Internet soooo slow kids cannot even play xbox liv...

i live 2 miles away from an exchange yet my internet connection is about 0.5 mb, its soooooo slow, my mother lives in lanzarote and laughs at how **bleep** my connection is. i have 3 kids to want to watch youtube and skyanytime + .
the worst thing is that my hubby is an employee and i would get free btvision, but my line it TOO SLOW for it lol
in this day and age there is no escuse for it seriously!!

Hi please post your full hubstats by entering 192.168.1.254into your browser address bar and then navigate to advanced / connection /broadband and post the full results and also run the Bt speedtest
Speedtester.bt.com and run the full test there and post the results
Then some one will be able to advise you further
Your speed is related to your line length ( attunuation) and quality even though you may be 2 miles from your exchange your line could be up to twice that depending on how it is routed to the exchange nothing to do with this day and age I am afraid but more the lawsof physics

  • Is it possible to even get xbox live to work

Is it possible to even get xbox live to work on a mac airport extreme 802.11n router, i tried everything i could think of (just so you know i have a d-link wireless router for my xbox) ? If anybody has actually performed this feat please tell me!

My XBOX 360 works perfectly and very fast wirless on Apple Extreme. I do not have security enabled and limit users (basically only my XBOX) by MAC adreess, which is easy in the setup utility. My old Linksys was very jittery when playing NHL hockey online, but now with extreme it is perfect and smooth. Hard core security folks will say you can sniff my network with a MAC address spoof utility, but I know my neighbours could care less about sniffing my XBox traffic....

  • WRT54GS - No Internet when plugged in, but I get Xbox LIVE...

I have Verizon DSL for Internet, and when I switch the Ethernet cable over to the Router, I have no Internet on my computer, but I have Xbox LIVE...?
I'm lost; how do I fix this?

First check the IP when directly connected to the DSL modem in case if its 192.168.1.1 then connect only the computer to the router without the modem connected then change the lan ip of the router to 192.168.2.1 and the power cycle the network i.e. turn off power to modem and router, connect the modem - router - computer, power up the modem wait for the light, followed by the router. This should work. Also make sure that you computer is not set to static IP address.
Start-control panel - network connection - right click local area connection and select properties - tcp/ip properties - It should be set to obtain IP automatically.

  • Why is my internet soooo slow?

My internet has been so slow now. I want some answers to why this is happening, or how I can resolve it before I call customer service.
I mean it is VERY SLOW. Feels like dial-up all over again. I have had verizon for 5-7 years or so. And every year it seems they are making it slower. What can I do?

#1 What is the brand and model of your modem?
#2 What is the brand and model of your router?
#3 What software firewall is on your computer?
#4 What anti-virus software is on your computer?

  • At times my mac runs the internet soooo slow, how do I fix this?

At times my mac runs slow.how do I fix this....the color wheel will spin over and over....

You haven't provided much information, so it's hard to tell where the slowness comes from. Before I answer your question, I'll need to ask a few others:
    1. Does the slowness happen all the time, or in relation to specific applications?
    2. Do you notice if the slowness is related to being online, or offline?
    3. When did you notice the slowness?
    4. What kind of computer do you use - type, year, amout of RAM?
    5. Do you use the Mac OS, or in conjunction with Windows? What version for each?
    6. Do you have other Apple products? Similar or dissimilar problem?
    7. How long have you used this computer/operating system?
This may seem like a lot of questions, and I may have to follow up on specific questions to narrow down the search. I wish there were a more precise way of proceeding, but your answers will help determine the solution.

  • WRT54G Can't play on xbox live and connect wirelessly to router or internet from comp at same time

    Hi guys.
I have a WRT54G and since I have had it I havent been able to connect wirelessly to see my router or get online form my comp while my xbox 360 is on xbox live. My other computer though, which is wired, can connect online anytime wether the xbox 360 is on line or not. Any help would be nice.

