Internet usage disabled 5800 maps?

when using my old maps
(not free, can't update to the new free version as 3 in the UK have an old software - not that I'm bitter about that)
if I try to go on line I get the message - internet usage disabled
I can access the internet fine in any other application - -any clues anyone please ???

Has anyone got a solution for this issue? I had my first n97 arrive on monday, today I had to swap it as it didnt work properly. I have got to grips with my new one and upgraded things when prompted, everything seems to be working perfectly except when i got to ovi maps.
Ovi maps worked fine on the frist n97 handset but not a lot else did. on this new handset its just ovi maps with the above problem, when I go into maps it says no internet connection and propmpts me to select 'go online' i do that and get the message 'internet usage disabled'
Ive tried all of the above except the GPRS/EGDE thing as I cannot find that anywhere on the phone.
Any help is appriciated as its been a long week trying to get n97s to work

Recently upgraded phone software and maps - everything works fine except when activating Ovi Maps at which point I'm prompted to 'Go online'  which when prompted, the  phone confirms no internet connection - tools online - and I get the message on screen Internet Usage disabled.
Everything else installed on the phone works fine - including all the internet related software, email , facebook etc
Appreciate that others may be having same problem as we carried out same upgrades on second phone in the house last night and................Same problem

  • Unable to view my Internet Usage

Hi, I am unable to see my internet usage from last one month. I called customer heldesk 5 times. Every time they gave me one new ref# but still no result. Any one can suggest that where I can escalate this issue?

    SINHA7766,
I apologize for the delayed response. @BruceW has given you the correct websites to check your usage for the month. I have also sent you a private message to further assist you.
You can click on my name (Comcastcares) and click on "Private Message Me”.
At the top of each Forum page you will see a small envelope
This is the icon for Private Messages, referred to as ‘PM’s’. A Private Message is a way to communicate in private, to another User, Moderator, or Administrator out of public view in the Forums.
The gray envelope icon will have a number next to it if you have any new messages waiting.
To open a PM to read it, double click on the envelope. If you click on the white envelope a window will open with tabs for your Private Message Inbox, Sent Messages, Friends, Ignored Users, and Compose new Message. • Internet Usage Gone Amok!

Hi all (and Tesserax if you're online, you know the history of my problem!). I am posting this here because I can't find another forum which seems appropriate.
Short version: for two weeks we've been aware that our internet usage has been exceeding our use. We have two iMacs networked in a small office, both are running Snow Leopard.
We have tried eliminating what we thought the issue was - namely that someone had hijacked our wireless somehow.  So: we installed a new D-Link router (which is WPA encrypted AND then the entire wireless radio disabled), and we have a new cable modem from our ISP, along with a new virus program (Intego Virus Barrier X6). We scanned both computers and Intego found one virus (a file called 1024.dmg which had been on one of our computer's hard drives since 2008!) and one attempted port scan, which was blocked. Other than that, there has been no suspicious activity reported.
I called an Intego technician who assured me that their software would catch anything out of the ordinary and so therefore it can't be anything on our computers. The Intego guy said that only a trojan would be capable of doing something like this, but again, VirusBarrier would catch that. Also Interesting to note: it's the downloads that are extraordinary, while the uploads are consistent with our day to day business.
Even with all of these things up and running, we're still experiencing spikes in our internet use that has us and our ISP puzzled. Two days in the past month we weren't even in the office at all and there were 6 gigabyte spikes on record!  However, our computers were on, but in deep sleep mode.  Something fishy...could someone be hacking in even with our computers in sleep mode????
My ISP mentioned that they have a client who's son let their bit torrent open and someone was downloading off of their internet access, running up the father's bill to $900. From what I understand, bit torrent is a P2P protocol. We don't do ANY file sharing that isn't between the two computers on our LAN.
is there any way that someone can get in that way?  On my computer, I have file sharing, printer sharing and scanner sharing enabled.
Oh - and we thought that maybe our ISP's usage tracking was off, so for three days we unplugged our ethernet cable to test. Then we checked the usage for those three days and there was nothing.  So something is definitely happening on our end, but we're beside ourselves trying to figure this out! I am wondering if anyone can assit me here.  Tesserax has been very kind in offering suggestions - if you have any more, I'd appreciate it!
    thanks
    B.

    Hi Tesserax.
Already did it: the numbers are a combined total from both computers.
Further to me posting that last note, I did some online research and found scores of complaints on different internet forums commenting on the exact same problem I've had AND with the same ISP.  There is a general consensus that their internet meter is faulty.
AND: I found articles where Bell has actually admitted to having faulty metering.  So this is nothing new.  What irks me is that the earliest post I found is from 2009 and no one at my ISP even mentioned that this could be the issue!  Nor does it seem that they're in any hurry to rectify the problem.
In some cases, their numbers are astronomical - 56gb per day even!
At least it's not on my end and that we don't have a hacker, which was my real concern.
But worth posting in case others come across the same issue and think, like me, that someone is stealing their wireless.
Anyway, thanks again for all your help.
    B.

  • Does Using Co Pilot use up my internet usage

Hi if I use my CoPilot software on my iphone when I am abroad does it use up my internet usage - ie does it cost me money !! Or is it like a Sat Nav that does not use internet and so is free to use ??
Also what about Google Maps, does that use up Mb's ??
    thanks

CoPilot will not use the internet to display the maps, BUT it will use the internet for the other services it provides which need data to update. Not sure how much it will use, but it will be some.
Google Maps uses the internet to download everything including maps, it is a BIG data user.

  • Doing a 30 minute video created 15 Gigabyte of Internet usage. Why? And how can I stop this!

