Interrupted calibration

Okay, so I'm callibrating my battery and got to the point where it fully drained, let it sit, then had to charge it back up to 100%. It was charging for a couple of hours when the plug accidently came out (thank you Apple for the magsafe adaptor! could have been a disaster if the machine fell!). I turned on the laptop to check the charge level.....the battery level says 100% (the light indicator on the adaptor is orange though) and when I put it on display time, it just says calculating....
any ideas on what I should do? recallibrate?
Thanks for any advice anyone can give....

It's probably a good idea to re-calibrate at least once a month. With my PB, I would do just that, and after eight months, I'm still getting 3:45 out of the battery! Not bad...

#3- If the TFTP is rerun the entire cycle starts again.

The IPS 4255 sensor appliance has only a single 512 MB internal CompactFlash module for storage by-default, so this part of the output you posted is interesting:
hda: TOQHIBA THLCD512MBA, CFA DISK drive
hdb: QalDisi QDAF@-510, ATA DISK drive
    ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14

    hda: task_no_data_intr: error=0x04 { DriveStatusError }
    hda: 484848 sectors (248 MB) w/2KiB Cache, CHS=481/16/63
    hdb: attached ide-disk driver.
    hdb: task_no_data_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
    hdb: task_no_data_intr: error=0x04 { DriveStatusError }
    hdb: 484848 sectors (248 MB) w/1KiB Cache, CHS=481/16/63
As it appears that two (2) 256 MB ("248 MB") storage devices are being detected (despite the model of the first even containing "512MB" in its name).
I'd recommend double-checking that there is nothing installed in the "External compact flash device" slot located on the back of the appliance. See here for reference: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ips/7.0/installation/guide/hw_installing_4240_4255.html#wp2726
If there is a CompactFlash module installed there, eject and remove it, then power-cycle the appliance and attempt the re-image ("recovery") process once more. If the boot output still contains the same errors for hda and hdb, then it is probably a failing/failed CompactFlash module, so an RMA will likely be necessary to resolve.

Java programs are run by a virtual machine which is running in userland. They don't "mess" with the kernel.
OTOH, each userland program interacts with the kernel through system calls, signals, pageing activity, ...
My guess is that it's either broken hardware, or a fault in the linux kernel.
Is the crash reproducible? Does ist always crash with the same error message, at the same "eip" location?
If the crashes are sporadic and non deterministic, with different error messages each time, then I'd say it's
a hardware problem. Otherwise, it could be a linux kernel software problem.

  • Kernel 2.6.2 & 8139too

I am having trouble with my network module 8139too. After upgrading my kernel to 2.6.2 from the stock arch kernel 2.4.21, my network won't start.
    modprobe 8139
    dhcpcd eth0
Network will not start on boot. dmesg reports that the dhcp request has timed out. Weird thing though is that I can pop in knoppix and get network access fine.

    Here is what I did:
    pacman -Syu
    pacman -S kernel26
    rebooted
    generate-modprobe.conf > /etc/modprobe.conf
none /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0; to fstab
network will not start. Here is my dmesg output:

  • AIR-CAP3502i: need to run again RAM calibration fix

Hello everyone, here's full story ...
I just purchased a lot of three 2nd hand AIR-CAP3502i-E-K9, that were previously set as lightweight. Since I needed autonomous APs, I loaded a 12.4 IOS first, then upgraded to 15.2(4)JA1.
On first device, turning LWAPP to Autonomous set a 'boot system flash' variable of corresponding image. Device booted fine, had 12.4(23c)JA bootloader, everything was fine.
I erased flash, loaded 15.2(4)JA1 image, all went fine.
Then, I reloaded device, but I forgot to change 'boot system flash' variable. My big mistake ... Hopefully, I did not forget to remove boot variable for the two other devices, and everything happened on two others as it should (upgrade process went smoothly).
Output (hopefully, Putty logs everything ):
    : Vendor 0x7C08, Device 0x3A6
******** AUTOMATIC DDR CALIBRATION UPGRADE LOGIC *********
=== 1. Is original FCS bootloader in BS:?  If not, skip upgrade ===
---> original FCS bootloader was detected at bs:

