Internet works on my PC not on my Mac

Well i guess the title says it all, the internet runs perfect on my pc but not on my mac.
Is there any thing i can do?

Hi
Welcome to Apple Discussions
Sometimes adding DNS server numbers facilitates page loading. Go to your System Preferences>Network panel. There, highlight your connection, then select "advanced" on the right. Then select the DNS panel. There, enter the following codes: 208.67.222.220 and 208.67.220.222
Select "OK", then select "apply".
Restart Safari.

  • Internet works on partition but not on my mac

Hello. My internet on my MacBook Air was working just fine, but suddenly it stopped being able to load any page stating the connection has timed out. It happens will safari, firefox and chrome. However, it works just fine in my Windows XP partition I have set up with VirtualBox. I'm not sure if relevant, but I recently updated from Lion to Maverick. Any recomendations?
    Thanks!

Ah, after repeated restarts it seems to be working for the moment. Hopefully it is not a recurring incident.

  • Internet works on guest but not main network

We have an airport extreme connected to a Dsl modem. The internet works fine when connected to the guest network but when connected to the main network the browser just times out and says server is not responding (for any website we try). Same thing on several computers (iMac, 2 different MacBook Pros).
The internet settings look the same for both guest and main network so I don't understand why one would work and not the other.
I tried getting rid of the guest network but the main network still failed to load webpages (even though it appears to be connected to internet).

Are you connecting the AirPort Extreme to a simple modem (it will only have one ethernet port), or is the device a gateway (combination modem/router with 3-4 ethernet ports)?

  • Internet works in VM but not native OS

I am running an Ubuntu 9.04 virtual machine in VirtualBox on my Macbook pro. As I understand, VirtualBox tricks the guest OS to think there's an wired ethernet connection and redirects traffic through the hosts' connection. So I find it very strange that the internet works perfectly well inside my virtual machine, but it doesn't work in the host OS. Any ideas?

Definitely strange. But, many have internet connection problems no matter what their circumstances. There are no good solutions yet. You could try what is suggested in this thread, but ....: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1924527.

  • Well, my macbook (alumminium late 2008) started to be too laggy, so I decided to erase the Macbook HD. What I did not know is that my Superdrive is not working, so i could not re-install Mac OS X Snow Leopard. What to do?

Well, lately my Macbook (Alumminium, late 2008) started to be too laggy. So I decided to erase Macbook HD, and reset it to the factory config. What i did not know was that my SuperDrive is not working... So I could not re-install Mac OS X Snow Leopard. What to do?

I'm not familiar with the 2008 Macbook, but will it boot from and external drive?  If so, non-Apple CD/DVD drives are not expensive and can be very useful.  A bootable USB flash drive might also work for you.  Again, I'm not familiar with the 2008 Macbook.
    Good luck,

  • Internet working in windows xp, not working in leopard (dual boot)

i have a problem with connecting to the internet in leopard, but not in windows xp. i'm on a dual boot machine (mac mini g5 1.66).
the problem started in an odd way:
everything was working fine, i left the computer open for a few hours (fell asleep) and when I came back I couldn't connect to the internet whatever browser I was using. I restarted the computer in windows and it works fine. Obviously this is not a problem related to the modem or the cables - something must have changed in Leopard. But I did not install any program recently.
I checked the Network tab in System Pref - nothing wrong, I checked disk permissions and corrected them - no change, I checked for unusual threads or processes in Activity Monitor - nothing.
I tried using the Network Utility and sent a few pings, but it's not working. However, both the Network Utility and Activity Monitor report outgoing and incoming packets of data, as if the connection were working.
Can you help me solve this problem without reinstalling the entire operating system? Thanks.

Is there anyone who knows the networking workings in Leopard to help me identify the problem??
I have no modem problem, since I can use the same system in dual boot with Windows XP. The problem must be a file or a setting in Leopard that is blocking my connection to the internet.
I dunno, it could be related to Java or how some scripts are executed by the operating system.
If I don't solve this one, I'll have to reinstall the whole system again. Come on, help me guys!

  • Internet works on Win7, but not Lion

Okay, I've tried everything I can think of and I have no idea what to do next, as I've never really been a "networking" guy. I have a mid-2010, 15" MBP. I recently installed Win7 through Boot Camp, though this problem has existed since before that. Whenever I try to access the Internet while on the OSX partition, it is possible to usually load one or maybe two pages. After that, my connection comes to a virtual standstill and no other pages will load. If I am in Chrome, the browser keeps displaying "Sending request..." until it times out. It doesn't matter which brower I use though, all have the same problem. All the while, my Mac says that I have a solid connection. If I try to load something in more than one tab at once, then the connection stops almost immediately. Even if I have an ethernet cable connected and Wi-Fi disabled, the problem still persists.
Now for the strange part. If I switch over to the Win7 partition and try to access the Internet, it works fine. I can open as many things in as many tabs as I want and it'll still work great. I've never had any problems with it while running Windows, so I'm guessing that it's something goofy in the settings on the Mac side, but for the life of me I can't find out where. Here are some of the things that I've tried doing:
         - I've tried changing the DNS settings and possibly using some other services (i.e. OpenDNS, Google DNS, etc.) but it doesn't help. I don't think it's      necessarily a DNS problem at this point, as I've tried directly going to an address (http://74.125.224.82/ instead of google.com, for example) and I have the      same problem.
         - On a recommendation, I've tried deleting /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist to try and reset my network settings. Nothing.
         - I've deleted all wireless networks and tried re-entering the information for my Wi-Fi connection, but still get the same problem.
         - I've reset my cable modem (NetGear CG3000D) more time than I can count.
And like I said, since I'm not a networking guy I can't think of anything else to try and fix it off the top of my head. I've been getting ping times of ~35ms, which seems pretty reasonable. A small amount of packet loss (~14%) occurs every now and then, but for the most part it's solid.
So does anyone out there have any ideas what could be wrong? I can provide additional information if needed. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

  • Internet Works on Windows Side; Not Mac

I installed my Airport Extreme, and I cant seem to connect wirelessly to the internet. I can however connect through an Ethernet cord and, oddly, my Windows partition side.
Is there something wrong with my Airport receiver in general?

