Internet speed sluggish after valet plus install

Hi there,
after spending over 48 hours trying to configure my valet plus I had success.
I installed my Valet plus router after a Netgear modem/router which I set as modem only, and turned the wireless function off.
After finally being able to access the internet I noticed some flash streaming video sites don't work anymore, and places like youtube take forever to download, not to mention if you try to watch something as soon as the page loads. And most internet pages take a while to load... Any ideas? I have only one PC connected to the Valet and 3 connected as guests through the guest side.???

Well, my Valet Plus started acting weird again and my internet speed went back to the stone age.
Does anyone from Cisco that can actually make a difference in how they act on complaints read these posts?
Can't someone just make a sticky on how they recognize there is a problem and are working to resolve it?
I am returning my valet plus as soon as I am able to because as soon as I connected my old router back speeds got 1000% better.
And dont tell me to change the MTU or some other bull... That should be done automatically, NOT by the end user since the Valet is supposed to be an easier alternative to whats out there today and so far Ive had to deal with problems since I had this thing...

Internet speed compromised after upgrade to iOS 8

Have recently upgraded to iOS 8 and Internet speed has been drastically reduced on my iPad air (128Gb). Is there anyone out there who can assist? I'm on a weak 3G network.

First try a soft reset. Hold the home & sleep/wake button down simultaneously., keep holding until you see the Apple logo appear then let go & let the iPad boot normally.
If that doesn't help, go to Settings->General->Reset->Reset All Settings. You will not lose any data but will have to login to any wifi networks you previously connected with. You could also just try resetting Network Settings but I find resetting all settings can clear up a bunch of issues including speed & usability.

Internet Speed even after an engineers visit.........

I am hoping someone can help me as I seem to be getting nowhere.
Whilst I was away this last Christmas my telephone went faulty (No dial tone although I could still use my BT Broadband at its usual 6.25mbps speed – it had been this speed since I moved in approximately 3 years ago). When I returned home I reported it to BT and an engineer came to visit on 3rd January. He repaired the phone but my internet speed plummeted down to 0.45mbps download and 0.14 upload. I was told I needed to fault this separately.
I thus reported this to BT (in India) who said he could see there was a problem and he would try to reset it. However I would have to wait 5 or 7 days for the line to ’settle’.
As it never got above 0.41mbps upload and 1.7mbps download over this period I recontacted BT in India who said they would put the job out to Openreach and an engineer’s visit would be needed.
Despite Openreach missing an agreed appointment last week, necessitating me to recontact BT in India, an engineer finally attended today.
The engineer agreed the internet speed was only 600kbps at the main socket in my house. He then went to the exchange to check the speed there which he reported was 8.0mbps which it also was at a cabinet further down the road. He then checked the speed at the telegraph pole opposite my house and the speed was only 700kbps there. The engineer stated there was obviously a problem in a stretch of about 40 yards of cable between the cabinet and the telegraph pole. However there were no working ‘spare pairs’ to transfer my line onto.
He then dropped the bombshell that BT do not guarantee line speed on the internet, only that the telephone side of the line works and as my phone was working there was nothing he could do, other than report it back. He then went onto say though, that as my line ‘passed its phone test’ and the phone was working, BT would not replace the faulty cable and so I was stuck with the problem.
He said until the cable fault caused an outage of someone’s telephone, BT would not replace the cable.
Hence I am now left with snail pace broadband. Surely this cannot be right?

The engineer changed all the wiring from outside of my house to the BT main socket as his equipment was showing a problem there. Then he went out amongst the cabinets and manholes in the area and found I was 'cross paired' or something with another phone line further towards the exchange. He also connected me up to a different 'pair' that he found in the alleged faulty cable and on his equipment it showed I should then receive asbout 6 to 7 mbps (despite a section of cable being aluminium instead of copper!!). He then rang BT to take off a 'throttle' or something and lo and behold my speed was back in excess of 6mbps. It took the engineer almost all day (out in horrible cold and snowy weather) to fettle it but it is great to be back upto speed again.
He did say it would take about 10 days to finally settle down but I was expecting that so no problem there.
It was a great job done by a very thorough and precise engineer in order to find the fault(s) that were causing the problem.

Communication to internet not working after Windows 10 installed

I just upgraded to windows 10 and after installing everything worked fine, then I did a couple of updates today for Windows 10 and then I could not connect to internet either via wifi or hardwire. My connection to the internet would start but then drop off withing a minute. any suggestions?

It could also be problems associated with the service pack reinstalled when you reinstalled - you may need to get service pack two on a disk to bring it up to speed. It may also be that your windows reinstall does not supply the drivers for your NIC, which probably was supplied by the PC manufacturer, or, if your NIC was ever upgraded or replaced, its drivers would not be in your windows reinstall.

Wireless internet speeds slower after upgrading from 10/2 to 50/25?? Using olders revision Mi424WR.