---> upgrade logic has not run yet
    === 3. Read 0x1e0/0x210 EEPROM values ===
    === 4. Are 0x1e0 EEPROM signatures found?
---> eeprom signatures were not found
=== 5. Writing MICRON static values to eeprom at addr 0x210
        ---> write to eeprom complete
    === 6. Copy u-boot to BB:

---> error on u-boot copy -- skip upgradeBoot CMD: 'boot  flash:/ap3g1-k9w7-mx.124-25d.JA2/ap3g1-k9w7-xx.124-25d.JA2;flash:/ap3g1-k9w7-mx.152-4.JA1/ap3g1-k9w7-mx.152-4.JA1'
Loading "flash:/ap3g1-k9w7-mx.124-25d.JA2/ap3g1-k9w7-xx.124-25d.JA2"...flash:/ap3g1-k9w7-mx.124-25d.JA2/ap3g1-k9w7-xx.124-25d.JA2: no such file or directory
    Error loading "flash:/ap3g1-k9w7-mx.124-25d.JA2/ap3g1-k9w7-xx.124-25d.JA2"
Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process.
    Boot process terminated.
The system is unable to boot automatically.  The BOOT
environment variable needs to be set to a bootable
    image.
On that first device, calibration process started, but was halted since IOS didn't find new image (obviously, boot variable was set to former image ...)
I now have a device that ***seems*** to work, but I wanna avoit spurious reloads/crashes/watchdog timeouts, thus my need to redo from start calibration.
    What I did:
-Downgraded image to an older 12.4 -> no avail, as advertized.
-Turned back AP to LWAPP. Bootloaded downgraded to 12.4(23c)JA (as before failed attempt), but turning back to 12.4 Autonomous then 15.2 did not solve the issue...
-Tried PRIV command in rommon, but this one is no longer available.
What I now get when this AP boots:
    Radio 3 : Vendor 0x7C08, Device 0x3A6
******** AUTOMATIC DDR CALIBRATION UPGRADE LOGIC *********
=== 1. Is original FCS bootloader in BS:?  If not, skip upgrade ===
---> original FCS bootloader was detected at bs:
=== 2. Has upgrade logic already ran once? (flag!=0xffffffff)
---> upgrade logic has already ran once, skip upgrade
    Boot CMD: 'boot  flash:/ap3g1-k9w7-mx.152-4.JA1/ap3g1-k9w7-xx.152-4.JA1'
    And:
    ap#show soap | include DDR
*ORIGINAL* DDR Calibration values detected in EEPROM at 0x0
What I get on other working devices (serial are all close to each others):
    Radio 3 : Vendor 0x6, Device 0xB22D
******** AUTOMATIC DDR CALIBRATION UPGRADE LOGIC *********
=== 1. Is original FCS bootloader in BS:?  If not, skip upgrade ===
---> original FCS bootloader not detected -- skip upgrade
    Boot CMD: 'boot  flash:/ap3g1-k9w7-mx.152-4.JA1/ap3g1-k9w7-xx.152-4.JA1'
    And:
    ap#show soap | include DDR
*NEW* DDR Calibration values detected in EEPROM at 0x1E0
Very strange how production team coded this update, by setting flag at the very beginning of update instead after being updated, thus leading to this issue ...
I noticed in directory file 'ap3g1-boot-m_upg' - perhaps I should try to trigger it manually like times we had to upgrade bootloader of 1200 devices a long ago (command like 'copy tftp://.../c1200-boot-m... bs')
Obvously, I don't want to RMA this device, since it has no contact - and I don't plan to pay for a smartnet for an AP, especially for home use, BTW.
If someone has an idea/a set of commands, a hammer, even a soldering iron to sort that out, this is very welcome!
    Thanks!

Thanks, Opera did not work. As for BootCamp, the reason I choose Parallels was for the convenience of NOT having to reboot in and out all the time. With Parallels I can run the program within Mac and just click back and forth. I guess when I have to access it I'll just put up with the amount of resources it takes up.
    Thanks for all the assistance.

