Interrupted while setting about:config. Came back and now firefox won't open for more than 1 second.
As above. looked up and was late to work. never 'closed' file or settings.
Came back from work and now firefox opens for about 1 second and automatically closed
down immediately. I've removed it. uninstalled it. redownloaded it. still does same.
Now I can't go back in and recheck the config settings, because it won't stay open long enough
to even work on it.
I had remotely saved my bookmarks, so that's the most valuable thing.
I'd be happy to wipe it off my disc and simply replace it and start all over.
How can i get that done? I'm not a super pro, so direct steps would be really useful.
You can try to delete the prefs.js file in the Firefox profile folder.

I changed my setting to private browsing and now firefox won't open. Any ideas?
In what way did it not open? Was the Firefox icon on the task bar?
Did you get any error messages? Did the computer show Firefox
as running? -
As mentioned - I was trying to set up an iPod Touch, and it kept telling me "open iTunes," so it dawned on me that I probably needed to update it. So I updated it, and now it just doesn't open (it bounces once, and that's it).
For added info:
I have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X version 10.6.8.
Technically I keep all my music on an external hard drive, but I don't think anything is corrupted (because it was working fine just before I updated it).
Thank you.Hi, JEvansIII.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try resetting your System Management Controller or SMC then launch iTunes after processing these steps. If the issue persists, try downloading a fresh copy of iTunes by accessing the second link below.

Updated to 4.0 version and when it finished loading I got 4 identical Firefox icons on my desktop. I went back in time on my computer to go back to an order version and Firefox won't open or is very slow to open.
Do a clean (re-)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
* Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
* It may not be necessary to create a new profile, so first try if it works with your current profile and if not then create a new profile.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

I hope someone can help. My husband did something to update Firefox (or Firefox just automatically updated today, I don't know which), but I didn't like the new toolbar much, so I did a System Restore to get back the old one. That didn't work, so I then did another System Restore for an earlier day, but when I restarted the computer, Firefox wouldn't open at all.
A pop-up asked me something about "allowing 'something-.exe' at start-up," with options like "Remember this action, don't allow, and allow," I think, and I don't remember what I clicked, and that's likely part of the problem, but in any case, I can't get Firefox to start now. I click on the logo/icon and nothing happens.
I tried to undo both System Restores, but the computer would only restore the most recent one, not both.
And I tried, as suggested on the forum elsewhere, to go into "Firefox Safe Mode," but that didn't help either.
Thank you for any help. That's what happened to me too after I upgraded to firefox 4 and it wouldn't connect to my internet. Now I'm stuck with Internet Explorer with none of my important personal information like my favorites.

Up until recently, when I would download a pdf file, it would automatically open, and recently, for some reason, it stopped opening automatically and just downloaded to my desktop where I wanted it. I found instructions on Mozilla if files downloaded but not displayed, that included displaying my profile folder and then deleting it. I trashed it (different from deleting?) and now if I try to open Firefox, I get the message that Firefox can't open/load because profile is missing. Please advise how I can get the profile folder back in.
thanksCreate a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Did the requested upgrade and now iTunes won't open for anything
I upgraded to the newest version and now iTunes wont open, no error message, nothing. It looks as if it's going to launch when I click on it but nothing happens. This Happened last time I upgraded but it worked itself out after a few mins but this has been all day... nothing is working.
I tried to plug my iPod in and not even that will launch iTunes.
In a similar topic it was asked if QuickTime would launch, my QuickTime will open but it has been loading for 2hrs now.... WHATS GOING ON?!!???
Dell dimension desktop Windows XPMe too... The other post relating to this was with a PC but the same is happening for macs too by the look of it. Has anyone got an idea of how to sort this out? I don't suppose it's possible to find an earlier version of iTunes to download? I'm going to have a search now cos I need iTunes to be working!