We have been using the oldest version/revision of the Actiontec Mi424WR router provided by verizon for 3+ years. Recently we upgraded from an outdated 10/2 internet plan to our current 50/25 wireless plan. The speeds when wired are fantastic, but with wireless, on multiple computers the speed even right next to the router hovers at about 10mbps. I understand about the degradation and limit of wireless signals, but we should absolutely be getting higher download speeds than 10mbps(~1Mb/s). On our older 10/2 mbps plan our devices were receiving consistant download speeds of higher than we are getting now, maxing out at 1.6Mb/s usually. The only change that has been made recently is we reset the router to fatory settings, leading me to believe that wireless settings that were in place before are no longer there and throttling wireless speeds. I do not expect to get the full 50+ mbps speed that I am getting from wired, but I do expect my wireless speeds to be consistent with our upgraded plan(let alone slower than our massively slower old plan). Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

You should definetely get better speeds even with an older router, upto about 20 or so.
If that works for you, then it's probably just a little wireless interference.
you can change that in the router. open a browser, and go to http://192.168.1.1
user name is admin. and the password is most likely the serial number found on the service tag of your VZ router unless you changed it. Once you login succesfully, go to the top and hit wireless, then on the left basic security. then go to option 3 which is channel 1, 6 and 11 and are the only channels you should try.
So it will likely be set to auto, change it to 11 and put the check for keep settings even after reboot (Directly under the channel) and then hit apply. after you hit apply, test your connection out, if you notice a difference, leave it like that until the problem happens again, and if it happens again, go back into the router, and try channel 6, test it out. and then finally 1 if the first two don't work.
Also take a look at page 2 of Actiontec's Wireless PDF File. It gives you some idea's with regards to position and orientation of where the router sits and how it can best be positioned for maximum coverage.

Is Ipad 1 sluggish after installing IOS5?

My Ipad 1 is totally sluggish after IOS 5 install. Keyboard is slow, Calendar, contacts and email are slow to load and Safari crashes all the time. Anyone else having problems?

Yep, I'm having the same problem. Also with syncing my 3GS since the update to os5. It wont complete the sync and I am not able to transfer my recent purchases because the option to sync is unavailable. iTunes either wants to continue the previous sync (where I get an error) or start off as a new phone or cancel. Nice options. Going to loos the movies I wanted to transfer from my phone

HT1222 My internet speed has slowed to a crawl after installing security update 2015-003. Any ideas on how to fix?

I recently installed security update 2015-003 and now my internet connectivity have slowed to a crawl. sometimes if I turn wi-fi off and then back on the speed returns to normal but sometimes it does not. Then start up in Recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. Check again. Then restart as usual and post the results.

Internet Speed after Router Install

I installed a Belkin wireless router on my G5. The wireless speed on my laptops is great, but the internet speed on my G5 which is hard wired to the router has slowed down substantially. I was told previously to point the router at one address and the computer to another but am not sure how to do this. Any suggestions would be vey much appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry if I'm being dense, but I don't see how the Macs enter into this at all. Your macs are wired to your router. Your only wireless connection is from the router to your PC laptop. Your solution is going to come from Belkin, not Apple.
You need to encrypt your wireless signal, using WEP, WPA, or whatever else your router supports. Belkin should provide instructions for doing that. Your router may also be able to only accept connections from specific MAC addresses. Again, this should be in Belkin's manual.
None of these things will affect how your Macs connect to your router because that connection is wired ethernet, not wireless.
Or is there something else you haven't mentioned?

I have this same problem, and I did a clean installation.
Hardware:
2009 MacBoook Pro 17" 3.06 C2D; 4 GB RAM, 256 Apple SSD
While loading the browser is quick starting up, I notice a delay to open any website, like it's preloading the entire page versus just loading. Safari seems like it's a bit sluggish overall with loading web pages.
Did a internet speed test and my U/D rates are the same after the upgrade.

Slow Internet Speed after Leopard

I'm having a funny problem since the installation of Leopard and that is very slow internet browsing speed. But its not as simple as it sounds. I have another Windows PC on the same network; when its on mac internet speed is slow, when Windows PC is off the Mac internet speed if fast and normal.
I'm not alone in this problem. I read similar problems on Apple Gazette after installing Leopard. Any suggestions?

Internet browser freezes after checking internet speed/bandwidth

After installing Lion I tried to determine my internet speed by using various websites like speedtest ,speedtest.net and some more like them.
Every time when the download test was finished and the upload had to start the browser stopped.
It did not react to any commands. Only thing to do was a restart of my iMac.
This happened with Safari as well as Google Chrome.
With SL I did not have this problem.
Anybody an idea what causes this and how to cure it?

SLOW and SLUGGISH after clean install PLEASE HELP!

My Macbook Pro started acting slugggish a few nights ago, and it seemed after a reboot that it ran better, but quickly slowed down. I ran permissions, disk repair, reset the PRAM the SMC and etc... nothing helped. I tried to do a Time Machine restore and after 10 hours of SLOW restoration (it still had 70 hours left) i decided to do a CLEAN INSTAL of Yosemite 10.10.
Same thing, takes over 10 minutes to boot up and i click on something and the beach ball will spin for a minute.
Disk Utility says everything is OK.... but even the internet is sluggish as if the entire machine is not processing the information fast enough.
ANY HELP is greatly appreciated as this is on day 4.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Lion sluggish after installing Windows 7

I installed Win7 on my Mid 2012 iMac, i7 3.4Ghz 16gb RAM for a few programs that I needed on the windows platform. A few months later I removed the partition from my hard disk, but I am experiencing extremely sluggish performance on Lion. I've tried erasing the HD completely and reinstalling Lion, but it's still sluggish. By sluggish I mean I used to be able to play World of Warcraft on Ultra with no problems whatsoever, now I cant even play on the low setting. Scrolling up and down websites, even typing on the search bar of Chrome or Safari also becomes a pain because of the really slow performance. Any ideas as to what I should do? I've only experienced this problem after I've installed Win7.
What frustrates me the most is the fact that my early 2010 MBP runs WoW just fine on ultra... Please help!
