do by default) the systems would crash with Parallels installed. Booting into 32-bit mode would allow the systems to start up, but we still couldn’t use Parallels. We eventually tried a complete wipe and reinstall from the Mac Pro’s systems disc and downloaded the very latest version of Parallels to eliminate any other potential problems, and had the same issue. Apple and Parallels are aware of the problem and assure me that Parallels is working diligently on a fix. The application worked just fine on the new quad-core Mac Pro with the Nehalem processor.
Hoped I saved somebody some time.

    Hi akapod,
Looks like they may have the fix out.
Mac Pro (Mid 2010): Kernel panic when installing or restarting Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac
Please let me know if it's available and fixes it.

  • Internet Problem with Time Capsule (Wi-Fi) and AT&T U-verse Motorola NVG589 (Bridge Mode)

I'm having a problem with my Internet connection. For some unknown reason it keeps cutting out every 5 min for about 5 seconds. The wi-fi signal doesn't drop or anything like that, just the internet connection stops working for a little bit and then its fine again (pages don't load, etc).
    Here is my current set-up:
    1. AT&T Motorola NVG589 - set to bridge mode as per instructions here http://www.dslreports.com/faq/17734 (followed instructions step by step)
    2. Apple Time Capsule (latest model 2TB)
    3. Motorola is connected to the Time Capsule through an ethernet cable.
I tried contacting AT&T and they just sent me a new Motorola router, I installed it, put it in bridge mode and still the same thing is happening.
I am thinking maybe there is some problem in settings or something. Airport Utility is showing everything in "green", no problems there.
Please let me know if anyone can help.

Ok, here is an update on how I decided to deal with the problem. I will include all of my troubleshooting step by step for easy reference.
    1. At first I put the NVG589 into Bridge Mode and used the TC as the main wireless router. This didn't work as my connection kept dropping for no apparent reason.
    2. Second, I tried to put the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode and connect it directly to NVG589. This didn't work as my connection would still lag out for 5 seconds about every 5 minutes.
    3. Third, I bought an ASUS RT-AC87U Wireless AC2400 Dual-band Gigabit Router to try and substitute the TC in previous steps and see if it helps. Same problem persisted when I put the NVG589 into Bridge Mode and RT-AC87U as the main router as well as RT-AC87U into bridge mode and NVG589 as the main router. The problem was exactly the same as when I tried using TC initially so my conclusion was this is NVG589's fault of being not compatible with other wireless routers.
    4. I looked around everywhere and came up with the only feasible solution possible (for me at least):
Currently I use NVG589 as my main wireless router. I works pretty well and even though it doesn't have the specs of TC or the ASUS router my WI-FI connection is pretty fast and stable. In order to have Time Machine wireless backups, I purchased a Western Digital My Cloud Drive that is connected directly to the NVG589. Everything seems to sync and work well together.
I know this is not the ideal solution most people are looking for. But it works for me. Patiently waiting for AT&T to start offering NVG599 (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28967809-NEW-U-verse-Gateway-Motorola-NVG599-WI RELESS-AC-AC1600) in my area. Once I get my hands on it will report back on how it will react to all the steps above and hopefully work well with Time Capsule.
Shoot me any questions you might have. Hope this was helpful for some of you.

  • Intermittent internet problems with Time Capsule

    Hi
I have the following set up for internet in the UK. TalkTalk broadband (8 meg) through BT landline - Draytek Vigor 120 ADSL Ethernet Modem - Time Capsule - Wireless n to Macs.
I am experiencing two problems, one that a couple of times a day the Time Capsule starts flashing orange and in Airport Utility the problem generally appears to be with the PPPoE server. Sometimes the issue spontaneously resolves itself within a couple of minutes. Other times I have to restart both the TC and the modem and then I get a green light and everything works again. I was experiencing similar problems with a previous modem and specifically bought the Draytek modem which translates the PPPoA service from TalkTalk to PPPoE which the TC prefers (as i understand it), but still I am experiencing the same issue.
The second issue I am experiencing, which is a common experience, occurring maybe half the time I use the internet is that I need to reload web pages a lot to get them to load. So I might click on eBay say and the page doesn't seem to want to load at all, so I either cancel the loading or try clicking again on the bookmark again (or a link) and if i'm lucky it will then load quickly. If not I will have to try again. This seems to happen more with some websites than others, and emptying the cache seems to help, but the problem soon re-emerges.
I am not sure if these two issues are interrelated, but it all adds up to a fairly frustrating online experience. I am not sure whether the issue is with the ISP, the modem, the TC, or some combination of these. I experience the same problems regardless of which Mac I am using (there are three in the house) and which browser, so I am presuming that the issue is not with the Macs, but why clearing the cache would help I am not sure.
I would be grateful for any help in resolving these issues
    Thanks
    Nick

    Hi Nick,
No idea on the TC, but anyway you can elimunate it in the setup for a test?

