Interrupted Apple TV Audio

I'm running a Mac w/OSX 10.7.5 with Apple TV through iTunes and the video of the album shows on the TV, but I only get small sound bites every 2 seconds or so. The Apply TV is connected through a receiver via an HDMI cable and wirelessly to my router. Home sharing is the same on both the Apple TV and the MAC. I can successfully run a MAC OSX 10.9.1 with this same Apple TV and all the same settings successfully with great sound. I've checked all the security and app settings and can not find any differences between the two Macs. I also could not find this symptom in community through search. Any help?

Whilst I've never had the issue myself, I guess it is possible since each movie is encoded separately. However I would be inclined to check whether you have soundcheck enabled in the Apple TV settings.

I own the movies and I want them to stay in my iTunes library basically forever.
But in both cases the file name no longer shows in the movie list, so I don't know how to re-download it from the Cloud.
iTunes prefs > Store > Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
This will show all your iTunes purchases in your library with a cloud icon down arrow. Click the icon to redownload or click on Play to stream without downloading.

and techncially, you don't "own" the movie, You simply have a license to use it.
Yet the first thing iTunes does when you hit the delete key is tell you that it will remove the movie forever from all devices and the library.

FYI: You should keep copies of all yoru iTnue spurahses as the labels/movie studios/copyright owners can pull their product at anytime and it won't be available to redownload.

Sorry, but what you are trying to do would not be possible. Instead, you would need to connect the Apple TV audio output directly to an audio receiver that supports the appropriate format based on which version Apple TV that you have.

I am this close to trashing Yosemite . It reminds me of my OS 9 days: if you even looked in the wrong direction the system stop working.]

I want my TV to keep audio and ALSO send audio to and AirPort Express at the same time.
It seems that I can choose either Apple TV audio OR send to AirPlay device. I want both!
How can I send audio to both and AirPlay device and still keep audio on the HDMI connected TV?

The first gen ATV has not been supported for getting close to like 5 years now. So it does not have any of the newer features. I still like it's user interface over the new one though.

iTunes 1.0.2 is +at least+ eight years old.
The current version is 9.2, and it's free.
If that was a typo, and you're using something more current:
In the iTunes preferences, change the import settings to mp3.
Then select the songs you wish to convert.
From the "Advanced" menu, choose "Create mp3 version".
When done, change the import settings back to Apple Lossless.
That's it.
BTW, this is the Logic Pro forum, which has absolutely nothing to do with iTunes.

No settings for Apple Lossless Audio Codec found in Compressor

For archiving reasons I have to convert many audio files to Apple Lossless (ALAC). So I thought it would be easy using Compressor 4 and and a suitable droplet. I was astonished that here are only settings for the following audio formats: AAC, AC3, AIFF, CAF, MP3 and WAV.
No Apple Lossless Codec in the settings?
Does anyone know how to create ALAC files

There is no "ALAC" file format specification. What are you going to use the files for?
ALAC isn't specified at all. The audio codec is called "Apple Lossless", and it is a set of algorithms to encode audio data, and a specification for a bitstream of audio data encoded such. It can be put in various containers, the most common being MPEG-4 and Apple Quicktime, but nothing will stop you from using AVI, .mkv, .ogg or anything else as the container format.
If you're unhappy with Compressor, which only seems to offer the QuickTime container format for Apple Lossless-encoded audio, there might be other tools that will transfer it into another container while leaving the actual encoded data untouched.
Since the Apple Lossless codec is now free, mencoder might work, even for the encoding itself. I haven't checked MPEG Streamclip, Handbrake, VLC or others, which might also offer such options.
Quick tests didn't yield any success, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't work.
An alternative for lessless encoding is the "FLAC" (free lossless audio codec), which is usually stored in an ogg container file. I don't think Compressor offers that, although VLC does.
It seems that the exact thing you want is not readily available (i. e. mpeg-4 audio-only with Apple Lossless audio codec.)

Apple Pro Audio Speakers on Intel iMac

Hello everyone!
My new Intel iMac just got opened and is sitting on the desk, but I ran into one issue: The Apple Pro Audio speakers that came with the iMac G4 can not be hooked up. Is there an adaptor I can get, or will I have to make due with the internal speakers for a little bit ? (which by the way, sound really good)

If you're taking speaker recommendations, I love my JBL Creature II speakers. They also come in aluminum, black, and red.
They look a little funky, which is cool, and they sound great!

