Internet sharing no more working after upgrading to 10.5.6

With my early 2008 MacPro, I used to share my internet connection for my old iMacDV 400 (under MacOS 10.3.9).
All the network and sharing settings were fine prior to the upgrade to 10.5.6.
But after upgrading my MacPro to 10.5.6 I am no more able to browse the web from my iMacDV.
I checked on network setting on my iMacDV and thing looks fine, saying that machine is connected.
On the MacPro side, the network and internet sharing settings looks fine also. The firewall log is not showing any rejection of my iMacDV.
Did someone knows if some security fixes in 10.5.6 require to have additional settings in order to be able to share internet connection ?

In fact it seems that the installation of 10.5.6 was not completly done (some reboot were necessary).
I also repair permissions, and things get back to normal, network sharing working fine again.

I'm aware that a number of people seem to be having wireless networking problems after upgrading to 10.5.3. I apologise if this has been covered somewhere else, but after trawling the forum I haven't been able to find any posts which deal with my specific issue. So any suggestions would be gratefully received...
My 24" 2.8GHz Intel iMac (purchased in Feb 2008) is connected to the internet via ethernet cable through a Speedtouch router supplied by my ISP, o2.
This internet connection is shared wirelessly with the other computer in the house, a G4 MDD running 10.3.9. After switching on Internet Sharing within System Preferences on the iMac, the G4 picks up and connects to the network created by the iMac, which is called (My Name)'s iMac.
All very straightforward, and until a few days ago this set up worked perfectly.
Then I decided to upgrade the iMac from 10.5.1 to 10.5.3, using the Combo updater downloaded from the Apple website.
As far as the iMac is concerned, the upgrade went perfectly and I have no problems whatsoever. I can still access the internet without difficulty as before.
The problem is with the G4. It no longer picks up the network from the iMac. The network's name ((My Name)'s iMac) no longer appears in the drop-down list under the Airport icon in the G4's menu bar (although this list does still contain the names of various neighbours' networks, as it did before, so the Airport in the G4 does still seem to be functioning). Internet sharing on the iMac is still switched on, and the Airport icon in its menu bar indicates that it is "transmitting", but the G4 is just not "receiving" any more. As a result, we can't get online on the G4.
I would be very grateful if anyone could shed any light on this problem. If there is any further information I can supply which might help, please ask.

Internet sharing has stopped working after 10.8.2 upgrade

Hi. So, for the past year, I've been receiving WiFi internet on my iMac, and sharing it via ethernet and sometimes FW800. Lately, mostly just ethernet. As of 10.8.2, this has stopped functioning. I have heard many rumors about internet sharing issues in the update, but it seems I am in the extreme minority in terms of sharing internet via ethernet rather than sharing it via WiFi.
For the record, what I have tried so far is, enabling and disabling all options, trashing preferences, creating a second administrator account on the iMac and trying from that one, switching multiple ethernet cables just in case, and even switching to a different wireless network (we have two in my home on different wavelengths). It's always the same: devices recognize that they're connected to the ethernet port on the iMac. The iMac recognizes it's connected to them. They can obtain their own IP addresses through DHCP, but they cannot, under any circumstances, actually connect to the internet.
Please help! I'm tearing my hair out over here, as this was crucial to my setup. Updates shouldn't work this way.

As with other situations where a window is not visible, it is likely just off-screen where you can't see it. If your main "Final Cut Pro" window becomes inactive (close, minimize, and zoom buttons turn grey) when you attempt to open the "Background Tasks" window, this indicates that the window is definitely opened, it's just offscreen somewhere.
You can solve this problem by forcing FCPX to gather up all of its windows without having to delete your preferences:
1. Attempt to open the Background Tasks window in FCPX,
2. Switch to System Preferences->Displays and change your display resolution,
3. Switch back to FCPX and verify that you now have your missing window back,
4. Switch back to System Preferences and change your resolution back to its previous setting (likely the "Best for display" radio button).

Internet conection (3G) not working after upgrading to iOS 6.0.1

After upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS 6.0.1 my internet connection stopped working, not even the 'edge' signal is working. Can I downgrade to iOS 6.0 in iTunes? If I restore the iPhone in iTunes it will go to the older version of iOS (factory default)?

Have you tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?
What about basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide which is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new)?
Consider 6.0.1 has been out for several weeks, it's highly unlikely the issue is with 6.0.1 and more likely it is the device, the SIM, the carrier, or the network.

Lumia 920: Internet Sharing no longer works after...

I have a Lumia 920 that's a developer build that was provided at Microsoft Build. After the latest OS update, I am no longer able to start Internet Sharing. I receive a notification that I need to upgrade to a plan that supports mobile hotspot. I am already on a plan with T-Mobile that supports mobile hotspots. I confirmed this with a T-Mobile rep and they suggested I contact Nokia.

File sharing no longer works after upgrading from 10.3.9 to Leopard

I'm trying to do file sharing on my PowerMac G5 with my MacBook Pro. The problem is when I try to connect to the G5 I get no response.
Powermac G5 was just upgraded from 10.3.9 to Leopard 10.5.6 (clean install, then used Migration Assistant to copy over files). File sharing worked fine on 10.3.9 until I upgraded the G5 to Leopard (the MBP has had Leopard for several months).
MacBook Pro is running 10.5.4.
From the Finder I select Go->Connect to Server. I select "browse", and the window that opens shows my G5 in the list (it's the only one). I double-click on my G5 and near the top of the window it shows "Connecting..." with the little spinner at the bottom right of the window, but that is as far as it gets. Just no response after that.
I tried to Ping the G5 but got no response.
At first I was trying this wirelessly through my Zoom DSL modem, but to troubleshoot I hooked up the two computers directly with an Ethernet cable but got the same result. No response from the G5.
I have File Sharing turned on in the G5's System Preferences. All 5 users have as least their write box shared. I've even set up a separate shared folder in one account.
Please, if you have any ideas please let me know. I'm stuck.