  • IPhone 3GS : Random Interruptions while using iPod & NikePlus App

IF YOU ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM PLEASE CONTACT APPLE BY PHONE or EMAIL
I JUST SPOKE TO APPLE CARE AND THEY CLAIM NOONE ELSE HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS.
They told me that if more people complain, then and only then, will they have their engineers look into it.
I've been having the same problem also. It first happened with the NikePlus App....it would pause workout and resume workout randomly.
Yesterday I went for a bike ride and while using the iPod on my iPhone 3GS the Voice Control would interrupt the music at random.
I think it started after the recent (June2010) iPhone software update.
    Totally Annoying!!!
Applecare recommended that I open iTunes with my phone attached and proceed to 'Restore phone to New'. They asked me not to add any apps to the phone until after testing the iPod again during another workout to see if the problem is resolved. Then, I'm to add the NikePlus app and try it again. This way, they can try to pinpoint if it's an App Calibration problem. I'm to contact them to with the results. (I'll post it here also)
*If you too have this problem...please report the problem to apple so that they can address the issue.*

its not your phone bud im having the same problem to keeps crashing and i know its not that the phone is old unless you call 2days old as got it from apple store buch st glasgow on the 14th dec 2011 its an ios issue im sure as my last 1 updated to ios 5 and it wouldnt read sims no longer after speaking to apple they agreed to replace my handset as they are aware that the ios is frying some 3gs model mines was left a brick ie paper weight so if mines is crashing ect i cant even use the camera as it sticks then switches off apple need to sort this ios 5 out

  • IPhone Voice Memos Interrupted By Incoming Calls

I notice that every time I use my Voice Memos software on the 3G(s), if an call comes in, the Voice Memo stops recording and I won't know it till I look at the phone later. Is there ANY way to stop that for that not to happen and you can have perhaps the calls go directly into voice mail so that the Voice Memo feature doesn't get interrupted? It's useless to me otherwise.
    Thanks for anyone's input!

The voice recorder application - just like every other iPhone application, native or 3rd party - will shut down when you receive a phone call. The iPhone operates under the assumption that the device is first and foremost a telephone.
As far as work arounds go, you can always put the phone in airplane mode when you need to use the voice recorder app uninterrupted. This will send all incoming calls directly to voicemail.

  • Mid 2010 15" i5 Battery Calibration Questions

    Hi, I have a mid 2010 15" MacBook Pro 2.4GHz i5.
Question 1: I didn't calibrate my battery when I first got my MacBook Pro (it didn't say in the manual that I had to). I've had it for about a month and am doing a calibration today, is that okay? I hope I haven't damaged my battery? The calibration is only to help the battery meter provide an accurate reading of how much life it has remaining, right?
Question 2: After reading Apple's calibration guide, I decided to set the MacBook Pro to never go to sleep (in Energy Saver System Preference) and leave it on overnight so it would run out of power and go to sleep, then I'd leave it in that state for at least 5 hours before charging it. When I woke up, the light on the front wasn't illuminated. It usually pulsates when in Sleep. Expectedly, it wouldn't wake when pressing buttons on the keyboard. So, what's happened? Is this Safe Sleep? I didn't see any "Your Mac is on reserve battery and will shut down" dialogues or anything similar, as I was asleep! I've left it in this state while I'm at work and will charge it this afternoon. Was my described method okay for calibration or should I have done something different?
Question 3: Does it matter how quickly you drain your battery when doing a calibration? i.e is it okay to drain it quickly (by running HD video, Photo Booth with effects etc) or slowly (by leaving it idle or running light apps)?
    Thanks.

    Fresh J:
A1. You're fine calibrating the battery now. You might have gotten more accurate readings during the first month if you'd done it sooner, but no harm has been done.
A2. Your machine has NOT shut down; it has done exactly what it was supposed to do. When the power became critically low, it first wrote the contents of RAM to the hard drive, then went to sleep. When the battery was completely drained some time later, the MBP went into hibernation and the slepp light stopped pulsing and turned off. In that state the machine was using no power at all, but the contents of your RAM were still saved. Once the AC adapter was connected, a press of the power button would cause those contents to be reloaded, and the machine would pick up again exactly where you left off. It is not necessary to wait for the battery to be fully charged before using the machine on AC power, but do leave the AC adapter connected for at least two hours after the battery is fully charged. Nothing that you say you've done was wrong, and nothing that you say has happened was wrong.
A3. No, it does not matter.

