Internet sites slow to load

when opening internet site I get spinning fan for extended periods of time. This just started happening a few months ago.

You've absolutely no need for anything like Webroot SecurityAnywhere. I'm sure that it's what's mucking up your access to some sites.
The best thing that you can do is to uninstall Webroot according to the developer's instruction and try to get your money back.

  • Https sites slow to load for IE in Server 2008 R2

    Hello All,
I have an issue with our new server where https sites are slow to load or do not load at all in IE 9 or Google Chrome. Using Firefox any page loads fine. I have tested many things, reinstalled IE, downgraded to IE8, upgraded to IE10, checked
the forums, tested SSL settings and still get the same issue.
For example if I open IE, navigate to google.com I will get a "waiting for google.com" that will sometimes take 5 minutes to load; the same behavior is noticed on Google Chrome but not Firefox. I did notice that if I installed google.com
SSL certificate that the page would load normally. I have tested the same method on another Server 2008 R2 box with no issues. I am not sure what the issue could be. Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated since this issue is directly affecting
    business operations for my client.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
We can add the sites to trusted site and clear temp files for test. Detail steps are in the following KB.

If it is not the case, this may be an issue with your proxy setup, if you use a proxy server, try turning it off in your windows network settings.

  • Internally hosted sites slow to load through proxy...

    Hi Everyone,
We're having some issues with internally hosted sites and apps loading slowly while on the internal network. We host a Moodle site, a Joomla site, an Exchange 2007 mail server (sorry, no more GW), and a Senior Systems server. All of these, except for the Joomla site, have an SSL cert from either GoDaddy or Verasign. If you're outside of our network the sites load just fine.
We're running a Netware 6.5 SP2 box with BM 3.8 on it and use the proxy. We use both IE 8 and Firefox (from 3.0 to 3.6) with either manual proxy settings with exemptions for the above sites, or a PAC file with the same exemptions. I don't believe the PAC file is the issue as the slowness still happens when configuring the proxy manually within the browsers. When a user tries to go to one of the above sites while on our network, the pages won't load for around 5-10 seconds. The browser will say it's connected to the site, but it just sits - and then the page will just pop into place. The Senior Systems server is particularly bad, as at times only the background color loads and a few minutes later the login box will load.
We have our DNS and DHCP servers running on Windows Server 2003 boxes.
    Thanks in advance,
    -CR Hiestand

so if i understood correctly, you do not use proxy to access this sites
    from inside, correct?
But traffic is still going thru bm, correct?
otherwise i do not understand why bm is on blame of the slowness. As
logn as you do not use the proxy, bm is not involved.
Best approach will be to take a lan trace and see where the delay happens.

As Google Chrome is using some IE settings, it might be normal to have a similar behavior.
You can try to reset IE settings: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737/en-us

  • New Time Capsule, Fast internet but slow on loading video?

Just install TC in ethernet connection and used the Wifi for my laptop, The problem is the slower loading of video from youtube or even @ the apple site's to my mac and even to my portables!?
I didn't have this kind of problem even before installing the TC and tried reseting my safari thinking maybe it would make it load faster. Please help!

OK I tried to separate the 5ghz and 2.4ghz names by going into wireless/wireless options and selecting the first checkbox.....didnt work. I tried using my Belkin router as a wireless access point. My iMac will connect to the Belkin and the TC but iPhone still wont connect to neither the Belkin nor the TC. I tried turning off NAT .....didnt work. I have pretty much tried every setting in Airport Utility and my iphone will not get internet. Would reverting to an old firmware version be worth a try? Is this safe to try?

  • Some internet sites won't load anymore

Since a couple of days I have been unable to load a couple of websites I check regularly like engadget and TUAW, while others (e.g Gizmodo) load extremely slowly and don't show pictures once they do load. There are some other sites that just won't work (Apple, imdb), but it seems very random since most sites do work normally.
The problem is the same in Safari 4, Firefox and Camino, so I'm guessing it's my mac in some way. I tried pinging Engadget and get a 100% failure rate every time. Once I try surfing there through www.the-cloak.com I get there just fine, though. I tried resetting my internet router (by taking the power off for a night and reconnecting it this morning), but that seems not to have changed anything.
Does anybody know what can possibly cause this?

Hi Nixed and welcome to Apple Discussions.
As the problem appears to be across various browsers I would suspect your ISP's DNS servers.
Have a look at OpenDNS and follow the instructions there. If you have browser access to your cable modem change the settings there, if not follow the instructions to change your Mac's settings.
Even if this doesn't solve your immediate problem using OpenDNS is A Good Thing because of their anti phishing and other security settings. They are also faster than many ISPs DNS servers.
The numbers you want are 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
    Good luck,
    Adrian

  • Edge animation in Wordpress site slow to load.

    Hi clever Edge people.
I have an (simple) Edge animation I am putting into a Wordpress site but it takes forever to load when looking at the site on a browser - trying it on ipad, Google chrome, firefox, and safari. The .oam file is 1.9mb. Is that big?
Here is the link (site in development so kinda messy!):
    http://everywhereyougo.co.nz/2012/11/shakespear-regional-park-2/
How does it load for you? Any clues about why it is slow?
    Thanks!
    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,
first of all thanks for using EdgeSuite for wordpress. Did you use shortcodes? Would it be ok to use your site as a reference for edge suite, I would list it on edgedocks.com if you would agree?
Now to your question: By looking at the network traffic you can tell that your homepage is more then 3.1MB big, thats quiet a lot. Use google pagespeed extension for chrome, yslow for firefox, the network tab in firebug or just http://www.webpagetest.org to get an idea of what's going on.
For example, the three icons FB, twitter, vimeo are each 500KB big, so these three icons are already have the size of your page. That is one thing to fix, but probably not the only reason for your composition to load slowly. You are using a lot of small assets, it just takes some time to load these. Does the composition load right away locally? If you want to further reduce loading time you could use spritesheets. You can combine small images within a bigger image and clip the focus when using the image as a backgound for a div. And try to reduce Photo1 2 3, each 150KB big.
What about adding a preloader for the animation, the then user at least knows that there is more to come.
    Just suggestions.

