Internet stops working after being connected for 5 minutes to wifi

My macbook pro running on os x mavericks is giving me an issue. After 5 minutes of connection with the wifi network, the internet stops working even though its connected the network. Reconnecting fixes it for yet another 5 minutes.

Might be corrupted network preferences ..
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
See if that makes a difference.
Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

All applications close after being open for 1 minute.

Recently, all applications I open on my Mac close after being open for 1 minute. Safari and Microsoft word do not stay open for longer than 30 seconds. Prior to this, my computer would freeze and eventually applications would close. I'm not sure why this is happening or how to fix it. Does anyone know what could of happen for everything to close after opening it? Any help would be great, thanks!

Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.
Restart your computer when done.

Internet stops working after waking up from sleep

My MPB has a strange and very inconvenient problem. Sometimes when it goes out of sleep Internet stops working. No matter what connection I use: Ethernet or WiFi (tried both), no site can be opened. The strange thing is:
at the same time other devices connected to the same router work fine (both wired and wireless), so router and ISP are OK.
from Mac I can ping any site by IP (and Skype works fine too).
So it looks like some service in Mac OS that is responsible for domain name resolution stops working.
What I tried:
Restart router - no effect
Move Mac to sleep and wake again - no effect
Restart Mac - the only cure. But in this case I have to close and open numerous applications that is really bothering.
Should I mention that all updates are in place?

Try this. Go to: System Preferences/Network/Advanced/ and click on the far right part of the bar, PPP. You have seven possible items to be clicked: instead, only click "Connect Automatically..." and "Disconnect when..." - and leave everything else unclicked.
That should solve your problem, though it'd be great if you were to post your results here.

Since i have upgraded to ios6 , internet stops working after a minute max , i have tried everything , my other ipad works fine on the same internet , and so does my iphone they are on previous software , please help me

please help me i have tried everything , like renewing lease , reseting network , etc etc , my other i pad which is on ios 5 works well , so does my iphone which is on ios4 , no matter what i do after a minute or 2 , it stops working , it automatically doesnt connect to wifi unlike my other devices, and i do it manually it works for a min and stop , device still shows connection to wifi

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Mouse stops working after being left alone

My issue is: If I don't use my mouse for an extended period of time (especially if afk, happenes when at the computer too though) it stops working and I need to replug it for it to work, the time seems to range from 2 seconds to half an hour or more without any real logic to it.
Expected behavior: the mouse should remain functional even after not being used for a variable amount of time.
Originally I suspected it was because it uses 5V 100mA but after examining my previous mouse and the USB spec I can conclude that is not the case as this behavior was not expressed with my previous mouse, further this behavior remains even after I move it from the usb hub to one of the ports on the computer.

1b1a:7004 seems to be an unknown device (seeing that it works fine on windows and mac based computers I can conclude that the hardware isn't faulty)
Perhaps linux doesn't realize it requires 100mA? Or maybe it isn't getting 12MB/s speed but instead only 1.5?

Well... apparently my theories are all incorrect, the LEDs stop pulsing when the mouse 'dies' and just remain on so at least I can conclude it doesn't power down.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

does execute without error but it changes nothing.
the buttons do not wake the mouse which is why this is such a problem (well, the dpi button and LMB, RMB and MMB don't, there are two other buttons but I can't recall if I tested them)
Physically unplugging and re-inserting the mouse and keyboard fixes the problem regardless of any changes. The thing is that I would like it to be working from boot, and not having to replug them.
Obviously not working on my end though seeing I have to replug it every time it dies.
thanks for linking the post though (I had already read it but going through it a second time at least proves it wasn't just a one off that I didn't do it right or something but that it actually doesn't work. Odd that root doesn't have permission to do some things though, seeing that root should have ultimate power).

Internet stops working even though connected?