  • How to allow multiple users login to a MAC PRO without interruption?

I have a mac pro, which runs Yosemite, (2013 module) to be used as a server. However, I have difficult to let multiple users to use the mac simultaneously.
    Objective:
One person uses the mac directly on his desktop, while the others to login remotely though VNC from PC (win 7/Linux).
The users have their own workspace, and they will not interrupt each other.
    What I tried:
I created two mange accounts on the MAC.
Account 1 was used to directly login on the mac desktop.
Account 2 was used to login to the mac from a PC though VNC. (I also tried this from a Centos workstation with the Tiger VNC viewer)
    Problem:
When account 2 is login, the location monitor will automatically change to that account as well. Both accounts shared exactly the same screen, mouse & keyboard actions. It is impossible to let multiple users to use the MAC pro simultaneously without interruptions.
If I use "hdiutil attach" to mount a dmg file though SSH with account 2, the folder will automatically show in the local desktop login with account 1.
    Question:
I read something about the "Per-user screen sharing". It says, "You can remotely log into a Mac with any user account on that computer and control it, without interrupting someone else who might be using the computer under a different login." Is it possible to do this from a PC or Linux client?
If the problem is simply due to the poor functionality of the build-in VNC service in Yosemite, I appreciate your help to suggest some other decent VNC server for Yosemite. I know the Vine Server (OSXvnc), but I failed to install it on the mac because it is incompatible with the Yosemite.
Does the SSH is supposed to work in this way in OSX? I mean the local account can see the folder mounted by another account though SSH.
If any specific version of Yosemite is required to allow multiple users to access a mac simultaneously? Just as the win 7 professional allow only one user to login in at each time. But with the remote desktop server of windows, multiple users are able to use the same computer at the same time without any problem.
If you familiar with any of the above questions, please help. Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.
I know the best way to get the solution is to direct call the apple support. However, it is really not easy to call them. Because it always results with long waiting time and then the people pick up the phone will transfer my call to an expert who will make me to describe the problem again.
Since I'm not interested in the technique details of all the problems, it is also grateful if you would provide a direct instruction to let me setup the computer for the purpose.
Thanks you very much for your kindly help.

I cannot help with the screen sharing, although I have just tried it with a RealVNC client on an iPad and it seemed to work OK.
However on the disk showing on all users desk tops have you unchecked the "ignore ownership on this volume" check box? You can check the drives permissions with CMD i command.

