Interpred Footage doesn't resample add. audio tracks

Hi,
I've a serious issue with the "Interpred Footage" funktion in Premiere. If you use it with footage containing more than one audio track - all additional audio tracks arn't resampled after project is reloaded or sent to AME - resulting in out of sync audio.
Has anyone similar problems or a workaround for this?

Hi Jim,
thanks... ;-)
anyhow I think our usecase is typical and important:
We use the "Interpred Footage" change framerate option regulary to conform mastered clips on the fly to different video standards.
For example:
A) We have a 24p 2K Digital Cinema Distribution Master DCDM
Our client asks for:
- 25p Press DVD PAL
- 1080p25 EPK material
so there is no time for complex conforming work in different applications... import into 25p sequence - insert Overlays - burn in TC - create stereo submix from 5.1 -  export as PAL wide....
Or we get 23.976fps footage and have to conform it to 24p for Digital Cinema Package delivery...
Therer are complex workflows and multiple export targets involved if you get 23.976 and have to deliver 24p and 25p for WEB, TV, Home Cinema & Cinema
Only the "primary quality targets" getting a extra audio mix from the recording studio or HQ confroming via Izotope... If it's only for WEB or the subtiteling company - audio is streched on the fly...
So - ok we have an extreme usecase - but every filmmaker could be asked for a 25p image reference for DVD subtiteling of his 24p cinema master...
it's not only for slomo any more ;-)

  • How to add Audio Track to Existing AVI File

    Dear Friends,
I have a AVI file, which contains only the Video Track.
Now i want to add Audio track to this existing Video Track AVI File.
    Please suggest me with samples.

    Try next:
Get a datasource from the avi.
Get a datasource from the audio track.
    Create a MergedDataSource with both.
Use a datasink to write to a file or play it with a player...

  • Opened FCP Clip In STP . . . Now How Do I Add Audio Tracks?

I have opened an FCP 6 video clip in STP and the video and 2 audio tracks are facing me.
I want to get rid of the clip's audio tracks and replace them with tracks on which I am going to create a musical background.
I am not concerned about deleting the original audio tracks as I can mute them back in FCP but I would like to add some new tracks for the music.
It was dead simple in the old Soundtrack 1.5 but how do I do it in STP ?

I'm on STP 2.0.2 and page 409 doesn't seem to have anything relevant but your sentences do!
I tried "Send to STP Multitrack Project" and that seems to fit the bill.
So why didn't I try it earlier? I made an assumption . . . . . I assumed that "multitrack" was synonymous with "multicam" and as I wasn't exporting a multicam file, it would not be appropriate.
It's not the first time I have been tripped up by terminology.
Thanks for nudging me in the right direction, Paul.

Does anyone know how to add a audio track to Final Cut Express? My default is four available tracks. What if I want to have 6? How can I add a additional two to the timeline?

Move your cursor into the gray area below the A4 audio track, then control click and select Add Track.

  • Add audio tracks to iphone using iCloud sync

This soulds like a 101 question, but I can't find an answer.
I have my iPhone/iPad synced to iCloud.  I want to add audio recordings to the iPhone (language learning).  If I connect to iTunes and select some tracks it says I can't sync them because I'm synced to iCloud.  How do I get them on there?  They came from a CD supplied with a book.

You can go to Settings > Music > iTunes Match and turn it off.  Then, sync the phone from your Mac.
Note 1:  "When enabling iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and then replaced with your music in iCloud."
Note 2: "Syncing music with iTunes will be disabled while iTunes Match is enabled on your iOS device."

  • Failing to add audio track on mpeg file

Hi and thanks for all good answers the recent days. I'm a new and happy user of PRE8. I'm just about to finish an hour long movie. This is when a serious problem occurs in adding the last movie material to work with.
All thru the project I've added mpeg files without any problems. (Yes I have now started to import these files as AVI with a much better result (less stress on the process) as I have been told to do here). The way I have done this is to add the mpeg files, then saved them for personal computer as AVI and opened them in a new project, cutted them finished and opened them in the original main project file. This has worked well.
But the very last mpeg file I am going to add came into PRE project without it's audio track. The audio track exists. It plays in media player. But does not join the video track into PRE.
Is the only solution here to import the file from the camera-dvd?
    Best regards, kjetil, norway

Use Windows Movie Maker or Prism outside of PE to first convert the suspect file to DV-AVI.
See the FAQ on where to get Prism, WMM should also be on your system, or can be found at www.microsoft.com:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415317?tstart=0
Once converted, test file outside PE and make sure it plays okay.
Then import the DV-AVI into PE.
This might get you to the promised land...

  • Video track order doesn't correspond with audio track order

I don't know why or if I've reset something in Premier CS3 but now when I insert a clip into video track 1, the sound of the clip is placed in audio track 3 instead of 1. And if I put another clip in video track 2, its sound is placed in audio track 4, and so on. This is driving me insane so I would appreciate any help to get it back to the default (audio 1 goes with track 1, audio 2 goes with video 2, ect.).