Wow. 64 views and not a single reply. I found a workaround, but I can't explain it so I'm going to keep this question unanswered for now.
I had the firewall on the G5 set to "allow only essential services", and file sharing was listed but still not working. However, if I change the firewall on the G5 to "Set access for specific services and applications" file sharing would work. I could sit there and toggle back and forth between the two settings and watch file sharing alternately work and then fail depending on the setting.
Weird.

VirtualBox Shared Folders not working after upgrade

I'm running Arch Linux as a guest OS in VirtualBox. After yesterday's upgrades of linux to 3.11.1-1 and virtualbox-guest-modules to 4.2.18-3, the shared folder functionality seems to be seriously borked.
The vboxsf module itself loads fine, and produces no kernel messages except the standard hello :

Mounting a shared directory with mount.vboxsf and mount -t vboxsf results in a success. However, accessing the mount ends in the CPU usage spiking to 100% and nothing happening. Furthermore, the following line appears in /etc/mtab :

Removing and adding the shared folder from the machine settings, sadly, does not work. I'm running VirtualBox 4.2.18 on the host machine.
Has anybody had this issue after the update? Thanks in advance.

Problem:
ls hangs when run in a shared folder.
Yesterday I updated Arch Linux (through pacman), halted, updated Virtual Box to 4.2.18, and started Arch Linux again. However, after I did so I could not access my shared directories (with my Windows host). I do not think it is a permission problem (root cannot ls either).
I can:
cd /media/sf_VMShared
cd <a folder in VMShared>
However, I can't ls the directories. This is only a problem in Shared Folders. When I run

It gets stuck looping on

OS 2.1.0.1032: internet over bridge stopped working after upgrade

Hi
Before the upgrade to 2.1.x, I was able to connect the bridge to my BB phone and then use the regular browser to connect to the internet (NOT the Bridge Internet Browser). I could also send and receive emails with my internet email accounts and -some- (only some, not all) applications also had internet access over the bridge. This is now no longer possible/working - I get a "Your BB Smartphone is unable to establish a connection to the destination server".
I have upgraded the Bridge on my phone, and all BB mail, calendar etc works fine, including the new SMS function, but I really miss not being able to do my other emails on the move and having to go to the Bridge Browser (not a big deal, but it means managing 2 sets of bookmarks.
The only other change is that I also received a new phone from my company, a BB Bold 9900 (previously a 9700) with OS 7.1 bundle 1149 (v7.1.0.342).. My BB phone bridge version is 2.1.0.23
Any thoughts/advice?
EDIT: Should this work this way at all i.e. can anyone else access internet emails etc when bridged or was my previous experience a fluke?

is possible your carrier is blocking it, can you download it from here that will not have the limitation

I was having this problem (iphone 5 wouldn't work as hotspot for my PC laptop) and had tried everything suggested on these message boards, so I finally went to the Apple Genius Bar and they fixed it for me. Here's what they did:
1) Turned the Hotspot off on my iphone
2) Went to the Control Panel on my laptop to "Network and Internet" > "Network and Sharing Center" > "Manage Wireless Networks" (on the left navigation panel) and deleted my iphone from the list of WiFi connections I've attempted.
3) Flipped the manual WiFi switch on my laptop to Off and then back On again (to reset it)
4) Turned the Hotspot on my iphone back on
After that, when I tried to connect, it worked. Hope this works for someone else.

It seems that settings of mail accounts have something to do with it. I've delete my gmail account and am now using Microsoft Exchange. It seems better, yet not perfect. The issue is definitely due to OS 4.3.1
Apple answer is - no answer. It is a shame that the quality of their products, in terms of design and concept, is not match by a care for customers. It is not normal that I, as a customer, have to spend hours reading Apple Discussions forum to try to understand what the problem is. A little more respect for a customer that spend big $$$ buying their products wouldn't hurt.

File- Export not working after upgrade from 11i to R12

File -> Export not working after upgrade from 11i to R12.1.3 in few systems. Can you please let me know what could be the issue.
If export record count more than 200 it is working fine in all the systems and if change the profile option "Export MIME type” value to ‘text/tab-separated-values’ from application/excel also it is wokring.

my ipohone 4 hotspot not working after upgrading to ios7.1 but my some friends having iphone 4s its works fine and those having iphone 4 it's not working although we all have same operator and same operating system (i.e ios 7.1).I think this is problem only with iphone 4 users with ios 7.1 , so apple plz fix it in ur next update.

Again it's not a bug, use a supported carrier if you want Personal Hotspot.
Read the list one more time, if carrier is not on the list, IOS7.1 patch the loophole.

I have Acrobat 7.0 updated to 7.1.4 which surprising no longer works after upgrading my mac operating system to OS 10.8.5 (mountain lion), and gives an err message that system no longer supports PPc applications. I guess Acrobat 7 is a PPc application and wanted to know if there is any work-forward here to be able to keep using this product? I didn't see this coming.

There may be parts of it that work if the MAC is anything like the PC. I have been able to get AA 7 to partially work on a Win7, 64-bit machine, but several work-arounds are required. The biggest one is the installation of a PS print driver and such. So, can you open Acrobat and/or Distiller? Do they seem to function? If so, there may be some workarounds. Otherwise you probably need to purchase AA XI. Actually, I would recommend purchasing the newer version anyway -- just trying to give you a picture of what might be possible.
When you say it no longer works it is not clear what you mean. You may need to clarify and also indicated if you have tried repairing the installation and such. I can't say a lot more since I am not really familiar with the MAC.