  • The installation was interrupted message after iTunes upgrade

I would appreciate help with my problem. I'd like to use iTunes but it doesn't work.
Description of the problem: I was happily using iTunes for more than a year. I received a notice that a new version was available and I upgraded. When the installation was complete I received the following message:
"The installation was interrupted before iTunes could be completely installed."
iTunes is not listed in the Programs menu and there are no files at c:\program files\itunes (itunes folder is not there).
After subsequent downloads and installs, I get the same error. When I do the iTunes standard install, QuickTime is
available and works well. I went back to the previous version, but it continued to give me the same error. I found very old versions of iTunes on the web and they too had the same problem.
During the install the iTunes icon briefly appears on my desktop and then disappears. The message box indicating that the installation was interrupted occurs right after that.
I've tried to describe the problem in quite a bit of detail below to help avoid suggested fixes that have been tried and failed.
    1. I have followed the steps in the KB article. Please see the details of that work below.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
    2. I have Administrator access. I have verified that I'm part of both the Adminstrators and SERVICE groups under Impersonate a client after authentication. This process is found in the following doc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300361
    3. Windows is fully updated through the Windows Update utility. See Windows version info below.
    4. I can install any other application. I use this computer for work and I can install and uninstall any other application
I try. No other known errors or problems. I've installed other applications that use Microsoft Installer and InstallShield installers without problems.
    5. I tried the Quicktime standalone install and I received the notice that "The installation was interrupted..." Quicktime is now not found on the machine and there is no Quicktime files in the Program Files. During the middle of the installation, I received the following error. Error during QuickTime Standalone (7.1.0.210) install:
Error 1905.Module c:\program files\QuickTime\qtuiPanelControl.dll failed to unregister. HRESULT -2147220472 Contact your support personnel.
When I attempt to install iTunes from the standard install, Quicktime installs properly and works. It only fails during the standalone install.
    6. No strange characters in the folder. There is no itunes folder so it contains no folder. The download exe is on my desktop.
    7. Temp Folder emptied and machine restarted (many times)
    8. Uninstall older versions - They are not listed as installed so there is nothing to uninstall. The Windows Clean Up utility does not list them so I can't use that tool to remove them. It appears that iTunes is cleaning itself up when the installation fails so there are no files. There is no iTunes folder at c:\program files\.
    9. iPodService alert is not there so I don't need to delete it.
    10. Redownload software - It has been downloaded many times. Each time I'm careful to permanently delete the previous install exe so it is redownloaded.
    11. AntiVirus software has been disabled. I'm using McAfee VS Enterprise 8.0.0. I have also checked the AV logs to see if it has blocked an install or other event around that time - there is nothing in the AV logs to show any blocked or prevented activity. No activity at all because the software is disabled.
    12. Registry - A search of "itunes" in the Registry Editor finds a lot of references. Too many to list, but most are in keys that apply to file types.
    13. I have downloaded and attempted to install the Windows Installer 3.0 package from the following URL:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5FBC5470-B259-4733-A914 -A956122E08E8&displaylang=en&Hash=9PV3FS4
I'm told by a box during the install that the version I have installed is newer than the one on the website and there is no need to install it.
    14. The version of iTunes that I'm trying to install right now is 6.0.4.2. I've had this problem for at least three months so I've been trying many versions before its release.
    15. Other than the mentioned AV program, I don't have a third-party firewall, anti-spyware or monitoring program installed.
    System:
    IBM ThinkPad T42
    Windows XP Pro
    1 GB RAM
    McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0.0
    Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    Version: 5.1.2600
    Service Pack: 2.0
    Location: C:\WINDOWS
    Hot Fix: KB913446
    IBM T42   Windows XP Pro

It is a miracle - After about 9 months without itunes, the new release installed on my machine today and appears to be working.
7.0.0.70 is the verion I just installed.
Another note to add to this now resolved issue. I bought an AirPort Express and I was not able to install the Admin software on the CD. I received the same error as I received with iTunes and Quicktime. This leads me to believe that this problem is in the registry or some other installer issue that is specific to Apple installations. I will have to go home and try to re-install that software. Maybe the new iTunes version cleared up the problem.

  • You have interrupted the wizard!! (Photoshop CS2)

Okay, lately I've been having problems installing photoshop after trying to create a user account for myself on this damned computer; a friend has supposedly helped me but we'll never know until I'm able to install the program itself... This is where ya'll come in.
    I am getting the message:
"The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop CS2 finished installing..." etc, etc.
I have rebooted twice and even waited a few hours before trying to install and still, I receive the same message.
    What do?
    WINDOWS 2000

  • Why can't I install any adobe CS products after interrupted installation?

    So here's the deal.
For some stupid reason (don't ask why), I was installing CS6 during a hurricane. After full extraction, installer successfully initialized, but at 95%, there was a power outage. Upon restart, I attempted to uninstall whatever components had been installed to start with a clean slate. Unfortunately, the installation was interrupted just before installing the uninstaller. So...I had to force uninstall. In the process I also deleted a bunch of entries in the registry, and other files that were related or dependencies of CS6. Now in the process, I must have deleted something crucial to adobe installations in the WINDOWS system files, because now I can extract any creative suite related installation, but upon running the installer, I recieve this error:
"Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file."
Now I've tried everything under the sun. MD5 caches are identical to a pristine download, so no corruption of the files is evident, and I can install a copy of the file on another computer, so evidently it is fully functioning. I don't understand why it's stating there is a "missing file", when all the files required for installation (or so I was led to believe) were inside the directory where the download was extracted. I didn't realize Adobe installations draw upon windows files, but evidently i'm missing something special. I've fixed registry errors and checked the log. As far as I can tell, the FATAL error occurs when adobe installer fails to find a node in a specified directory, yet the log doesn't state the directory or filename so I can't properly investigate. I'm beginning to think the only way I can install CS anything is by reinstalling windows. Please, I require help from experts. Don't ask dumb questions. I'm an IT guy. I'm hoping adobe representatives will have more knowledge on the installation process than I do, recognize the error, or are more capable at disecting the error logs. I will copy and paste the numerous failed installation attempts from the PDapp log below. Please have a look. I need help!

