Internet Slow and doesn't work on some apps

My Internet on a Macbook has been a lot slower then on my older computers. And Software update and iTunes Store don't work at all. I am using an old Airport Extreme (the bubbleish one) connected to a DSL router.

Be sure you have the silent toggle switched off so the sounds can play through the speakers. Some applications adhere to the silent toggle preventing some sounds from running but music still works.
One case I know of is playing Aurora Feint II where I hear the music running but the action has no sound to it. I thought the phone was broken or something until I forgot the silent toggle was on.
Also hold the volume key to maximum volume if you have outdoor sounds going like crazy. The speaker isn't high enough to override the ambient noise you occasionally hear that's louder than the speaker.

    SOLVED:  IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
    I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
    Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
    THE FIX:  FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device.  Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
    To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now!  :-)
    Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you.

  • Pages app is slow and doesn't work anymore

    Recently, with the new update; pages app is NOT working on my ipad and it doesn't work when trying to pull it up on icloud to work on a document. It is unresponsive to editing and typing. Using a bluetooth keyboard is almost worse than the onscreen keyboard. I have found alot of people are having this same issue with pages; does anything work. I have tried just about everything to try to get this app working as it used to.

    There may be a problem with the server. For questions about web access to .Mac services, you should post in the .Mac forum for better response.

    In a roaming network, your "main" router is the device that would require port mapping/forwarding to be configured in order to access the IP camera from the Internet. This router is also the one that would be provide the private IP address for the camera which you will want to be a static one.
    So as you described your network, the IP cameras should be getting an IP address or you assigned it a static one and this is the address that you would enter in the Private IP address (or equivalent depending on the router used) field when setting up port mapping.
    If you are not able to access this camera from the local network, then this should be troubleshot first.

    Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    Next try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    Hi! Check the many threads on the forum as many users are having the same issue. Some are subtle to detect. Some cannot even connect.
    My issue is while turning off cellular data forcing wifi only and running speed test, it is intermittent. One test is fine at 9 Mbps and the very next run is like 0.3 Mbps.
    Others have found the device is opting to use cellular data instead of wifi and racking up data charges. You can check the cellular data usage under settings>general> usage. You can opt to turn off cellular data under the general settings area as well to prevent this.
    I am logging complaint with Apple and hope to swap out phone for a working one. Good luck and check out the numerous threads. You may wish to contact Apple Support and begin the steps to get a replacement phone.

    WTF! I've been through every forum about new adobe flash player it doesnt work on some site i.e facebook, ustream, fox news, dailymotion and cartoon network...Nobody, not even adobe has a real solution to this problem! Some site stream good other don't at all. All I get is a blue box in the display sometimes it loads, but doesn't play the video or games. Updated Java and SWF and by the way this a brand new computer fresh out the box WIN7 64 worked before why not now! I've reinstall and uninstall, checked active X java scripting, and global settings and so on, but nothing seems to work. WHY? Global settings doesn't work for some unknown reason can't enable some of the settings. Everything work fine on my PC before the update, so go figure adobe. No! browser works with the new flash player properly. Fire, IE, Safari, and Opera none of these browser work with the flash player like it should! HELP!!!     I don't understand - in your post you mention "new Flash Player" several times, but in the subject you mention 10.2...?
    What is the exact FP version you have?
    For your blue box problem, have you tried to disable Hardware Acceleration?

If some items do not display green checkmarks that means that the hosting server is not configured correctly to allow the Form widgets to send email messages to the address you've specified.
                    Contact your web-hosting provider about the server configuration problem. Describe the items that are not marked as green in the form check page, so that they can help you set up the servers to use the correct settings.

  • Left shift key doesn't work on some characters

    In some applications, such as Excel and AOL, my left shift key doesn't work on some letters. Consequently, when I'm typing I get lower case letters when I've typed shift plus the letter to get a cap. Right shift works OK, but I'm not used to using it. It happens on i, t, and p, I've noticed so far. I don't know if it's the keyboard or the application. Word seems to work fine.
    Would welcome any ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it.

    Is it possible that you have inadvertently switched to a different keyboard layout? Open System Preferences, then click on the Language & Text preferences. Within the Language & Text preferences click on the 'Input Sources'. You should see a long list of languages representing the various keyboard layouts that are available. Make sure that only the keyboard language you use is selected. If there are multiple languages selected then de-select the extras.
    If you continue to have problems then check the 'Show input menu in menu bar' checkbox in the lower section of the preference pane. This will place an icon in the upper right menu bar (it looks like a flag representing the language you have chosen for your input device) that provides additional options. I suggest selecing the 'Show Keyboard Viewer' option and then try pressing the keys that you are having problems with to see how they show up on the keyboard viewer graphic. If you've set the correct language for your keyboard and the key sequences still don't match, then you may need to take your keyboard in for service. Better yet, borrow another keyboard to confirm that the keyboard is the issue.

    Back button behaviour can be pretty wierd. I usually use the keyboard combination, but for some reason it doesn't work on PDF's and I have to end up using the graphical back button.
    There are some websites out there that for some reason or another break the Back button's behaviour. Sometimes I have to hold down the mouse button to get the back button menu in order to work around that problem.
    In another case there was this page in Amazon that wouldn't allow me to go back to. Everytime I went to that page the browser to automatically kick me to the next page. I had to disable javascript to work around that problem.

    Apologies for the brief and cryptic question. Frustration.
    This is a TIFF file. Originally it was a RAW image that had a preset applied in ACR, then a black and white preset layer added. Then a couple small edits with contrast, plus an unsharp mask and high pass, completed with the flattening of the image and finally saved as a TIFF.
    I believe it may have been the flattening, but when I close the image and reopen it it only has one layer. I can go in and edit this reopened image in a new brightness/contrast layer, but hue/contrast seems dead. Unless I colorize the image.
    I have a hue/contrast preset I like to use as well, and if I add that preset when the TIFF is reopened hue and saturation can be manipulated.
    Your question is exactly the one I have been asking. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your initial response.