  • Internet Problem With Time Capsule

Hello, I am having a slight problem with A 4th Gen time capsule.. Relatively simple. The time capsule and Airport utility both state that Everything is fine, That IP addresses are valid etc. My computer (Mac OS X 10.7.1) can connect to the Network just fine, there is however, no internet. I appreciate any help.
    iTeknogeek

There can be a number of reasons for this to happen.
    But we need more info.
What kind of broadband do you use? How is it connected to the TC? Is the TC setup as the main router or in bridge? Can you get internet by plugging directly into whatever modem or router you have?
An actual model number of the modem can help us determine the issue.
For instance cable internet a common issue is people swap items around without powering down the cable modem.. this is often necessary to allow it to accept a new MAC address for a connection.
As a general rule.. shut down everything.. and start up in order.. modem.. router.. TC.. (if different to router).. computers.

  • Will there be any problems with Parallels Program if I upgrade to Maverick OS?

I have OS 10.7.5 on my intel iMac desktop and MacBook Air with Parallels 9.0.2 running Windows XP.  Will there be any problems if I upgrade to Maverick OS? Do I have to do anything special because of the Parallels side when I upgrade?

You shouldn't have any issues, since Parallels v9 is the current version.  You might want to visit the Parallels support forums to see if users there are aware of any issues.  I know I upgraded my MBP from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and I had no issues with my Parallels v8.  A short while after the update to Mavericks, I did upgrade my Parallels to v9, but I wasn't really having any problems on v8 either.

  • I am having internet problems with my laptop

    Hi all,
I am having some WIFI problems lately. my wireless internet keeps failing while i am playing online. its for like a 5-15 seconds disconnect. The problem isn't on my router or modem because my friend is not disconnecting.
I tried to update my driver but i don't know which one to pick because there are like 6 drivers.
The laptop i use is a Msi gp60 2pe leopard.

Hi Vliegbanaan, I am experiencing the exact same difficulties with the exact same laptop!
I'm not sure if it's due to overheating, or the wrong drivers, or what not. Whilst I am playing, say League of Legends, one or twice every couple of games I lose the internet whilst still being connected to the router. It is definitely not a problem with the router as the internet still works on my phone whenever this problem occurs. This problem started occurring around about 2 months ago I should say.
    Please help someone!
If you have a Intel WLAN adapter, install the Intel WLAN driver version 17.0.5.8
    http://download.msi.com/nb_drivers//wl/wlan_intel_7260_17.0.5.8_al00.zip
If you have a AzureWave one, then update the WLAN driver version 2012.4.1022.2013

  • Problems with parallel compression

I'm having some problems utilizing parallel compression on some drums. Here's the setup:
-9 tracks of audio (mixed, EQ'ed, etc. ) outputting to a Bus, which serves as the master drum fader
-master drum fader has very light EQ and compression, and a limiter
-audio tracks also have a (post-fader) send going to a separate bus for parallel compression
-parallel comp bus is heavily compressed, slightly EQ'ed
-plugins used are all Logic's: limiter, compressor, channel EQ
The problem is that as I increase the parallel fader, the bass drum loses it's punch. It almost sounds like some kind of phase cancellation. The snare seems to lose a little presence as well. The cymbals, on the other hand, sound great. So if I leave the parallel fader very low, I'm not getting the compression I want out of the cymbals. Any ideas?
I'm still pretty new to mixing, and definitely to parallel compression, so it seems likely a problem with my plugin settings. I got some advice from a friend of mine, and tweaked a little from there, but here are the settings of the compressor on the parallel bus:
    Threshold: -17 dB
    Ratio: 10:1
    Attack: 10 ms
    Release: 11 ms
    Knee: 0.0
    Peak Mode
    Thanks for your help.

I guess I'm just a little stuck on the usual parameters (ratio, threshold, attack/release, etc.), though I realize the Warmer doesn't operate in quite the same way.
Right. It is a bit confusing and there are only some controls which have usual plug-in equivalents. Look at VM as being a limiter, which in turn has an infinite ratio. The compression element of VM (as I understand it) affects the amount of compression underneath the ceiling. So the knee control affects that compression depth, rather than the compression curve, related to threshold, as seen in conventional compressors, like a sub threshold adjustment.
the knee sets the amount of compression applied to signals leading up to the ceiling, right?
Exactly. The ceiling, you would think, is the limiter ceiling for output a bit like Logic's adaptive limiter output. It is really a way of moving the output level to something other than 0 dbFS, and works with the saturation settings on the VM's back panel, and the way it handles the input side of VM. So I usually leave the ceiling at zero (as it's not being used for mastering) and change the drive, knee and saturation to taste. So the metering behavior you see, to me makes sense. Compare with pre and post, and adjust the drive, and it is more visually in step. I think it's more like a threshold than anything else. The knee is also affecting VM's make up gain, which you can balance with the drive knob to get the right amount of coloration.
Drive is, as you say, just an input level.
I always have FAT on. When used on drums, I change the rear saturation to less high and bass, more mid. I also change the freq. settings to be more active in the low mids, but this changes for each kit. I usually have brick wall and Auto (for release, not auto gain) on, with release set at X1.
The Mix control is mysterious to me. You would think that it works so that you can change the mix between an unprocessed input to the VM output and therefore use it on a drum submix without a separate bus for parallel compression, but it sounds different to me (and much better) when I use it on a bus set to 100%, so that's what I do, with some EQ before VM.

