Internet telephony application for 6110 navigator

I can see SIP settings in my handset but find cant the way to dial VOip calls as i am using a voip service which supports N95 and other E-series mobiles but there they are show an option in those sets of internet calls. Kindly please if anyone knows how can i make call with these sip setting using 3.5G network instead of using wifi
USMAN AZAM

This must be yet another of those phones where Nokia included the SIP stack (ie. what you need to register to a SIP server) but no front-end application to actually place and receive SIP calls. This is what caused the downfall of the N96 in many people's eyes.
There being no 3rd-party solution to use the built-in SIP stack, your only option at the moment is to use a full solution from a 3rd party such as fring. You register to that service and, in the add-ons, say that you want to use a SIP service. You then give the details of your provider, your login and password, and fring will register to that service and act as a proxy between it and you.
For now, there is no other solution.

  • Advice and Internet Software Applications for iBook G3?

Ok, So I did it late last night, or technically early this morning... I went and bought a Refurbished MacBook - Black 2.0GHz Core Duo with 512mb RAM (in 2x265 sticks which I am replacing with 2x1gb sticks purchased from TigerDirect at the same time) 80gb HDD, Superdrive, Built-in iSight, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and Airport Extreme. Basically the same as the new ones that they are selling except it is only a Core Duo and not Core2 Duo... Will get my AppleCare from LA Company (thanks Ronda for the link, they have great prices) in a month or 2 after testing out the MacBook and making sure I won't need to send it back...
Anyways, this post is not supposed to be about the bragging of the new laptop (due to arrive Tue or Wed, heh), but about finding some good mac software (hopefully freeware or shareware) to use for internet stuff on my old iBook G3, which I am giving to my roommate to use (he will use his desktop for most of his heavy speed/memory/graphics needs and the ibook as an extra mobile internet tool). Basically, he used to use a mac when he was married (an old power pc with OS9 on it) but once he moved out and got the big D, has used windows XP since then, and has never seen OSX at all I don't think, so he definitely hasn't used it before.
He mainly likes to browse web sites and use IRC (he uses mIRC) and watches the free streaming videos from sites like Yahoo... He seemed unsure whether he would find use of it (the ibook), but I am thinking it's because he doesn't know how much better it can be with OSX (10.2.8) than OS9...
So I am asking for help in a way to show some nice simple ways he could work it into his routine (while still using the desktop pc) and have it not be a hassle to "learn" and find programs he wants to use (in comparison to ones he has for windows). Again, this will be for lighter applications because of the 500 MHz speed (has 576mb RAM).
He (unlike me) does not use Mozilla Firefox and therefore does not use its extentions and themes and other add-ons, but sticks to IE7 (which is crazy), but I think it is more out of laziness to try something new and to have to go and add on the extentions (compared to if they are built-in to the browser). So since I never had much experience using the different web browsers for mac, which ones would be most like IE, I know Firefox is available for macs, are there any that are simple basic, but could have things added on to it or customized more (yes, I know I am describing Firefox)?
Also, if wanting to use an application for music, but you wanted it to be smaller than the size of iTunes (and not need as much memory while running it), is there one you would say to go for? Any good mac IRC programs (not messenger things but specific to the IRC protocol)? Ones that have additional scripts you can run for them (he is really into that, he uses Excursion 9.5 alot too)?
I do not want to throw the iBook at him and say here, use it, and walk away, and I also don't want to go and show him every little thing that it does, but want to just find some programs that he might actually use on it right away, and ease himself into using the ibook on a regular basis (I would install everthing for him, and set up all the system preferences and if he actually keeps on using the ibook, I will give him little "lessons" on how to change things, install stuff etc). I threw myself into my ibook as that is what I tend to do with anything electronic and tech like (I am the biggest tech geek around), but I know that alot of others can't do the same and need to slowly learn how to swim in the mac pool, with those floaty arm band things and floating kickboards and all...
Any advise on how to do this for someone that I know would end up loving the ibook and OSX for more basic stuff, but just needs that gentle nudge in the right direction and the right kind of software to make him feel comfortable using it, would be greatly appreciated.
And yes, if he doesn't want to use it after that nudge, I will back off and take it back to sell (or just have a 3rd laptop hanging around, but then I will feel like the old lady with an apartment full of laptops -and other lonely tech gear).

