INTERNET STARTS UP THEN CANCELS

Sometime around 3 weeks ago i was surfing the web,to cut the story short i stumbled onto a website which i think gave me a sometype of virus or somthing. So now my internet starrtup but swiftly shuts off saying an error. So i currently have to use OS 9 to use the internet but i want to fix the problem with the internet on OS X. Can someone please help me. I will post what the error said.

Mac OS 10.3 uses an older version of Safari that may not be compatible with some sites. Consider Camino:

Camino is a pure Mac app based on the Mozilla FireFox browser but is faster and leaner than FireFox. The most current version is still compatible with OS 10.3.9. I rehabbed three old Wallstreet G3s for a friend and put Panther on two. He has trouble with a lot of sites with Safari 1.3.2 but they all work with Camino.
FireFox is good but, IMHO, is bloated and does not have a true Mac interface. Just never "felt quite right" to me.

I solved the problem. Had nothing to do with Mac or iphoto. Problem must be my the internet connection to my provider.
Upload at my office worked without any problem. One problem solved, now i am aware with a lot of discussions with my providers helpdesk ;-)

Hi，
So switch a LAN card fix this issue...seems a compatibility issue or maybe some packs or programs you installed recently cause this issue.
Have you manually check the network adapter driver from the PC's manufacture website? sometimes, it will be a time delay before Microsoft push out the driver update.
Check if issue exists in safemode with network, this mode will launch Windows with limited sets of files and drivers.
if you have a restore point, restore the pc to a previous point at which the pc is functioning fine.

Ever since then I've had these exclamation marks and now these tunes are not transferrable and I've lost them in my music file on the ipod nano and so cannot reload them again. You get exclamation marks or dead tracks because iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed..
Usually the actual music files are still there, so you need to check to see if you can find them.
If they are there, open iTunes and select a problem track, right click and select Get Info.
Answer NO when asked if you want to locate the track.
Now you should see where iTunes thinks the tack is located on the summary tab, how does this compare with where the track actually is.
This info should help work out what has gone wrong.

Cannot burn, it will start, then cancel

Im having problems burning cds, i insert a blank disk, click burn and it starts and initializes the play list but it stops and then cancels the burn... what the heck is going on, i cant burn music and my ipod wont update!!!

Ok, finally I figure it out!!
You need to give computer access to the password of Yahoo.com
You go to the application "Key Chain" that is included in your MacBook Pro.
Then you go to the first tab that should say something with "Login/Session" and you should see all your saved passwords.
Scroll down to the saved password of "Yahoo: your-username @ ...
Click on it, you should see a window opening
Go to the tab "Access Control"
Then click on "Allow all applications to connect .. ", NOT the option "Ask every time for allowance" or you can also just add the program "MAIL" with the "+" icon !!
There you go, now you should not have to worry again !!!!!!

Found out LR wasn't stopping but slowed way down. For 19 pictures, no video and no sound it took over 6 Hrs to export. Does anyone have any ideas to help this? Thank You.

If i selected to "Create a new backup" and then cancelled that option but want to go back and select "Inherit backup history"; how do i go back and do that since now when i plug in my HD, that option doesn't appear anymore?? Any Help?

I didn't understand the option to Inherit or start a new back up, and therefore selected the option to create a new backup. I believe I should have selected to Inherit backup history so that when i back it up on the new MackBook Air, it appears the same as the one I'm returning.... Is there anyway that i can re-select the option to Inherit backup history for time machine?

When I connect my ipad, and try to update it, it starts and then I get a message that says backup cannot be saved on this computer. I have tried everything suggested to no avail. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I have had problems with itunes. Sometimes I even get a message that I am not connected to the internet.
I have uninstalled and re-installed. Any help?

So I've read other forums and searched this website for one, but I still can't find the answer. Whenever I try to download the file it will start but then after some time get stuck on a percentage(different every time) and then stop all together. I've tried using different browsers and a download manager, I have plenty of storage space also. It still won't work
I've heard that this may have something to do with my internet and secruity? Or something? Can someone tell me how to fix that? My technical skills are very very low and this is the first time I've used a mac.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

If you go to System Preferences (under the Apple menu) and select the Network pane, then select the interface you want to use (probably Wi-Fi or AirPort if you are wireless, or Ethernet if not.) If using a static IP address you can set your router address here. If you are using DHCP, it is not needed, since the computer will pick it up automatically.

How to repair disc on second partition iMac 27? 10.6.8, but second is still 10.6.3. Can I use the original 10.6.3 install disc to start, and then go to the side needing repair?

Partitioned iMac 27, Sept. 2010. Verify disc on HD2 says "corrupted, needs repair," unspecified. "Use install disc to repair." HD2 is isolated from Internet since birth. HD 10.6.8, but HD2 is still 10.6.3. Can I use the original 10.6.3 install disc to start, and then go to the side needing repair, without a problem?
Part 2: After 4 years, suddenly when HD2 is revived from sleep, it makes an Internet connection, all settings are the same, Network shows Ethernet is unplugged, but the indicator from modem shows connection. Maybe connected to first part of my question, but maybe not.

No; but then, I've not had occasion to use TDM. I've been using firerwire drives for over 10 years, both FW400 and FW800, with no issues except a bit of instability using a B&W G3 machine.
TDM should be safe. Using cautious, manual copying of files from the Target machine to the Host machine should not result in unexpected loss of files or damage to the Target drive's directories. It should behave exactly the same as if it were an external (to the Host) firewire drive.

I know that using a cloned drive would work well in this instance.
I have no experience with Time Machine, so perhaps someone who has will chime in with suggestions.
With the machine in TDM with the other machine, have you tried running Disk Utility to see if you can effect repairs to the drive?

I have Windows 7 Pro, 64Bit. Itunes works fine except I can't go to the ITunes store from in the software. It starts and then goes blank page. I have tried all the fixes and had a IT group working all day on this. Not fixed. Any suggestions?
