Internet, Tv and phone issues Comcast cannot solve

We've had poor internet service from Comcast for 6-8 months. It has been getting progressively worse and then our phone service (Comcast) started going out. Sometimes the internet would be 45mps download, and for no reason it would drop to 2 or less. On July 4th, the tech came out as internet and phone were out. Original tech missed the appointment window, so new tech was 1.5 hours past latest scheduled time. He replaced the modem and an inside splitter. Same issues. New tech a week or so later. Changes modem again. Tells me that he knows he'll be back, that our area has "some major issues" going on and they cannot figure them out. He recommended X1 Platform and says that maybe that will help. Order X1. Tech says that cable connection has a broken connecter, replaces it. Next day, cable freezes and internet goes out. On Friday, Comcast doesn't show up for scheduled appointment. I called and was told that there was a service outage in our area and that they send techs to fix that, which should fix our issues. Why didn't they call me so I could go to work instead of waiting? "Oh, they should have, we understand your frustration, we're sorry." Talk to Serge, a manager, and tell him that it's still not fixed. Sent a new tech today. Said cable from street to home had serious issues and that cable from outside to in the home was damaged and had water inside it. He also made reference to our area having issues. When he leaves he states that his reading is "green 2", which is good, but not as good as green 0. Also said that we were red-12 when he arrived. Went to close the ticket and said that it couldn't be closed as there is another outage in our area and said that it is a mainline issue. Hard wired connection is now less than 3mbps....always happens between 7-11 PM. Has anyone else had these issues? I feel like telling Comcast to refund my last six months and switching to an alternate provider. Anybody else been thru this?

  • Broadband and phone issues

    Any had this problem... Every 6 to 10mins phone stops working and Internet drops off. 3rd engineer coming on Fri and between Bt and Sky keep blaming each other. 3rd week of poor service. Can't ring Sky off landlinre as keeps going dead. So far new router, microfiltet, 2 new white bt boxes and still no one can solve the problem. Customer service from Sky not been great either... Any ideas????

    I just got off the phone with Yahoo. There my hosting server.
    My web site works fine in Firefox and Safari but no joy in internet
    explorer or netscape. Yahoo can't find a problem with my site. My
    movies don't work and I need them for my site. I even link the
    movie examples thru Youtube because of people having problems
    downloading Quicktime. Can someone tell me what I'm missing.

  • ITunes Internet Proxy and Authentication Issues

    I downloaded iTunes 11.1.3.8 for my windows which is usually connected to my company internet which requires Proxy setting (and Username and Password). My first run of the software showed a box for Username and Password for the authentication but it didn't verify ( maybe based on a mistake and the box dissapeared) I cannot find it to fill in the authentication detail anymore. Any help? Thank you.

    Your solution seem to work.
    Here is what I did,
    Earlier there was no keychain entry for https, so I ignored . When I manually created same proxy keychain with https for both login and system keychains and restarted the machine, it started to work like charm.

  • How do I get internet and phone to cabin in garden...

    I have built a cabin about 90' away from my house in the garden. How can I get an internet connection and phone line
    to the cabin? I have a router in the house but it gives a weak signal down that far. Can one run a phone line down and use this for the internet? What kind of wire? Etc!

    The simplest solution if you don't mind running cables is to run a long phone extension, and a long ethernet cable for the broadband.  If the cables will be exposed to the elements, make sure you get exterior grade cables.
    Phone line would just be the normal twisted pair phone cable.  Ethernet would be Cat5e or Cat6.

    The services you listed in your post will require a data plan which is provisioned by your wireless provider. You may want to contact your wireless provider to see if you have the correct plan.

    A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
    Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
    Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
    Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
    If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

    Then:
    Does the iOS device connect to other networks? See other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
    Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iOS device connect before?
    Try the following to rule out a software problem:                
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
    .- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network      
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    Thanks for taking the time to detail that. I think I have it, but I have a few things to clarify.
    1. This negates the need for the Westell Series3 9100EM, because, the "router" mentioned in the line "Hook an Ethernet cable from the ONT to the router's WAN jack" is the Apple Extreme Base Station (or other suitable router), right?
    2. I haven't got the TV portion of FIOS service, although I may add that at some point, so in my case the COAX to NIM (and the NIM for that matter) aren't needed, right?
    I see a couple of issues. One, I have COAX run for the current connection. And, two, Verizon would need to come out again to do the CAT5 configure. Can the CAT5 run be that long and still be effective? Maybe the Westell router could be used to extend the wireless network? And, if FIOS TV is added could it be used in place of the NIM (since I already have the COAX and the Westell at the back of the TV)?
    Regardless, I REALLY appreciate your help. On a side note, it's interesting that the NIM takes both the COAX and CAT5.

    The question about Firefox not printing directly from the Internet has been asked before-but no useful solutions have been offered. It came up in 2010 and was under discussion until Jan 30 when it was locked.. I would like to re open the issue to further discussion or be notified by Firefox that they cannot solve it.

    call them, tell them you NEED a new battery installed, and they need to tell you when they can do it.  That is their job to help you! Give pushback if necessary.

  • Why Internet (Safari) and Comcast High Speed at odds with each other?

    I have Comcast high speed internet and I am paying for the upgraded speed.
    problem is, Comcast and my computer don't speak very well to each other and there is a MASSIVE slow down on the internet.
    The Comcast guy said there is some "patch" I can download and make these two finally get along.

    ...they said it was a Mac issue since no one else in my neighborhood was having the problem. Oh and clean out my cache files.
    When I've had this problem with Comcast, it has affected both my Mac and my PC. With that and other things I've learned about this problem, I'm not sure I'd believe what the tech told you.
    Why does it happen on some Macs and not others?
    I'm not certain, but since the problem is apparently caused by something in the process of dynamically feeding you the necessary DNS addresses, there are several possibilities. In some cases, it's probably related to what Comcast market you're in (and therefore what Comcast DNS servers you're using). It might have to do how the Comcast-provided modem passes the addresses on. It might have to do with ones router (if you have one) and whether it's passing on the DNS addresses to the computers in your house properly. And it could also have something to do with issues with the particular computer, although my own experience with 3+ computers in my house (1 PC, 2+ Macs) indicates this isn't the situation, at least in my case.
    There are a lot of factors in this. The only thing I know for certain is that it affects many Comcast customers across the country and that for many of us, only using alternate DNS addresses solves the problem. Talking with people more knowledgeable about these things than I am, I gather that this is a widespread problem that Comcast does not address very effectively or helpfully. :-|
