Internet restrictions for Itouch

I want to buy an itouch but i am not allowed to have internet capabilities of any kind. I have talked to a couple people and know about the Parental Restrictions but i am still uncertain about a point. I understand that the Safari and other related Icons are removed, but what if you use your computer to download an alternate browser such as Browser+? Will it still show up? If so, can it be blocked too?
Also, one of my friends has told me that you can have the Apple store completely disable the WiFi capabilities. Is this possible? I appreciate any comments. Thanks.

You do have to have an iTunes account and valid credit card to purchase anything (including free apps) from the App store. That would certainly limit some people. Anyway, apps are pretty heavily screened in the App Store and are pretty much PG or PG-13.
All of your questions seem to point to a parent trying to figure out how to give their child a device that might expose them to too much of the world at one time. Having raised a couple of boys through the early internet days, I think you are better off with either education or, if you are completely paranoid, a nice MP3 player.

  • WRT54GS Access Restriction for WiFi Connected Devices

    I have the WRT54GS v4 running with the latest Firmware Version: v1.06.3 -- I am attempting to add Access Restrictions for a few MAC addresses and IP addresses (my kids iPod Touch and laptop).   
    I am simply wanting to deny total internet access from 9pm to 7am.   I have gotten it to work but ONLY for computers that are actually plugged into the router (cat 5 internet cables).  All the computers/devices that connect to the router via wifi do not seem to be restricted at all.   I am thinking this is an issue with the router in that it ONLY seems to apply the Access Restriction rules to those devices that are actually directly connected by hardwire.
    Has any one else noticed this issue for WiFi connected devices?  Access Restrictions do not seem to apply to WiFi connected devices.
    Please help -- I would hate to have to buy another router.

    Are you sure you have enter the correct MAC address or IP address? Wired connections use different MAC and IP addresses then wireless connection...

  • Printer klling internet connection for all wifi devices in office

    Hi!
    We bought office jet 8600 pro and connected it to the main office desktop computer through ethernet cable. This main computer is also connected to wifi router.
    All other laptops in office are using wifi router for internet and for printing.
    As soon as we installed new printer it started to conflict with alll wifi devices in office. Basically all laptops and phones loosing internet connection for 2-15 minutes. Usually when somebody from main computer is using printer.
    I read in another thread about similar problem and tried to fix this by checking firmware version of router and making a static ip for printer. I put printer to 192.168.1.250. It didn't work, internet keep going down. As experiment i made a static ip for my own laptop too -192.168.1.50. it didn't work too. Need help. Thank you!

    Sorry. Actually we have 2 routers. First one is working as a connector for ethernet and another one is a wifi router. Printer is connected to the router(connector). Wi-fi router is connected to router(connector) too. 
    If printer is connected to the router(connector) every 5-10 minutes wi-fi for all computers in the office become restricted (without internet access). 
    As soon as you are pulling out the ethernet cable from printer, everything works fine. 
    There are two computers that sharing printer by ethernet cable. Others are using wi-fi connection through  both routers to connect to the printer. Wi-fi printing is working good by the way.

    Is it possible to set simultaneously two unencrypted (Open/No WEP)VLANs/SSIDs in an AP?
    I have an environment where VLAN 10 is "Open/No WEP" for BBSM authentication, but I also need to create a second "Open VLAN" that will have direct access to the Internet, without BBSM authentication for some specific and provisory situations (this VLAN would not be connected to BBSM).
    Are there any restrictions for that? Is it possible to set two or more unencrypted SSIDs or an "Open/No WEP" SSID and a Guest SSID?

    Are the following combination of encryption methods compatible on a single Access Point:
    1. LEAP with Broadcast Key Rotation
    2. LEAP with Cisco WPA (CKIP/CMIC)
    3. LEAP with WPA (TKIP/MIC)
    4. Static WEP using any available Key Slot
    The documentation states that you cannot use Broadcast Key Rotation concurrently with Static WEP, since WEP slots 2 and 3 are used by the rotating broadcast keys. It also states that LEAP/EAP uses slot 4.
    If Broadcast Key Rotation uses slot 1 as the transmit "seed" key, permuted in slots 2 and 3, why can't this static key still be used in slot 1 by a static WEP client?
    Does static WEP preclude the use of any other dynamic WEP encryption/cipher? What other encryption scheme can interoperate with static WEP?

    Sorry, but I'm not clear on what it is you're asking. As long as you can get an Internet connection for your home, you can almost certainly use a WiFi router, of which there are many on the market. Some sort of broadband connection, though, is really necessary for the iPad to be able to use most functions. Consult your local Internet providers for options.
    If that doesn't answer your question, please explain in more detail what it is you are attempting to accomplish.

    You can set up daily time limits for each computer that connects using wireless, but it is not possible to do this when a computer is connecting directly using a wired Ethernet connection.

    Hey folks, 
    I'm new to cisco and have only recently started study for my ccna. In preperation for this i've gotten my hands on a cisco emi 3550-48 port switch so i can play and test some scenario's. 
    Now, I've setup a couple of vlans (200,201 and 202) and i've assigned them to fa0/3, 0/5 a0/7 respectively. i suppose it's irrelevant which ports are assign, they are just the ports i've assigned while typing this. 
    I know the cisco forums are full of people saying the intervlan routing isnt working and it just turns out to be the static route on the router in the end but i have set all that up and i can not get internet access on my vlan networks. The wierd thing is the switch itself can ping the internet no problem. 
    Here is my setup : 
    I've assigned ip addresses as follows :
    vlan 200 - 10.10.200.254/24
    vlan 201 - 10.10.201.254/24
    vlan 202 - 10.10.202.254/24
    I then enabled intervlan routing by issueing "IP ROUTING"
    At this point I configured the VDSL modem/router (zyxel F1000) on IP Address 192.168.1.2/30 and I configured interface fa0/1 with the following commands : 
    interface fa0/1
    no switchport
    ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.252 
    no shutdown
    I then set the default route using : 
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.2
    Finally I configured three static route's on my Zyxel F1000 modem/router to send traffic back to my three vlans using the gateway 192.168.1.1
    As i said above, If I plug into fa 0/3 (vlan 200) and lets say I give myself an ip address of 10.10.200.20, 255.255.255.0 and gateway 10.10.200.254. I can ping the othe vlns and devices on the other vlans no problem but bot for love nor money can i get onto the internet. For clarifications sake my dns is set to 8.8.8.8
    Stranger still is the fact that the switch can ping hostnames and ips on the internet no problem. Has anyone got any ideas what could possibly be wrong?? I'm completely stumped.

    Hey guys,
    Thanks for the speedy replies. I have been trying this for about 2 weeks now and last night after posting this message to the cisco forums I got my hands on an old Sonicwall router. I decided to test the connection using this as I suspected that Zyxel router is buggy. 
    I setup a PPPoE connection on the sonicwall and set that up as my default route matching exactly the ip settings listed above and it worked immediately. 
    I knew the setup I had ran above was right it was just tormenting me that it wouldn't work. Turns out its the piece of crap Zyxek VDSL modem.

    There is no such Trojan or other malware known today that will do that using OS X nor has there ever been one. The most probable explanation is that somebody hacked into your e-mail account on the server, so you should change that password to something stronger right away. If it had come from your Mac then there would almost certainly be copies of those messages in your Sent Mail mailbox.

    To view your work in IE for win users, consider getting

    On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