I downloaded a new version of iTunes and now Firefox won't open iTunes
I loaded new version of iTunes and Safari. When system restarted - iTunes won't open. I deleted Safari - still no go.
I'm having this issue as well. Anytime I click on items that would normally open in Itunes, it tells me I need to install Itunes. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Itunes to no avail. In looking in Firefox's preferences, there's no reference to Itunes in the Applications tab.

It was working fine then yesterday every time I tried to open firefox I got an erroe message saying abnormal termination. A runtime C++ library error. I removed firefox today and downloaded it again but still have the same problem.

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; (R1 1.5))There's a lot there, so I'll start with the parts I can answer quickly.
The "ACL found but not expected..." messages can be safely ignored, so says this article

(look below all the "SUID" examples)
I had changed my Desktop image earlier but when the "Installing 1 item" window came up it changed back to the back ground that you first see on your desktop after installation.
Leopard installs updates a bit differently. If it's simply an application that does not change system files, it installs them like before, without having to restart. If the update is to the system, then you must immediately "restart," It then goes to that stars and purple screen to perform the installation. Before, it would do the installation while you still had control of the Mac and would prompt you to restart when it finished the installation. This change probably make things more secure and reliable, because you aren't allowed to do other things on the Mac while system updates are being installed.
Please post back with the remaining point of concern. -
Just downloaded latest version and now Firefox won't open a new tab. How do I fix this?
I've been using Firefox for years, however as of last week I can no longer open a new tab. I have to go to "file > new window" new tab quick function nor dropdown work. I'm using a Mac OS X 10.9.3.

I have tried everything to get the new 4.0 to open. I did the upgrade this morning and have been working on it all day, When I tried installing it several times FF was running so I closed it down via task mgr. I rebooted.. did everything I could think of. I really don't want to uninstall and lose all my info and settings, along with my add ons. I am defragging now, hoping that might help. I am using Windows XP.

Tina,
I would go crazy if this was me. You may find this interesting from the customer agreement (to see full agreement go here:Customer Agreement | Verizon Wireless):
"HOW AND WHEN CAN I DISPUTE CHARGES?
If you're a Postpay customer, you can dispute your bill within 180 days of receiving it, but unless otherwise provided by law or unless you're disputing charges because your wireless device was lost or stolen, you still have to pay all charges until the dispute is resolved. If you're a Prepaid customer, you can dispute a charge within 180 days of the date the disputed charge was incurred. YOU MAY CALL US TO DISPUTE CHARGES ON YOUR BILL OR ANY SERVICE(S) FOR WHICH YOU WERE BILLED, BUT IF YOU WISH TO PRESERVE YOUR RIGHT TO BRING AN ARBITRATION OR SMALL CLAIMS CASE REGARDING SUCH DISPUTE, YOU MUST WRITE TO US AT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE ADDRESS ON YOUR BILL, OR SEND US A COMPLETED NOTICE OF DISPUTE FORM (AVAILABLE AT VERIZONWIRELESS.COM), WITHIN THE 180–DAY PERIOD MENTIONED ABOVE. IF YOU DO NOT NOTIFY US IN WRITING OF SUCH DISPUTE WITHIN THE 180-DAY PERIOD, YOU WILL HAVE WAIVED YOUR RIGHT TO DISPUTE THE BILL OR SUCH SERVICE(S) AND TO BRING AN ARBITRATION OR SMALL CLAIMS CASE REGARDING ANY SUCH DISPUTE."
This may help you also: Arbitration and Mediation FAQs | Verizon Wireless
You can dispute any charges by doing an Arbitration or Mediation. I have never done it, so I can not help much there but this all may get you started.
Let me know if any of this works! Good Luck! Please keep me updated. I really hope they help you. -
I'm using Max OS 10.4.11
Never had a problem with Firefox updates until this a.m. (I'm using Safari to access this site)Hi there,
Unfortunately, Mac OS 10.4 does not support Firefox 4...see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installing_Firefox Installing Firefox]. I would recommend you uninstall, and then reinstall the latest build of [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older Firefox 3.6].