Some people use VLC for watching video, but, in my experience, you are not going to get good streaming video on a 500 MHz iBook.
Shut down all other applications and maybe even restart the iBook before trying to watch YouTube or whatever. I've not had much success with it. (You are talking about a 5½-year-old computer, after all.)
I don't even know what IRC is. It sounds like it's a chat client? If so, iChat works great for me. It uses the AIM protocol.
I would stick with Apple applications. I prefer Safari as my web browser, but Firefox would probably be my second choice. Camino is good. Other browsers out there are iCab, Opera, and OmniWeb, and I may be forgetting some of them. Safari is the one that comes with OS X, and it's my pick over all the others. Once he gets used to tabbed browsing, he will wonder what he ever saw in Explorer (and I was a die-hard Internet Explorer fan, too).
I know of no better music app for a Mac than iTunes. Just so simple.

  • Internet security applications for XP - which one?

I'm about to do boot camp and add XP. Once I've turn the machine into a windows PC I'll need to have some anti-virus, firewall and all that. Don't trust XP's own offering.
Which is the most compatible internet security application when using Boot Camp and/or VMware Fusion? Has anyone got an 'avoid this' recommendation?
    Thanks for any ideas.

For 10 yrs I've said, "avoid Norton" but I have to admit that Norton Internet Security 2008 really is good, a complete ground-up rewrite and works very well and I'm not even aware it is there unless I want to. Working.
AVG Suite was annoying, in your face, and why I had to find a replacement. It just bogs system down and always asking or telling you and wants to put a notification up (which goes away after 30 seconds).

Do not utilize more than one (1) real-time anti-virus scanning engine.
Disable the e-mail scanning function during installation (Custom

A clarification on the terminology: the word "malware" is short for
"malicious software." Most Anti-Virus applications detect many types of
malware such as viruses, worms, trojans, etc.
What AV applications usually don't detect is "non-viral" malware, and the

  • An internet phone application for a Snow Leopard Mac Mini

The Mac Mini which I purchased , used , because it satisfied the Phone Valet software requirements , plus maintaining usability coordinating as much of the former G5's conformity as one might hope . The folks who provided the Phone Valet device stopped writing for it in the early summer of 2011 .
The Mac Mini is running well
      Model Name:                Mac mini
      Model Identifier:            Macmini2,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:          2 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          1
      Total Number Of Cores:          2
      L2 Cache:          4 MB
      Memory:          2 GB
      Bus Speed:          667 MHz
The telephone upgrade was up next , and for that we entertained a Gigaset SL78h as a beautiful and portable choice for keeping the computer to telephone compatabiility open via the Phone Valet software & hardware application .
The USB port on the Gigaset SL78h is advertised as a microsoft written port . This was unfortunately a swing and a miss in the guess work that assumed (guessed) a discoverable compatability of the Snow Leopard system with a usb ported , configured , handset .
I am presently interested in discovering how to bring the Gigaset SL78h handsets beyond the Mac OSX Preferences recognition in "Network" as a Modem . What can allow Snow Leopard to recognise the device into the informational cognisance , sharing of Address Book , and Phone Valet call monitoring activities enjoyed by the previous system which when hooked up directly with the Phone Valet to computer compiled all the activity nice and neatly .
I am paying "Vonage" for the access to my number and connections to other numbers via the internet in packets . The phone uses a Verizon FIOS connection through a combined Verizon modem and a Zytel Prestige 861 . With one other "Vonage" provided Motorola device , plus an Airport extremes ports for access which used to be read by the G5 via the Phone Valet hardware . Seems the data is either bypassed or unread by OSX's Snow Leopard , or I have hooked it up in new and unusual ways .
Having a similar successul setup would be inspirational over here . Moral is steady but could be improved with an application which could talk to both the Gigaset SL78h and the Address and Phone Valet applications , or a recognition of a correct sequence of hardware connections .
In all cases thank you for bearing with me this long , and if able to provide a hint to the correct direction to take for success , a thousand thanks .