I've done this multiple times and it produces essentially the same message, but there is a mention that a restart is pending. This is also strange because this is definitely not the case. First time I used CScleaner it took a while and was obviously busy correcting something. However now when I select clean all, it simply dumps anopther massive log file into AppData and says cleaning completed successfully. Now I just ran it again, so would you like me to post the more recent log file?

  • USB 6009 - Calibration of Analog Input (Mac)

    Hi,
I have recently acquired a NI USB 6009. I'm using it under labview 7.1 on Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger).
I can run the software examples and the datalogger without problems. However, the device seems
not to be properly calibrated, and I can't figure out how to do it from the manual. When I connect
pin 1&2 (analog in 0) to pin 32 and 31 (GND and 5V ref voltage) the software claims that the
measured voltage it ~3.7V (a multimeter confirms that it is in fact 5.0V). Can anyone help
    trouble shooting this ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Niels

A little update : After thinking some more I realized that it's because
the USB 6009 is in differential mode, and I hadn't connected one pin. Now
however, I have trouble figuring out where to change/set this. None of
the programs (e.q. Acquire One Voltage.vi) seems to define this, so where
    is this defined ?
    Thanks,
    Niels

  • I have LabView but I do not have the Calibration and Configuration Palette, and I could not download it, how can I download it or if i cannot, can I work with the NI-DAQ Calibration_1200?

I have read in a tutorial for the board 1200 that I can calibrate it with the Calibration and Configuration Palette in LabVIEW, but I do not have them and I could not download it to access its libraries, so I can only download the NI-DAQ software,What's my best choice and if it is to download the palette with its libraries, how can download it with them?I'd appreciate your answers

If you wish to use your 1200 device in LabVIEW, you must download and install NI-DAQ. When you install NI-DAQ, it will ask you if you would like to install support for LabVIEW. By installing this support, you will then have access to the DAQ pallette in LabVIEW. The DAQ pallette requires that you have NI-DAQ installed.
For more information on installing and using your device, you can refer to the DAQ Quick Start Guide. You can download it from:

  • PXI 2527 & PXI 4071 -Questions about EMF considerations for high accuracy measurements and EMF calibration schemes?