Created a small, simple 30 minute video. Burned a few CDs. Downloaded one (1) sound track (a few MB). Internet usage soared to an unbelievable 15 GB!
All data, files, etc on my PC, yet Premiere Elements used the Internet constantly, especially when burning CDs.
Why? There was nothing to upload or download (except 1 sound track). This maxed my Internet allowance, and has cost me a lot of cash for extra capacity.
How can I stop this data gluttony.
Or do I have to junk a new, expensive program? (Premiere Elements 13.

    Contacted support.
They say that this is 'impossible'!!!
Went for Option 2. Accept one-time waste of Internet capacity. Write it off to painful experience. Junked Premiere Elements 13.
    Problem solved.

Additionally are they able to monitor apps and usage, ie Internet usage when it is not on their wifi?
I do not have any VPN enabled?

Do you happen to have an Android?  If so and depending on what version there is a great data usage analyse tool built-in.  See if you can go to Settings -> Data Usage  from there you can pick a current or previous billing cycle and then use the vertical sliders to select a date range and it will filter the usage data per app to show you exactly what app(s) were using data during that time frame.

  • Home Sharing - Internet Usage

Will Home Sharing have any effect on my internet usage (data) at all? If so, how much will it use?

    Short Answer: No
    Long Answer:
Home Sharing uses your WiFi around the house. So, for example, assuming your router is a wireless one and your Mac and iDevices use your private WiFi, then setting up home sharing means your iDevices, or your AppleTV, or any sound-system connected to your WiFi network via Apple Airport Express, will be able to share the Media library in iTunes on your Mac.
ie: Whilst at home, in the garden, assuming your wifi extends into your garden, you can listen to any of the music that's on your Mac, through your iPod Touch. Or even watch a movie that you downloaded to your Mac, on your TV (with Apple TV). All wirelessly.
To turn on Home Sharing, you'll need to enter you Apple ID and your password in iTunes on your Mac (Advanced>Turn on Home Sharing) and then do the same on any other device you which to have home sharing too.
    Hope that helps.

  • We've just bought 2 iPads and seen our home internet usage nearly treble! (But our browsing habits haven't changed) Coincidence or unrelated? Any help gratefully received

We've just bought 2 iPads and seen our home internet usage nearly treble! (But our browsing habits haven't changed) Coincidence or unrelated? Any help gratefully received

"Our browsing habits haven't changed" - with all due respect, unless you have kept a diary or other record of specific internet activity, you have no way of knowing that. And you make no mention of what was used prior to the iPads to do this, so it would be difficult to make any kind of comparison.
Not only the browsers, but any number of apps on the iPads also access the internet.
You might want to check location services, and potentially turn it off for any apps that really don't need it. Likewise check you mail set up and reduce reliance on Push (I have mine set to strictly manual, but more to reduce interruptions than reducing internet usage)

  • How to check Internet usage userwise in Active Directory ?

How to check Internet usage userwise in Active Directory ? Without third party software is it possible ?
Thanks & Regards, Amol . Amol Dhaygude

    Hi,
    Thanks for your comment.
The schema is the Active Directory component that defines all the objects and attributes that the directory service uses to store data.
Active Directory stores and retrieves information from a wide variety of applications and services. So that it can store and replicate data from a potentially infinite variety of sources, Active Directory standardizes how data is stored in the directory. By
standardizing how data is stored, the directory service can retrieve, update, and replicate data while ensuring that the integrity of the data is maintained.
The directory service uses objects as units of storage. All objects are defined in the schema. Each time that the directory handles data, the directory queries the schema for an appropriate object definition. Based on the object definition in the schema, the
directory creates the object and stores the data.
Object definitions control the types of data that the objects can store, as well as the syntax of the data. Using this information, the schema ensures that all objects conform to their standard definitions. As a result, Active Directory can store, retrieve,
and validate the data that it manages, regardless of the application that is the original source of the data. Only data that has an existing object definition in the schema can be stored in the directory. If a new type of data needs to be stored, a new object
definition for the data must first be created in the schema.

  • Does Safari use up bandwidth if I leave it running in the background with zero tabs open?  Do I have to quit the application each time I am done to avoid exceeding my internet usage/host quota?

If I leave Safari running in the background with zero tabs open, does it still use up bandwidth?  Do I have to quit the application each time I am done to avoid exceeding my internet usage/host quota?  I'd rather not have to since quitting the application and restarting it when I need to will quickly become tedious, but if that saves me on bandwidth usage, I'll do it.  Thanks!

  • 3.2 gigs of mobile internet usage in one day?

    Hello,
Problem: Got my phone bill. 500 Australia Dollars. Phoned my provider. They say internet usage. On the 30th November, I used 3.2 gigs of internet. That's double my monthly allowance.
    So... how is this possible?
First up, I'm not iPhone inept. I'm very cautious with my usage. I have wireless internet at home so I only go on the mobile network when I leave the house. 30th of November I went to work, where I can't use my phone, and came home.
I set everything to not download using mobile networks (podcasts specifically). I've had my phone for 6 months and I've never had a problem with this. I've never downloaded anything more 200megs in a day.
I went to my App history and found the only app I had downloaded that day, was Whatsapp... which I had deleted and reinstalled. (Could it be that?)
My service provider can't give me specific details regarding what was downloaded that day... because they say it would be invading my privacy.
My question is, how do I find out what I was doing that day? My Safari history doesn't go that far back on my phone. And it can't be that.
It must be an app. It can't be location services or anything like that, because it happened in one day... 3.2 gigs in one day. And of that one day I was home for half of it.
Please help me. There must be a way to track exactly what usage was used that day, and from where... 3.2 gigs is madness. It can't be right.
    I have an iPhone 4S.
    Thanks,
    Ryan