It still could be the way your tracks are mapped in the original project setting. Premiere will automatically send the audio from the source to an appropriate track type. (BTW - stereo and mono are not different "audio qualities")
The Header of each track has an icon showing either one or two speakers representing obviously mono or stereo. Check out the audio in the source monitor to see if it is mono or stereo and that will show you where the track will be targeted.

  • Can you add audio tracks as selectable menu items on a dvd? I shot a wedding where the church had its own set up to record audio. I'm trying to make those songs performed by the artists available for viewers of the dvd to select for listening.?

I'm trying to make audio (MP3) tracks available for viewers of this Wedding dvd to select for listening. Is this possible in iDVD?

You will need to create a slide show for each of those songs with a minimum of 1 photo per slideshow and add the song to the slideshow audio bin. Set the audio to Fit to Music.
In your top/main menu add a submenu for the list of songs.
Add a slideshow for each song with the "+" button at the bottom:
Select the link in the menu and rename it for the song used in the slideshow.  You can create a slide image for each song with the song name, composer, singer, etc. on the image to be used for the slideshow  An image editor or Pages can be used for that and then convert to a jpeg file for use in iDVD.
The song/playlist menu could look like this depending on the theme you choose:

  • Mixing Down Doesn't capture all audio tracks? AA(cs6)

Hello all, I've got a bit of an issue involving mixdowns.
I've recorded 7 guitar tracks and have 1 bass guitar backing track, and 1 drum backing track set up in audition for a total of 9 tracks.  I'm ready to mixdown but when I go to do so the resulting mixdown doesn't have any of my guitar tracks and only contains the bass and drum backing tracks.  While in multitrack mode if I mute the master track I can still hear my 7 guitar tracks, but the bass and drum tracks go silent.  Is there a step I am missing somewhere along the line?

It sounds as if you have your guitar tracks Track Output is set to physical device outputs and are not set to Master.  Mixdown only incorporates the output of tracks assigned to the Master.  In each track panel, change the output drop down to Master and you should be set.

  • Encore CS3 - Hangs and import problems with menus and avi footage with audio tracks present.

I'm trying to import some footage files in .avi format into Encore CS3 and am having several problems.
In what follows when I say "crash" I mean Encore quits with a standard Windows error. When I say "hang" I mean Encore does not quit but rather becomes an unresponsive process that must be killed manually using Windows Task Manager.
    My System:
    WinXP Pro SP2
2.93 GHz Intel Celeron CPU - single core
    Intel PERL mobo
    3GB 400MHz RAM
    NVidia 7800GS video
I mention these specs however I am not experiencing any hardware
related bugs or issues (like out of memory or video driver crashes
etc) when using any CS3 app.
The footage files (as reported by GSpot) and problems I am seeing. In all cases GSpot reports that I have the appropriate codec installed:
    footage1.avi - Dx50 XVid 1.0.3, Dolby AC3 48kHz 192kb/s, 716834 KB
Attempting to import as timeline causes Encore CS3 to hang.
Importing as an Asset allows it to import but when I try to click
on it in the project windown to add it to a new empty timeline,
Encore hangs. It plays fine in Windows Media Player.
    footage2.avi - Dx50 XVid 1.0.3, MPEG-1 Layer 3 48kHz 128kb/s, 718302 KB
Imports fine as either a timeline or asset but no audio track comes
with it, even though there is an audio track in the footage. It plays
fine in Windows Media Player. Video imports perfectly, just no audio.
    footage3.avi - Dx50 XVid 1.0.3, MPEG1-Layer3 48kHz 112kb/s, 717606 KB
Imports fine as either a timeline or asset but no audio track comes
with it, even though there is an audio track in the footage. It plays
fine in Windows Media Player. Video imports perfectly, just no
audio. I tried converting this one using AVS to both MPEG3 and DivX,
each using MPEG1-Layer3 44kHz 192kb/s audio, and got the same issue
upon importing into Encore CS3. I also loaded it into Camtasia
Studio and it looked fine over there. The audio was present and I
was able to export it as a .WAV file. When I tried looking at the
file in Soundbooth CS3, there was no audio track or, more
accurately, the audio track was a flat line.
By way of comparison these are importing perfectly:
    footage4.avi - XVID XviD 1.1.0 Beta2, MPEG1-Layer3 48kHz 189kb/s Two mono
    channels LAME3.96r, 717436 KB.