For your stated goal, network-attached storage (NAS) or an always-on Mac client would be a simpler solution. Either preferably with RAID, and with provisions and storage for periodic archives.
A Mac OS X Server box is overkill. The Mac client boxes have 10-client sharing.
If you want single-signon and shared directory services and mail and web and various of the other pieces and services that are available within, then you can grow into a Mac OS X Server box.
A server is rather more to manage, regardless of what you choose. You're getting DNS and networking and other core pieces, minimally, and you're also responsible for many of the configuration settings and services and details that a client box receives from a server box. And you're definitely dealing with protections and such across multiple boxes.
For some other perspectives, there are various previous discussions of this posted around the forums. A search that includes NAS should kick over a few of these; this is a typical low-end alternative to running a server.

  • Viewranger or Tracker for 6110 Navigator

    Hi,
I was looking for outdoors GPS maps, and I´ve found until now this both programs.
Does anyone know them to advise me which is better?
    Thank you.
P.S. I wrote same post on: Nseries & Smartphones, sorry for duplicity!

Thank you scoobyman for your reply.
Do you know the other program from www.tracker.fi called mynavigator? This has more maps for several countries.
I will use it now in Finland for a trip, but later on I will most use it in Spain. Mynavigator has got a one month license which is good for trial.
Difference between both programs is that in Viewranger you buy directly the maps you are interested and in Mynavigator you download them via GPRS. But perhaps the handle of the programs and the clearness of maps makes the real difference between both, I just don´t know.
Sorry but I didn´t well understand your last sentence:
" If you change device obstacles are not placed for re-activating software unlike one of the major players in this field! "
    Thanks for advise!

  • Share online 3.0 for Nokia 6110 Navigator

Is there a possibility to get Share online 3.0 (or older verisons for nokia 6110 Navigator)
    Thanks in advance,
    Mokic

Try to download a version for another model with a similar operating system (like the N95) and see if it installs.
    Get it here: http://europe.nokia.com/A4388352
If it doesn't install then it is not compatible with your model. This is because it's a feature designed for N series phones.

  • How to secure BSP applications for external users on the internet?

I posted this question under Enterprise Portal forum but got no response. I am hoping some of you experts in this area can help.
We have developed BSP applications and set them up as iViews in Enterprise Portal 6. Our portal implementation will be used by external users.
We have security concerns that the access to the BSPs  allows external users direct access to the R/3 system. We were told that we should use ITS application instead of BSP application for external users.
Do any of you have any insight into how we could work around the security problem with BSP applications, or BSP applications in EP6? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

In sense they are correct as to whether it is more secure or not would have to be a call by people who are more of an expert than myself.
But I can see there point the BSP runs directly on the system and uses the system security where as the ITS is basically just an RFC call. However for us we use a 620 server with BSP's and make RFC calls to our R/3 systems thus keeping people of the R/3 directly - however we are not opened to the Internet.

  • Why my internet banking application works in Firefox 21 and 22 in Win version but not in Mac version? There is also no issue for Firefox 20 or earlier in Mac.

There is a workaround. When I use private window, my internet banking application can work as per normal. This is unlike in the past where it can work in normal window in Firefox 20 or earlier in Mac.