This is not working for me either. After issuing the showDocument(url, target) command I never see the request come into my webserver log. Although, it only seems to not work when the Mac is setup as Japanese. I know this doesn't make any sense.
Does not work on IE or Safari with 1.3.1
Does work with Safari with 1.4.1
    Please help

  • Internet works on other computers, not mine...

Okay, so. We had been having some internet problems last week, but after resetting the modem, and temporary outage in our area, it went back up. However, I'm finding that although all the other computers in the house are able to connect to the internet, my Macbook can't.
My mother's eMac is connected to the same network as mine, and the internet runs fine on it, a bit slow because of the computer, but all the same it works. On my computer, the airport icon in the menu bar shows a full signal strength, but I'm not able to access even Google. Network Diagnostics says that it appears to be working, but it can't connect to the internet.
This really confuses me. Why is the eMac able to connect to the internet on the same network, but the Macbook can't? I would download a system update, but that requires...the internet. The worst thing about it is that my Macbook has always worked on the network until that day.
Please save my computer -- summer vacation's just around the corner, and I can't survive without it! TT_TT

  • Internet Working Fine, but wireless not transmitting net

    Hi
I have a Airport Express connected to a wired network via a ethernet cable. The internet is working fine on the wired network but not on the wireless network. I can connect to the Airport Express box, I just can't go on the internet via the wireless.
    Please Help!!
    Thanks
    Fiona

    Hi Fiona:
A while back, I had a similar problem. After many trials and tribulations, I discovered that there is a bug in the latest AE firmware release. As soon as I logged onto the apple site and downloaded the earlier firmware version, everything sparked up fine right away.
The version that made everything fall back online is Airport Express FW v.6.1.1 (your system will prompt you to upgrade firmware to 6.2 from time to time, but ignore it).
It might be worth a try and it's easy to do so.
    Good Luck!

  • Wired internet works fine, wifi does not work at all...

I can't connect to my home wi-fi network (connection is fine when using ethernet). I've confirmed the password to my network is correct, and I've tried to reconfigure the airport connection to no avail. I've tried DHCP, DHCP with manual address, and manually--even tried turning DHCP off. When I tried just DHCP, I also tried to renew the DHCP lease, which didn't help. I'm stymied, and starting to wonder about the wireless network card.
I can connect fine with my laptop (MacBook Pro). The wireless router is about 3 feet from my desktop computer, so I'm pretty sure there are no reception issues.
Do you have any ideas for me?

    Hi BDA,
I turned off the security in the router, and Airport worked just fine. So that's good, I guess the Airport card is healthy.
Then I turned the security back on to WPA in the router and can't log in. I rebooted (the Mac) and tried to turn on Airport, but the prompt which asks for a password will not accept the password. So I thought maybe it needed to be put back into the keychain (I am not very familiar with how the keychain works, it seems to be kind of automatic?). Anyway, I can't seem to enter the password into the keychain.
I did try WEP in the router, in case the airport card is so old it doesn't recognize WPA or WPA personal. That didn't do anything either.
Do you have any thoughts? I figured that turning off the security in the router is as good as rebooting as Ralph suggested.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Prototype works on PC but not on a mac

    Hey guys,
I have a flash site prototype that's in developement, which
has been creating it on a PC, however my client uses a Mac and for
some reason the document will not run properly on his machine.
So far I have a basic document with an subtle animated logo a
sliding menu with one of the menu items set up as an active button
the one on the far left. However on the Mac systems the site is
viewable but none of the animated elements are working according to
my client. I don't have a mac so I can't test it, so if anybody
reading this uses a Mac is it possible that you can take a peak and
let me know if it works on your system. Also if anyone has an idea
why this is is happening or even better how to fix the problem I
would be extremely thankfull. To view the site go here:

    Thanks in advance,

Hey thanks for your time Andrei1,
I recon my client needs simply to update his Flash drivers by
the sound of it I'll add a comand to the Html doc to check for
Flash driver versions witha link to Adobe
    Cheers,

  • Is anyone working on IBM's Notes on the Mac OS X mountain lion or Maverics?

I'm looking for a person who works for IBM Notes.
I have a problem with the installation.I tried version 8.5.3 and 9 Social.
    The problem is the same:
    the program is installed correctly
the initial setup goes OK, and you can start working on it.
Unfortunately, when we close Notes, all files (notes) removed and after every restarting program or macbook and then start program we have to do startup configuration (entering the server once again, specify the file ID once again....).
I know that IBM Notes is not supported on Mavericks, but I was a witness properly run system: Macbook air + maverics.
    Thanks for answer

If it is plugged into a USB hub (or the spare keyboard port), try connecting it to a direct USB port.
Also, try doing this Reset procedure, while it is connect to power.