  • Safari/internet is slow to load

Safari is acting odd.  Some pages load normal, some at dial-up speed and others not at all.  This is occuring with all of my Apple products; however, all are affected in slightly different ways.  ISP advised that there is no issue with their service.  I have a Mac, Mac Notebook and two (2) Iphones on my home network.  To my mind there are several inconsistencies with the problem.  For instance on the Mac, Pandora will load one song (when forced) and will only play one song.  While itunes radio and Stitcher work without fail.  All three work fine on the iPhones.  Any suggestions/solutions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I also forgot to add that for some of the pages that don't load or load slow.  if you actually type the address into the address bar preceeded by "https://" instead of relying on search links or bookmarks it will load.

  • Why certain sites slow to load on Macbook

    Hey there,
Any of you super savvy sleuths able to tell why a certain site may load slowly on my Macbook and super fast on my iMac?
Both have lots of memory and are running the same operating system.
    One of the sites is:
    http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=92029
The actual forecast content and table content takes up to a minute to load.
As well, my bank accounts take a long time to load after I have logged in to my bank site.
Is it a Java thing?  A flash thing?
    Thanks

I think I found the issue.  I had an extension enabled called "Shortly."  I disabled that extension and all is well again.

  • Internet is slow to load or doesn't load at all....sometimes. why would this be?

Only recently this has been happening and I'm not sure why. Sometimes its absolutely fine and then pages will either load extremely slowly, a few minutes to load, or not at all. A message that appears sometimes is, REQUEST TIMEOUT , can anyone help? Thanks in advance

Have you read for possible solutions over in the "More Like This" thread over here?----------------------->

  • Sites do not load correctly

I'm having a problem where internet sites are not loading correctly. They will sometimes not show background images, or the formatting of the pages do not load right. They load all links at the left side of the page, and pictures too. I only have problems with this on my work computer, and not my home one. If I load a site, the first or second try it may not load right. I close the browser, delete the cookies and cache, and SOMETIMES it will load the website correctly. This happens for Yahoo.com, Ebay, Wal-Mart and other sites as well.
I have also deleted Mozilla Firefox from my computer, and deleted all memorized info on my computer for it. That has also not helped.
== URL of affected sites ==
    http://yahoo.com; ebay.com; walmart.com;

"Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Clearing_the_cache and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cookies
You can also try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window - See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resetting_preferences
You can create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See [[Basic Troubleshooting|#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox

  • DNS issues, iCloud and Internet Accounts on OSX System Preferences, Apple Web Services and Sites Slow/Unresponsive

    Hardware/Software:
    Macbook Air Mid 2013 1.3Ghz 8GB RAM 120GB SSD / Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    Issue:
Occasionally, Safari, App Store, iTunes, and any third party app that connects to the internet using Safari's rendering engine in my case was SafeinCloud - all fail to connect to the internet. Changing the DNS solves the issue but happens again after that, thus you would constantly have to change the DNS. Apple.com, iCloud.com, Apple Forums (this site) would also all be slow to load and access.
    Troubleshoot:
Changing DNS works for OSX, however for the slow Apple websites not so much.

    Hello mogwai_100,
It may help to reinstall Mac OS X on your system. The directions in the article linked below are for Mavericks (OS X 10.9), but will work for OS X 10.7 and OS X 10.8 as well.

  • Firefox periodically slow to load sites

For the past 5.5 days, Firefox will periodically be slow to load sites. This happens with any site and even as other browsers such as Chrome or Internet Exploder run just fine. Internet connection not working right has also been ruled out. I tried clearing the cookies and cache and that didn't do anything. As it happens at random intervals, I have no idea what else might be causing it

Avast anti-virus and Windows Firewall. If either of them have something to do with the slowness problem, it would be the first time they've caused a problem

  • Safari slow to load web sites

Safari is very slow to load web sites. They can be frequently used sites or new ones. They just take a long time to load. I'm not sure how to trouble shoot this. I'm on Yosemite 10.10.3
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

There are many possible causes for problems with web browsing. Below are some simple steps that may help either to solve the problem or isolate the cause.
Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Restart your router and also your broadband device, if they're separate.
    2. If you connect to the the router with Wi-Fi, turn off Wi-Fi and then back on.
    3. If you connect with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi.
    4. If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If the Downloads button (with the icon of a downward-pointing arrow) is showing in the toolbar, click it and then click Clear in the box that appears. The download history will be removed.
    5. Select the Extensions tab in the Preferences window. Turn all extensions OFF and test. If there's an improvement, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    6. If you're running OS X 10.10 or later, select the Search tab. Uncheck the box marked
              Enable Quick Website Search
    if it's checked.
    7. If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Quit and relaunch the browser.
    8. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest.
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    9. Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
    10. If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test.
    11. If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test.
    12. Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the boxes marked Safari and Photos, if they're checked.
    13. Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and if so, are they affected?
    14. If you can, test Safari on another network.
    15. Start up in Recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