Private windows do not have your site-specific history of cached files and cookies. So, you could try this in a normal window:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r (MAC: Command+Shift+r) to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
(WIN) orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced<br>
(MAC) Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Nokia 6110 Navigator 5.11 Buglist

Nokia, after a year of no support for the Nokia 6110 Navigator despite many bugs, please readd firmware-update-support in Nokia software updater, and fix those bugs remaining in the firmware 5.11 installed by most Nokia service centers since July 2008:
1- when alarm is set to workdays "monday-to-friday" (or whatever 5 day-period) the date on the phone doesn't change on saturday night. On sundays it still shows saturday although the time is correct, and the alarm doesn't work till the date is reset and then everything goes normal till the next sunday when the problem happens again.
2- No matter if you use the original Nokia Sound recorder or third party software, all the recordings have a loud crack sound in the beginning.
3-Volume +/- does not function while playing games.
4- Dual line 32kb sim cards fail to switch to the second line and resets the phone when switched to the second line.
5-Line 1 ringtone and Line 2 ringtone options in profiles disappear for no reason although using a dual line.
6-Deleted numbers in Logs->Recent Calls-> missed/received/dialled logs still remain in the log list view which shows coloured arrows.
7-Even if the sent message history is turned off, the numbers which were sent messages are still shown in the log list shown with arrows.
8- Numbers dialed/received calls list occasionally clears if phone turned off
9- If the phone gets connected to computer over usb cable, and used once on pc suite mode and then once in the data transfer mode, then the vibration is disabled until you reboot the phone. (Settings suggest the vibration is on, but in fact it is simply turned off)
10- On the internet bookmarks view, (accessed through the web icon) if a bookmark is deleted or moved to a different folder they are still shown in the root until the application is closed and re-opened. And if tried to open them by mistake the phone responds "it doesn' exist".
11- If you conect the phone to Nokia software updater by usb cable in pc sync mode, then connect it by data-transfer-mode, all your own created folders including moved icons will be lost and reset to default.
12-It's not possible to use voice dial with voice synthesis turned on.
13- No flash lite 3.0 support
14- If a memo is set or synchronised from outlook the memo still shows on the screen even if the date has been passed.
15- If we try to change the date of a past memo by changing both the start and end date to a future date the phone gives an odd error message that says: "Alarm time already passed" What alarm time? There's no alarm option or alarm time field in memos.
16- The phone occasionally shuts down completely (turns itself off) without any warning for some users.
17- Nokia CK 7W bluetooth carkit and other carkits from other companies (for example Funkwerk-Dabendorf Audio2000 with Bluetooth Adapter version 2) have an echo problem where the remote person hears its own voice and a terrible echo. This seems to be due to the fact, that inbuild microphone on the phone is not turned of completely.
18- While entering a new phone number after typing the number a phone type is selected such as telephone, mobile, work mobile etc.If selected the wrong type there is no way to change tis type unless the number is deleted and re-entered which is a hassle.
19- If there are more than one mobile numbers assigned for a contact as "mobile" type (like mentioned above) set default option does not work.
20- The bluetooth A2DP quality has gone worse. It is skip-happy, and degrading of audio quality is very obvious.
21- If any mp3s have embedded images in the id3 tag, which are not quite square (e.g. 194pxls by 197pxls in one of my files), the music will play, but the phone will almost totally lock up if you try to use another application, and the album art won't show at all.
22- Notes in the organiser on the phone cannot be synchronised with the PC via Nokia PC Suite(Outlook 2003).
23- Music Player on the phone finds "zero" audio files when connected to Nokia Suite via USB.
24- If a call is made while connected to a bluetooth carkit (CK 7W in my case) the latest number dialed won't appear in the logs.
25- When navigating in the standard "Nokia Navigator" Route66 application, if the display mode with all info at the bottom (the only mode that display ETA) is set the phone normally remembers this mode between sessions. When signal is lost (typically after a tunnel), the display mode is reset back to default. Please add the newest Route66 updates! As easy as that! Route66 already released 3 new official updates during this time.
26- If an internet connection is established via the browser and closed, the internet connection stays on constantly until the battery is very hot and voltage is drained only if the e-mail update (push e-mail) is set to "ON".
27-The streaming mode is problematic. An H.264 video encoded in 320x240 resolution could be watched full screen in the streaming mode in the previous firmware however the phone will freeze within 1 or 2 seconds after switching from the standard window size to full screen size after 4.22 if watched during streaming.
28- Real Player(Or music player) doesn't update the playlist unless the phone is not restarted.
29- For some of the users some videos start with the first frame and then shows a black screen for a while and then the video plays normally. (DivX Avi files?)
30- System startup dramatically slows up if using a HCSD memory card.
31- Sound cracks occur in high bit rate mp3's if using an HCSD memory card.
32- The flash provides such an artificial colour tone to the picture which makes the picture looks almost blue or green in all cases.
33- If a user decides to use an alternative navigation software he/she should be able to remap the dedicated navigator button to the executeable of the 3rd party software.
34- Sometimes Nokia Navigator-Program is unable to get a satfix, even if satellite-signal is good enough (3 satellites and more above 70% signal-strength). You have to restat the program to get a satfix. Also new Nokia Navigator/Route66-mobile8-version would fix this problem.
35- When you receive via bluetooth a file with an "unknown extension", there is no way to open the message that contains the attached file and, therefore, there is no way to save the file itself.
There are certainly more bugs, those ones are the ones found by a few customers, the most obvious ones, that keep us nagging since a year now. It seems, you are not testing your phones, as bug #1 (alarm-clock) for example is obvious and was not fixed since the release of the phone.

