Internet radio no longer connects

I have 1.67 GHz Power PC G4 Laptop running OS 10.5.8. (Yeah it's old). The latest iTunes version it can run is 10.6.3. I have been using the internet radio for as many years as I've had this laptop. Three days ago, when I clicked on any of the radio streams I got this message:
An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your internet connection, or try again later.
My other laptops access the service fine. And on this laptop, I can access everything else via my connection: Mail, Safari, etc. There doesn't seem to be any problem with my internet connection at all. The computer is authorized for iTunes, so that's not the problem.
In the Preferences, I have Radio checked, there are no Parental Controls.
In System Preferences, the Network Connection is active (obviously), the Firewall is set to Allow All Incoming Connections.
Can't figure out what else to check.

deSIGN:  It's unlikely Apple will ever see your post or request.  If they routinely browse this forum for customer response there is no indication of it.  In fact it seems Apple never discusses issues unless it something truly major. I mean hit  newspaper headlines "major" and not simply a handful of people who are using software versions considered out of date (and yes, from my experience I bet if you went to an Apple Store and asked them about it they would look puzzled at you not updating to iTunes 11, and at running an old computer if your hardware prevents you from updating).  Don't get me wrong, I use even older software and hardware than most of you.  I just come to accept the fact that Apple eventually stops supporting things and I find workarounds or other solutions, or simply live with it.
For that matter this could be like when the weather widget stopped working for older OSX versions a few years ago.  It stopped working for about a month or two, then it suddenly started working again.  No explanation for either change.  It still works today even for my OSX version dating from 2005.  If you're lucky the same thing may happen for the stream server.  It never came back for my iTunes version after it disappeared 4 years ago and I simply made a playlist of the few stations to which I listen and just go on using iTunes 7.5.  iTunes Store stopped working too, so I don't buy from the iTunes Store.  Easy.

  • Internet radio no longer works on E1000 network

My E1000 no longer works with my Livio Internet Radio although it worked perfectly for many months and my Mac Book continues to work perfectly accessing the Internet. The third time I called Cisco tech support  they told me the E1000 was discontinued and no longer supported (and I should just buy a new one!), but that there was a firmware update (although I only bought it earlier this year)!  I tried to download the update and got a warning "This software can destroy your computer. Do you still want to download?"  3 different customer service people assured me they were sending the program driver update to me, but nothing has ever been received!  I have gotten conflicting online advice on what channel I should use. It is currently on Chan. 11, which  the Livio Radio  people say I should change to 10 or 5 but I cannot find any screen under "Wireless" that allows changing the channel!  My screens look entirely different than on the Cisco help pages. Cisco advice says to use 6 or 11 so I'm at a loss here. When I move the Livio radio closer to the E1000 it works, but it worked in the next room without problems before, for many months. When I reviewed the Livio at my publication it worked perfectly with no such problems:  http://www.audaud.com/article.php?ArticleID=6711
Cisco's tech support even worse than Adobe's - absolutely Kafkaesque.  I've spent many hours on this so far now. What is going on?

Open the setup page of the router. Go to the wireless tab. Set the configuration view to manual.
Channel width should be on Standard 20MHz. Now you can change the channel to 6 or 11.
Click on Advanced wireless settings sub tab. Change the beacon Interval to 75, RTS threshold to 2307, fragmentation threshold to 2306. See if that works.
Download the latest firmware from Linksys website for your router. Save it on your computer. Open the setup page of the router. Go to Administration tab and click on firmware upgrade sub tab. Browse the firmware file that you have downloaded and upgrade it on your router.

  • Client (an internet radio) will not automatically connect

Trying to install an internet radio Sagecom RM 50 on my intel mac lion with a time capsule. It will not connect automatically. I can connect using a pin and inputting the MAC, but when turning the radio off , it will not reconnect automatically. The radio works perfect on my office system with a thompson router and windows xp. Any ideas?

Sorry I haven't fully explained. First time I have joined a forum for assistance.
The Sagemcom RM50 is a wireless only internet radio and should connect automatically to your network after it scans for available networks and you input the encryption key. It works as advertised with my work router and windows xp system. I checked it at work for troubleshooting only to ensure that there was not a problem with the radio.
I want to use this at home, but it does not connect automatically with my TC and imac. It recognizes both my normal and guest networks. I am able to input the encryption key with no faults, but it just continues attempting to connect with no error codes. The only way I have been able to connect is by "add wireless client" manually from the airport utility. This is where there is an option to use a PIN. The PIN is generated from the radio itself. The radio MAC address is then found and the connection established with no further problems. (There is also an option for "connect on first attempt" but this does not work.) According to the airport utility documentation after you have added a wireless client, it should reconnect without a password.
The problem is that when you turn the radion off and back on the radio will not automatically reconnect.
We have 6 or 7 other  wi-fi devises (both apple and non-apple) that have never given this sort of problem.
It appears that the TC or OS is not saving or recognizing the radio MAC address when you turn it on. It just continues attempting to connect. I'm pretty certain at this point there is something blocking the wireless connection attempt and that a setting needs to be revised to allow the radio to connect and an IP address provided.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Where did the current song listing go for iTunes Internet Radio?

I listen to internet radio on iTunes all the time, and I always loved being able to check the title and artist of whatever song was playing.  I just upgraded my iTunes to 11.1.3(8) and now the internet radio no longer shows me the title & artist of the current song.  Is there a way get that feature back?