    Hi!
I need to perform an in-depth analysis of the overall system accuracy for a proposed system. I'm well underway using the extensive documentation in the start-menu National Instruments\NI-DMM\ and ..\NI-Switch\ Documenation folders...
While typing the question, I think I partially answered myself while cross-referencing NI documents... However a couple of questions remain:
If I connect a DMM to a 2 by X arranged switch/mux, each DMM probe will see twice the listed internal "Differential thermal EMF" at a typical value of 2.5uV and a max value of less than 12uV (per relay). So the total effect on the DMM uncertainty caused by the switch EMF would be 2*2.5uV = 5uV? Or should these be added as RSS: = sqrt(2.5^2+2.5^2) since you can not know if the two relays have the same emf?
Is there anything that can be done to characterize or account for this EMF (software cal, etc?)?
    For example, assuming the following:
    * Instruments and standards are powered on for several hours to allow thermal stability inside of the rack and enclosures
    * temperature in room outside of rack is constant
Is there a reliable way of measureing/zeroing the effect of system emf? Could this be done by applying a high quality, low emf short at the point where the DUT would normally be located, followed by a series of long-aperture voltage average measurements at the lowest DMM range, where the end result (say (+)8.9....uV) could be taken as a system calibration constant accurate to the spec's of the DMM?
What would the accuracy of the 4071 DMM be, can I calculate it as follows, using 8.9uV +-700.16nV using 90 days and 8.9uV +- 700.16nV + 150nV due to "Additional noise error" assuming integration time of 1 (aperture) for ease of reading the chart, and a multiplier of 15 for the 100mV range. (Is this equivalent to averaging a reading of 1 aperture 100 times?)
So, given the above assumptions, would it be correct to say that I could characterize the system EMF to within  8.5uV+- [700.16nV (DMM cal data) + 0.025ppm*15 (RMS noise, assuming aperture time of 100*100ms = 10s)] = +-[700.16nV+37.5nV] = +- 737.66nV? Or should the ppm accuracy uncertainties be RSS as such: 8.5uV +- sqrt[700.16nV^2 + 37.5nV^2] = 8.5uV +-701.16nV??
As evident by my above line of thought, I am not at all sure how to properly sum the uncertainties (I think you always do RSS for uncertainties from different sources?) and more importantly, how to read and use the graph/table in the NI 4071 Specifications.pdf on page 3. What exactly does it entail to have an integration time larger than 1? Should I adjust the aperture time or would it be more accurate to just leave aperture at default (100ms for current range) and just average multiple readings, say average 10 to get a 10x aperture equivalent?
The below text includes what was going to be the post until I think I answered myself. I left it in as it is relevant to the problem above and includes what I hope to be correct statements. If you are tired of reading now, just stop, if you are bored, feel free to comment on the below section as well.
The problem I have is one of fully understanding part of this documenation. In particular, since a relay consists of (at least) 2 dissimilar metal junctions (as mentioned in the NI Switch help\Fundamentals\General Switching Considerations\Thermal EMF and Offset Voltage section) and because of the thermo-couple effect (Seebeck voltage), it seems that there would be an offset voltage generated inside each of the relays at the point of the junction. It refeers the "Thermocouple Measurements" section (in the same help document) for further details, but this is where my confusion starts to creep up.
In equation (1) it gives the expression for determining E_EMF which for my application is what I care about, I think (see below for details on my application).
What confuses me is this: If my goal is to, as accurately as possible, determine the overall uncertainty in a system consisting of a DMM and a Switch module, do I use the "Differential thermal EMF" as found in the switch data-sheet, or do I need to try and estimate temperatures in the switch and use the equation?
*MY answer to my own question:
By carefully re-reading the example in the thermocouple section of the switch, I realized that they calculate 2 EMF's, one for the internal switch, calculated as 2.5uV (given in the spec sheet of the switch as the typical value) and one for the actual thermocouple. I say actual, because I think my initial confusion stems from the fact that the documenation talks about the relay/switch junctions as thermocouples in one section, and then talks about an external "probe" thermocouple in the next and I got them confused.
As such, if I can ensure low temperatures inside the switch at the location of the junctions (by adequate ventilation and powering down latching relays), I should be able to use 2.5uV as my EMF from the switch module, or to be conservative, <12uV max (from data sheet of 2527 again).
I guess now I have a hard time believeing the 2.5uV typical value listed.. They say the junctions in the relays are typically an iron-nickel alloy against a copper-alloy. Well, those combinations are not explicitly listed in the documenation table for Seebeck coefficients, but even a very small value, like 0.3uV/C adds up to 7.5uV at 25degC. I'm thinking maybe the table values in the NI documentation reffers to the Seebeck values at 25C?

Seebeck EMV needs temperature gradients , in your relays you hopefully have low temperature gradients ... however in a switching contact you can have all kind diffusions and 'funny' effects, keeping them on same temperature is the best you can do.
Since you work with a multiplexer and with TCs, you need a good Cold junction ( for serious calibrations at 0°C ) and there is the good place for your short cut to measure the zero EMV. Another good test is loop the 'hot junction' back to the cold junction and observe the residual EMV.  Touching (or heating/cooling) the TC loop gives another number for the uncertainty calculation: the inhomogeneous material of the TC itself..
A good source for TC knowledge:

of how many facts are presented herein and regardless of the percentage
    retained,
all will be for naught unless one simple important fact is
    kept firmly in mind.
The thermocouple reports only what it "feels."
This may or may not the temperature of interest'