  • Problems with Parallels and Yosemite

after upgrading to yosemite windows 7 does not work any more with parallels 10. I get a message that there is no access to harddisk 0 and that no operating system is installed in this virtual machine. The windows 7 VM file then shrinks to  4MB. Any ideas? Thank's

I upgraded from Mavericks. When opening Parallels and askong  for details of the VM , I get told that the WIN 7 VM has a size of 4 MB. When trying to restore the VM with Time Machine, I find a WIN7.PVM file with 700MB. When TM copies the file, it tells me that 94GB are copied. The copying process than is stopped with an error message, that some files could not be read or written. Thus, restoring the VM with Time Machine has not worked. I then tried to restore the whole system with TM. Restoring finished successful, and the size of the VM was again 700 MB. When opening the VM via Parallels, same mess again: no access to harddrive 0 due to either no connection or user rights. Parallels tells me that the VM size is 4 MB.

  • Internet problem with New Airport Extreme base and new Macbook Pro

So I bought a Airport Extreme base station with my new Macbook pro.
My desktop system uses a DSL modem which is connected to my computer via an ethernet cable. It works flawless. I can also unhook the hard ethernet connection from the desktop and connect it to the Macbook Pro with no problems.
I then connected the ethernet cable from the DSL router to the WAN port on the Airport Base.
I have no problem gettiing the Macbook pro to set itself up on the Airport Network. I can NOT, though, access the internet. I even tried to type in the IP address for the DSL modem while connected to Airport base and can not connect to modem. Does anyone have any advice? Is there a bridging function in the Airport Base that has to be activated?
Another question. If I replace my current DSL Router with a wireless router, do I even need the airport base if all I want to do it connect to the internet with the laptop?
    Thanks,
    Danny

Make sure you perform a complete power recycle when switching network components.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
    - Power-off the DSL modem & AEBS. (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    - Power-on the DSL modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
If that doesn't resolve the problem, and your DSL ISP requires PPPoE for connectivity, you will need to set that up on your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) as follows:
Connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then, using the AirPort Admin Utility, check these settings:
    Internet tab
    - Connect Using: PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
    - Account Name: <ISP account name>
    - Change password: <ISP password>
    - Always stay connected (checked)
    - WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
Another question. If I replace my current DSL Router with a wireless router, do I even need the airport base if all I want to do it connect to the internet with the laptop?
No, the AEBS will no longer be required.

  • Weird internet problem with AE

I installed airport express a few days ago, everything works fine. But I am having trouble connecting to a few internet sites using the wireless network, including www.apple.com and microsoft.com. It stalls while it is looking up for images, while if i'm connected on a cable to my dsl modem everything works perfectly. What baffles me the most is that other sites with large pictures display quickly on the wireless connection. Does this sound familiar?
    Yours,
    Arthur

Yes, this randomly happens to some people for reasons not completely clear.
One thing you can try - on the Mac, open System Preferences->Network->Airport->TCP/IP tab. In the DNS field, type in the IP address 10.0.1.1 (ie the IP address of the Airport Express). No guarantees, but this sometimes solves the problem.

  • Few "minor" problems with Parallels, please help...

After successfully uninstalling Bootcamp and Windows XP, I bought Parallels for Mac and did okay on a clean install. The only problem is, everytime I plug in "ANY" USB device, I get a message (something to the effect) "Device being used by another process". When I attempt to "eject" that device, I still get that same message. Is there ANYTHING I can try??? I was hoping to either connect a flash drive with music and documents, or my 100 gig external USB hard drive, but Windows XP via Parallels does not recognize any external devices. By the way, I even went as far as installing the Mac drivers that Bootcamp requires. That did help with a few other "devices" (such as PCI devices, etc), but I cannot get Windows to recognize any other USB devices.
Your help, opinions and advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks
    Lunceford

Since Parallels is not an Apple product, you'll get a better response by posting your question on the Parallels discussion boards rather than an Apple forum that focuses on Mac/Windows compatibility:

  • Problem with Parallels

So as part of my grad program, I have to play SIMCITY classic, which is provided for free online (I know...I think it's pretty ridiculous too!). I only own a macbook, so I recently purchased parallels and a copy of windows xp pro. SIMCITY online is only able to be played on a PC, so I thought this would fix the problem. However, now when I try to play it, it still doesn't work. It gets me past the screen that would normally tell me it's not compatible with Mac's, but then it just sits there with a blank screen. Any ideas of how I can make this work?

Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't very clear in my original post. I'm not playing the game from a disk. It's played online. If you search for Simcity Classic Online, you can find the site. I'm pretty sure I can't post URL's here. So basically, its played right in firefox, or IE, or whatever browser I'm using. It just seems like there is something about the Mac that keeps it from working.