Although this one imported & transcoded correctly, when I went to
build it to a DVD image file I got some strange errors during the
"planning video" stage that prevented the process from completing.
Unfortunately I neglected to write down the error message I recieved
which read like quite nonsensical babble to me, and I have since
deleted the project folder. I remember it was not a memory or
display related error and it included a timestamp where the error
was happening. I played the footage in the preview panel thru the
identified timestamp but it previewed perfectly without even a
jitter in either the video or audio. Took forever to transcode so I
doubt I'll be doing this one again anytime soon.
Another issue I am having is with the motion menus. I burned a DVD and it does not load correctly in one of my DVD players (a Sony rdr-gx330 recorder/player). It appears to take extra time to recognize the disk, the startup (first-play) menu does not show automatically, and I must press the Main Menu button on the

Another issue I am having is with the motion menus. I burned a DVD and it does not load correctly in one of my DVD players (a Sony rdr-gx330 recorder/player). It appears to take extra time to recognize the disk, the startup (first-play) menu does not show automatically, and I must press the Main Menu button on the remote control to make it appear. Other than that it seems to play ok in that player. Also tested it in 2 other DVD players (a Panasonic and Zenith) and it worked just fine like it's supposed to in them. Also plays perfectly in my computer's DVD player/burner using Windows Media Player v10. I tried burning to Memorex +RW single-layer single-sided disks at 6, 7, & 8Mbps project settings but got the exact same result every time.
Encore CS3 crashes fairly often during authoring, particularly during imports, and when I go to edit things like calling up a timeline in the timeline panel, dragging footage into an existing timeline, or changing button links in a menu etc.. I have also experienced seemingly random hangs even more often, probably 5 or 6 times as often as a crash. Saving the project after every little change I make, then closing and restarting Encore allows me to make progress albeit at a significantly reduced workflow rate. Accessing Photoshop from Encore appears to be working flawlessly so far aside from the slow load times. Encore hangs sometimes during video transcoding, repeat the process and it works ok. If I try to import a menu from the library after importing my footage files, Encore hangs trying to import it either at the 50% mark or the 99% mark (it varies even with the same exact menu selected from the library). If I import the menu first and the footage after, then no problems. Also trying to render motion menus after importing footage causes Encore to hang, render before footage import and everything works ok. Interestingly enough, previewing my project in Encore's monitor or preview panels works perfectly even in High quality mode -- in fact it operates quite smoothly in comparison to other apps I have tried. Although those footage files that had missing audio tracks on import obviously played silently, I have yet to experience a hang or crash during a preview or when scrubbing through a timeline in the monitor panel.
The last problem I've seen is with the project cache files. It doesn't always get rid of cache files when stuff is deleted from the project. I was working on one project and surprisingly ran out of disk space. When I tracked it down I found that there were some two dozen copies of a footage file I had repeatedly imported and deleted from the project still sitting in the cache folder. The file was an avi about 2GB so it was taking up some 40 GB of disk space for stuff that was no longer in the project. I tried shutting down Encore and manually deleting all the cache files, and that worked for most of them, but there was one 2GB file that kept reappearing in the cache folder even though it was no longer in the project. The XML file in the cache folder still had references to it in there so I can only assume that was the reason it kept showing up. I eventually had to delete and totally recreate the project from scratch to regain my lost disk space. This included having to sit thru a 6 hour long transcoding session which pissed me off to no end.
Encore CS3 appears on the surface to be a very powerful, feature rich, and approachable app with a simple easy to use interface, but it is awfully bugged in just about every area I have explored and still needs lots and lots of work for it to be really useful. Frankly for me it is pretty damn annoying that I have invested so much money in this suite only to find several of the apps in it (Encore & Premiere in particular) behaving this poorly. In my opinion every single app in the suite exhibits lousy performance whenever you must do anything at all involving the disk from the time you click to start it up until the time you click to close it down. Several of them are just as seriously bugged as Encore too, and being a long time Photoshop v5.5 user I expected much more from Adobe. Even Photoshop is two or three times as slow now (e.g. it takes about 20-30 seconds to simply create an empty 500x500 pixel image file and almost a full minute to load a 30x60 pixel single-layer gif). So far I have attempted to create 6 DVDs using Encore and after 3 weeks of effort have only succeeded in getting one of them onto a final disk -- and that one is kinda limping to work correctly in my DVD player. Three of those projects became so corrupted while working on them that I had to delete them completely and recreate them from scratch, only to find that I still couldn't get them to completion for one reason or another. Seriously disappointing.

  • Copy / Paste Audio track not functional?

I have Quicktime 7 with the MPEG option. I can open mpeg-2 video files and edit them. I can open mpeg audio files but I can not edit them.
How do I take an Mpeg audio track and add it to an Mpeg video track?
I tried to folow the instructions here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=QuickTime%20Player/7.0/en/c3qt7.htm l
However, at step 2 where it states "Edit * Copy", the option is not available. I can madly click all I want on the greyed option but it doesn't copy the audio track.