And I'd like to add these remaining ones from our other threads..
36- When listening to music on the handset and a call comes through, the sound switches to Mono after you hang up and the music resumes playing. And the only way to restore stereo sound is to restart the phone.
37-6110 keeps showing alot of devices in the "send to" bluetooth menu that was paired with and deleted long ago.
38-Joystick press can be used for accepting commands at all areas except for messaging. When message is ready to be sent you cannot click joystick and send message. You need to select options and send and then choose select from the menu.

  • 6110 Navigator - doesn't see other BT devices

This is really starting to give me the sh*ts.
I cannot see any other bluetooth devices with my 6110 Navigator, even when the other device is 5cm away.
I recently purchased a "Pilot-mini" BT hands-free (think similar to Blue Ant "Lite") and my 6110 can't see it, even if it's right next to it.
Checked (& rechecked) that I was trying to pair the two as per the instructions, both from Nokia & Cellnet (hands-free manufacturer) but phone won't see/recognise the hands-free unit.
Have tried pairing with a different BT hands-free - same result. I can't even pair with another mobile with BT. The other mobile has to establish connection, as mine can't/wont see it.
Any ideas anyone? Something is really screwy with this.

The very first thing I would do is Plug in anything you want to use and restart your machine and see if everything is there now.  Sometimes you should be able to just plug in a peripheral device and it will or should automatically show up on your desktop. Often a simple restart will solve the issue. I have found that if you have several different Applications open they will not show up on your desktop, and require a restart to get things back to normal.
Good Luck and tell me if this works for you,
    Welcome to the Discussions

  • Can't set ringtone on 6110 Navigator

I have a problem with my new (1 month old) 6110 Navigator. If I go to the Profiles customization and click on "Ringing tone" or "Video call tone", etc., it shows an "Opening" dialog with a progress bar... and stays there indefinitely.
I can't do anything at this point except to use the end call key to quit the application or menu key to switch tasks.
This actually also happens if I try to use the Gallery for pictures.
I can set a voice call ring tone via the music player's menu option, but this does not let me set my message tone or browse pictures.
The Music Library in the music player seems to work, but only includes mp3s and m4as.
Occasionally when I try to do this (more often recently), it also displays a box during the "Opening" dialog: Application closed: MGX DB work thread0 USER 11
then: Application closed: ContentListingFrame workServer MGXDatabase 3
A google of these errors pulls up a single chinese website.
My phone is fairly stock, only installed a handful of things like the Nokia Sports Tracker, some games and other java apps.
The phone is actually a Taiwanese model (includes traditional chinese input/display) - firmware is updated to 3.58, though I think the problem existed before I updated but am not sure.
Has anyone seen anything like this on an S60v3 phone?