So I've been having this problem for about a week or so now...my internet will be fine and connected and then suddenly it stops working even though it still says it's connected to the network. Then I just turn my airport off and then back on and it works again. It only happens on my computer, all the other computers/laptops in the house are working fine...any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix it???

what kind of router? i am having same issue sometimes. i have linksys wrt54gs and im connected to router, but no internet, but everyone else in the house is on windows and gets internet connection.

I have a bit of a problem, i live in South Africa, and have wireless internet, with a desktop modem connected to my iMac using a ethernet cable, and using the network settings in system preferences.
I have been using this setup for some time now and have had no problems, till a few days a go i did a apple update, where there was a security update and i downloaded it and installed it and all is good then a few days after that i was on MSN chatting to a friend and the after maybe 30mins or so the net gave me a strange error saying that the remote computer as terminated the connection, after witch i reconnect with no problems, then maybe 30mins later it dose it again.......
I then had a look at my settings and i found a option that you tick...... Disconnect if idle for 30 mins but it is not on... i turned if off long time ago ... then i thought maybe it was msn... so i quit msn and played on the net for some time it did it again and again and again.
I am getting a little bit upset with it ...... i have phoned the company that host my internet but the is not problem with the service and if i tell the help desk there about the problem and tell them i have a iMac they think i am talking about a burger... sorry not a nice to say but not many people that work there know what a iMac is ...!!!!
please please can someone help me in anyway at all.... please ....?

OK so I tried to fix the problem myself....... I unplugged the modem and retyped all me settings again..... plugged back in and then tried again it looks like i might have worked..... you should try that...... i also phoned the iStore, Someone told me that i must go to my disk utilities and do something there but that got me a bit worried..... I don’t know iMac's all that well yet and don’t want to play with something i know nothing about........ but if that dose not work then i will phone her again and post what she tells me to do ...!!!

Ipod Touch internet stops working after 2.2.1

Hey everyone, for a while now, my internet has stopped working on my ipod touch. After the 2.2.1 firmware update, the internet just stopped. I decided to restore my ipod back the the 2.2.1 firmware and the internet started working again. Is there any solutions to getting it to work again for the 3.xx firmwares?

The only known problems with 3.x firmware and WiFi are related to old router firmware problems. There is nothing inherently wrong with the touch WiFi and the 3.x upgrade did little else than make the WiFi indicator more realistic and the need for up to date routers more important.
When you get ready to go to 3.x, update your router firmware or replace it with something newer.

Internet stops working after 10 mins and apps do not start correctly

Hi!
I can use my Macbook pro for ten minutes after I turned it on. Then the followings happens:
Safari crashes (also tried Chrome and Firefox) -> The loading bar does not complete and I cannot access any homepage.
Some apps like iTunes, Pages,... do not start completely. -> I click on the symbol, the white point beneath it appears but nothing more happens.
I hope that somebody can help me with it.

How are you accessing the internet? If by Airport, then what happens if you try ethernet?
It might be worth running the extended version of the Apple hardware test right after you lose connection to the internet. I'm wondering if you might have a problem of some sort with the airport card which is triggered by heat or something like that? If so, you might get an error code that would point to the problem.
Also try running SMART Utility to check out the physical health of your hard drive:

You can download the demo and run it several times for free. If your hard drive is going south, that could be a contributing factor to your other problems.
You have the early 2010 MBP? If so, you are still under the 1 year warranty, and if there is a hardware problem, it should be covered. Be sure to report your problem to Apple and get a case number before your warranty runs out so that if you do have hardware issues, they can be fixed under warranty. If you do not already have 3 year Applecare, consider getting it while you still can.

Internet stops working while still connected to wifi

The internet on my Macbook pro begins running slowing after using it for a while. But after restarting the computer it goes back to working fine. Using sites like tumblr cause it to go to crap even faster, and I'm assuming that's because of the constant reloading and processing of new things.
Searching through google pages excessively does the same thing. However, if I watch movies on netflix, or videos on youtube, the internet doesn't go to crap as quickly. When it finally does start running slower, the fan in my computer is running loudly. Pages on the internet refuse to load or load slowly.
The rest of the things on my computer work decently. This doesn't appear to be an issue with Kernel_Task. I'd appreciate any help. I really don't want to have to take in the computer, so I'm hoping it's something I can solve on my own

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Flash drive no longer works after being connected to a Windows XP machine.