Adrian. I apologize for the bum advice. I bounce back between the Mac and Windows pages and sometimes fail to notice where I am.
The MPEG editing features are the same for both the Mac and PC versions. QuickTime can't edit muxed track files. It never could.
There are some known issues (Mac side anyway) about AC3 audio. The third party codec isn't properly supported by QuickTime 7.0.2.
There is probably a PC software that works similar to MPEG Streamclip.

  • New audio track in arrange page problem

In the LSA I have 64 audio tracks and 32 audio instruments set up. When I open Logic, my autoload contains 16 audio tracks and my environment is configured as I set it up in the LSA. Everything is as it should be. However, when I select track 16 in the arrange page and use the key command control>shift>return to add another track, audio16 is duplicated. When I use the menu to 'create with next instrument' audio17 is created, but in my environment, my 64 audio tracks are reduced to 24. Using the menu to add audio tracks only lets me add to 24.
I've trashed my preferences but that did nothing.
One thing that may be relevant is that after setting up the LSA as described above, I copied an old autoload from my powerbook that only contained 24 audio tracks. After realizing that I need more tracks I trashed that autoload and re-ran the LSA. (on a side note - your autoload will trump your LSA set-up if they differ). I think that the old autoload is still causing a problem even though I trashed it.
Any help in the frustrating situation is most appreciated!

It is normal that Logic uses the same audio object
when you create a track with control-shift-return,
that's the way it's supposed to be. If you want to
create a new track and a new audio object assigned to
it, "create with next instrument" is the way to do
it. You could also use "create multiple..."
in the drop down menu it says that the key command for 'create with next instrument' is control>shift>return.
If you're limited to 24 tracks, I'd check in your
audio preferences. Your maximum tracks limit is
    probably set to 24 tracks.
my audio preferences are set to 64 tracks of audio.
    thanks for the reply!

  • Howto add adiuo track to video in Compressor

I exported video from Final Cut to Compressor for burning on DVD, after I deleted source files in FCP. Now I have 2 separate files with video and audio, how can I convert them to one file for iPod?
If I add both files to Compressor it creates two separate jobs, is there any option to add audio track to video?

    Interesting problem....
If you've created a DVD (or VIDEO_TS) you can use an app like DVDxDV (www.dvdxdv.com) to create a QT movie from the source.
    or
You can transcode the AC3 file to an AIFF 48k/16 pcm file in Compressor, and then transcode the MPEG-2 video stream to whatever I-Frame codec you want to work with (DV, ProRes, etc). Next, take those two files into FCP and sync, or use QT Pro's "Add to Movie" command and Save As a self-contained movie.

  • Premiere Pro CC and missing audio tracks for .mts files

    Hello guys,
I used to edit my .mts files with Premiere Pro CC without any issues until yesterday.
Now I import my .mts file (made with a Sony VG900) but Premiere doesn't recognize the audio tracks (that I can hear just fine with VLC).
I tried changing the extension in .m2ts but it didn't work, I also tried reinstalling Premiere but, again, it didn't work and I tried (I was desperate) to install Premiere CS6 just to check if maybe the problem was just about the CC version. Guess what? It didn't work...
I tried also converting the file with Encoder in .mp4 but after the conversion I can't hear the audio with VLC and, of course, it doesn't work on Premiere.
Do you think it's a Premiere issue or a file problem?
I used those same files for other videos (like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1X5vsZ-5yI) and I had no problems. Then I updated Premiere, I moved the files in other folder and the problem came to life.
    Any idea?
(I'm waiting for my colleague to send me a new mts file just to check if I accidentally damanged the old ones).

    A similar problem here..... although......
Take a look at this screenshot
As you will see, the blue marked audio is repeated audio of less than on sec. Certainly not the way it has been recorded.
I think I've got the answer........ (working with Premiere Pro CC, always up to date, Mac OX 10.9.2; Camera: Sony HXR NX3)
    1. Don't copy but clone your flash card to the location where to edit on your hard drive. At the same time: alt+click on external flash card, draw it onto your hard drive location.
(or use carbon copy cloner, which I use for backup and transferring avchd files).
    2. Don't import regularly via the import dialogue box (cmd-i). Instead: use the mediabrowser browser, locate the map "private" (as often standard named),
    3. Via cmd-a (select all): select all videofiles.
    4. click right mouse button and select import.
This way, all the video and audio files will be imported.
If however you have alreade re-used your camera flash card for recordings and don't have access to the 'corrupted' files to be imported into your project, you won't be able to solve the problem. You just lost some of the essential data which were not copied onto your Mac.
This solution I found for my problem may well be the one you are looking for........
Another solution might be to convert the compressed avchd - before importing into your project - into uncompressed .mov filed. However...... you will lose data so this is not exactly what I would prefer if the former described workflow does fix the problem for you.
Please let me know if this works for you or not.
    Good luck!
    Regards,
    Peter