Thank you Frederick! Now, a further question: for example under classic rock it shows 383 threads but in the list there are only 11 showing up. The stations I like to listen to are missing. Any light to shed? Thanks, Mark

  • I can no longer connect to itunes store ot internet radio

I can no longer connect to the itunes store or internet radio.  Internet connection is OK.  Everything used to work just fine.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes a couple of times with no luck.  Itunes itself works fine.  My download speed is around 20 Mbps.  Why would Itunes radio suddenly be inaccessible?

Maybe check you are logged into your Apple ID.

  • Many of the internet radio stations that I usually listen to are no longer working. When I click on them, they either get stuck in connecting or just jump to the next station below. What gives?

Same thing here. Always listened to 96.9 The Eagle but not anymore. Skipped to the next station down.
This is one of many. What's going on?
    Maybe Apple can tell us!!!!

  • I can no longer connect to the internet from any other device.

Having successfully upgraded to OS X Mavericks from Snow Leopard I can now no longer connect to the internet from  any other device.  I have an iPhone 4S, a Galaxy Tab, and an internet radio, none of which can connect to the internet since the upgrade.  They connect to my BT Home Hub without a hitch, it’s just that they do not connect at all to any website.  All was fine before the update.
The upgrade was to my iMac and that’s fine, no connection or surfing issues.

  • Can no longer connect to internet on my iTouch

I have had my iTouch for just over a year and had no problems connecting to the internet at home and elsewhere. I had to purchase a new router recently and now my Touch no longer connects. It finds the network with no problem but when I enter my password it still says "unable to join the network..." It works everywhere else just fine and my laptop at home connects to my wi-fi with no problem as well. I have tried to input my network under "Other networks" with no success either. My settings and password are the same as before but it still won't connect. Has anyone else had this problem and any ideas on how to fix it? I went to the Apple store and they said they had no idea why it no longer connects. Thanks for any help you can send me.

Are you running WEP encryption? Chances are the new router interprets your password in a form that the touch can't deal with. You can either using the hex code in place of the password you created or reset your encryption to WPA2-psk and create a new 10-12 character password.
If you don't want to change encryption, you can reconfigure your WEP passwords - 5 characters only with 48bit or 13 characters only with 128 bit.

  • ITunes no longer connects to many of the radio stations that it used to

I recently patched the new upgrade version of iTunes. I decided to wait this long so they could work out some of the bugs first. Apparently it still has some. And this post applys to both the Mac and Windows versions.
I used to enjoy listening to the di.fm Chillout station in the Ambient section of iTunes. After I patch this new upgraded version of iTunes it will no longer connect to the station. This by no means is hindering me from listening to my station, but it is taking away the convenience of doing it all through iTunes. The new version also cut off many other radio stations as well (unable to connect).
Andbody have a clue if Apple is ever going to fix this?

    Some things to try:
    • try connecting via ethernet
    • turn Airport off and then back on, or go to System Preferences -> Network and select Renew DHCP Lease
    • from System Preferences, create a new network location
    • turn the router and/ or modem off, wait 15 seconds, turn them back on again
    • zap the PRAM:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    • check and possibly adjust the security settings on the router
See if any of those work for you.

  • My Mac Book Pro suddenly will no longer connect to the Internet at my house. Help?

My Mac Book Pro suddenly will no longer connect to the Internet at my house. My son's MacBook connects just fine. My MacPro connects at work, at Starbucks, etc. just fine, but not at my house. My son's however has no problem whatsoever. I assume that since his computer connects that the router and modem is not the problem. And since my computer connects everywhere but here . . . . it is not a hardware issue. When directly connecting my MacBook Pro to the modem or router the problem was the same. . . no connection. Help?

    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

  • Will no longer connect to the internet

All of a sudden Adobe Digital editions will no longer connect to the internet.  It was fine before last Tuesday. Check internet settings and firewall and nothing helps. Why is it doing this and how can we fix it.  Windows 7 - 64 bit

Did this [[Cannot connect after upgrading Firefox|start after upgrading firefox?]]
Generally if Firefox can't connect, but other applications can, it's a configuration problem with a [[Firewalls|software firewall]], either one you installed yourself, one that was included with other security software, or the built-in Windows Firewall.

  • My ipad will no longer connect to the internet. Everything else does.

My ipad 1 will no longer connect to the internet. Everything else does. and nothing new was done to the ipad. It's running ios 4 and was fine since the day it came out.

    Emma-
In Safari, press on the Bookmarks icon and select History.  Then press on Clear History at the top of that menu, and see it there is any improvement.
If not, try unplugging your WiFi router for a few seconds.  Then reset the iPad's network.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.  You will need to reconnect the iPad to WiFi.

  • Since updating my ipad it will no longer connect to the internet

since i've updated my software on my ipad it will no longer connect to the internet. my husbands iphone will not connect either. my laptop connects immediately and my internet signal is full strength. is there something we are missing?

    Hello dchoffa,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I would start with this troubleshooting from the article named:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your W-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
If the above troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, I would next try the troubleshooting in one of the other sections down toward the bottom that fits your scenario.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • Firefox no longer connects to internet on my mac, and windows machines, after v18. I've tried several solutions from Mozilla support and nothing works. Firefox

Firefox no longer connects to internet on my mac, and windows machines, after v18. I've tried several solutions from Mozilla support and nothing works. Firefox can't even connect to Mozilla for updates. Firefox just sits on the default search page and attempts to connect to websites by typing URLs, or by clicking on the links on the default search page don't work.

    You could try the following:
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.
Let us know if this fixed your problem!