Apple TV audio skips

Starting two days ago my Apple TV started skipping audio while playing. I have had the device for about two years and have never experienced this. I have a time capsule that I've been using since '07. This problem occurs in all apps. Netflix, iTunes Match, streaming from ipad and iPhone, pandora from iPad and iPhone. I have reset all devices (MacBook, iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, time capsule, modem). This did nothing. I've also run speed tests on different devices, I'm well over 16 Mbps on all of them. I've tried running Ethernet directly from router to Apple TV. All software is up to date on all devices.nothing has changed in weeks and I have no idea why this problem began out of thin air. Please advise!

I was able to get rid of the skipping with apple's help. In my case it was the router... so I just disconnected the coaxial and power cable for like 1 min and plugged it back in and it started to work perfectly again. The tech said that if it continued to be an issue I should get a new router from the ISP. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any other info.

Apple TV audio not working

Am having issues with optical audio on my new Apple TV. Here's the setup:
- New Apple TV
- Sanyo PLV-Z7000 Projector (no audio-out on it) - Link
- Yamaha RX-397 Receiver (RCA inputs on the back) - Link
- Digital Coax & Optical Toslink to Analog Audio Converter (supposed to work with AppleTV) - Link
Here are the connections:
Apple TV (HDMI output) into Projector (HDMI input)
Apple TV (digital optical cable output) to Converter (digital optical cable input)
Converter (RCA output) to Yamaha (RCA input)
I am not getting audio playing in my speakers. I have tried turning Dolby Digital off, and having it output only 16bit audio on the Apple TV but that didn't work.

I've found that more times than not, some devices DO NOT like converters.
For example, I had a Mini-HDMI to Full-sized HDMI converter. It never worked no matter what I tried. But the pieces independantly worked fine.
So I finally had to buy a cable that had Full-sized HDMI on one end and Mini-HDMI on the other. With no adaptors. Then everything worked fine.
Just something to think about.
Just wondering though.
Why not connect the Optical cables directly from the TV to the Stereo instead of trying to create adaptor bridges from the Apple TV.
What may be happening is that the Audio is automatically going through the HDMI and not wanting to use the aux audio setup you have created.
If you are intent on keeping the setup this way, you need to go through the device settings to see what can be changed.

Apple TV audio not controlled by AV receiver

Just got a new Apple TV. The audio from my Macbook Pro (Mavericks) is correctly played on the TV, however, the audio seems to be controlled by thr Macbook only. My AV receiver audio controls do not seem to work. The result is that I can not turn up the volume for any audio played through Apple TV.
Its a Macbook pro retina, Apple TV connected via HDMI to my AV receiver Denon AVR 1611. Can someone please help.

That sounds more like a weird enviromental issue.
Disconnect the external speakers from the computer and leave the disconnected. See if the audio issues go away. If they do, then you know the culprit.
Ensure the Mac is running the latest version of OSX and iTunes. Confirm the ATV is running the latest version of iOS.

Apple TV audio through interface and monitor speakers?

See following pic of my setup...
My question is as follows....
When Macbook is linked to tv via airplay, which is my normal setup as I produce music and use both screens, the sound output is set through Saffire audio interface and comes out the monitor speakers and all is good with the world, however, I want to be able to sit back and watch the apps on Apple TV as is shown on the big screen there ie. Netflix/NBA TV, but still using my computer soundcard and hence through the monitor speakers instead of it switching back to the TV sound.
IS THIS POSSIBLE???

Apple TV audio issues

Hi. I have a third generation Apple TV. I have an HDMI running directly into my Yamaha receiver. When I toggle back and forth between Apple TV and my regular TV, I am more often that not losing audio. I am not using an optical audio cord. Could someone help? Also to be clear I have all my HDMI cords running to my receiver, thus I change my input from my receiver and never have to change the input on my television. Many thanks.

AppleTV 2 cannot send audfio to an Airport Express.
Is the stereo connected to Express using analogue or mini Toslink to Toslink?
AppleTV 2 will output audio over HDMI and Toslink simultaneously. Many have recently found updates prevent AppleTV outputting audio over Toslink if the TV is off or there is no HDMI connection.
AppleTV 2 apparently changes audio to 48 kHz 16 bit for stereo output - possible the stereo can't handle this?

Does anyone know if you can use both the optical and analog audio jacks at the same time on Apple TV? The second zone on my receiver will only work for analog inputs, so I am hoping I can use both.
