Where did you see the memory usage? The firmware on the router might not be updated so it is best that you do an upgrade. Make sure to reset and reconfigure the router after that.

  • When charging my iphone 4s with the wireless still on, it uses the bandwidth and makes my internet very slow.

When my iphone 4s is connected to my wi-fi and I charge it either through my computer or through the plug charger, my internet becomes slow.  For some reason it acts as if the iphone 4s is downloading something and that is making my internet slow.  What is the problem here?  One fix is that I have to turn off my wi-fi from my iphone 4s.  But I dont want to do that, because I obviously want to be connected to the internet when charging my phone.

    i had same issue.
    turned off icloud-storage & backup
    went fine again

  • Internet very slow after changing my previous airport extreme to my new 2T TC

    Hi,
I just got a new 2T time capsule to replace my Airpot Extreme that worked fine. After installing it I chose to import a previous wifi network to the new TC and my internet became very slow. I read a few online documents sugesting that the internet slows down when backing up large data, but I dont think it is backing up (I did a force quit on systems preferences that "froze" with the cursor becoming a spinning ball) and after that tryed to restart my mac pro, but it has been recovering space from file vault for 2 hours. I am trying to access the internet from my mac air, but the speed is 10% of what I usually get.
Any suggestions? Starting to regret getting the TC, I had high expectations about it.
    Thanks
    Rubens

    Thanks William.
I got help from Apple by phone and aparrently after importing the old airport extreme configurations, my time capsule ended with wrong "Radio channel selection" and after changing the 2.4Ghz to 9 and the 5Hhz to 157 the internet connection is back to normal. thanks

  • GT70 internet very slow and sluggish when waking from sleep

My GT70 sometimes is very slow and sluggish to respond when it is awoken from sleep mode. Browsers become unresponsive (hyperlinks don't register as links and require multiple clicks to respond) and internet gets very slow. Speedtest.net reports  .50-3mb/s when it is usually 24mb/s and above.  The hdd also thrashes about and won't calm down for what seems like an eternity.
This only happens when opening the lid after the machine sits idle for several hours. This is fixed by restarting the machine.
Does anyone know why this laptop would be behaving like this? it is very frustrating and makes sleep mode pretty much useless.
    cheers,

First thing I would do is get CPU-Z and open that after wake-up and seeing if the CPU is running at the speed expected, or if it's stuck at some lower speed.
thanks for the reply. will try that next time it happens.

  • Internet is slow using Airport

For some reason my internet is slow when i am using Airport at home. But when I am at my friends house using airport is much faster. Can someone help me solve this issue. My internet is too slow at home...help, thank you

I had a slowed internet problem for a few weeks after using train wifi. While on the train I altered my Location settings in Network preferences. Last night I looked at Location settings and found my home router was not actively chosen. I made the selection and I'm up to speed again. Hope this helps.

If you've tried several other browsers i.e Firefox/Chrome then you've done most of the troubleshooting for yourself.
The only other things you can do is try a different computer on your network to rule out the internet for good.
Then test in a new user account on your mac System Preferences > Accounts > New account.
If that fails then perform an Erase and Install:
    Boot to OSX DVD.
Go to Utilities bar, Disk utility.
Erase the Macintosh HD partition and run Mac OSX install.

  • Recent freezing and shutting down every down 10-15 minutes and hard to log in to internet very slow

My son has 2009 Macbook white version and recently (last week or so) freezing all the time, cannot log on to internet, and shuts down every 10-15 minutes. Is there a download (free hopefully to clean it up for any spyware or maleware). He is a student and very busy in University and cannot be without the computer?

He will need something to back up onto like an external hard drive. The disks are necessary if the hard drive needs to be repaired, you can't repair the boot volume so you need to start up from an install disc and run Disk Utility from there. When you talk to him have him resettle SMC and pram, sometimes unexpected shutdowns can be corrected that way. The freezing is another issue, I'm concerned with the health of his hard drive. Another thing to ask when you talk to him is how much total space and how much free space does his hard drive have?
    To reset the SMC
    MacBook and MacBook Pro
Laptops with a battery you can remove
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Newer Mac portables with a battery you don't remove
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Internet very slow via Ethernet on my New Macbook Pro

I bought brand new Macbook pro 13.3 Mid 2012, 2 days back, internet worked fine for the first 30 minutes then it started me to put it in the trouble. Webpages were unable load completely, i have no  problem with the internet beacuse i checked it with other PC windows, it is working absolutely fine.
Was there was any problem with the new product? If it was, whether it can be replaced with the new product by Apple.
Please help me to support in this case.
Your prompt reply would be high helpful to me.