I have a similar problem to this. I do some online gaming, and while my roommates are playing XBOX live (which is a lot now that halo 3 came out) I cant even connect, and if i do connect i get such a high latency it is unplayable. I would also greatly appreciate any help on this issue.

  • Xbox live internet priority

    Hello Everyone,
I am wondering if anyone can give me information on how to make it so that my xbox has more internet priority than my computers while i am playing xbox live. I want to make it so that when i am playing xbox and using p2p software that my computer's internet speed will take the hit instead of my xbox connection lagging while i am playing online games. Let me know if you can help me. Thanks!
    Ryan

    Hello Ryan!
All you need is to access the set up page of your linksys router. I suppose you have a wrt54g router? if so, you can do this:
Go to applications and gaming tab of the router. input the mac address of your xbox. set priority to high or highest, then save the settings.

  • XBOX Live section not available under Games Menu

    Hi,
I'm using a Nokia Lumia 800, with Vodafone Romania as mobile provider.
When I go to Games, XBOX Live section is not available. So any games that I install and should be listed under this section cannot be accessed ( even if the installation wizard for the games completes succesfully).
When I bought the phone I remember I unpined the XBOX Live tile from the initial screen; I dont remember hitting Uninstall..
How can I restore XBOX Live tile/section?
    Many thanks.

  • Express extending Extreme's Network, Xbox Live not connecting.

    Hey Everyone!
I have an Airport Express (n version) extending my Airport Extreme's (n version) wifi successfully. My Xbox is connected to my Express via ethernet. My Xbox was able to successfully download a system update, but fails when attempting to update an Xbox Live update. I checked Microsoft's website to make sure Xbox Live was running properly, which it is. My network test on the Xbox tells me that it can connect to the Network, it can connect to the internet, but CANNOT connect to Xbox Live. My ip address does start with 10.0.x.xx, I'm wondering if that is part of the issue? I have never had any issue downloading things on the internet via my laptop. My other idea is that I haven't updated my Xbox in about 6 months, so maybe there's just a large amount of updates and it's receiving a bug of some sort? Can someone help me out here?
    -Nate

First, have you had an opportunity to try some of the connectivity troubleshooting options provided by Microsoft for Xbox LIVE? For example, either Xbox LIVE Connection Problems or Xbox LIVE Connection Solution (aka Connection Wizard)? If so, what was the exact error(s) that either were reporting?
Typically, when your console is able to access the Internet, but not to Xbox LIVE, the issue can be one of at least three things: 1) ICMP, 2) NAT, or 3) MTU errors. Were any of these reported when you ran the connectivity tests?

  • WRT310N and XBOX Live

I recently installed a new wireless WRT310N. I have one computer hard wired to the router (Time Warner-Roadrunner) and 2 that are wireless, all working  with no problems. My son cannot connect his XBOX "live". We keep getting a message "IP address failed."
The people at XBOX are telling me that the 310N is "too advanced" at this point and they can't support it. They say I could connect by using an ethernet cable from the router to the XBOX but since these are in different rooms of my home, it isn't feasible without running a lot of cable. Has anyone else experienced this and does it make sense that the 310N is "too advanced" to work on a wirelss connection with XBOX?

Try this settings on wireless router ....
Please click on the tab "Application and gaming" and click on sub
    tab "Port range forwarding"
    1) On the first line in Application box type in "Xbox", in start box
type in 88, in end box type in 88, in protocol keep it both, in ip
address type in 192.168.1.20 and give a check mark on enable box.
    2)   On the second line in Application box type in "Xbox", in start box
type in 3074, in end box type in 3074, in protocol keep it both, in ip
address type in 192.168.1.20 and give a check mark on enable box.
    3) Now save the settings
    4) Once you return to the setup page, click on the tab "Administration"
and disable the UPNP and save the settings.
    5) Now assign the given ip address on your xbox
       ip address :- 192.168.1.20
       subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0
       default gateway :- 192.168.1.1
Please assign the dns address on the xbox
      primary dns :- 4.2.2.2
      secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1
    6) Please try to test your xbox live.