I did some more experimenting and it looks like my card had some corrupt filesystem entries. I was still using the 512M card that came with the phone. After doing a disk check on windows and repairing some problems on it, it was working better, but still sometimes had problems. I ended up just formatting the card and reinstalling the stuff I had. This solved the problem completely, though I lost the data files for a dictionary program that came preinstalled (Chinese-English) and it doesn't seem to be on the installation disc.

  • 6110 Navigator: Missing videos after closing camer...

    Hello.
I was shooting some video scene, and in a rush, closed the sliding cover before pressing the "STOP" button. I thought that would save the captured video as well, but alas, the video file could not be found at all in the memory card. Pretty sad.
Does anyone have similar experience and a way to recover the unsaved videos (.mp4)? I have tried some pretty strong flashdisk recovery utils and only those files I have purposely deleted, can be seen and recovered.
Which led me to think - where does Nokia store the video cache, while shooting a video AND before saving it. Or does it write to the actual .mp4 file while shooting?
    Thanxs for all your help.
    Regards,
    Roger

I travelled for 4 hours yesterday, used the GPS maybe 20 minutes in total, and it crashed more than 10 times within this timeframe...
    I'm running latest firmware version 03.58 (20-06-07)
I have a 2GB memory card, and have used Route66 sync to backup original card (Nordic maps), formattet new card in phone, and then restored original map with Route66sync. Also purchased maps "Eastern Europe" + Alps from Route66shop.
Both Alps and Eastern Europe maps crashes all the time. Havent testet Nordic maps yet.
I can provoke the crash by running "simulate route". The phone is then not moved at all. Simulation works OK for a random number of seconds, and then crash.
Any idea how this can be fixed?
And until I get it fixed, does it exist an S60 utility which let the phone redetect the memory card? I'm so fed up of turning the phone off/on or removing/reinserting the memory card now...

    Hi There,
I have similar problem. The application crashes when I select "show on map" or try to navigate to any new destinations. When an old landmark is selected "show on map" works as well as navitation.
I have the latest software update and reloaded the maps. Is there a way to reload the application?
    Thanks,
    Ferdie

  • Using podcasts on Nokia 6110 Navigator

Hi, Im interested in listening to podcasts on my 6110 Navigator, I've found the Podcasting software at the blog but it only seems to be able to update directly over the internet, is there any way to set up my PC so that I can update the podcasts on my phone automatically via bluetooth or USB cable?
I think the podcasting software is designed for people with unlimited data plans or phones with wifi built in, but I just thought I'd check.
Thanks for any help offered in advance.
    Richard.

People im talking about 6110 which have faster cpu than n73, n91 etc (same cpu as nokia N95; and 95 can record at 30fps).
We get it, and to my knowledge's best: IT WONT BE POSSIBLE.
Is that CPU all the thing?
It is the integrated camera module, camera chip, hardware and the software to be considered of.Message Edited by korngear on 24-Oct-200712:13 PM

Just one question for you guys, why do you prefer 6110 over N95?
N95 has a better camera, and it has WiFi as well. All at a considerably higher price (+ $300).
Apart from that, 6110 offers mostly the same features. The battery lasts longer, and the use of GPS is much faster. No extra costs for downloading of maps or subscription for the use of GPS.
Try to check out the difference between 6110 which uses Route 66 maps, and N95 which uses Nokia Maps.
I also highly recommend you to read phone reviews on the internet, e.g. by entering "Nokia N95"+review (or test) in a search engine.