It's probably - more likely than not - a problem with your network setup rather than your MacBook Pro. Are you able to use it wirelessly? Does the problem occur only when you're using wired Ethernet? Have you tried resetting your router and your modem?
Try resetting all of your preferences in Network under System Preferences and then begin anew, after resetting your modem and router (if you've a battery-powered modem, you might have to use the actual reset button rather than just powering it off).
If everything is fine with your router and modem you should be able to setup Ethernet and WiFi preferences on your MBP.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Photoshop performance very slow using keyboard move + nudge

I have a small file (24mb), that has a lot of layers. All of a sudden, moving a simple element (vector shape line layer, for example) takes 3-4 seconds to move 10px from the time of the keyboard press. This is very laggy, and frustratingly slow. New PS docs seem to be fine. My history and cache is set to tall and thin.
This feels exactly like a very old problem Photoshop had back in CS6. My last version of PS 2014 seemed fine.
I have a late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro, 16gb of ram, SSD drive with 80% free space.
    Any ideas?

Hi Chris. So no suggestions? The file is 35mb. Photoshop says it is running at 100% efficiency. Moving any element is via command + arrow keys is painfully slow. 3-5 seconds to complete before you can move again. Layer previews are turned off. Impossible to work like this.

  • Internet very slow all of the sudden

    Old problem, back again.
I used to have this problem with older systems but now it is back.
    How come?

Don't know. Check the Internet speed with a speed test.

  • SB X-FI, very slow (using portaudio libra

With X-FI, I was hoping for a _fast_/flexible soundcard for audio acquisition. Frankly, I am a bit disappointed.
    - I use the portaudio library: Opening an audio-stream with directsound, takes 5-0 seconds (!). With WMME it's even worse.
    - The Console Launcher GUI takes forever to load ... in fact, every GUI on the CD is extremely slow.
I have ('only') 256 MB main memory, that prob. the problem, but adding RAM is not an option here. The PC is an "DSP-only" system, no other applications are running..
    My question:
    - What can I do to speed up the system?
    - Please, please, please.. cut down on the bloatware!! (or, is a linux driver forseen? ... )
    Thanks for helping..

  • PPro very slow using linked AE files when AE running

I'm pretty sure I have seen this issue before, but checking if there are any further developments. PPro timelines containg AE linked files slow to an unusable crawl if AE is open. Quite AE and all is working a s expected, which is a pain because then yuou have to open AE again to make any changes. This only seems to occur on Mac. I also work on a clients PC and all works as expected. (No comments about switching to PC thanks).
I think there was talk that the problem was with the Mac OS and the hope was that Yosemite might fix things.
Has anyone tried Yosemite? Adobe seem to be saying it's OK, but I have a few trust issues and lots of 3rd party plugins... and a pretty full dance card, so I'm somewhat risk averse.
    cheers
    Pete
    Mac Pro: 3GHz 8-Core Xeon E5; 32 GB RAM; 2 x D700 GPUs; OSX 10.9.4

Hi Kevin... yes running on the latest versions of CC... I must say I hadn't checked how it runs with the latest versions... there is some improvement from previous CC versions, but there still seems to be a noticeable increase in performance without AE in the background. Would the the RAM allocation have any effect? It looks to be that the Adobe applications sort it out between themselves. cheers Pete.

  • Iphone 2G 2.0.1 using Linksys WRT54GL- found a solution for wifi problems

My iphone was unable to see my home wifi router .
After many many hours of changing the iphone and the router parameters I found a solution.
I switched the Wireless Network Mode to G-only and put an open DNS (208.67.222.222) on the list of static DNS in my router (setup/basic setup).
Now when iphone got an IP I removed from the iphone Wifi DNS list the other DNS numbers and left only the open DNS address.
I hope this solution will help someone else

Some of the problems people are having with connections has to do with the fact that for some reason they're either getting an IP address that's not in their subnet or not getting an IP address assigned at all. That was happening to me as well. What happens when you connect via ethernet is that you resolve that problem.
Hopefully Apple will come up with a permanent solution soon.