After being opened on a Windows XP machine, the contents of my flash drive now shows up on my Macbook pro as a single .lnk file. What happened? It's MS-DOS (FAT32).
Is there any way out of this or has all my data been lost? I've never experienced this issue previously.

Thanks. I've now scanned it with both Sophos and ClamXav and both have come up negative for infection.
At least while the scan was running I could see that all my data is still there as the name of each file appeared as it was going through the scan.
My efforts to sort this out seem to have made things worse as now it opens up word whenever I try to see the contents. I'll try it on a PC tomorrow and see if I can figure out what happened. Looks like the file system has been damaged in some way.

Internet stopped working after update

i have had my blackberry for about 4 months, i am on a sim only contract which has blackberry internet, this morning i installed the blackberry desktop manager so i could update my blackberry from version 4.6 to 5.0, wouldnt let me do it from my blackberry, dont know why. After i did this everything was working fine but my app world had gone, so i downloaded it again and it was the new version, i noticed i could update bbm, so i tried to do this, i then went out to a area which doesnt have signal for orange, so the updates cancelled, when i got back in signal it was telling me to reboot my phone, do i did this, after i did this and it came back on the internet is no longer working, instead of GRPS it says GSM and when i go to services status it says blackberry internet not connected and i cant send bbms, use facebook or the internet, im really confused and dont understand what has happened,i have tried everything but nothing works, do i need to ring Orange?

If you are only getting GSM on your device then you are not getting a data connection. The best course of action is to contact your service provider for assistance.

Why don't my Keyboard and track pad work after being connected to Apple Thunderbolt Display?

I've run into this several times, after closing than unhooking the thunderbolt cables with an external usb keyboard and mouse hooked to the display, the keyboard and track pad no longer work on my macbook pro. I end up having to hard boot it (holding down power button). This seems like a glaring bug since I can reproduce this often.

so far during the re installation, the trackpad has already been ignored but the USB mouse still works so I don't know whats going to happen.

My Time Capsule has stopped working after I tried to configure an extended wifi network

My Time Capsule was working fine until I tried to configure it with an extended bridge. Now either the amber light is solid or the solid amber comes on for awhile and then goes completely out.
The AirPort Utility says that there is no internet connection, the DNS settings are wrong, and that the disk need to be repaired. Using Disk Utility, the Time Capsule does not even show up so that I can repair it.
I am running OSX 10.7.5, and besides the Time Capsule I have a Vonage Motorola (VT2442-VD) for VOIP, which of course is not working because it was connected behind the Time Capsule.
I'm in Italy and cannot call Apple directly since I now do not have phone service.
Any suggestions how I can check/repair the Time Capsule, and then configure it properly to my satellite broadband?

How old is the TC?? The LED should never go solid amber.. that indicates disk failure.
Or completely out.. that indicates power supply failure.
As a note you cannot extend wireless to a non apple wireless router... you can only plug in by ethernet and use the TC to create a wireless network.. this can have the same name as the main router,, same SSID in other words and same security but set to different channel..

On battery MBP won't go to sleep after being inactive for 5 minutes

Okay so in energy saver under system preferences, I have it setup so that the computer should go to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity when running on battery power. However multiple times I have left teh computer on battery only to come back in a few hours and the MBP was still on and not sleeping. I had itunes and safari open, but itunes wasn't playing any music. What does it take for the computer to be "inactive". Do I have to close all of my applications?

I have had similar issues with this. Seems the:
Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
Gets corrupted and must be trashed, reboot reset PRAM and reset your power management settings.