  • When Brother plays Xbox I lose internet

Okay, when my brother plays Xbox with the wireless chip, my macbook says i still have connection with the router, but not with the internet. I use comcast netgear with 4 channels. I heard I could change the frequences of the two...
    Please help

    Hi
    Here what I got:
    Protocol Support
The CG814WG supports the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
    • IP Address Sharing by NAT
The CG814WG allows several networked PCs to share an Internet account using only a single IP address, which may be statically or dynamically assigned by your Internet service provider (ISP). This technique, known as Network Address Translation (NAT), allows the use of an inexpensive single-user ISP account.
    • Automatic Configuration of Attached PCs by DHCP
The CG814WG dynamically assigns network configuration information, including IP, gateway, and domain name server (DNS) addresses, to attached PCs on the LAN using the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). This feature greatly simplifies configuration of PCs on your local network.
    • DNS Relay
When DHCP is enabled and no DNS addresses are specified, the gateway provides its own address as a DNS server to the attached PCs. The gateway obtains actual DNS addresses from the ISP during connection setup and forwards DNS requests from the LAN.
I can connect to an access point, but I cannot connect to other computers on
    the network or the Internet.
This could be a physical layer problem or a network configuration
    problem.
Check to make sure that the access point is physically connected to the Ethernet network. Make sure that the IP addresses and the Windows
networking parameters are all configured correctly.
Restart the cable or DSL modem, router, access point, and notebook PC.

The Deskjet series printers connect to wireless networks with what is called USB to Wireless.
You will need a supported operating system to connect a Deskjet to a wireless network.  Supported operating systems to connect the printer to a wireless network are Windows 7 (32bit and 64bit), Windows Vista (32bit and 64bit), and Mac OS X (10.5, 10.6, and 10.7).
While there is a software download option for Linux distributions, this is not the full featured software that is capable of adding the printer to a wireless network.  Most printers have a wireless setup wizard to accomplish this task, but the Deskjet series printers connect in a different way.
Once the printer is connected to a wireless network,  HPLIP 3.12.4 drivers should be able to locate the printer.
Click on Installing the Product Software for a Wireless Network Connection to receive instructions to connect to a wireless network using Windows and Mac operating systems.
Click on Software & Driver Downloads - HP Deskjet 3070A e-All-in-One Printer - B611a to download the appropriate software for a supported operating system to connect to a wireless network.

What you did was sync it to a computer. The iPhone can sync to ONLY one iTunes library at a time. you can't put media on it from multiple computers. It's been this way since 6/29/2007.
i have to put in screen lock for it to even play
Completely different issue. What did you think it would do when you set a passcode for the phone?

  • ''The new king of the desktop'' cannot even catch the internet!

Ever since I bought Lion for my MacBook Pro my internet wireless connection has constantly been dropping off without any warning. Restarts sometimes bring it back but I find it frustrating and embaressing that ''the new king of the desktop'' cannot even catch the internet!
I brought my machine to an Apple repair store here in Barcelona and the assistant assumed straight away it was a Lion software problem and how that he now advises everyone not to change over to Lion as it cause too many problems . They checked my MacBook Pro and confirmed the hardware was totally fine and that the problem was in fact the software.
I asked if they could fix it, (I mean there are laptops that are built in garden sheds that can carry out the simple task of picking up wireless internet!!!) I picked it up the next day and the internet had returned to my machine however a few hours later the same problem of the internet server not being found was regularly recurring. It is just not good enough. I spent 70 euro for nothing!
If anyone has any suggestions on how to resolve this, they would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I will just have to follow the Apple assistant´s advice and 'just go back to Leopard'

This seems to be a well-known issue. I had issues with my mid-2009 MacBook dropping its WiFi connection under Snow Leopard as well. Lion made it worse and it happens at least once a day now, although there are some weeks where it doesn't happen. It's the only WiFi-enabled device for it to happen. I don't know of a fix.
